My car rental agent was excellent!! He is the bomb (originally from Spain). The wait time in order to be helped was quite long, so Europcar could be better about staffing enough agents but the agents that they do have are fantastic .Reviewed Apr 25 2023

I had a rental confirmation for a particular car when I went to the rental desk to pick it up. The person at the desk asked me a few questions about the number of bags and number of passengers and he recommended to get a larger car because he thought the one I had would be too small. I looked at the two cars he had to offer and did agree to a Rav4 for 150 pounds a day. I knew this would be more than the original quote but there was never any mention of a bunch of extra charges that ran the price up over $5000 dollars for an 11 day rental!! Transparency is the key to both parties being satisfied with a deal. I feel I was victim to a mis-representation of the costs. I would never have gone through with the deal had I been given the price with all the unjustified extras.Reviewed Jun 5 2022

Basically they did not honor my rental reservation. They also insisted I buy insurance that the paper form even said was optional stating that u.s websites are in error and this is mandatory. All an upsell. I booked early got a great reservation and they refused to honor it. The final bill even included a 20 percent upcharge stating I was renting from a preferred location, Edinburgh airport. So much for trying to make me a repeat customer. The return man was pleasant, professional and reasonable. Good on him. The forced hustle at check in sucked and is designed to take extra money from customers when they’ve already committed and it’s too late to go somewhere else. Europcar, via Kayak, quoted me $240 for my 6 day small car rental when in the UK. Taxes and fees included. At check-in I was told that despite having my own insurance coverage for rental vehicles, that their insurances of $20 a day was mandatory. I made no other changes to the booking. They added various other fees, and charged me $470. Almost twice the amount I was quoted. I don't know if this is Kayak's fault or Europcar's, but my advise to you is to avoid them both until they deal with these dishonest business practices.Reviewed Jan 23 2022

Rate was good, but taxes and fees triple the cost, so be aware. Also, pick up agent extremely pleasant, but incorrect regarding additional insurance coverage. Verify with your insurance in advance. Still a good value for our needs and would rent again.Reviewed Sep 11 2021
