I contracted the car for £89. I waited for 25 minutes in line to listen to a eruopcar employee talk about the weather to another customer. I was then informed that I was late (after 4pm) and would be charged an extra £60. I was then informed that I needed insurance as the quote I received did not include it. So an extra £40 was added. I ended up paying an extra £100 in total. I will;l never again use Europcar after being a loyal customer for 30 years.Reviewed Sep 7 2021

Lack of transparencyCons:I was extremely frustrated to find I *had* to purchase additional theft insurance, even though I have full coverage through my credit card. This added significantly to the daily cost of the rental in ways I had not planned on. It would be one thing if this had been communicated transparently at the point of booking, but to find this out at the point of pick up was extremely frustrating. I will be more discerning in future, and will not be choosing Europcar.Reviewed Oct 9 2018

After long wait at counter, company would not honor arranged priceCons:Company required purchase of insurance which would more than double rental price. Declined to rent and rented instead from National at adjacent counter with no problems and lower price. Will not rent from Europcar again. Was fortunate to find and available car, in same class, at a good price during holiday week..Reviewed Apr 15 2017
