It was the closet I think I will ever get to the 'Downton Abbey ' experience. It was like rooming in a castle. Don't be fooled by the outside appearance as it could do with some sprucing up a bit. I still cannot believe how clean the floors were. The wate pressue can be a little iffy when taking a shower.
Hard to say what I liked best: the breakfasts were incredible. I also loved the house, a gilded-era Upstate NY mansion.
Qwerkiness, the style and setting. The welcoming staff. No but it would be nice to have a comfortable sitting area in the reception area .
The building and grounds are beautiful. The staff was more than accommodating and the breakfast was very nice. Everything was extremely clean and well appointed. The shower head was short. I am 6'2' and the shower head was about chest level. The hot water was not steady.
Absolutely spectacular. Service, service, service - a lost art in too many places - the team at the Overlook Mansion - Jamie, Steve, Jim, Sherry and Bellagio from the moment we arrived - from the best breakfast to the last evening cocktail wonderful!! We couldn't stay longer - we already miss the grandeur and comfort of our room overlooking Little Falls and the thoughtful dining recommendations - one great unexpected experience after another!!
The room was fairly inexpensive. Rooms smelled like smoke everywhere, even though I had specifically asked for a non-smoking room. The shower ran all night as the water could not be properly shut off. My room had cheesy 70's style paneling on the wall, even though I saw in some other rooms through the window and they were nicer. The desk clerk had given me a line of bull about mine being the room he would choose to live in if he was going to live on premesis, and obvious fabrication just to get me into the worst room. The rug needed vacuuming. I just kept the lights low because I didn't want to see any more.
