absolutely nothing, Budget in Guayaquil airport did not honor the terms of my reservation wanting to charge extras for mileage and insurance doubling the rate of my reservation. I had to go to another rental agency for a vehicle.Cons:

Gentleman that explained the features of the vehicle and the security alarm system was courteous and helpful.Cons:
I'll stick to the facts: 1. It took them over 1.5 hours to provide me with a vehicle. 2. I booked an automatic and they didn't have any automatics in hand. (Said people were not returning cars on time - I think it was BS) 3. They discounted me $10 per day for "my troubles" _ WHAT IN THE WORLD COULD I DO IF I DIDN'T ALSO KNOW HOW TO DRIVE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION! 4. My reservation said Chevy Tahoe or similar (I chose the biggest car). I'm sorry to report that a Susuki Gran Vitara provided by Budget is NOT on the same level as a Chevrolet Tahoe. (They said it was the biggest vehicle they had). 5. They couldn't use my Citi Credit Card because it had a chip and the letters/numbers did not jet-out from the card like the old cards. They say the country had not upgraded their credit system, so I guess it wasn't their fault? Except I had no trouble using my c.c. all over the rest of Ecuador... I eneded up using my Chase c.c. which also had a chip, but the letters/numbers did jet out still. 6. Even after I purchased their insurance, which I didn't want to because my Citi c.c. covers it, they still had to take a $1,500 hold on my card... Not a problem for me, but imagine if my secondary card didn't have a high enough limit. 7. I wanted to return to the vehicle earlier and they said it was a 24 hours charge for the day regardless. I said ok, but I get to the airport and the office is close at 7am! I think they come in at 8am? Avis was open. I don't know if my experience would have been any better at any of the other companies, but my point is I won't be renting from budget any time in the future and would advise other fellow travelers to try Avis or Thifty both opened at 6:00am when I got to the airport.7.2 Good

The car was clean and ran efficiently for the 2 weeks we had the car. The desk staff was helpful at the airport when they finally arrived. Due to an accident not our fault, the staff was helpful in managing the complaint.Cons:

If you are planning to drive the Sierras of Ecuador, please be sure to get the most powerful engine available so that you can pass those slow trucks and semis on the winding roads through the mountains. My car was supposed to be an "upgrade" but had too little power to safely pass anyone.Enterprise Rent-A-Car

Pick up and drop off were easy, the staff was friendly, and the vehicle was fine and as expected.Cons:
The cost of the vehicle ended up roughly doubling what was expected due to: 1.) insurance coverage - granted I get that.. 2.) The limit on the number of kilometers you could drive for free.. this wasn't clear at all on the reservation - likely buried in the fine print somewhere. I had to purchase unlimited kilometers as an extra thing, which I think is kind of ridiculous..2.0 Poor

We have always been Enterprize car renters. Everything was set. Got the insurance through Allanz. Perfect. Git to Guayaquil and they said we had to take their insurance of $36 per day or we couldnt rent the car. So guess what we said!?!! Too bad so sad! We took cars all over the coast of EcuadorThrifty

No car available. They offered to drop us at our destination and bring the car the next day. Didnt show. 2 days later a car (NOT one that worked for us) was left at our address. We called the office to refuse it. They said thethey were bringing the correct one and just to wait. Never showed! We were still charged!!! 1st my reservation was made about 5 months before my trip and per the reservation I would get a Tahoe or something similar. When I arrive the Thrifty clerk says they don’t work with Tahoe’s and that my reservation would be for a Suzuki Vitara and if I wanted an upgrade it would cost me twice as much as what my reservation was made. 2nd even though my credit card offered insurance for international rentals (I called my credit card to confirm this before I left the country and they said the country I was going to was covered for rentals) Thrifty made me buy their insurance or I could not rent the vehicle! I was traveling with my wife and 2 kids (toddler and infant) so I had no choice at that point but to pay the extra or I would have to waist more time at the airport after a almost 12 hour flight and it was getting late. 3rd because none of my credit cards have the numbers in the front (no cards in the US have them anymore!! At least the new ones don’t!) I had to pay an extra $1000 deposit which they said they would return once I returned the vehicle. When I returned the vehicle they then said it would be 2 weeks before they returned my deposit to make sure I didn’t get any tickets on the vehicle. We are now over 2 weeks and they still have not returned my $1000 deposit! Also the car was all scratched and dinged up all around!! They AC vent on the driver side was broken!! Bottom line! Thrifty in Ecuador is terrible!! They should really do something about this location! Makes their company look bad! Will never rent from them again!2.0 Poor

I reserved the car via Internet indicating that I did not need insurance (I have one included with my credit card for car rental). Once on site, they obligated me to take the insurance which almost doubled the cost. I called customer service but they were no help at all and costed me even more due to the I ternational calls. Please don't sell insurances that later are not accepted by the car rental office.
