Pros: Modern, beautifully appointed with an amazing beachside location. Hard working and eager to please staff. Comfortable beds, clean and stylish rooms.
Cons: Same a la carte menu everyday for lunch and dinner. Breakfast needs to have a greater range with more healthy options.
Pros: Everything about KK beach is wonderful; the food, the rooms, the pool but most importantly the staff.
Cons: Nothing, it was perfect!
Pros: We liked everything about KK Beach and would love to return again.
Cons: The accessibility of the swimming pool could easily be improved, my wife has mobility problems but she managed to access the pool with my assistance.
Pros: This is a beautiful hotel, the rooms were lovely and spacious - ours had a tv nook and a large bed with a balcony - loved how it was decorated. The pool was also really nice and the staff were really friendly and helpful.
Cons: The food and drinks were good but a bit expensive and we had a massage which was really good but again a bit expensive compared to what you can get elsewhere.
Pros: Beautiful suite, fabulous view of the ocean and the loveliest pool I have ever swum in. The decor and grounds were superb.
Cons: The management in the restaurant was non existent. Very helpful young men but nobody supervising them. The menus were disappointing as they were mainly European. The breakfast lacked any originality and consisted of muesli and fruit. Eggs and omelette s were available but no croissants or cheese.
Cons: Tired looking property. Poor furnishings. Poor breakfast. Cheap toiletries. Staff makes an effort but overall the experience is of a poor 3 star package hotel that has been massively overpriced.
Pros: The staff were so friendly and welcoming. The room was amazing with a great view of the sea. The food was excellent. The hotel has a great pool and lots of space for visitors. Really enjoyed my stay. This was the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka.
Pros: The friendliness of the team, the design of the rooms and the food.
With a stay at OYO 445 Nirmala Villa in Koggala, you'll be near the beach, within a 15-minute drive of Unawatuna Beach and Koggala Lake. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free valet parking is available onsite.
Pros: The staff was very friendly. The garden is beautiful. Breakfast was amazing.
Cons: When I arrived I got an upgrade for an apartment which was nice but I was a little confused as I booked only a double room. After an hour staff asked me if it would bother me to change room to a double as a family arrived and they'd need the rooms which wasn't really a problem but when I was about to get my luggage and belongings the they where following me with the family into the rooms and I had to tell them twice to give me just a moment as I was in my bikini with a towel rapped around me... Just for privacy. Then I changed the room which was not appealing at all and unfortunately very moldy smelling. It was ok whilst ac and fan were turned on. In the morning I had a dead cockroach lying on the floor and three more running around in the main room and bathroom. Really disgusting creatures.... As well there were construction works on the proparty which was very noisy during the day so it was not possible to relax at the pool area. I got the room for cheaper though without even asking which definitely made up a bit at least a little. The breakfast was amazing though.... As well I noticed that staff were sleeping/ using empty rooms for themselfs and empty bottles of wine on terrace in the morning. So I really don't what to think about it. I was happy when I left.
Pros: The welcome was lovely, the room was very spacious and clean and comfortable. We asked if they could provide us with a dinner and a well as a mountain of rice, there came currys, dhals and sambas and bread. Was all great .
Pros: Very Hide away. Garden Breakfast. Swimming pool.cleaness.
Cons: Long time to open gate always close no guard and parking difficult for car.
Pros: FANTASTIC what a place well kept great staff fab pool if u are lucky u will see the monkeys passing over. We had an excellent big breakfast different each morning, we had our washing done at a reasonable price all clean and folded on return, this is one of the best value for money establishment we stayed in, in the last 3 weeks 11/10 thanks so much for a wonderful stay, if u like birds and wildlife visit the lake near by it so rich with birdlife and nature “recommend”
Cons: Nothing but to find the location cross the railway line about few hundred meters turn left at the book shop on the left and follow road to the villa
Pros: Great pool, nice clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff, delicious breakfast
Pros: Great location and lovely surroundings. Staff lovely and very accommodating considering the circumstances.
Cons: Dirty rooms and smelly. Cleaned only twice in a period of 12 days. Had to ask for clean towels and toilet paper. Electricity off most of the time and we were left in darkness with no air con. Water was also off most of the time and when it came on it was cold. Two showers in 12 days were warm. Major building works on property. Starting from 8am till dusk. Using noisy hand tools and machinery. Including Xmas day. No one told us about building work when we arrived or prior to booking. Would be ok for a couple of days but not for 12. Poor quality breakfast, including green mouldy bread on one occasion.
Pros: Location Staff
Cons: The constant construction on site and noise. Intermittent lose of water Intermittent lose of electric Poor coffee and bread
Pros: The lush garden is AMAZING! And so is the super friendly staff! And the huge veranda we enjoyed every evening while the kids were asleep. We forgot a purse in the van we travelled on with and Nishante took care of it and offered courier service. The place is very clean!
Cons: We were there 10 Days in Jan 2020 when they built their new villas which seems to become very Nice!! Sometimes the construction was a bit noisy, but never until we had had our breakfast in our veranda. I guess that was why the price was discounted, but it would have been Good to be informed. Anyway we are happy we stayed cause it is a Lovely place and we were off to the different beaches every day anyway! Also Nishante offered us to stay one night for free when the villas are all set (even though we did not complain about the situation).
Pros: The staff and the villa was excellent the garden and pool area was first class great stay would luv to go back
Cons: Nothing could have been better it was perfect
With a stay at Romaya Villa in Unawatuna, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Unawatuna Beach and Mihiripenna Beach. Featured amenities include luggage storage, laundry facilities, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The property is set up and maintained beautifully, away from the main hustle and bustle of the main street. For me, a born and bred city girl, the best thing was how close it felt to the nature - I would just sit by the pool in the afternoon, and listen to the birds singing in the trees. The breakfast was to die for and there's a lot of it! Don't know what's the last time I've had so much fruit... They also serve tea/coffee in the afternoon - a nice touch. Staff are lovely and very helpful, we did have a slight hiccup in communication once, but they more than made up for it later. We stayed in the deluxe triple room, which is one of the two units in the villa, separate from the larger building. It is just by the pool and feels quiet and secluded. The pool itself is very nice!
Cons: The only thing is the location - you do need a tuk-tuk to get around. That said, usually staff are available to give you a lift to the beach or to a restaurant, and plenty of tuktuks are available for the way back. For good food options its best to travel to Unawatuna.
Pros: You can rent scooters on the spot (which is needed). The view is amazing and relaxing. Good breakfast. Nice room with a good shower/bathtub. Very friendly staff.
Cons: The power is unstable in Sri Lanka and the Villa doesn't have a generator, which means that when the power is out, there is nothing they can do about it.
Pros: This place is just amazing. We felt soiled there and very safe. Beautiful garden with cashew trees and mango trees, birds and even a lizard joining the party one day. The swimming pool was an excellent option for morning and evening swimming and we could enjoy the marvelous views just sitting there. The rooms and the bathroom were very clean, comfortable and sunny. The staff very helpful and smiling :) Last but not least - THE FOOD! You have to try their traditional dinners. Poetry :)
Cons: Nothing I can think off
Cons: Wow! Just wow!... Amazing villa with pool... Brilliant breakfasts.... The staff could not do enough for you.... Tuk tuk available on site.. 5 mins walk to local shop... 5 mins drive to local town with atm and local restaurants etc.. The manager was a great man... Special shout goes out to the other staff... Especially kg... The place to stay whilst in unawatuna area!
Pros: Really nice property with comfy beds, clean bathrooms and an amazing breakfast. Staff were super friendly and engaging. Super peaceful location to unwind away from the crowds of unwanatuna
Cons: WiFi was a bit sketchy
Pros: Every single thing: the villa, the employees, the pool, the nature..
Cons: I cannot think of negative things!!
Pros: Pool and the spacious clean room
Cons: Sometimes monkeys or small animals run on the roof
Located in Koggala, Dasa Beach View is within a 15-minute drive of Unawatuna Beach and Galle Fort. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Perfect View on the beach Very kind people Perfect breakfast location
Pros: The owner provided the surf board which is free to borrow . You can enjoy the most splendid beach and surfing in the most tranquil atmosphere. Additionally, the cooking guy ( Butler ) prepare the wonderful breakfast every morning and took care of everything, which was really helpful! If you want a private and extremely fine sand beach , this is the most amazing place to stay!
Pros: Perfect location, right on the beautiful beach. Nice and attentive host.
Pros: The beautiful sand and the high waves. Often we had the beach for us alone. The room was almost near the beach. The location is fantastic, shops and bus and train around the corner. A perfect base. The breakfast was good. And great shower.
Cons: Due to a dirty stink street we arrived at our hotel room. On top of the room they are still building what is not attractive. Even the noise from the shops around. There was hardly any privacy, despite the good intentions of the staff. We are not the type of traveler to look after all the time and want to be followed with every step we make. We do love our privacy when we are on a holiday. And he asks for tip at the end of our stay.
Pros: The room was nice an clean. Only bad thing was that you could not close bathroom door completely. The beach is only a few steps away. It’s also close to the bus and train station. Osman was very kind and friendly. We enjoyed staying here !
Pros: The breakfasts were very good. Rooms were clean.
Cons: The rooms were located at the back of two shops. There were rooms being erected above the bedrooms. Although rooms looked good on website, surrounding areas were not as described. Basically two rooms on a building site. Didn't feel very secure at night although Uzman was very attentive during the day.
Pros: Traditional Sri Lankan breakfast with a great beach view on Sri Lanka's south coast. Not far out from Galle but far enough that the beaches are quieter and its a more local feel.
Cons: Nothing. The usual "challenges" are power cuts and there were a few during the stay but that is just part of reality of visiting this part of the world and doesn't detract from the slower more relaxed and chilled out pace of life here! :)
Cons: Security could be improved. The staff were very helpful, although the person who took care of the property during the day was over-bearing and needed to give us more space. We did not appreciate him asking for a tip at the end of our stay.
Pros: Well what can I stay a great little place right next to the beach. All the staff were great always willing to help in getting around. The breakfast were amazing i was always well fed. The tuk tuk were cheap to get scuba diving or other beaches only 10 mins. There is a few cool little beach bars and restaurants overall was a good place to spend the new year.
Cons: The only downside was the size of the waves sometimes during the day.

Located in Habaraduwa, a few steps from Koggala Beach, Sea Garden Beach Resort provides accommodation with a private beach area and free private parking. Guests can enjoy garden views. At the guest house, every room is equipped with a desk. At Sea Garden Beach Resort, every room includes a seating area. A continental breakfast is available daily at the accommodation.
Pros: Perfect spot on the beach, also very helpful manager with transport.
Pros: A basic room in a fantastic location. You walk out of your room and you step on the beach. The breakfast was ordered the night before and it was served in the morning. The owners are a young couple. I'm sure that they will fix everything.
Cons: Dirty walls. Dirty under the bed. A lot to be desired. I spoke with the owner and he seemed to understand the problems. He promised that he will paint the walls and clean better from now on.
Pros: The location is stunning. The rooms, in an attractively fronted house, face straight onto the beach which was almost deserted during our stay. There’s a busy road at the back but you forget it’s there when you’re facing the sea. The sea is rough so not a swimmimg beach except for very strong swimmers but perfect in every other way and with a scattering of unintrusive beach restaurants. The accommodation is clean, there is an effective fan above the bed, a mosquito net (needed) and the shower has good hot water. A breakfast of fruit, omelette, white bread and tea or coffee served in front of the rooms is adequate. The owners were very pleasant and friendly.
Cons: A lot of sand accumulated on the floor of the room and especially in the bathroom. A brush or mop, or a quick sweep out by the owner on the second day would have been helpful. Toast, butter and jam could be offered for breakfast instead of just bread. (We asked for butter and it was given on the second day)
Pros: The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is very nice as it is directly at the beach, which is very quiet and not overcrowded by tourists. The man who is owning the hotel is also a tuk Tuk driver and also gave us a good price for our tour to galle. We definitely recommend this place.
Pros: location was excellent. Right on the beach and close to a general store. Very close to Galle by tuk-tuk
Cons: There was no water in the room and there was a lot of sand in the room

Pros: I recommend Chaminda Guest. Owner was really helpful and friendly. Room was clean with quite big bathroom. Owner served teasty dinners (big portions).
Cons: Breakfast was a disappointment. Breakfast costs 550 rs and it contain only one egg and a lot of bread.
Pros: The house was very clean. The staff where very friendly and helpful. The food was reasonably priced and delicious. We were able to use a fridge.

Pros: Lovely beach Room was spacious. Staff were friendly
Cons: AC kept periodically shutting down and the swing function didnt work. Asked staff for an iron but didnt provide one Room was a bit dusty Room service food was average Bed in Panoramic suite was too small.
Pros: Amazing beach (especially further part of the beach - water is cleaner there). Room is spacious and the view is one of the best in Sri Lanka!
Cons: Queen size bed in Ocean suite - room is really big, and small bed is upsetting. King size bed would really make it much more comfortable and enjoyable.
Pros: The location is beautiful, the hotel is just next to the ocean. Private beach is the unique selling point of this property as the swimming pool is not big enough for a good swim. Food is decent enough.
Cons: 1. Bad Cleanliness - our room had cockroaches and spiders. 2. Ignorant house keeping staff - We kept asking the house keeping staff to get the room cleaned/spray the room but they ignored every response. 3. Informed the reception about the situation, they did nothing about it. 4. Guys, please ensure you get the room you booked. We had booked the ocean suite and the staff tried to accomodate us in a basic deluxe room, when we clarified that we had ocean suite, then also, they tried to give us Garden Suite. Do not take a toss for your money.
Cons: The were no safety policy in the water/sea activities, the staff manager was extremely rude after my sister had a fall incident from the jet ski which lead us to go to the hospital, the staff manager ended up asking for a lot of money for damage in the “jet ski” that was currently being used with other residents.. when I threatened to escalate it to tourism police because of lack of safety he after an argument dropped the fee. One of the most horrible stays ever.
Pros: The best location for relaxation. Beautiful and clean private beach. Small but clean pool. Wonderful rooms with beautiful decoration, comfortable bed, and very clear. The ocean side the panorama is amazing. The staff is professional and knows not only the local about the world standard service principles. Everybody was extremely kind and hospital to us. The hotel’s general manager is a professional, local man who knows what he’s doing very well. Highly recommend!
Pros: The manager was very helpful - he was the only good thing about the hotel, and went out of his way to fix the many, many issues with our stay.
Cons: Staff (other than Manager) did not speak good English, were not able to help, couldn't do basic maths, didn't know answers to standard questions (e.g. cost of an extra bed). The room was not clean, lots of insects. The toilet smelt bad. No one cleaned the room, until we asked 3 times. Wifi didn't work. Beach was tiny. AC leaked water.
Pros: Staff very helpful and sorted out problems speedily. Arranged drivers for us and were all round very helpful and friendly
Cons: Bathroom not the cleanest and we were initially given the wrong room and had to change the following day. No hair dryer in rooms and only 1 towel between the 2 of us at the first room
When you stay at The Long Beach Resort in Koggala, you'll be on the beach, within a 15-minute drive of Unawatuna Beach and Galle Fort. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Planning an event in Koggala? This resort has 11 square feet (0 square meters) of space consisting of conference space and a meeting room.
Pros: Room cleaning guy was good, kind and cleaning everything really well.
Cons: Mostly everything was not right is someway. Most of the people are not talking anything but one of Sri Lankan language. The facilities are old and malfunctioning. The WiFi randomly and frequently not working. The breakfasts are awful - I'd rather go to market and got some fruits for the price of the breakfast. Despite I ordered king size bed, in reality it was two single beds standing together. My general conclusion: if you want to go stay at Koggala, try renting some Villa.
Pros: There was a big variety for breakfast. Lovely, long stretch of beach, with smooth sand.
Pros: Since it''s a Beach Front hotel it was great. Staff was friendly. They delivered what they promised. Pool was great.
Cons: Breakfast time it was cozy.
Pros: This is an exceptional hotel with fabulous friendly staff. The best thing was the easy access from a smart hotel directly onto the unbelievable beach with a mile of empty golden sand with the surf rolling onto the shore. Asia has great beaches but this one is special.Clean, quiet and with scattered restaurants along the shore was a wonderful way to pass a January week with a walk into the hotel and no worries about sand !
Cons: Buffet was pretty good but no pinapples nor bananas during our week and bacon was highest quality and well cooked but being cooked to order is perhaps a little slow
Pros: Staff is very hospitable, we were given an early check-in and it was our second time to the Long Beach Resort, appreciate front office staff's attentiveness and great service. Thanks for everything appreciate, you all, I will definitely stay every time when I come to Galle for future businesses. Although there were so many hotels in Galle I always select Long Beach since it is a very calm place to relax amidst busy schedules. Walking through the beach at night was amazing. Although the property is bit old, overall it was fantastic.
Pros: Hotel is near the ocean with really beautiful beach! Staff is kind and attentive, food in restaurant is good enough. Rooms are clean enough, every day you will have a 1l of bottle.
Cons: Condition system was pretty old. And refrigerator with teapot was pretty old too. But everything else was good.
Pros: I WENT THERE WITH MY WIFE AND NABOUR FAMILY. WHAT I EXPECT THE HOTEL - I GOT MORE THAN THE EXPECT. FOOD WAS EXCELANT. TASTE , PRESENTATION AND ALL. EX: CHEF(MR.DINUKA) DID HIS BEST TO THE GUEST. ALWAS TAKE WITH THEM AND MAKE HAPPY. ALL SO F/B MANAGER AND HIS STAFF ( SORRY I DONOT REMEMEBER HER NAME . YOUNG GIRL WAS SERVED FOOD. I SEEN SHE HAVE A GOOD FUTURE FOR GO TO TOP. NEED MORE MANAGEMENT EDUCATION AND BEST TRAINING.( MAYBE BY HOTEL. )FROUNT DESK AND WHO WAS THE MANAGERES THERE. VERY GOOD TREATING TO THE GUEST. EXCELENT. ONLY ONE THING I LIKE TO MENTIONED , FRONT OF THE ROOM. PASSAGE WAS LITTLE " FUNGI" SMELL. YOU NEED TO THINK ABOUT IT. OTHER THAN ALL AREA SUPPEREB, EXCELENT. ONCE AGAIN THANK YOU ALL.
Cons: OH ! FOOD IS THE BEST. , LUNCH BUFFET,DINNER BUFFET , BREAKFAST BUFFET,SO MANY VERITIES.MACHING DISHES AND FLAVOURS, THEN RESTAURANT SERVICE IS EXCELENT. ROOM AND BATHROOM, SWIMMING POOL . ALSO BAR AND SERVICE STAFF THERE. ALROUND EVERY THIG WE LIKE VERY MUCH . AND CLEAN BEACH....
With a stay at Cantaloupe Aqua in Unawatuna, you'll be by the ocean, within a 10-minute drive of Unawatuna Beach and Mihiripenna Beach. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The Location was great! One of the best we had in sri Lanka. We stayed in the aqua chic suit. The view from the room with the huge glasse front was amazing! The room was really nice decorated. The view from the pool was also really amazing! breakfast was amazing too. the beach next to the hotel was beautiful, no tourism there! Shops are 10minby foot in Habaraduwa. First we were really worried, because the previous reviews were not that good. but the hotel exided our expectations!!
Cons: Extremely disappointed. Booked the hotel way in advance for my honey moon. Main reason we selected it was the room with jaqusi (aqua chic suite) facing the sea. On the way we were supposed to check in, few hours before, I phoned them to let them know we'll be arriving. ( One month ago they had already charged the entire free of Nearly LKR 30,000 /=. ) They told me they will get back to me in few minutes . Later they told me that the room is currently under renovation and they'll offer me a standard room. Doing such an act, on our honeymoon making us helpless is not something I will ever forget in my life. I would have easily booked a 5 star hotel from Galle instead of this boutique hotel. Customer service was terrible. When I told them I'll report it to consumers authority Sri Lanka, he said they'll give us an upgraded room, chocolates and fruit basket in complimentary. How ever none of those complimentary stuff they promised were given. I'm terribly disappointed about the hotel, and in future I will never use booking.com.
Pros: Nice ocean view from the front of the hotel, clean beaches either side of the hotel... good food in the restaurant at reasonable price, and restaurant staff were really nice
Cons: Seriously overpriced. From research and my experience in other hotels in Sri Lanka this should have been half the price- zero luxury, very basic rooms and facilities. Hotel has not been maintained at all- broken decking, dirty cushions on sun loungers, no WiFi in our room, broken aircon, tiny pool, lounging area was not relaxing. For the price we paid they needed to have fixed the WiFi and aircon, upgraded all their seating and sun loungers, and created a nicer vibe. It felt more like a motel than a nice hotel. We visited other hotels in the area which were so much nicer and when we looked they were half the price! Photos are not accurate :( That’s not even the worst part- the tuk tuk drivers that hang out outside the front gate are in some gang. They threatened our driver so he refused to come back, he said he was scared-the taxi company said they had real problems at this hotel in particular with aggressive behaviour from the tuk tuk drivers... and when we finally got someone to pick us up he also said they had demanded a massive ‘commission’ to let him through the gates, which he had to pay otherwise they were going to wreck his car!!! The hotel said they couldn’t do anything about it but it seemed like the security guard was part of the problem- he was friendly with them!!. No other hotel we went to had that problem so it must be an internal issue. That behaviour should not be tolerated- disgusting.
Pros: The food was good and location and outlook over the water was great.
Cons: Unfortunately we weren't happy with the service or accommodation overall and wouldn't recommend staying here. The place overall is run down and looks like it hasn't been maintained for the past 10 years. The staff were inconsistent and at times made us feel uncomfortable. It seemed that they were working for and with the "tuk-tuk mafia" stationed outside the entrance, the drivers seemed to have free reign as they would walk around the beach side and hassle you while trying to relax. The room "Chic Suite" did not live up to the images online, the floor was coming up, paint peeling off walls and the brown stain on bottom of Jacuzzi wasn't too enticing. The shower water pressure and heating was very poor, seemed the toilet spray was hotter and more powerful. I'd also recommend that you double check if you have paid before you arrive. They seemed to use the fact that the booking.com confirmation states the bill will be settled direct with the hotel at the time of arrival yet the payment was made at the time of the booking. One staff member stated they had no record of the payment and guided me to check the booking.com confirmation, another then stated it was all paid upfront and was fully non-refundable when we said we would like to drop a night off our initial booking.
Pros: The cocktails
Cons: The bathroom smelt and the sun loungers were broken
Cons: Disliked the fact that I paid over $200 for the Aqua Chic suite that didn’t have a functioning Jacuzzi and blinds that were impossible to adjust. Breakfast was very basic, and housekeeping were also a disappointment.
Pros: Excellent stay at Cantaloupe Aqua. It is located near the most beautiful beach in the area. The staff are is friendly and made our stay so enjoyable. The breakfast is beautiful and the decor is magnificent by. I would highly recommend to stay there.
Cons: Be mindful that all the tuk tuks at the entrance are over charging as it is a nice hotel. Also, I would recommend to buy water outside as they charge a very high price for it.
Pros: Great location - Relaxing to be right next to the sea. Our room was spacious and better than expected. Great staff, friendly atmosphere.
Cons: Somethings were a little tired around the room. The lock on the door is loose. Due to rooms being located over the kitchen there was a strong smell in the hallway. Although no smell in the room.

Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, a 24-hour front desk, and laundry facilities. Pros: Location, facilities ,food everything is good .Special thank goes to kosala for helping us so much.
Pros: Was stayed in dorm for 3 night. Can upgrade to buffet breakfast just only pay extra USD 6 for each. If not the normal breakfast also very enrich and fresh. Value the money. Relaxing and comfortable place. If u r a ECO friendly just bring ur empty bottle to the bar then they would like to refill filter drink water for u only charge LKR 200 for 3 night. They made everything clear and friendly. Beach and swimming pool all awesome and clean. Could like to spend all the day on the beach chair. Have small town and super market near by. Very good location.
Cons: If have female dorm that will be better.
Pros: It was total exceptional experience. First all the arrangements made as i requested in the booking. Location with clean beach and small but nice pool. Very attractive medium range hotel with nice architecture. We traveled with our baby one year old, so we thought we may face some issues about baby meals. But chef Lasantha Gamage and team given unbelievable serive at resturant with custom made food for our baby. That extra mile should praise. Highly appriciate that and help you gave feel like we are in home. Overall its high value for money and will visit for sure.
Cons: Nothing special, just about the AC in the room not compatible with room size, it is enough but can improve.
Pros: Excellent location and some rooms have great view to the ocean (on photo) Swimming pool is something like 20x8m Stuff is welcome and helpful Beach in front of the hotel is not highly suited for the swimming in the second part of the day because of currents Wi-Fi is bad (as it was mentioned in other reviews) but it's possible to buy cheap prepaid sim-cards in airport on arrival and have good 4G internet Restaurant and breakfast are good
Cons: 1. WiFi could be better 2. Soundproofing could be better 3. I was staying during the event of St. Patrick day (12 of March) and there were fkcing fireworks which have exploded close to the room window :-(
Pros: Everything on offer.
Cons: Only drawback I can think of is that the Pool is closed at 7pm, which i felt was a bit early. Maybe it is the standard but I thought better make it like 8pm.
Pros: All the staff is very helpful and The main chef was amazing
Located in Koggala, Koggala Beach Hotel is within a 15-minute drive of Unawatuna Beach and Galle Fort. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk and luggage storage.
Pros: Location Beach Staff
Pros: Service and the cheerful workforce.
Pros: Exceptional customer service. We faced an emmergency in the middle of the night and the hotel staff were extremely helpful. It's also a beautiful location.
Cons: The rooms and facilities were outdated. Some of the areas need better cleaning. The buffet is a bit limited.
Pros: Place and plage
Pros: Shower was awesome, room was very large and had a nice view from the balcony. Felt like home, didn't want to leave. Pool was OK, but smaller than expected.
Cons: There are these little geckos running around the walls and getting into the room somehow, as I know they are poisonous to the touch, that was a minor issue. Also the water in the shower is salty and rough, as it is like that in the whole area
Pros: Sea views , pool , staff
Cons: A very tired hotel which needs a good decor renovation.
With a stay at The Sandhya in Ahangama, you'll be on the beach, just steps from Kabalana Beach and a 3-minute drive from Stilt Fisherman. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, multilingual staff, and luggage storage. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Beautiful facilities, great staff, food was perfect. Our favorite parts where the design of the hotel and the breakfast. The hotel is located on Kabalana beach which is a quite small but wonderful beach. Much more calm than Weligama and the other more touristy beaches. Staff are so friendly and attentive. All in all - one of the absolute best hotels we’ve stayed at!
Pros: Everything. Staff is amazing, especially Navim (I hope that’s the correct name). Food is great, interior tasteful, the beach one of the best in whole Sri Lanka. Been here for the second time, cause we liked it so much
Cons: If you’re into a big pool then this is the wrong place, but come on, who needs a pool when you have this beautiful ocean?
Pros: The service was really good , people were helpful and very smiley Room was with a nice view of the beach
Cons: They could add a luggage rack in the room The transfer from the hotel to the airport was exceptionally expensive
Pros: staff were very welcoming and attentive. The service was amazing. They made sure everything requested was tended to. The architecture of the place is stunning. Very clean and modern.
Cons: Nothing. Everything was amazing!
Cons: Cramped property sandwiched between the main road and a small beach. Tiny, tiny pool. Condescending instructions left everywhere to not damage the design furnishings. Incompetent management with no business sense - the place is empty yet they charge sky high prices.
Cons: A bit too expensive with regard to similar places at this location
Pros: We spent 3 nights at the hotel in mid February and we loved it, the host and the staff were very welcoming and willing to help we felt quite spoiled. We got upgraded to the hotel suite, which it is really spacious and very tastefully designed and decorated. Breakfasts and all the food we had was really yummy, the cocktails well made, we loved them and we had a few.. the hotel sits on a nice beach with few surf schools, there are some restaurants in walking distance, it is perfect for relax and enjoy life in a beautiful country.

Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge, and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Condition of the bed linen was not satisfactory. Since it is not very comfortable to use what was provided, we use our own linen. Pillow cases do not look very clean ( washed and ironed)
Cons: Room preparation should include to switch on the AC and ventilation before arrival of the guest,
Pros: No breakfast. Useless hotel
Cons: Everything except pool
Cons: Why u are not Innvrud lunch and dinner.very bad.very bad.oooooo my money
Pros: It was very quiet with hardly other guests.
Cons: I arrived at the hotel being closed; no one informed me that I had to move to a different hotel beforehand. The breakfast was very poor and wifi reception is only possible standing at the front desk. Checking out was a disaster: after 6 attempts to pay with creditcard on 3 different machines I suggested to escort me to an atm to pay in cash. Trying to leave the hotel to do so I get 3 security guards jumping on me and threatening to call the police as if I am a thief. Complaining about this afterwards with the reception manager and the general manager of Tisara Hotels doesn’t help: from both I get no response. Even complaining about the fact that 2 wrong transactions are reserved on my creditcard (I paid cash) results in no answer.
Pros: Nice pool, large and a good temperature
Cons: Staff and service was very slow. One staff member was very rude to us at reception, and he made the stay quite uncomfortable. The rooms were run down but serviceable. Minimal food cooked for the buffets, take everything right away because if something runs out, it is not replaced. Internet only in the lobby and not even all parts of the lobby.
Pros: What a location!! Rooms 601 onwards, probably about 30 are facing the hotel's private beach. But the sea was rough for a swim. Pool is maintaining well. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Clean towels. Staff was helpful. Great value for the price.
With a stay at South Lake Resort Koggala in Koggala, you'll be a 1-minute walk from Koggala Lake and 13 minutes by foot from Stilt Fisherman. Featured amenities include a business center, express check-in, and express check-out. Event facilities at this hotel consist of a conference center and a meeting room. Guests may use a train station pick-up service for a surcharge, and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Very good
Cons: Since we were family and it was triple FB basis, we assumed that there will be an sofa or an extra bed. It was not there. Made us uncomfortable. 4 of us had to get shared a king size bed.
Pros: The hotel is quite good, with most of the rooms located around a small lagoon, over a gravel road from the main building. Rooms are spacious and comfortable and quite well appointed although some items needed replacing (exposed mains wires on my hair dryer, for example). The pool is great, and you can order drinks by the pool. The hotel is located the east side of town, which is really too far to walk to. What they don't tell you is that there is a railway track running adjacent to the property and it is a live line ! (You can see the tracks between the villas in my first pic). For food, while you can eat in, there is a restaurant called the South Beach located over the main road from the hotel, and less than a 5 min walk. The food here was OK, and not too expensive, and you do get to eat with the sand between your toes. For us, the service was very slow, but in fairness, they had a party of about 20 surfing school attendees in which may have accounted for the delay. My biggest complaint was the the underhand manner in which about 25% extra was added to the bill, in hidden charges. These are easy for booking.com to add in, so why not ? Its a deceitful practice that both the hotel and this site are guilty of.
Cons: My biggest complaint was the up-front payment taken from my card on arrival. It was way in exess of the "Total Price" shown on my reservation, and no invoice or statement was provided. After a lot of digging, it was the add-on City Tax, Service Charge, and VAT. This is a despicable practice and unfair to other hotels that show the total price. These charges and not openly shown, and to me, when a number of screen shots clearly say Total Price, well thats what it should be !
Cons: No beach front to enjoy
Pros: All the staff were first class I will mention them all on Tripadvisor. The swimming pool was immaculately clean and large for the hotel size. The local bird life was a highlight. Water monitors and chipmunks in the grounds. Soaring eagles above. Food was exceptional and really good value. The rooms are large with beds the size of two singles together and bathroom with walk in shower. The hotel provides boat safaris from its own jetty on Koggola lake.
Pros: I stayed in South Lake Resort for two days with my partner during my vacation. Resort is situated in edge of Koggala river with very calm and cosy environment. Got a warm welcome from the staff when we arrived. Food - Food is taste and you can customize menu according to your preference. Remember they won't have buffet menu. Cook and his staff seems friendly too. Some dish types are not available in their ala-carte menu which offer in more reasonable prices than in menu. Therefore, ask for it with the price Rooms - Room is quite enough stay for two people. However room's phone line didn't work and had to go for reception several times to ask needs. They had some wifi problem when we arrived and fixed eventually Surrounding - Hotel is located in very calm environment. You can visit Martin Wickramasinghe museum just five minutes away from the hotel and can have a boat ride on Koggala Lake which facilitate by the Hotel which is a nice experience for your busy lifestyle
Cons: They offer mini-bar in room. They didn't mention it is free of charge or anything at the beginning. Therefore, don't fell into that trap, always ask it. Once we went for our final payment only they mentioned it is not free of charge which cost 1800 LKR (Not worth for the price) Boat ride offer from the Hotel not worth for money as in my opinion. It cost 4000 LKR for go for all 5 island. However went only for Madol Duwa (Nothing much to view - just spent only 05 minutes) and Island call Cinnamon Island (where only 5 families live). Something call Herbal Island is really waste. It is not an island, it is situated few km away from Matara - Colombo main road (Cinnamon and Herbal islands are only business hubs). Didn't visit Island call Bird Island. As boatmen stated birds are not available in morning. During the ride we had fish therapy which cost 500 LKR per person Some staff members require more training
Pros: I really loved everything about the hotel. From the start the staff was very professional and friendly beginning with Ishani at the front desk - always with a smile. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. The location is wonderfully situated with a lake front and the beach is just across the road with the Sunset bar where you could definitely catch a wonderful sunset, although the waves can be too rough for a swim. The pool was lovely for an evening swim. All in all a wonderful experience.
A stay at Hotel Kabalana places you in the heart of Ahangama, a 3-minute drive from Martin Wickramsinghe Folk Museum and 11 minutes from Mihiripenna Beach. Featured amenities include express check-in, express check-out, and dry cleaning/laundry services. A shuttle from the airport to the hotel is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free valet parking is available onsite.
Pros: Closeness to surf break, the half board was good value, food was really good.
Pros: - Excellent location - Helpful staff
Cons: - The water faucet in the bathroom wasn't functioning well and general cleanliness of the room can be improved - Dinner available at the restaurant was sub par compared with the available breakfast and lunch - Time taken for check-in could be improved
Pros: Great hospitality superb location
Cons: Gets busy during weddings but is a great experience
Pros: Location on the surf spot
Cons: 1. We got 5 floor, elevator didn’t worked for all our vacation. 2. Every day suff forgot to clean our room, we needed every day to ask to do it. 3. Even when room was cleaned, can never. 4. Towels we not placed and we needed to ask
Pros: The view.
Cons: They didn’t clean our room in two days. After many calls they came. The elevator was not working during all our stay (4 days at the level 6) and we forgot one power ba k and shoes and nobody called us to informed us. The service was very poor
Pros: Great location very clean got upgraded to a suite which was lovely but shame the lift was broken
Pros: The hotel was perfectly placed for our attendance at a wedding at Mosvold Villa. The beach is beautiful and the room was big with a comfortable bed and beautiful views of the Indian Ocean.
Cons: The Egyptian theme is a bit much in places and the statues in the hallways a bit foreboding. The staff were slow to serve us - nearly impossible to get a cold bottle of water from anyone! The lift was out of service for half of our stay and the stairs are not air-conditioned so quite a hike up to the top floor. The outdoor area needs some attention and the garden furniture & sun beds are in desperate need of updating.
Pros: The view from room
Cons: Too much to list tbh. Conclusion, mich to be desired.
With a stay at Ocean Crest in Ahangama, you'll be on the beach, within a 15-minute drive of Unawatuna Beach and Kabalana Beach. Featured amenities include a business center, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge, and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Perfect location, right on the beach with a great pool and friendly staff. We will be back here! Great value for money.
Pros: Beautiful sea view room and amazing staff!
Pros: 1. Absolutely fantastic location. Cannot get any better. 2. Big room, really spacious, with an absolutely amazing balcony that is not more than 50 feet from the waves 3. Nice pool with clean water. Not big but good enough 4. Great piped music 5. Huge rooms with all necessary amenities
Cons: 1. Under-staffed (we were there in first week of January) 2. Not as clean as I would have liked it to be (dust under the bed, around the windows and doors). Ants floating on tables at breakfast. Tables not cleaned properly after some guest has gotten up after breakfast 3. Some fixtures are old and creaky 4. No access to the lovely beach from the sea. Have to get out of the property and walk on the busy Matara-Galle road for 10 minutes to get to the beach (not a big deal but it wasnt what I was expecting) 5. Reached at 1.45pm to check in and there was no food available. Not even a sandwich. There was no staff in the kitchen! had to find a restaurant 600 meters away to get some food 6. Its a one man army - one young guy serves the food, does the check-in (without seeking any ID papers), settles the bills, provides room service, takes breakfast orders etc etc. Which is great for the hotel but it does mean that you have to wait considerably if he is busy!! 7. Look and feel is that of a property that has its best years behind it. Feels like someone's home that has been somehow converted into a small, eight-room hotel
Pros: Amazing location, literally beach front. Great access for surfing (in the right season) Nice feel of isolation between main villages, despite sitting right on the main road. Easy enough access to Galle and elsewhere still. Great service!
Pros: Breakfast was lovely, the staff were great and very helpful. Bed was very comfortable and the room was a good size. Air conditioning was very effective.
Cons: We had a small child 9 months old, and they did not have a childs high-chair that was appropriate - it wouldn't fit to sit with us at the table which made feeding him difficult. I would suggest to get another high chair. Room had to be changed as we were given a room that we did not book at the start. But it was amended quickly and we were given the larger room we booked.
Pros: Very Super Service Hotel and facility
Cons: Sea front hotel
Pros: We spent 4 nights here during the time that the corona virus was having it's impact on the Sri Lankan society. The staff are really friendly and attentive. Even in these crazy times they remained stable and welcome. When the world returns to normal we will surely stay here again.
Pros: 10 min walk to kabalana surf spot, has a cpl of spots up front as well. Nice pool, nice view, great staff. Clean and well kept.
Cons: WiFi was a little choppy, but that's about it
Pros: Excellent hotel, very clean and comfortable rooms. Helpful and friendly staff, fantastic view and pool. Highly recommended :)

Pros: Location location location
Cons: Overall a little tired furnishings and decoration. But that wouldn’t stop us staying there again
Pros: The location peace and tranquility with the most attentive staff
Cons: Nothing could have improved our stay - perfection
Pros: Gorgeous location on an amazing and quiet beach. The resort is on the main road in Koggala, however we could almost not hear the traffic noise. The rooms with sea view are exceptional. You can see the ocean throughout the whole room, even from the bathroom, this is great feeling ! The resort is very nice and very calm, with a great swimming pool. Staff was very friendly and welcoming, gorgeous breakfast ! We definitively recommend this accomodation, especially if you wish to have calm and no stress
Cons: We were very happy with the accomodation, however we were suprised that the ocean is quite noisy especially during the night :-) this is not a complain, but seaview is as well "sea"noise :-) If you wish to buy something to eat or drink and some "souvenirs" you have to drive 1-2 kilometers from the resort
Pros: Close proximity to the beach.
Cons: Buffet breakfast was included and was never served hot.
Pros: beach 10 meters from door
Cons: very dirty in the room, very dirty fridge, even i ask to send cleaner as soon we arrived to the room. Old grey color from the time towels, We had problem with electricity, FIRST 2 DAYS FUSE GONE DOWN MAY BE 10 TIMES, WE REPORTED ON RECEPTION AND THEY EVERY TIME PROMISED THIS IS LAST TIME. NEXT DAY IN THE NIGHT HAD AGAIN ELECTRICITY DOWN AND IN THE ROOM BECOME VERY HOT BECAUSE WINDOWS DESIGNED TO NOT BE OPENED AND LEAVE DOOR OPEN IS NOT SECURE. IT WAS NO ONE AT THE RECEPTION, HALF AN HOUR WE WAS SEARCHING FOR EMPLOYEE, FINALLY WE ASK SECURITY GUY AND TO BE FARE HE CALLED SOMEONE AND ELECTRITIAN CAME IN THE NIGHT TO FIX ELECTRICITY AND ONLY NEXT MORNING FINALLY AFTER WE ASKED TO MOVE US TO ANOTHER ROOM, THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM.
Pros: This was one of the best hotels we’ve visited in Sri Lanka. Everything was great- food, room and staff very friendly. Beautiful beachfront. Overall we felt relaxed and didn’t want to leave! Best times ever :)
Pros: Food is great especially breakfast, drinks are not fresh made but you get plenty of food. Facilities are nice, however the beach is not appropriate for young kids, also the pool is not the most fun one. Staff is very friendly and supporting. Rooms are very nice and clean.
Cons: Not exactly a spot for families, location of the hotel is close to the beach and close to the Main Street. So it was quite noisy at times.
Pros: We are lucky to stay here) there are so friendly staff here.. and location.. location is gorgeous! We were living just on the beach! The beach is beautiful too. Stay here for 1 night and you’l stay here more)
