Poor service at desk
Pros: Hers agent did not come out. After a free minutes went behind the kiosk to see if anyone was around as no bell or instructions as to what to do if desk unmanned. Agent on phone so went back to front desk. 5 minutes later went back again, agent on phone, asked when we could get service, rudely responded “when I’m off the phone”

Wrong car, penalty for drop off
Cons: Hertz gave my 84 year old mother a huge SUV to rent! I rented her a full size sedan (Nissan Altima or similar), and when she got there, Hertz said it wasn't available. That is not ok. The SUV was far too large for her to drive, she isn't used to it, she had to sit up as tall as she could to see out, for the whole drive to Boise (she planned to drive there and back). I talked to her on arrival and she was in pain and upset. We decided she would not be driving it back to Sun Valley and I called and tried to get it to drop off in Boise at the airport. They said there would be a $100 charge. This is not acceptable. There is a reason we book what we book. It should've been not available to rent online if it wasn't available. I drove her home and she was in pain the whole way due to that car.

Cons: COUNTER WAS NOT OPEN WHEN FLIGHT ARRIVED.. I HAD PRE PAID RESERVATION .... i HAD PLANNED TO TAKE TAXI HOME DUE TO THIS PROBLEM BUT FELL ENTERING TAXI AND ENDED UP IN EMERGENCY ROOM WITH CUT THAT REQUIRED 22 STITCHES... VERY VERY UNHAPPY WITH HERTZ AND OUTCOME TO THIS RESERVATION..... KNOWING HOW THESE THINGS WORK I AM SURE I STILL GET CHARGED ! ! ! ! richardjmorgan@yahoo.com

bait and switch
Pros: Very nice, brand new car
Cons: My booking was made through carrentals.com for unlimited miles at a good price. Prepaid to lock in the price (nonrefundable). When I picked up the car, the contract was written for limited miles. I had to call in to Hertz customer service to upgrade the contract for a higher rate. Carrentals.com has no customer service phone line naturally. What a bummer!
