Pros:The rental companies are very picky when it comes to damage. They charge for the smallest marks. I would buy full coverage insurance (which I never buy). The roads are full of rocks, construction, and sand storms. Also beware of all the speed cameras. There is zero tolerance for speeding and their tickets are expensive!

Pros:Everything was easy, the car was clean and drove great.
Cons:Slow line to pick up car, and then long wait (~15 min) to get the car.
Pros:Pickup was fine and the vehicle was fine.
Cons:We were told to fill up the gas tank at the airport upon return. I asked if the price at the airport gas stations was higher than we'd pay at stations in Reykjavik. The Hertz rep said that the price would be identical. When we got to the airport to return the car, the gas stations wouldn't accept cash or our US credit cards. We tried both stations at the airport. No luck. So we handed in the car with half a tank, having wasted 20 minutes trying to fill up. We explained the issue to the trainee attendant at Hertz's returns desk and he told us there was nothing that can be done. They simply charged us the penalty rate for a non-full tank. This was highway robbery in my view. I won't be using Hertz again.

Cons:Misplaced key resulted in fee that exceeded entire cost of five day rental. Payment forced under duress!

Cons:My reservation had been cancelled two days prior for no reason - it took me 1.5 hours to get a car The air conditioning was broken The car gas tank registered full before it actually was, so I wasn't able to properly fill it up. Then I was charged significantly for gas when I dropped it off.
Cons:The website said open 24 hours. I got to airport desk at 2:00 AM and it was closed. There was a sign with a phone number...I called and it said the number was not in service. I found another international phone number online...that also was not in service. There was no one at the airport information desk. I was only in Iceland for the day and that is why I needed to pick up the car as soon as I landed. So the car was useless to me and I never picked it up. I need a refund

Cons:Staff is not very friendly.
Pros:Pickup & drop-off was smooth despite of rush. Fresh coffee and the espresso machine at drop off made us feel so good after a long day of driving in snow.
Pros:Car functioned well for the 2200km we did in one week
Cons:Checkin and checkout was slow, windows were dirty when we got car, drop off people weren't friendly
