I am always disappointed in the hertz in Hoover. Unfortunately it’s the only one close. The Kia I was first going to get was empty and a bit dirty. I took it back and asked for a different car I would wait for it to be cleaned since they said they had one but it would be an upgrade and needed to be cleaned. I paid the extra $30 and drove the Malibu to the airport. Just wasn’t a great experience. I’m unsure if it’s the location or drops offs, however the ppl seemed nice but overwhelmed.

I made a reservation for Friday am at 8 am several days in advance. After waiting in line about 15 minutes, they told me that they were still waiting for cars and didn’t have one for me and they would unlikely have one that day. I understand things happen but there was no communication that they could not fulfill the reservation. Very disappointing to say the least.

Hertz didn't have my reservation. Enterprise asked me to come back in a hour/...Caleb was wonderful to work with and had me in a car within the hour and made me feel like i was doing him a favor instead of the other way around, I will use him and enterprise from here on out.

Pros:

Slow, inconsiderate staff. Car was not ready. Other customers who arrived 20-30 minutes after me received their vehicles before I did. When I asked why there was a delay, the office staff went though a back door to “find out what was going on” but never returned. There was no other staff present in the main office area for 10 minutes.

Cons:

The car should have been cleaned and ready to go. I selected the 8:00 pickup time for a very specific reason. The car not being ready delayed my departure and created a significant inconvenience for me the rest of that day. The staff was slow and inconsiderate.

The booking was approved for a time after the location was closed and they were not able/willing to find a location that could rent on the same day. Was required to rent from a different company at the airport.

Pick up and drop off was extremely easy. The minivan was there ontime. I waited less than a minute before being waited on.

Very quick check in and return process

Cons:

The insurance I purchased for the rental didn't show in their system. Transmitting the data to the rental company would be nice.

Minivan

When I picked up the car, the system wouldn’t take my debit card, I had to use a credit card which I didn’t want to do. Then the guy processing my rental told the other employee, “It says do not rent this car.” She looked at the screen and said to rent it anyway. I asked what was wrong with the car and she said it probably just needs an oil change or something. I said I had to drive it across the country, was it going to break down in the middle of nowhere? She said, “It should get you there.” I didn’t have time to look for something else. When I started it, the tire pressure light came on so I stopped at a tire place and they put air in all the tires. Every time I started the car, it said, “Oil change required”, and every morning I had to get someone to put air in the tires, especially the front right tire. The psi was supposed to be 40, and every morning it was about 25. I’ll never rent from Avis again and will tell everyone I know not to as well.
