Cons: My only issue was that there was a leak in the tire, which was not explained to me at check in. There was a note around the car keys that said "slow leak," but the issue was never discussed with me so I overlooked the note. After driving the car for a few hours I received a low pressure warning which remained on throughout my rental time. I think explaining an issue like a slow leak during check in is ideal, so that the customer has the option of requesting a new car if they plan to drive a long distance.

Pros: Th car worked. The people there were nice enough and meant well.
Cons: The car had a seatbelt that sticks, no fuel cap, and the gas prepay was significantly more than gas in the surrounding area. It took a long time to get the car too.

Birmingham Dollar needs more staff
Pros: They kept a car for me even though they had to turn away other customers and my flight arrived late. Price was very good.
Cons: It took 30 minutes to get served at the understaffed counter. Car glass was dirty and car reeked of cigarette smoke.

Very good for the price
Pros: This is my 3rd time renting from them. I've never had an issue, and the price is excellent.
Cons: not much. Dirty car, especially the glass, Alamo needs to spend more time cleaning the inside and glass (inside and out, could barely see! Cleaned it myself, of course) and pay less attention to the paint job, paint job won't save my life, and I spent majority of time IN the car, not looking at it.

Cons: The Alamo booth isn't clearly labeled at the bhm airport. It's shared with the National rental booth but I didn't find that out until I asked one of the National guys where the Alamo booth was.

Quick service and very clean car
Pros: The car had 700 miles on it and was Bluetooth ready for hands free.
Cons: Agent was not very friendly but she wasn't rude either.... Just doing her job.

Don't try to change your plans!!
Cons: I was travelling for work this week and had to change my plans last minute so I had to switch my drop off location and I was charged an extra $350 which was more than I had to pay for the whole rental. I contacted Alamo's customer service who were extremely rude and said this is the rate and there is nothing they can do. The fact that I had their car and was forced to pay this amount felt like I was taken advantage of and had no choice in the matter.

Cons: Check in was a long involved pain, and once I got through it all, was told I was not able to rent a car because I didn't carry a major credit card and was renting for a one-way travel from ATL to BHM. Was largely inconvenient and was sent to another company that could accommodate. It cost me an extra hour in the airport and ended up spending a lot more. I wouldn't recommend Alamo or really Kayak for that matter.

Pros: Quick drop off and no hassles. Staff was friendly.
Cons: A little confusing from entrance and so many signs for all the different rental companies. Be nice to make them more uniform and better color coded to follow.

Pros: Pick up & drop off was quick and easy. Brand new car. Only 300 miles on it.

Cons: Would not rent me the car. I refused to use a credit card and my credit rating through whatever soft check they conducted prevented me from obtaining a car. I had plenty of money to rent a vehicle and was extremely embarrassed. None the less, Hertz had no problem helping me out and I obtained a vehicle in ten minutes. I will NEVER try and rent from Payless again and for the rest of my life I will willingly discourage anyone from renting with this company.

Good vehicle; counter personnel was lackluster
Pros: The vehicle met my needs at a very good price.
Cons: The counter agent looked disheveled and disinterested I was interested in purchasing the fuel and insurance options, but handed me the paperwork with everything marked declined (without asking). When I asked what the fuel option cost, he responded that he wasn't sure but he believed it was around $2.49/gallon. While it's possible that he was right, the price at the pump ranged between $1.85 and $1.99, so I believe he materially overestimated the cost so that I would not have him change the already printed paperwork. Further, he handed me keys with a form tapped to them noting that if I saw any damage larger than a quarter to mark it on the sheet and bring it back to him. I found several dents and scratches on the car (though non that likely exceeded the quarter-size threshold he specified), so I marked them and took the sheet inside. He took the sheet from me and I left. I later realized that I probably should have kept that sheet and have him initial it so that I kept the documentation that the car was received in that condition. All said -- my experience at the counter was below par, and I believe this staff would benefit from some additional training and a reminder that he plays a significant role in shaping the customer experience! Cons: Left my glasses in the car prescribed and I have been attempting for a week to get someone from lost and found to call left several messages and no response upset about that but the rental itself was fine.

Great with 1 exception
Pros: Renting a car from Payless was an overal great experience. Customer service was great, the car was clean, in great shape and comfortable.
Cons: I asked to drop off in a different location and if there was a cost. I was told I have to bring the car back to that location only. Even though renting a car from Payless was an overal great experience, I might not be able to rent from Payless in the future due to this doesn't meet my overal needs if I need to drop the car in a different location but can't.

Cons: Very hard to get into the parking location for Payless. Then the door to get to the counter was locked & a hassle to get in. Check in clerk was pleasant & helpful. Check out clerk was rude.
Cons: I filled the tank and was still charged by Budget for a full tank of gas. Is this the way they make money off people that travel? Charge them for filling the tank when it is full when they know they are already gone.

Pros: I liked the choice of vehicle (Jeep). The 2016 has some great features, once we were able to explore them. The price quoted was what I paid. It proved to be a very smooth ride for the most part. However, if you have longer legs, the back seat is not for you.
Cons: I had to go to two different locations to rent a vehicle because I was using a debit card. . . :( The second location was very helpful. The vehicle seem to slip out of gear at times but overall great ride. The wrong size back shield was given, so there was no way to cover items in the vehicle.

Cons: After making the reservation on-line and receiving confirmation almost 2 weeks in advance, I attempted to call the pick-up office....no answer on 3 occasions, even the morning of the pick-up. When I arrived no full size SUV's available and very rude associate. I waited for an hour and a half. On return I asked the associate to call a cab and was told he could give me the #, but couldn't call. Will never use Budget again.
Cons: when I called to discuss pickup, I was told "oh, I was going to call you! We have your reservation, but we don't have any cars. This caused me considerable inconvenience.

Pros: Harrison was so very helpful. He gave us a great deal on a lot bigger car then I had planned and it was wonderful to have all that room. Made for a awesome ride back to VA.
Also had a problem with being charged for Insurance which I already took out with Alamo for a different vehicle I was going to rent. But called customer service and they took care of it. Thanks
Cons: When we took the vehicle back to Norfolk Airport there was a few issues. I called they said on the recording they were open till 11:30 pm. Door said 10:00pm. Got there before 9:00pm not a soul in site.

Pros: We were late and the line was long, but they had us on the road pretty quickly. So glad for their late hours at Atlanta Hartsfield and for convenient after-hours drop off at Birmingham Shuttlesworth. Very nice car, too.

Somehow my car got booked NOT at the airport despite the fact I started by searching with the airport code. I had no idea.
Somehow my pickup was scheduled an hour before the pick up office was to close. I had no idea
Our flight got in late.
The combination meant that I would not be able to get a car without a second booking, outside of Kayak.
I called Kayak customer support to fix this. Kayak was "closed for the holidays"
RIDICULOUS to close customer support for holiday trips booked on your platform.

Cons: My fault that I accidentally booked a reservation that picked in downtown Birmingham and returned to the Birmingham International Airport. I meant to pick up at B-ham airport and return to the same location, but apparently I selected the incorrect address.
However, when I showed up to the airport, the Hertz representative was beyond rude and basically told me to F - off, that there was nothing she could do. The walk up rate she quoted me was $180 / day for a car. I immediately went to the Enterprise booth next door to Hertz and got a car for $34/day. By the way, I'm a Hertz Gold member and have used them frequently. Never again - terrible, terrible experience.
