Dubbed as one of Kaanapali’s beachfront mega-resorts, The Westin Maui Resort Spa has more amenities than any other hotel in its price range. Couples looking for a getaway or honeymooners wanting to relax, take note that this family-friendly resort is packed with children.
The Maui Westin is in the center of Kaanapali Beach and is Hawaii’s first master-planned resort community built in the 1960s. It is adjacent to Whalers’ Village, an open-air shopping mall with beachfront restaurants and a free museum, and 10 minutes from the Ka’anapali Golf Resort and Ka’anapali Golf Course South. The resort offers a free shuttle service to these locations, the airport, and to downtown Lahaina.
Renovations have brought Hawaiian style furniture, fresh carpet, earth tones, and glass-encased showers to the 759 rooms and suites. The Westin's comfortable, modern guest rooms feature signature Heavenly beds that include pillow-top mattresses, a white down duvet, and five down pillows. Traveling conveniences such as mini-fridges, coffeemakers, flat-screen TVs, and free coffee and bottled water are standard in all rooms, and Wi-Fi is free. The suites and premium rooms offer more space with separate living areas and include ocean views.
Westin Maui offers tons of above-average amenities like four restaurants, and a full-service spa and gym. The 87,000-square-foot aquatic playground featuring five pool, two waterfalls, an adult-only pool, and 120-foot twisting water slide are main attractions for families. A full schedule of activities, including an on-site Luau are available at the resort and the kids’ club also offers entertainment.
Direct access to swimmable and sandy Kaanapali beach, plus lots of exclusive amenities make this resort a must for family vacations.

Pros. Housekeeping and spa staff were excellent.
Cons. Entire "resort" area unusable. Most pools closed. Those that were open were choked with diesel exhaust and unimaginable jackhammering between 9 to 5 every weekday. Even the spa quiet area was affected. All adults-only areas closed without notice. We spent extra money to stay here. We could have had more comfort for less money staying in a van on the beach.
Pros. It was a perfect getaway!
Cons. Rooms are beautiful but small.
Pros. The staff at the Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Kaanapali was professional, courteous, sympathetic, and attentive. They did a great job in resolving the issue that Getaroom.com [which Kayak.com outsourced to] created.
Cons. I'll have to think twice when making a reservation through Kayak.com. When I made my reservation, Kayak.com outsourced the reservation through some 3rd party vendor that I had never heard of before...Getaroom.com. I should have trusted my gut instinct and not gone thru either. When I arrived at the Westin, the staff informed me that I had no reservation on file. So I called Kayak.com, whose automated voicemail said they were closed. Fortunately, I was able to get in touch with Getaroom.com, but their staff had me wait over the course of one hour! The customer service rep from this online vendor kept putting me on hold for 15 minutes at a time. It was unprofessional and amateur at best. They said they had my reservation and that they sent it to the Westin. Yet the Westin never received it until an hour and a half after numerous attempts to get Getaroom.com to act on getting the propper email file sent. I was so tired from the ordeal that I was over the whole booking through Kayak.com. Beware.
Pros. I saw reviews about the spa in travel & leisure magazine. And it and the staff met expectations. They were amazing. Also, the hotel itself is beautiful!!
Cons. The restaurant staff and the guys selling the Maui Jim sunglasses need some training on customer service. They were pretty rude. I was able to avoid the wait staff by eating else were but the towel sunglasses guys I had no choice.
Pros. The resort is beautiful, I had a mountain view (the cheaper rooms) and the view is still amazing. There is a new shopping plaza immediately next door with restaurants and ice cream shops. Great outdoor pools.
Cons. This resort is not cheap, which is okay. What is not okay is you have to pay to rent a crappy plastic chair to use when sitting at the beach. And then you have to pay additional money to rent an umbrella. And if you want to sit in a shaded seat by the pool you have to pay for that too. Totally bogus.
Pros. Had a wonderful time at the Westin and would go back. The staff was awesome. They had a mini fridge in the room which worked out great for us. You can go snorkeling right off the beach at the Westin. Whalers village is right next door as well.
Cons. The only thing we didn't like was that there wasn't a table in the room. There was a desk but not a small table to sit at and eat a little something the two of us.
Pros. Love the location and the surrounding facilities, mall, restaurants, etc.
Cons. Staff assigned me and my wife a room with 2 double beds for a week long stay in the most romantic place on earth. It was just too bad we could never sleep together the whole week. Ruined the whole trip for me.
Pros. The flamingos and swans were absolutely beautiful.
Cons. The pool was a little cold.
Pros. The Bed! The Adult-only pool area (though the kiddos still managed to sneak in due to irresponsible parents) Proximity to beach Nice shower, but small bathroom area overall
Cons. Lack of good food options Loud children in the hallways (maybe consider making some areas of this hotel for singles/couples only?) No fan in the bathroom
Pros. Beautiful grounds and facilities. Great service and within walking distance to many restaurants.
Cons. Crowded most of the time. charged for many things that were included with resort fees elsewhere such as paddle boards.
