I was unaware that I needed to have my credit card with me. When I booked the rental, it didn’t advise me on what I needed to bring in order to pick it up. I have rented vehicles before and was able to use a debit card. So, I was stranded in Lexington instead of being where I needed to be.

I paid deposit online it was supposed to pay the rest when picking up the vehicle. When I went to go pick up and check in for the vehicle it wind up being $20 more than I was told but it still wasn't bad

The car drove well and was comfortable

I never actually talked to anyone from Enterprise as both pick up and drop off were handled by a representative at another company's desk. If I had known that, I could have used Budget or some other company and paid a cheaper rate. The car was absolutely filthy. Lots of dirt and bugs on the front grill, animal hair in the luggage area and stains on the back seat. I had to give some authors a ride to a book launch party and was embarrassed by the condition of the car. Drop off was confusing since I had never used that airport and expected someone to be available in the lot to look at the car and take the keys. In the airport, I went to the only desk with an attendant to complete the rental process and told her about the filthy, unsanitary condition of the car. She was unconcerned. My first (and last) bad experience with Enterprise.

Cons:

It would have been nice if the branch we used was open later so we could physically hand the rental back in. We had to drop it off and leave keys in a drop box. Minor issue, though.

The car was comfortable and easy to drive

Cons:

Booked the car online, but when I arrived to pick my car up, the staff said there were no cars available. Had to wait over an hour for a car. The car also reeked of cigarette smoke. Vincent was friendly, but the rest of the staff was unfriendly and clearly didn’t care about the customers. Would not book at this location again.

Hertz did not have a rental vehicle available for me when I tried to pick up my vehicle. I had to wait 5 days to get a vehicle. That I had a reservation seemed to mean nothing to Hertz. Customer service staff tried to be nice but ultimately I was not helped.

Hertz's reservation system (or kayak?) allows people to continue reserving and confirms their reservation even when they don't have vehicles available. Local representative was nice about it, but still wasn't able to rent a car.

Hertz canceled my reservation the morning of, with no help or instruction to refund my money or find a replacement. The reason being "no inventory" - what was the point of reserving the vehicle if Herzt would not honor that? Leaving me only hours to find another option. I was deeply dissatisfied.

Leslie was very helpful and pleasant.

Cons:

The rental location was difficult to get into and our of, there was no wayfinding--no clearly designated area for parking, or returning the vehicle. It took an extremely long time to get the car--the car wasn't ready when we arrived, despite our reservation being made at least a month in advance.

I was able to choose the exact car I wanted and was even able to reserve a cooler and boogie board to use for the week. The car was in like-new condition. The free shuttle was convenient, fast and the drivers were nice. The location was a little bit further from the airport, but it wasn't a problem.

It was the first time we rented via Turo, so I don't have a good base reference to compare in general, and can only compare to car rental experiences with commercial fleets (like Budget or Enterprise). In general it was okay -- we made it to where we were going and back, with no major issues. It's doable. However, there were some "surprises" where things didn't quite got as we expected: * We made rental reservation with expectation that we're picking up at the airport. When we got there, it turned out that the car is not at the airport, and the address given to us turned out to be what seemed to be Portland's airport Fire Rescue Tower (where, obviously, we can't even walk to or be at). We called the owner, and turned out that the car is at some house that's "not far" from the airport, and gave us new address. So additional expense of taking Uber/Lyft to get to the car (and apparently that address exists in two neighboring towns, and somehow Uber/Lyft took us first to the wrong one, so we had to take another ride, but that's not a Turo issue, just more expense as a consequence of car not being at the airport as promised). * When we got there, we called the owner to get the keys: "-- Keys are under front door's floormat. -- Nope, they're not there. -- Then try mailbox? -- Yes, they're there." The owner wasn't there, which is okay to do this all remote, but would be nicer if owner was in general "on top of things" such as where the car is and where it is expected to be picked up, where exactly are its keys, etc. * Then owner requested that prior to return we take the car to be washed and cleaned inside and out. We neither planned on looking for car detailing places in Portland, nor for time that it would take away from sightseeing, nor for extra substantial expense it would be. We pushed back and the owner backed off saying that he'll let it go due to confusion with pickup location (and apparently he didn't send some email that he was supposed to send, or something along those lines). * And while the car wasn't too dirty, it wasn't clean to begin with (which made detailing request that more amusingly odd). Crumbs on floor and seats and luggage compartment. Worst part was that windshield was dirty on the inside that was minor unpleasant at daytime, but as driving progressed into night time, it was quite significant as it was blurring lights and affected visibility substantially. * We also added additional driver thru Turo and let the owner know. The owner requested that we send him picture of drivers license directly to him. We refused (as it didn't seem right, given that Turo is the one that manages that aspect) and he backed off. * Of course, additional expense of Uber/Lyft after return drop-off as we weren't dropping it off at the airport as originally planned. So all in all we probably spent additional $50-60 in Uber/Lyft for getting to and from cars location instead of it being in the airport, and lost about 3+ hours for dealing with additional unplanned travel. The rest was okay. Car drove fine and didn't give any problems.
