We like to stay at the Embassy because we like the made to order breakfast and the managers reception. The rooms are large and comfortable. We will return next year! My only complaint is that they give you only one wash cloth.
Staff was great. Rooms were very nice. Breakfast was great too. Great value.
Once you check in, you may not want to leave until check out. Everything under one roof is provided. We were greeted in a friendly manner. Very nice atmosphere in the lobby and center courtyard. While a free shuttle was advertised, it had been booked by a whole company for 2 hours in the early morning. a little frustrating, but the staff did suggest alternate transportation (Uber) and that did get me to where I needed to go. The opportunity to eat a complimentary light snack and beverage was appreciated after the stressful I94 drive Corky's Pub was good food at a fair price, fast and efficient wait staff. Made to Order breakfast was wonderful from 6-9 am! Wonderful Chef! PARKING $$$ While absolutely no fault of the hotel, the construction mess around the Capitol is very stressful. People drive too fast and a bit rudely. Be prepared and drive attentively. Not enough parking, It is quite expensive to park around this area.$15/day in the hotel lot for registered guests. Arrive early to get a spot.
We liked that it's close to the freeway -- easy on, easy off. And we really loved the breakfast in the morning -- so much better than a hotel's standard continental breakfast. Was a beautiful, luxurious little getaway for our little family (2 adults and a little baby).
Very nice hotel, large rooms, fantastic included breakfast. The only downside was the highway traffic noise, which was inescapable. Request a room that doesn't face the freeway.
Needed to be close to the hospital. Daughter was very ill. Didn't know how long we needed to stay. The staff went out of their way to accommodate our needs. Would recommend this establishment. Comfortable, clean rooms. Laundry available. Food was excellent. Thank you!
Beautifully maintained historic hotel in quiet downtown St Paul. Very clean and quiet rooms Need a regular fridge and expensive snacks.
Everything in the hotel is beautiful and tasteful. Our room was great, bed was comfortable, loved the robes. One of the elevators was out of order, we mostly used the service elevators to get up and down. We were not particularly impressed with the staff. They were adequate, not really cordial. Pokemon players outside at night were creepy.
Convenience to Wilkins auditorium It was not as nice as I expected. The room was average. Bedding average hard bed.
Great location when attending an event at the Excel Center.
Very friendly staff. Top-notch accommodations. Excellent location in the heart of St. Paul.
Historic elegance No
You can see they put thought and effort into the decor. The beds were very comfortable.. The staff was very helpful and it was obvious they care about what they do. We especially appreciated help from Lori at the front desk. She got us information about an event in Milwaukee and then found a detailed map of that area, showing one-way roads. She was even able to tell us how much parking was going to cost. The hotel is a great value. We would definitely stay there again.
Updated room Very clean Free coffee and water Parking not included
The old world feel about the place. Attentive staff. Exercise facilities. Reasonable cost.
The room - spacious with nice TV, and love the hardwood floors The lobby area - beautiful architecture, comfy chairs The staff - not very helpful, couldn't suggest places to go eat other than "go to Minneapolis - there's nothing good here" Shower - very small Location - granted it was a Thursday, but the hotel felt dead and there was no one at the bar, so staff from the front desk would walk over to the bar to serve people as they came up, and when we finally tried to go out every place nearby was closed or practically empty
Charming Hotel! Beautiful, romantic atmosphere. Multiple lounges with plenty of space to hang out. I had a king delux, with 2 beds, and 2 bathrooms! The beds were really comfortable, and the full kitchenette was much appreciated. The gym and pool were top notch (St Paul Athletic club) The free breakfast was great. Location is 4 blocks to Excel center or Science museum. The window blinds were not enough to fully darken the room, I would have appreciated curtins too.
I love the fact that you use an actual key to get in your room. I love how classy it is yet simple and humble. The view of downtown St Paul is amazing. you are right outside of the lightrail which is very convenient if ur flying or taking the bus. oh yeah and the man I brought. That was the best part! The free breakfast was free for a reason. soft boiled eggs or boiled. The waffle tasted old. fruit was frozen and not fresh. So as it thawed it wilted.
Friendly staff, nice hotel. I like nice hotels and this is one. Only noteworthy problem was that I found a pile of a previous guest's clothes in the closet. The pillows were kinda strangely designed and I'm not sure if it was comfortable because I was exhausted, but slept well.
Beautiful and comfortable accommodations. Nothing. It was very nice.
It was very quiet and we slept quite well We would have preferred 2 Queen beds instead of a king. We asked for 2 queens when we booked but did not get them.
I enjoyed my stay at The Hampton Inn. A bit more cost than average for a room but cleanliness and service made up for it. It would be an excellent stay if it were a little less expensive.

Very clean with an excellent staff!
Best Complimentary Breakfast in 30 years hotel business travel none
Location for our specific needs. Check-in time for the hotel was 3 PM. We arrived after 3 PM and the room was not ready. I asked if they could assign us another room and they offered a room on the smoking floor, we are non-smokers so that was not acceptable. We had to leave and return.
good beds tight parking spaces
Nice staff, quiet 11:00 am checkout stinks
Nice quiet hotel with lots of amenities and a great continental hot breakfast!
The staff was great and the room was very clean.
Nice room, comfortable bed. It was busy, several hockey teams staying, but quiet. Great breakfast selection.
Very nice hotel. Great pool and hot tub. Loved the waffle bar at breakfast. Hotel was a little out of the way. That was my only complaint.
convenience, location, wonderful breakfast buffet. quality faciity
The front desk staff was great especially a young woman who looks like the movie star from Juno...Ellen? Do not recall her name but she was fantastic and so helpful! No baggage help or bellman. Restaurant was only open limited hours and no room service. I would only recommend this hotel if the price is right and with certain limitations.
The restaurant inside the hotel was fairly good and quick. The rooms were cute and cozy. My bf loved the bed mattress. The lobby had a relaxing feel to it with the neutral tones and fireplace. Hotle has been updated with modern taste. The hotel is attatched to the skywalk system which was great. On the way back from the hockey game at the Excel Center, we walked through the skywalk. You never have to go outside in the cold, very clean in there.
Cookies at check in, comfortable beds and pillows Waking up to a call from the front desk at 8:30 in the morning on a Saturday after being out late. Not many restaurants in the immediate area.
Friendliness of staff; comfort of bed!
Doubletree was wonderfully comfortable and affordable! They even helped us check in several hours early after our red eye, so we could nap. Thanks for a great trip and a much needed sleep.
Just fine Just fine
This hotel is in the heart of St. Paul. Walking distance to the Excel Energy Center and many dining options. Room was clean. I would stay here again. Temperature control panel in the room did not work. Had to open the window in February to cool down the room.
I loved the modern look of the hotel. The bedding was of good quality, which is a huge plus for me! We had a beautiful view of the river from our room. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to Xcel Energy Centre, which was our destination, so I liked the proximity of the hotel to the venue. Overall I was very happy with my one night stay.
We were given an updated room. While generally nice it was a bit cramped with two queen beds. The staff were friendly overall. A bit cramped even though it was a updated room. While the staff was generally friendly, getting someone to answer a phone at the front desk and the Valet was slow and frustrating.
Very clean rooms and beds were comfortable. We had a newly renovated room, it was small but very nice with a lovely view of the river. Good location. Staff was helpful. The cost of the room was more than I'd ever paid. I was also under the impression that the parking fee was included in the price of the room, which was not the case.
Good location for my needs. Very friendly staff. Clean room. Music in the courtyard area should be reduced or turned off at night.
The breakfast was good and the lobby had an interesting decor. The hotel pool was dirty. We found clumps of hair on the bottom and deflated ballons floating around. It rained the night we were there and the floor under the windows was wet. Remote from anything else in the area.
I liked how spacious the room was, the free breakfast, and the parking was close to the entrance I didn't like that the room that I booked (King), wasn't what I received (Double Queen), The room was smoke free, but smelt like smoke as soon as you entered, and the room was so warm and had no way to control the heat other than 2 other temperatures. This was good for a one night stay, for which we used the room to get ready for a concert and sleep
The staff allowed us to early register, continental breakfast an extra day and kept our luggage safe for 10 hours after check out. Amazing place. no elevator
Very convenient to daughter's apt. Easy to find room. Wonderful breakfast selections. Nice quiet rooms. This is the 3rd time we have stayed here and will do so again.
Was fine for a one night stay. Construction going on.
Interearing, historic building with really cool design. Very unique. Comfortable beds. Free parking. Free breakfast was decent. Had all the amenities I was looking for (pool/hot tub, business center). Decent location, depending on your needs. The main problem, and for me this was a big problem, was security. Our room was located right next to an exterior door in the very back corner of the hotel, which opens up to the back parking lot. We noticed right away that the lock was broke and so anyone could enter without needing a key card. This wouldn't have been a huge problem accept the door to our room did not shut and lock without pulling it tightly closed behind us. We also noticed this right away and made sure it was locked any time we left. The room cleaners, however, did not. After a day out we returned (through the unlocked exterior door) and could see right as we walked in that our hotel room door was noticeably ajar. We went in and made sure that none of our belongings were missing and that no weirdos were hiding in the closet, and very luckily everything was fine. The worst part was that the lady at the front desk, although very nice and smiley, seemed completely oblivious to the situation they put us in. When I told her about the broken lock on the exterior door she seemed shocked, then later went on to tell me that she actually ordered a new lock earlier that day. Call me crazy but one thing I really expect out of a hotel is at least a little bit of security and safety. I can't help but wonder what they would have done if anything had been stolen from our room. At any rate, if you're staying in room 118, make sure that all the staff know they need to take extra care to make sure your door is locked, or at least closed all the way.
No street noise. Very nice breakfast.
The size of the room and the helpful, friendly staff. The breakfast lady was great!
The history and the look of the Hotel. The bed was not comfortable and must have been old. The room and hallways needed attention with some windex and a fresh coat of paint.
The staff was very friendly. Very pleasant environment. The bed was terrible.
We stayed at this propertry a year or so ago for my sons wedding. This weekend was another event, the christening of his son at nearby St. Anthony Village. We really appreciated the space, the managers reception, but especially the great breakfast.
I recently stayed here during the 2016 U.S. National Figure Skating Championships which took place in St. Paul. This hotel is really nice, tucked neatly right off of I-94. Was easy to find and is in a quiet buisness park just outside the Minneapolis Metro area. Check in was seamless (I used e-check in) and they had everything ready to go. Really nice staff at check in. The rooms are very nice. Modern decor and very clean. I stayed on the south facing side (718) which meant no noise from the Interstate. My room was the two room suite but is really more like 4 rooms with a sleeping area, common area with sofa, kitchenette/mini-bar, and bathroom. Everything was really clean and comfortable. The bed was heaven. Having the microwave and mini-fridge came in handy. The bathroom very spacious...plenty of towels. Lots of closet space and the floor was really quiet...never heard a peep. The breakfast was delicious as well. Ate there most mornings. Made to order omlettes and everything else. Attending an event in St. Paul I had been concerned I was staying a bit far away but the travel time to St. Paul was only about 15-20 minutes...super fast. Just get on I-94 till you get there. The hotel is really only about 7-10 minutes from downtown Minneapolis. Very accessible. I can't say enough good things about this hotel. The price was perfect as well. Really upscale stay without breaking the budget. All staff always with a smile and very friendly. Stay here! Nothing!
The view from the seventh floor was wonderful, we were able to see the Minneapolis skyline and the Earle Brown Heritage Center. The trees were just starting to turn and it was simply beautiful. The sound proofing was incredible. There were 200 hockey students staying the same weekend we were there, with some in the room next to us and we did not hear a peep from them when in our rooms. Could sometimes hear them when in the hallway, which didn't bother us at all, after all, they are kids. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of fresh food, which could not have been easy as the hotel was booked, on top of those 200 hockey students. Overall a great experience and we think we have found our "home" away from home when we go to Minneapolis to visit family.
Ruddy's has very good food Pool not heated. Rudy's uses hand towels instead of of napkins. Ordered a $58 bottle of wine, young man brought it out opened; they need wine training. Hotel decor very dated.
The pool deck was dirty and smelled. The hot tub water was brown.
Clean, good value for the money. Bed pillows were way too thick. I ended up pulling a pile of clothes out of ny suitcase to use as a pillow instead!
Breakfast was okay Exercise facilities was a joke. Stair stepper kept coming loose as I was using it. And treadmill would catch and I couldn't use it
Nothing Everything... Room smelled gross, bathroom was small and too close to beds, pool was broken
Secluded area. AwY from traffic. Needs a hot tub in pool area A more reasonable price breakfast for hotel guests
Location was great. Front desk staff was awesome!!! Lights on the front of building shined in our room all night. Even with curtains drawn. House keeping did not leave towels 2 of the 4 days we stayed.
Bathroom was clean but is very old an needs make over Bed was a little hard an looked like everything was from the 80's.
Really dissappointed with this place. It smelled bad and was not very clean. I have never stayed at a worse hotel. It was had to find, says it is a Days Inn. Didn't even have a normal type of cart to bring in things. It was dirty in the corners and just didn't feel very safe there. The only clean thing was the sheets! Breakfast was just adequate. The orange juice was watered down till it barely tasted like orange juice. Definitely not a 2 star place to stay.
Bathroom was horrible, water wouldn't drain, no staff to fix. Moved to another room and we couldn't get the door open, third room had bugs on pillow.
The continental breakfast was awesome! Nothing
Breakfast, and swimming pool Needs remodeling,
The absolute best breakfast, a 4 star breakfast !!!
Needed a suite for bridesmaids to get ready. It was perfect!!
Connected to a Bar & restaurant

Parking was easy and free The smell, perfume smell in all the hallways and the room too, much too strong
The staff at the hotel was AMAZING! We didn't actually get the opportunity to stay at the hotel due to website reservation issues, but the front desk staff was very helpful and accommodating while we were finding alternate lodging.
staff always friendly they do thier best to make sure guests r comfy. breakfast is always ready on time and is exceptional for a hotel breakfast. the hotel is a little older and it shows but for the price its not bad. internet is free and works well arrived b4 3,checked in&told 3pm.room wasn't set. one was avail.tried help aguest with incidentals fee insteasd of 20 clerk charged entire room to my card. situation was remedied but if you stay be readyfor 1 of front desk staff to mess up, not intentionl
Larger breakfast room than most motels. Plenty of pool towels in pool area. Motel was very outdated, dirty, and musty smelling. When I think of Country Inns I think of NICE places to stay. NOT the case with this one! If I were Carlson, I wouldn't want to be associated with this motel. It was definitely NOT 2 1/2 star quality
the receptionist was great! I had some noisy neighbors, Ny placed me late at night! Breakfast was great, too. Fruits, B&G, yogurt, eggs, rolls, etc. Comfortable bed. Nothing.
Cheap & bed was reasonably comfortable. Halls were dirty. Somewhat of an odd smell. Had a daddy long leg spider in our shower!
everyone was helpful and friendly, room was very nice and clean. The hotel had a starbucks and food off the lobby, also free newspapers. Even though a lot of people were there for a college game the hotel was very quiet. I plan on staying there again.
Hotel felt very clean and modern; smelled good (that is a big thing for me :) I liked that it felt like it was tucked back away from the hustle and bustle Nothing that can be changed. It is a bit close to the highway which makes it difficult to converse out on the patio but the scenery out there was absolutely beautiful.
It's farily pedestrian friendly, though not for lovely walking. But the walking trails are well kept. The staff is great. Rooms are comfortable and neat. It's a handy in and out to the highway. It's in a business park area. I prefer a neighborhood location, but it is very handy to highways. I had troble opening the window. I think I stayed there once in summer and the windows wouldn't open. This is a major drawback for me. The back entrance was very smoky. I mentioned this to the front desk and they said they were aware and were trying to find the smoker. (I met one man smoking there on my way out so hopefully he was the only one.) The rest of the hotel was Aprl fresh though.
Nice facilities and a nice helpful staff. A little noisy. Our room faced the main highway. We heard sirens from emergency vehicles multiple times.
we booked a king room and got a double room, not impressed by that got a double room instead of the king we reserved
Staff provided exceptional customer service. Will stay again.
I did like the restaurant and the bar at the hotel. Many things
Clean Dated Nothing said it was under construction Hotel stated it had a restaurant in the hotel, but that was under construction and closed when we were there.
The room was Very nice and Comfortable. The attached bar/restaurant was very nice as well.
Proximity to Xcel center. Free shuttle to downtown. Very dated decor throughout hotel and in the room. Bathroom was very small and made me feel like a giant while taking a shower. The entire place seems extreme old, outdated and not well maintained. Pool area was dirty, the showers did not work and there was a lot of dust on top of the faded, threadbare umbrellas at the tables surrounding the pool. I will absolutely try another hotel before staying here again.
Front desk and housekeeping staff were friendly. Shuttle service was nice & friendly the first night we used it. We biked & walked the rest of our stay bc it was so close. Room was clean, bed & pillows comfortable. Room size was adequate (bathroom small for two people). A mid-range motel & you pay for location. No continental breakfast or late night eats. We sat down at the restaurant for drinks and the bartender wouldn't serve us table side, only at the bar, so we left. No menu in the rooms for the restaurant. We ordered Pizza Luce instead, which was quite good. Lots of road noise from the interstate, fyi.
The shuttle that was provided to nearby events was very handy. Staff responsible for cleaning room was friendly and did a great job. For the price, a microwave and refrigerator should have been provided.... continental breakfast, also. The in-room temperature controls did not seem to have any effect on the room temperature - it was variable.
