8.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean place with a nice breakfast. The staff was really nice.
Cons: The noise from the freeway seem to be very noisy. I attribute this to the gap on the doors. I think that if some weather stripping were placed there, it would cut the outside noise in half.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. Room was clean and smelled fresh. Accommodates dogs and has a grass area with pick-up bags and seating.
Cons: During my stay the roof was being repaired and the noise started at 8am. Would have liked it quiet for a couple more hours.

Pros: The owner took such good care of us. She made my husband and I feel like family. I wasn’t feeling well in the morning and went out to the deck and sat down and she brought me a blanket and made me some tea. And made the best cupcakes! I instantly felt better. At the end of our trip I couldn’t help but give her a big hug. She catered to us the whole time. Would definitely recommend.

7.0 Good
Pros: it was a nice place but over priced . and I told them that the toilet would not flush and they said oh yes that happens ?
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Book the suite! Very comfortable and spacious, with great views of the river and valley. Staff was great and breakfast was healthy and filling. Our anniversary fell right in yhe middle of two weeks of travelling with our kids and friends. Left the kids with the friends and escaped to Bella Vista for a night. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Cons: Our stay was too short.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was gourmet quality and filled us up for the rest of the morning. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the facility was well maintained and comfortable. We loved the pool and jacuzzi in the back, and the view from our room was breathtaking. I am already planning on returning to this B&B next year!
Cons: Too bad that it is not closer to home!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everyone was very accommodating even though we were delayed arriving. Beautiful views!
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Claudia was the main hostess on the property. She was lovely and one of the best parts of our stay. Walking in felt like a breath of fresh air and was accompanied by a lovely view with a great natural stone styled pool and "beach" that blended in with the landscape. The pool even has a water slide and hot tub we enjoyed almost every night! I had a massage with Barb the day before the wedding for 60 minutes she made time stop and melted all my muscles and problems away!! HIGHLY recommend a massage with Barb if nothing else! She was lovely and really cares about the people she works on. Loved being able to go out and see the stars every night and be in nature. Breakfasts were delicious and not over filling. We stayed in the area for a wedding and felt very comfortable in the bed and breakfast. We came up for the weekend for a wedding and found this place close to the venue. Great place for a secluded romantic getaway. PS. Be sure to give some hello boops to the little black hospitality kitty Muffin who is usually perched on the front steps.
Cons: Guest who stayed in the Rio Vista suite - With everything I have enjoyed of this place I will say it is unique. To call this place "boutique" and "remote" is an understatement. I am a nature lover and appreciate a good secret luxurious getaway in the woods as much as the next girl. However the location was out of the way and if I wasn't going to a wedding up here I would never have stayed in the area. Placerville is sweet but rarely have a reason to visit. The next option was a Best Western, but we wanted to splurge a bit so we decide on the BnB. Looking past the overall appearance to the room and property I couldn't help but notice a few things. It was as if the maintenance may have been put off for a few months or even years. Some aspects seemed to be painted over or forgotten completely. This is NOT a place for a modern millennial needing strong wifi, and if you have AT&T, better bring a book and download those Netflix movies ahead of time because there is NO SERVICE FOR AT&T customers and their "guest" wifi wont even let you stream any videos AT ALL. Again, I love nature so it was ok with me and let me unplug from my social medias. I then tried watching TV and the TV was broken. Cracks in the wall painted over with discolored paint. I went to shower and the shower had cobwebs and was discolored. I went to the fake beach to read and there were shards of broken glass in the sand by the fire pit. I went to the Koi ponds and it looked like no one had cleaned them in months. The pool had dead bugs and leaves in it. Also had the smallest suite and the bathroom was LITERALLY a closet with an extra door. Very overpriced and under managed. This place seemed to have a higher reputation in 2008 and is still living off of that. It seems the details have been put to the side.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The property had beautiful views and close to the attractions we wanted to see. The inn keeper was very friendly and gave us goo information,
Cons: Our room was near the driveway. I would spend the extra money next time for one of the view rooms that looked great. My fault I was trying to save money
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was polite and very helpful. Great view from the room. Room balcony was private. Room was very nice.
Cons: Other guests dominated the pool and jacuzzi for the duration of our stay. However, the morning of our check the staff turned on the jacuzzi for our use before our departure.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: If you're looking for a quiet, upscale property, nestled in trees, you will love The Bella Vista. Kathleen, one of the owners, is, in my opinion, the perfect host. She's relaxed and very friendly, yet leaves guests totally alone to enjoy the solitude. We felt like friends that were given carte blanche in her home. The Bella Vista suite, also called the honeymoon suite, is exceptional. (As a matter of fact, the entire inside of the home is in pristine condition, with many beautiful antiques.) We also have to give high kudos to the chef. She made us a delicious breakfast each morning of our stay, and Kathleen served it on our private sundeck. ( Which overlooked the forest, pool and beach.) Our va-ca took us whitewater rafting during the day, (which was a blast!) then we returned to our private retreat and re-energized in the jucuzzi. When our hosts suggested the Majestic for dinner, we were thrilled. How great to find a casual, very yummy fine dining restaurant just a few miles away. One hint I might pass along is to not drive into Placerville for dinner until you know the extraordinarily winding, tree laden road. It's very dark at night and difficult to find the B&B entrance. If you're looking for a great B&B in a gorgeous, lay-back environment, I highly recommend The Bella VIsta.
Cons: We felt the price was a little high, but everything else was wonderful!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the pool area and a delicious breakfast was served on the balcony in our room.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very accommodating! The meals were fantastic! The location was idyllic and the hotel was gorgeous!!
Cons: Pool wasn’t available yet. The plumbing wasn’t up to par in the outside restroom tub. And,there was building debris stored in that area nearby that outside restroom , where a dead mouse was encountered. Mosquitoes were starting to get active, so some abatement measures might’ve helped ie. Citronella candles/torches

4.5 Okay
Pros: The son, Adam.
Cons: The accommodations, the bathroom, the screaming air conditioner, the 85 year old bed, the peeling wallpaper, the horribly scratched staircase walls, the linens, the bedspread, the lack of a hairdryer, the dusty, old carpet, the EXTREMELY HOT AND STUFFY room, etc. The son, Adam was a pure delight! Bright, fun, helpful, nice, a very old 13 year old! I would suggest no one stay in the extremely hot upstairs room I stayed. I was also told not to use my hairdryer because it might blow the electrical panel. No problem, I forgot my hairdryer. There was no hairdryer in the room.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The prices are fair, the rooms are comfortable, and the homemade breakfast is absolutely delicious...I will be back for sure..
Cons: It is absolutely beautiful..love the peacefulness and hospitality was amazing...sweetest young man helped carry my bags and brought me beverages to replace mine (I was clumsy and dropped the one I had)..
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Yummy breakfast, as always. Walkable location. For dinner, we walked to a wonderful local restaurant and ate on their outdoor patio. The evening weather was divine.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely the nicest manager/owner I’ve met. He was extremely understanding concerning one of our party who had some serious health problems. Alfred could not have been kinder.

Cons: I missed the brewery that was on site previously.
7.5 Good
Pros: Quite...great breakfast...pleasant host
Cons: Lots of steps
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Everything else was perfect. Clean, nice, quiet, with a good breakfast and a very friendly host, available to help in any necessity. Considering also the price, it is definitely the best place that you can find in that area.
Cons: In the family room, the AC fan was too close to one of the beds.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very personable & helpful owner/manager (Alfred Lee), who went the extra mile by calling me before arrival and texted instructions on how to locate the mansion and which doors to use. The room had an antique bathtub with feet that was converted into a sauna! The living room and dining room were decorated with period, Victorian stuff and great to just sit in.
Cons: The location is not very scenic, but it is a very quick walk to the nice parts of town. It is also safe and has plenty of parking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is the best bed and breakfast ever. We love the home, the property, Alfred (the Innkeeper) and it's so clean and comfy!
Cons: There is nothing we dislike here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Alfred stayed up late for my arrival, such a nice host. This is the best place to stay in Auburn. The design of the rooms in this old home is unique. The breakfast area looks so antique and full of wonderful like heirloom stuff. Alfred thank you for chatting and I think your place is cute and a wonderful break from the Bay Area crazyness. I love your white german shepared too. I highly recommend you stay here thank you again Alfred, good stay, take care

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfasts and fun ghost stories.
Cons: Bigger bathtub.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Filled with antiques, befitting a place built in the 1850s and rebuilt after fire in 1899. Great breakfasts , as well as wine and cheese everyday at 16h00. Friendly staff!
Cons: Alas, breakfast is sort of late at 0900.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The innkeeper was friendly and helpful and suggested places to visit when an unexpected storm kept us off the hiking trails. We enjoyed the breakfasts, the late afternoon wine and cheese and the company of our fellow guests.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable. The backyard is great for an evening glass of wine, and the breakfast is very good.
Cons: Our room, up on the top, was very hot when we arrived. That said, the staff got the swamp cooler going the next day, put an extra fan in our room, and worked hard to see that we were ok.
7.0 Good
Pros: Nice location in the foothills with a lovely yard and deck. This centrally located historic icon of 166 years holds it charm with many original fixtures and period pieces. The friendly host was very thorough in describing the amenities and recommending local restaurants.
Cons: The mattress was way too soft and uncomfortable, especially for anyone prone to any type of back problems. Check-in was difficult as the reservation we had in-hand was unknown to the hosts. Fortunately, they found a room for us and made sure we were comfortable as they tried to sort out the reservation problems. Lastly, as early risers, we missed the continental breakfast as they don’t begin serving until 8:30 AM

Pros: Artichoke quiche was very tasty and the oak apple sausage for breakfast was delicious. Fran and Mike were very knowledgeable about the area having spent most of the lifetime there.AA
Cons: The mattress was a little soft for my liking.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: My husband and I live in Sacramento and wanted to get away for my birthday weekend so we chose to go to Apple Hill, primarily to engage in “high elevation” wine tasting. We stayed at North Canyon Inn because of its proximity to Apple Hill, and we’re glad we did. The Inn was comfortable, clean, and only minutes away from several Apple Hill vendors, wineries, and the Jack Russell brewery. We stayed in the room with the Jacuzzi which was very spacious. Fran and Mike were a delight and treated us more as personal house guests rather than customers. Would definitely recommend this place if you’re in the area or looking for a weekend getaway.

Pros: The street away from this place
Cons: For my window was a big machine it was working the hole night and day. It was terrible noisy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely old (historic) hotel Very nice staff. Super comfortable bed. Right downtown. Walk to shops, restaurants. Small farmers market Wednesday evening. 5 star experience.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It was like stepping back into another time.....loved the old elevator and the special touches in the room.
Cons: The noise that continued past 2 a.m. outside our window. Sounded like a fun party on the street but it made it difficult to sleep.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Feels like in a museum, The lift is funny
Cons: The broken and very loud (clonking noises) air con for the building on the street kept us from getting a good night's sleep; upon mentioning that next morning : "oh yes we know, the room is super loud. I am sorry" was all we got as a response in a somewhat annoyed tone
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent comfortable bed. Location is ideal, plenty of great restaurants and shops. It’s fun to sit out on the balcony and watch all the downtown activity.
Cons: Can be a little noisy from the street, but to be expected due to location. Have stayed there 3 times and only once did street noise get a little loud. Will continue to frequent this hotel as it’s a great stay with lots of downtown food and shops.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I've stayed in a queen that was two rooms with a bath between. The king is a large single room with a nicer bath. Fridge and 2 burners (dated) 70's. The view from the balcony is wonderful.
Cons: I think the place is a fantastic bargain, been twice in the last two weeks. The second floor has the balcony. I sat outside my suite imagined I was with Horace Greeley, Mark Twain below in the crowd. Go west young man go west!
6.0 Good
Pros: The history of the hotel is overwhelmingly obvious. Not in a bad way, but after reading some of it you can understand why some things are the way they are. Great location.
Cons: Eh - got confirmation that we were getting a deluxe queen suite, but we actually got a room with a full sized bed at best. The lock to the bathroom didn't work, and the heater was loud. also i didnt see any ghosts. Next time.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The location I guess is good. Free parking but it's a little far away.
Cons: The noise is a bit much. If you have a room near the balcony just note that people will walk right by your window. They can see directly in your window. They are able to stay out on the balcony until 10:00 and be as loud as they want to be. So you will feel like they are in your room. I was never told anything about the balcony at check in weather it was a public or private space. I've stayed here two other times and I have all three visits find the noise to be too much. The first two times I was like okay it's an old hotel and gave it a pass. The balcony issue I just can't be silent on that issue.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I grew up in Placerville but had never been to the Cary House. I had always heard about it so when I had the opportunity to stay there as a tourist in my old hometown, I did. It did not disappoint. The staff were all courteous and very friendly. You do need to understand that this is a historic building, so certain things are going to be old or less convenient - like the elevator and hot water may take longer. But the room was huge - a nice sitting area, kitchenette, separate bedroom and well sized bathroom. There wasn't any traffic noise even though I was directly overlooking Main Street. The location was perfect for exploring the quaint downtown and the hotel arranges for overnight parking in a nearby lot.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location. Close to everything you need!
Cons: Bed was a bit hard. In room coffee was terrible!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Interesting historic hotel in a busy little town.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location.
Cons: Someone had a key card that worked for our room and they used it at 3:20 AM. Fortunately the door had another lock but this is unacceptable.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming and friendly front desk. Rooms extremely clean.
Cons: If you don't like stairs ask for a downstairs room
6.8 Good
Pros: The location was great. The staff was kind and helpful.
Cons: The room was as clean as a run-down, dingy, dated, motel could possibly be. The mattresses were old and lumpy, and the pillows virtually nonexistent. With that said, the hotel was a good value for the price.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Although the motel is situated next to a freeway, it was very quiet. The clerk was super-friendly and had an answer to all questions we rised. The room was comfortable and equipped with everything you need. The very good service more than compensated the rather high age of the site and the other disadvantages listed above.
Cons: The motel is located a little bit outside in a non-charming area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff and the room were well worth 65.00
7.0 Good
Pros: The staff was great. We asked for one extra towel and two minutes later she brought us a complete extra set! It's an older property but clean and with all the basics of the pricier chains.

Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. Room and facilities good. Breakfast basic but ample. Laundry available next to swimming pool. Short drive to Walmart supermarket. Ample parking.
Cons: Breakfast served on paper plates and plastic cutlery.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: You should advise people that there are no elevators so expect to climb the stairs with your luggage.
7.0 Good
Pros: The room was nice and clean. We even had hardwood floors. The pool and hot tub were also a plus.
Cons: Our toilet clogged and they couldn’t get any maintenance to the room, luckily that was the morning of check out. Also the walls are really thin and you can hear everything going on in the hallway
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the welcoming landscaping, the staff was courteous and kind, my room was convenient, comfortable and large.
Cons: Can’t complain about anything.
8.0 Excellent
Cons: The tv on the wall didn’t move at all and their was no DVD player so I couldn’t plug mine in which was really upsetting
5.8 Okay
Pros: The hotel is older, but overall clean.
Cons: The walls are incredibly thin and the freeway was right out our window. We listened to the people above us walk around and the thin poor insulation made it sound like they had cement shoes both late at night and early in the morning. Bed hard and pillows lumpy. :(
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Service was great and room was clean.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff and very nice breakfast room.
6.8 Good
Pros: The hotel was in a quaint location. Kinda resort like. Being next to a Mexican restaurant helped. Right off the highway and lots of parking.
Cons: As a trucker, not able to park on property. Had to park across street and walk up hill with belongings. No elevator. My room was on end closest to road. VERY NOISY intersection and thin walls/windows.

2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Bed was comfortable
Cons: A/C did not work in the first room. We were able to switch to another room. When moved to another room the tv did not work and when I called the front desk to let them know she gave me a very bad attitude and told me she can’t put in me another room which I replied that was not what I am asking for I would only like a little help with the tv. She then told me if I couldn’t figure out the remote there was nothing she could do for me.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Room was dirty, hair and remodel debris on floor. Right after we got into room a maintenance guy opened our door said he wanted to check the room as he heard it got rented. Horrible place. Wife didn't sleep or use the tub.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The beds were like sleeping on a cloud!
Cons: Little too pricey for me
7.0 Good
Pros: At first we had a problem with not being able to have the accommodations we requested on line when making my reservation. I requested joining rooms on the lower level. The staff member tried to help but it was disappointing. We ended up on the upper level with rooms far apart. One room was not cleaned at all. When we entered it. Staff member was notified and we where upgraded to a better room across from the other party we where with. Staff member was very apologetic about the dirty room.
Cons: See note above
6.3 Good
Pros: One of the pillows
Cons: The door in from outside did not work.
3.0 Mediocre
Cons: Very rundown! Shower plugged up. Could not use. Front desk gave me a plunger. Did not work. Never again!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: comfy bed. I love this place and stay here every time. Pool facilities clean and nice.
Cons: sometimes the parking in the front of the building gets full quick.
6.0 Good
Pros: Liked that the property was central to our visiting needs.
Cons: There was one harried front desk person helping 4 coins. Saw another 2'xs but didnt help. People on the phone put on hold during 3 coins. Walking in to go to our room one stairs were partially blocked by large housekeeping basket, cleaning tools, supplies. Left there for at least 3hrs. There was a man digging in the dumpster right outside one entrance. The tv lost sound, was instructed to unplug the connection then plug in again. This kept happening. Then all of a sudden closed captioning came on and would not allow to turn off, and floated across the screen popping up in different locations and font size. Called the front desk and was told, I'll leave a note for the next person. I asked if there would be any compensation and was told had to ask manager in the am but could be moved to a room downstairs. I requested upper floor with res. And, we had been traveling, it was already 7pm, had dinner and showers, my husband was already close to sleep. I declined packing up everything and moving downstairs. There was rowdy guests with multiple complaints. All were given excuses. No, unless no other option, would not choose this property again and we are thankful we do not belong to rewards program. All the above is reason enough to make that choice, promised quiet, promised flat screen tv in the nightly rate and not accommodated. Looked for the manager in the am, told she would call, still waiting for that call, 5 days later.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Loved the included breakfast and the super comfortable large beds.
Cons: A bit pricey but still good buy
6.3 Good
Pros: The staff were great. The front desk clerk was very kind & helpful to find a first floor room for me. If she had not been able to arrange it, I would have had to find another motel in the late afternoon.
Cons: This place has stairs only. NO elevator! Nowhere in the booking Does it mention that fact. Had I known in advance I would have never booked a stay.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was good at the check-in desk. The room was clean.
Cons: I don’t expect much with these free breakfast places but this experience was the worst that I’ve had. I was the first one in and the eggs and the sausage were cold. It was like the heater wasn’t even on. I couldn’t use the microwave because they had a big bowl of something in there. The coffee was the worst I’ve ever had. Minimum service is all I need, but I do need to eat something very early for blood sugar reasons And this place sucked on the food. Room lighting was also dark and lacking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff is all so friendly and helpful. My daughter loved the pool and I loved the larger towels and soft mattresses
Cons: Had a hard time with the room keys working on the outside doors to get in

Pros: Place was nice. Beds where okay
Cons: Decent place to stay for price
5.8 Okay
Pros: The location was perfect for the places we needed to go.
Cons: Amenities listed included a hot tub. There was one at sometime but it is filled in with cement. We chose this facility based on amenities. Our room was not cleaned very well. There were carryout food containers left in the room, microwave area was dirty and sticky and there was hair in the refrigerator. We also had to ask for towels and washcloths. Why they only have enough in the room for 1 person is beyond me!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very simple clean and very quiet!
7.5 Good
Pros: The price
Cons: The beds were so uncomfortable!
2.5 Mediocre
Cons: This entire place needs investigating! It just wasnt professional at all!!! We arrived at 5 pm. We were told they were sold out! He could see our reservation on his screen as he knew my name upon checking in. He was apologetic but nervous too. I asked him how can that be? We booked July 29 th. How could you sell our room out? He said oh it was booking.coms fault. They always sell more rooms then what we have available. He was not very empathetic or helpful, just said sorry. And I felt he just wanted me to leave. I asked for his manager. So, he dialed the manager who basically rambled on about how booking.com is at fault here. With no recompense. I said to him we need a room as it is too late to find one at this hour and there was not many in Auburn. Would be difficult to get one at this time and we were tired from traveling up from southern california. He just said well, sorry. I then said well you must have other room available. He said he would check. He had just one room left but it was a single queen. We had booked a double room with 2 double beds. He instead had just a queen room to fit us. In the room there was no coffee pot, coffee, blow dryer, shampoo or conditioner. One mini bar of soap at the sink. That was it! He gave this room at $76 for the nite and added in a blow-up bed. While walking down the hall, I met a gal who I asked how her experience was here @ Motel 6 Auburn, and she said horrible! Like me, she was told they were fully booked and had. O rooms available - she said that she booked a non-smoking room, but when she arrived she was told they were sold out and she had to take a smoking room which was making her sick! Also, there is no elevator in this hotel. 3 floors. So just an added fyi for anyone who may have issues walking up 3 flights of stairs. And fyi- the beds are hard as a rock. It was an awful nite. Am now in Tahoe & loving our vacation cabin. Ps the Res lion is next door to motel 6 just fyi -

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location (super quiet) and small squishy pillows instead of huge firm ones. Also everything worked.the only
Cons: The only negative was the visual appeal of the carpet. It was clean but old and stained. This would not keep me from staying again or recommending to friends.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was already finished by the time I came down to the area where it is served...
Cons: It was seemingly advertised as a better hotel than it turned out to be. It is a simple, and should be , a very low cost type of property.. Could not open windows; noise from outside entrances that are all in common... no barriers from noise other than a single pane window that does not open...
7.0 Good
Pros: The location was great for what I needed and the air conditioning was helpful. Overall, the room was very clean and quiet. Was able to borrow an iron.
Cons: The sink dripped and the flapper valve on the toilet wouldn’t work properly. I had to keep sticking my hand in the tank to get it to close. Found out there was no blow dryer after I got out of the shower. I later picked one up at the office to replace the missing one. Borrowed an ironing board that was missing half of the foldout legs, so had to figure out how to prop it up - the ice bucket worked fairly well. The breakfast was very basic. It will be fine for young kids, but there are plenty of other places to eat nearby.
