When I initially called it sounded like they weren't going to be able to provide a large 4 WD vehicle. They said to call 72 hours out, and when I did, the second person said no problem! And got us one! Thanks....

Pros:

This was the easiest rental car experience of my life. Great service from "Jason". I phoned from the airport and he picked me up in a snowstorm. Had the car running to keep it warm for me. The entire process was seamless; drop off was excellent as well. Thank you!

Cons:

The location of the rental place was about 8 minutes from the airport. In a perfect world, it would be AT the airport, but given how small Missoula is, and how quickly the shuttle process worked, it was a pretty minimal issue.

Extremely expensive. One person working the counter is unacceptable. Waited 30 min or more. That is way to long. The rate was 3x any other Alamo. Will use another agency next time.

Pickup in Missoula was long and arduous, long line, only one staff at a time. Vehicle was brand new, no instructions on various features, we had to ask a customer in the lot how to get in and start it! Poor choice of assignment for elderly renters, too many 'whistles and bells', hard to climb into and out of. Drop+off at Belgrade/Gallatin was quick and easy.

Had a tiny bit of difficulty comparing the trunk size between a mid and full size. It worked out in the end, but it was a master Tetris experience!

The car they gave me had a leaky front driver's side tire that I had to stop and fill up 4 or 5 times during my trip. That was an annoyance.

Rental counter is in a TENT across the parking lot. It was raining quite hard when we arrived and there was no way to get to the counter except to walk across the lot. I have had knee surgery and didn't want to slip. When i asked the attendant if there was a shuttle he laughed and told me I could walk there. I am sosrry- how is this ADA compliant at an airport?? Also there were people in wheelchairs and walkers on my flight. Low score on location set up.HIgh score on actual car! Loved my brand NEW Toyota Camry and the new car smell was intoxicating!

The car wasn't ready. I waited over 90 mins and the lady at the counter was rude and wouldn't give me an estimated time, so I left. My brother picked up a car later that night at 2am and they said that my car still wasn't available.

I was able to choose the exact car I wanted and was even able to reserve a cooler and boogie board to use for the week. The car was in like-new condition. The free shuttle was convenient, fast and the drivers were nice. The location was a little bit further from the airport, but it wasn't a problem.

It was the first time we rented via Turo, so I don't have a good base reference to compare in general, and can only compare to car rental experiences with commercial fleets (like Budget or Enterprise). In general it was okay -- we made it to where we were going and back, with no major issues. It's doable. However, there were some "surprises" where things didn't quite got as we expected: * We made rental reservation with expectation that we're picking up at the airport. When we got there, it turned out that the car is not at the airport, and the address given to us turned out to be what seemed to be Portland's airport Fire Rescue Tower (where, obviously, we can't even walk to or be at). We called the owner, and turned out that the car is at some house that's "not far" from the airport, and gave us new address. So additional expense of taking Uber/Lyft to get to the car (and apparently that address exists in two neighboring towns, and somehow Uber/Lyft took us first to the wrong one, so we had to take another ride, but that's not a Turo issue, just more expense as a consequence of car not being at the airport as promised). * When we got there, we called the owner to get the keys: "-- Keys are under front door's floormat. -- Nope, they're not there. -- Then try mailbox? -- Yes, they're there." The owner wasn't there, which is okay to do this all remote, but would be nicer if owner was in general "on top of things" such as where the car is and where it is expected to be picked up, where exactly are its keys, etc. * Then owner requested that prior to return we take the car to be washed and cleaned inside and out. We neither planned on looking for car detailing places in Portland, nor for time that it would take away from sightseeing, nor for extra substantial expense it would be. We pushed back and the owner backed off saying that he'll let it go due to confusion with pickup location (and apparently he didn't send some email that he was supposed to send, or something along those lines). * And while the car wasn't too dirty, it wasn't clean to begin with (which made detailing request that more amusingly odd). Crumbs on floor and seats and luggage compartment. Worst part was that windshield was dirty on the inside that was minor unpleasant at daytime, but as driving progressed into night time, it was quite significant as it was blurring lights and affected visibility substantially. * We also added additional driver thru Turo and let the owner know. The owner requested that we send him picture of drivers license directly to him. We refused (as it didn't seem right, given that Turo is the one that manages that aspect) and he backed off. * Of course, additional expense of Uber/Lyft after return drop-off as we weren't dropping it off at the airport as originally planned. So all in all we probably spent additional $50-60 in Uber/Lyft for getting to and from cars location instead of it being in the airport, and lost about 3+ hours for dealing with additional unplanned travel. The rest was okay. Car drove fine and didn't give any problems.
