Using the booking agency was okay... my reservation was not confirmed with the hotel until the day I arrived and after multiple calls to the booking agency. Because my booking was prepaid, using the booking agency, I was not able to take advantage of any of the benefits of being a Hilton Honors Rewards member...that was not cool.
No daily room cleaning. No replacement of shampoo, conditioner, gel, condiments.
Pros. I loved the location and the quality of the rooms and the quality of the service. While its an older property it's in good shape and everything works. Its a great place to base a stay in Monterey
Cons. The long hall ways
Pros. We were in town for college tour. These facilities were great. Having restaurant on premises was perfect. Excellent food and friendly service.
Pros. We liked the rooms, the grounds, the staff and the location. And the breakfast was much better than we expected.
Cons. We could hear the people in the next room talking and especially the kids.

Pros. This is a beautiful hotel with very helpful and courteous staff who made us feel welcomed and comfortable. The beds are heavenly and the little store by the front desk offered food, drink, snacks and toiletries for sale in case you forgot something, the staff at the dining room and event dinner was also very helpful with a special thank you to Marion who provided warm and efficient service to our entire group throughout our stay. ( we were there for a wedding)

Cons. We prepaid for the room online and upon our 8pm arrival we were informed that we were "lucky" that our room was still available (what!?). Once in our room, we found that the toilet was broken; water ran all night, even after maintenance "fixed" the issue at 11pm. The shower was broken. So no baths for us! We informed the desk and they offered to let us shower in another room the next morning - hardly a reasonable accommodation. There was a loud reunion going on at the bar and another on the second floor - both lasted well into the early morning (2am!). The late night desk clerk was rude and completely unapologetic. It was by far the worst Hilton experience ever.
Pros. The bar and restaurant has great staff. Little pricy. Nice room.
Cons. Pool was down for maintenence, didn't see that on the Web site. So our pool view was not that nice.
