A very relaxing hotel in good order. Due to age of building noise from room above was disturbing
The staff was very friendly and eager to please. Our room was clean and comfortable.
Spacious room and bathroom, private outside seating area.Good central location.
The hotel has lots of character and plenty of olde world charm. Also it has just been modernised so all the bedroom furniture and fittings were very modern and in good condition We have been in room 112 before and in that instance there was damp/leak problem with water coming in the ceiling by the window, despite the refit, there is still a problem with damp in the room. The room smells "damp" when you arrive and the sloped ceiling above the bed is "wet". Also breakfast service could be a little quicker. That first cup of coffee needs to be with us fast!
Only one the toilet in our room required 3 to 4 flushes. Too little water dispensed at a time, downstairs were toilets fine.
The staff were excellent, friendly and welcoming. Great decor, good food and a nice atmosphere in all areas.
comfortable room, helpful friendly staff general atmosphere in the bar & dining room, location & food
we stayed one night. The room was a good size, it was clean & the decor was good. We had a good open view of Moreton high street. The bed was comfortable. we got complimentary tea/coffee and sparkling wine brought up to us on our arrival which was great. The only meal we had in the hotel was breakfast and it was very good. Our room was up 2 flights of stairs with no lift but the staff carried our bags up for us.
Relaxed, informal but very good quality. Really liked the decor mixed with the really old beautiful building. Fantastic location for a relaxed weekend - lovely shops and pubs.
fabulous and very romantic. loved it
I don't think you can find a better example of an Olde England Cotswold hotel. Log fires, beams, uneven floors, mullioned windows, beautiful garden and courtyard. But a lot of thought and money has been spent on bringing it up to modern standards and the furnishings and design are brilliant. Luxury, but not stuffy. The soft lighting in our bedroom (Room 9, Tudor Moot Room) made it hard to put my makeup on. Had to wait for my husband to finish in the bathroom so I could use the mirror in there , but there was no where to place my makeup bag. The electric shower is feeble. Neither of these points would put me off going to The Manor House again!
attentive service! knowledgeable staff! restaurant a little expensive
Excellent location, restaurant, pub, reception area and lounge. Excellent breakfast. Standard room small, but that is a general problem with older hotels. Bed was small & too soft, but it had to fit the room.
Nice old hotel Our room was above the bar which was extremely noisy
reception staff very pleasant and efficient we found the restaurant service and food a bit fussy.
Stylish interior whilst maintaining the mature building.
Pretty garden and garden room where we had a very good breakfast Terrible access to our bedroom, tv did not work clearly and loo flush in bathroom was very poor
Lovely room and helpful staff. Plenty of space in the communal areas and lovely breakfast in the conservatory overlooking the gardens. On arrival, the room was a double not a twin and the beds weren't separated until late. However, the staff were very apologetic and we were offered complimentary drinks.
The food in the dining room was excellent. The service was prompt and the the food was delicious. Very helpful over my wife's need for a gluten-free diet. The shower had a 'corner door' which made it difficult to use.
location of hotel, and friendliness and layout of the bar meals in restaurant were over-priced
the efficiency of the staff during the stay was first rate - rooms fantastic value for money as was the food
The room was very warm and comfortable and the evening meal was excellent. Good value for money.
The room was excellent and so was the food and service. N/A (We liked it all)
The location to the train station was excellent. The fresh flowers and the complimentary brandy were a great touch to our stay at the Redesdale Arms Hotel. My friend and I wanted and got a great time in the Cotswolds with the help of this hotel.
friendly, relaxed atmosphere, good car parking area.
good service, warm welcome
The room was very comfortable and well equipped. We liked the complimentary sherry in the room! The restaurant was excellent - we had two very good evening meals there. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Pleasant friendly atmosphere with a good buffet breakfast included. Excellent evening meals also available. Alarm clock left set from previous resident woke us up at 7:30.
The food was excellent and staff very professional Lack of attention in restaurant throughout evening meal Room only had hand held shower
Good food and a pleasant atmosphere. Poor mattress, lumpy due to springs.
Very comfortable and beautifully decorated rooms. Staff were friendly and thoughtful and the breakfasts were great. Nothing. Very impressed with everything regarding the hotel.
The staff were lovely, welcoming and professional.
Excellent location in the the Cotswolds. Clean, tidy rooms with white sheets on lofty down comforter. Bathrooms were clean and modern. Breakfast was excellent. Dinner in the the restaurant was fantastic...very gourmet and excellent value. Service was impeccable. Very friendly staff. Welcoming and accommodating. Took the time to orient us to the region and even gave us a hand-drawn map. Excellent value for money. Our room in the front of the building (on the Square) did get some noise from the street. Not bad but if you're sensitive, you might request a garden-facing room. Also, the room was a bit dark and closet had no light.
In the heart of the Cotswolds. An old hotel which has been sympathetically refurbished. Excellent food-good value.
Roomy and reasonably quiet. Room was rather warm at night. Parking was a minor problem.
Apart from the amazing food & great ambience in restaurant I loved the attention to detail of the furnishings- the lighting and tasteful decor was just perfect. We stayed in a downstairs cottage room which was lovely but noisy from the upstairs room. Also there was just a small sort of communal area outside of the bar where you could sit (I think) but it wasn't too inviting or at least no one was sitting there....
Room was great, and very clean. Food good, would stay again.. More lighting needed in car park
Very individual ,great furnishing without being too busy it was lovely and clean with plenty of room
Clean well presented room
Morton in Marsh is a beautiful location. Good breakfast Lack of heating in the bedroom. The room was very cold and not well sound proofed - could here other guests coming and going, doors banging and car alarm ringing all night.
Excellent room, lovely oldy wordly, excellent staff all round, breakfast very good. Just had a bit of problem with the shower, no power in it so gave up and had a wash, but it wasnt a problem really, we only had one night there, would have said something if had more nights.
Rooms adjacent to beer garden and patio courtyard for pub therefore noisy during pub hours, not for the guest wanting an early night.
Comfortable beds Very very cold cottage. Kareoke in pub until 11.30pm. Poor breakfast first morning.
the beer garden was brilliant, safe and secure for kids. breakfast was good too. there were three families in our party and one couple, the varying types of accommadation suited us all.
The location was excellent, staff friendly. The noise at night! Beds not very comfortable and room seemed damp.
The room was a nice size, and the breakfast was nice. great location on the high street of the town. The extractor fan from the kitchen was right under our room, and woke up up in the morning, also would have liked a later check out than 10am. TV was also very small, but we didn't come to watch TV
Really nice pub/hotel excellent facilities, very friendly staff. excellent location for town and visitng local area. Cannot think of anything negative.
Location of the inn. Inn had a lot of charm and character, very large room with a lot of period features. Also (but this is a really personal point): map of the wine region of Beaune on the wall was a nice touch for my sister and I as we grew up about 30 km away from it. Very quiet inn especially considering we had the beer garden/smokers area below our windows. We asked for a twin room but only had a double bed. The girl who checked us in and showed us the room mentionned that a sofa bed would be made ready for us but it was not when we got back to the room. The mattress was too soft for our taste.
Good food, pleasant staff and value for money
Location and staff attention. Rooms cold and dark. Car park difficult to find and inaccessible. Price probably a bit too high given the quality of the accommodation etc.
Relaxed, attentive staff, homely, real fires.
Grreat room (39), grreat staff, good restaurant, good location
The food and service in the restaurant was very good The room allocated to us was very small, cleanliness in the room was very poor , the ensuite was tiny, & the shower did not work . Our room was very non standard and required upgrading.
Staff friendly and the bar and food was reasonably priced compared to the rest of the village.
The room was comfortable without any frills. The bar area was well run and had an excellent ambiance. The dining room was poorly run. Tables were dirty and not laid. No food left at breakfast. Staff were not trained and receptionist was unhelpful.
Basic, but relatively good facilities, bar, restaurant, small (chilly) swimming pool. Good location in the centre of the town and nice part of the country. Second room was much bigger and better. The first "family" room we were put in was not acceptable. there was a small sofa bed which was too small and uncomfortable for our children. Sorted by the staff. The decor is a bit old and tired. Overall a bit 'Fawlty Towers'. Food in bar was average.
Breakfast finished at 9.00 o clock which was quite early and there was not a menu to choose from you could only have what was out already
The location was very good and when the staff learn thier roles and find thier way around the hotel, it will in no doubt be a lovely place to stay. The cleanliness of the room was extremely dissapionting and the staff where not very friendly.
Room was nice and new, however not what I would class as delux as was booked The pool was a good 5 minute walk from one hotel to the next and staff where poorly trained, TV remained broken for 2 day of our stay
The area, although we had to go everywhere in the car, also the room was lovely the fact that the spa was not attached to the hotel again we used the car not very good when you come out of the swimming pool
Great parking.......and free! Great position in a lovely town in a beautiful area, and good food - fine dinig if you want, bistro-style if not. One member of staff made a mistake and didn't acknowledge it, but his junior more than made up for him.
The hotel is lovely, the lobby and bar were very cosy. The bed was comfortable, and I loved the pillow menu. The fridge in our room consisted of water, and milk that had gone off. The fridge was not cold. The room was very very hot, with a very noisy fan, we had a delux double room, but we did not feel that it was a delux double room at all, as room 6 did not look like any of the rooms advertised, if I had known they had rooms like this I would not have stayed here.
The service was pleasant, efficient and courteous. The food was excellent. It was reasonably quiet considering its location in the centre of the town. We were not there long enough to make further judgementts. The hotel is inadequately signed, merely a faded name over the front door. Unless one was familiar with the trade-mark "C", it was very difficult to find the carpark, There is then a longish walk to enter the hotel.
It's location for our touring needs. The Hotel gardens gave one an impression of seclusion even in the centre of the village. I know the hotel is old but the squeaking floor boards in both the bedroom and particularly the hallways with the families going up and down any time of day or evening, can become annoying.
The room and the food were excellent It was all good!
Quality of staff. Excellent breakfasts Hotel hard to find- badly labelled
The staff were excellent, catering to our every need. The breakfast gave a wide choice and the food was first class. This luxuary hotel is in an excellent location. Unfortunately, unlike our previous stay at Cotswold House Hotel, the carpet in our room had not been cleaned and remained 'unhoovered' for the three days of our stay. The settee was covered in fluff and hair. The Bang & Olefson tv had no BBC channel and the Skybox kept switching itself off.
Location of the hotel and comfort of rooms I did not like the long wait for food in the resturant
relaxing atmosphere. Very helpful and friendly staff no
The bathroom was lovley, and the room was nice, the facilities were good. Yes definately. The hotel looked alot more impressive on the website than in reality, and the biggest issue is the cost! It is a lovley hotel with spectacular prices but the hotel is certainly not spectacular enough to warrant the charges. I would have cancelled my reservation if I had been paying full price for a very nice room, but again not impressive enough to justify the cost.
We enjoyed the atmostphere and charm of the hotel and we were upgraded to a four poster room on arrival. The room was quite cold and we had problems with no hot water for the majority of our stay.
The excellent breakfast, the room upgrade and the public rooms and newspapers. Was disappointed that the log fire had not been lit
ambience and location
Location - Service - Friendly Staff - Quality Food
Comfortable bed- good food. Wonderful town to visit. Room a bit small, reception rooms a bit worn.
Restaurant food was good, Staff were helpful, location etc. very good. Restaurant Menu selection could be wider. Details of parking could be provided before arrival.
Traditional place but over rated in some ways The staff were fine but sometimes had the feeling they were laughing at guests and talking in their own language together.
The location was excellent for exploring the Cotswolds. Staff were always friendly and helpful during our stay. The mattress on the bed was very lumpy. The toilet did not flush well, and sometimes it ran without the water turning off. There was no lift for travelers with heavy luggage.
visiting nearby National Trust properties We cannot think of anythjng we didnt like during our stay and enjoyed every minute
All the staff were friendly, attentive and welcoming. Lovely big comfy sofa in lounge and very comfy arm chairs around. Dining conservatory was lovely. Great breakfast and great fish and chips.Beautiful location in lovely village. The only thing was the smoke alarm was directly over the bed and the flashing red light was quite annoying when trying to sleep. I did mention it at reception the following morning and they said they were aware of this and had complaints before. We were given the option of changing rooms but as we were only there for one more night we declined. The main reason being my husband has limited mobility and we were quite happy with where the room was and didn`t want one further away.
The hotel staff, especially the porter Matt, could not help you enough. Location is also beautiful. Breakfast on Sunday was a bit hectic, only small dining area with two hour slot is tight with 26 full rooms. No tea/coffe making facilities in room big disappointment, however, we packed our own after reading other reviews on this site. Well done.
The cost of the evening meal and the fact that the cost was not published anywhere not even in the menu or the room.
very comfortable and relaxing place set in beautiful location. Good base for exploring the Cotswolds
Everything which was promised was delivered.
Extremely polite and helpful staff from in every respect from booking in to departure Price of drinks from the bar were overpriced e.g x2 spritzers at £11
location poor service
Staff were extremely friendly and efficient. Breakfast was lovely with a good choice. Some of the spa facilities were a little tired and needed some attention.
the location There wasnt any information within the rooms abouts meal times - opening and closing of restaurant
Lovely location, staff were great and hotel and food fantastic
Evening meal and good wine
The staff were very helpful and friendly, the evening meal we enjoyed there was of a high quality, breakfast was very good.
nothing No wastebin in the room. Springs on the bed sticking up so had to turn mattress over but still too soft and uncomfortable.
The food and the staff
Friendly Good food Conveient for getting around A few minor details could have been improved ieRazor point and light above mirror in bathroom, a mirror in bedroom, a hanging rail in wardrobe and a waste bin!
The location is a wonderful base for touring the Cotswolds. Chipping Campden is a quintessential english country village. The Red Lion is a very useful base with good staff and great food. The rooms are basic but in a quaint old inn so to be expected. The first room we got was on the ground floor and the main road into the village runs along side the inn so it was a little noisy. But once we asked for a change we got a room in the attic no problem.
comfortable, clean rooms and friendly staff no
Good breakfast and food No use of telephone
Dog and owner in that order An invoice would be prefarable to a till receipt
the central location the bathroom was tired
The main building is stunning as is the setting The sevice and food in the dining room are very poor 40min wait for a cold starter most staff not from GB
The house was very nice and quiet and enjoyed being able to smoke in the bar. the grounds are very nice and peaceful. The pool was very warm and clean and everything was maintained very well. The food was excellent. the buildings next to the house were not inkeeping with the house which made everything look odd. The prices in the bar were outrageous. Also there was no information provided in the room about the hotel facilities etc and had to ask reception about everything
The gardens and the lounge areas are amazing. Definitely worth doing a walk through the gardens in the morning. Great value. The room we stayed in was very basic, which was fair for the price, but the window didn't open and the loo didn't flush properly. The room was overheated and had an odd smell.
Very peaceful yet easy access to neighbouring villages etc. I did not like the block our hotel was in as it was some kind of reverted office block. No mini bar, no room service. No information at all about the hotel or area in the room. Breakfast was cold.
The staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Some of the shared areas were very impressive and the setting was pretty good too. The room we stayed in was too small. The restaurant menu was the same for the three nights we stayed. The room we stayed in was opposite the 18th hole of the golf course and it was mowed at about 7.15am on two of the three mornings. Not what you need on a relaxing break.
Impressive main house and good leisure facilities. Breakfast was also good and plentiful. The room we were in was small with an odd wardrobe with no doors and sharp corners, which my husband banged his head on trying to negotiate the small space between the bed and wardrobe. Although refurbished, this room was in the Shrewesbury Wing, it looked like any standard motel rather than a stately manor house as expected.
The location and the parkland Felt a bit empty and lifless
very good food, friendly staff very understaffed. very expensive bar prices . 90% of rooms had a view. ours didn't.
The peace and quiet on a Friday night at an English country manor. 1) Never anyone at the bar to order tea/coffee or pre-dinner drinks. 2) The hideous concrete additions to a beautiful house
the setting the hotel was in and the views noise at night from people coming out of ball right up to 3.45am!!
The public areas and hotel grounds are lovely The rooms don't live up to the rest of the hotel. Barely travel lodge standards. Bar prices are extortionate - £11 for 2 spirits with mixers.
Excellent location for touring and sightseeing around The Cotswolds. The hotel has an excellent restaurant and dining was a pleasureable experience. The hotel represents good value, especially when compared to hotels of similar quality in nearby Chipping Campden
Attentive yet informal staff. Disappointed that only terrestrial TV stations available
Lovely room, with own courtyard. Clean, quiet and comfortable. Very friendly, welcoming staff. Good food. None
staff very helpful good all round service, lovely location, food excellent well worth a stay! and yes we would love to visit again - thank you for the warm welcome you gave to us all. n/a
Comfortable room, very clean bathroom. Breakfast arrived on time and was hot. It was very nice to have a radio in the room too.
We particulary stayed here for the pudding club eventwhich was a great evening.Breakfast is superb. Rooms are lovely all individual decorated and furnished
Staff friendly and efficient. Food excellent Very bad coffee - need to invest in decent coffee machine to enable the making of Americanos, cappucinos etc.
Excellent hotel, excellent room, excellent service, excellent food !! Absolutely none !!
breakfast was good, the garden was nice, the sitting room very nice.bathroom modern. the room was small and had an old decor.....we were dissapointed as it was quite expensive and we have stayed in much nicer rooms for a lot less,no fridge,no iron, lights too dull to read by.felt a little ripped off.
