Pros: The rooms are beautiful and you can’t beat the location! Breakfast is to die for.
Cons: Nothing this place is amazing.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The volume and the charm of the room. The healthy breakfast. The vibe of the place.
Cons: Nothing to dislike at Orchid Tree B&B. As a piece of information, when we stayed there (end of December), birds were singing at night pretty loudly, which can be a problem for light sleepers.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best stay of this trip! Highly recommend to everyone who will visit Hilo.
Cons: None
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This is just a beautiful place providing so many pretty details. We stayed there two nights. The B&B has only two rooms, so it felt very familiar. The host took a lot of time to give us tips and recommendations for how we could spend our time in the area. Our room with its furniture and facilites was high-class, especially the bathroom. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. On the first morning we had a fresh fruit plate and fresh waffles and on the second morning we were provided a fresh smoothie and croissants. It was really lovely. We would definitively book this B&B again. After sunset the many wild birds start their "jungle-concert", so don't forget to bring your earplugs.
Cons: Nothing to complain about.
7.5 Good

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful room, very friendly owner, lovely pool and garden, amazing breakfast. One of the best places we’ve stayed on our trip to Hawaii.
Cons: Hard to say— we should have stayed 1-2 more nights!

9.5 Excellent
Pros: really clean, nicely decorated. Wow breakfast. Great location.
Cons: Having come from dry climate and having to adjust to the humidity, it would have been nice to have air conditioning. Which also contributed to having to keep window open at night and having to deal with a cacophony of frog and insect noises.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Breakfast provided was fresh and yummy Property very clean, bathroom very clean
Cons: The room was stuffy when all windows and doors were closed because the fan is on a limiter with no air con available. Had to keep all windows and doors open because of this and were then kept awake by the caucophony of frogs from sunset to sunrise - the ear plugs provided by host were irritating to me, someone who has never used them before and did not keep out much noise. I nearly lost my mind on the first night and got sleep between 7-9:30am.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is exceeded my expectations!! Ocean view is so great!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is great! The owners are wonderful people; friendly and informative. The breakfasts were also wonderful. I loved the fresh fruit every morning. I'll miss the papaya. The house is beautiful and the decor is fitting for the island. They have beautiful Hawaiian quilts on the beds. We loved the frogs lulling us to sleep at night.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The décor of the Harbor room was fantastic, and there was a lovely view of Hilo Bay as we ate our breakfast. Rainbow Falls was just a 5 minute drive away.
Cons: I would have liked the room a little cooler, as there is no air conditioning - just a fan on the ceiling.

The breakfast was very nice and we were able to enjoy it every morning on our own patio. The owner Tina was very nice a fun to talk to and for he most part she stays out of the way. 8.8 Excellent
Pros: Cosy, nicely decorated room, stunning location at the seaside (we could hear the waves from our room!), delicious breakfast with a beautiful view on the seaside
Cons: The hosts were polite but a bit reserved. The bathroom door could only be shifted but not closed and the trash in the bathroom from previous guests was still there
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Next to the ocean was wonderful. Family atmosphere. Owners were very kind.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location is great. Quiet yet close to town centre and right on sea side. Hosts provide free and generous usage of kitch supplies and nibbles.
Cons: Perhaps it is personal. The timimg of high tide with noisy wave hitting the cliff below the house. We were not provided with a supposed sea view room, instead substituted with a very newly refurbished room with little view of the sea. We feel hot and cannot sleep well for two nights. That diminish the feel of the stay. Perhaps the night time lighting can improve a bit better for a warmer feel too.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I enjoyed warm hospitality. The room was comfortable with all necessary provisions and they provided great variaty of choices for breadfast. The host also showed me around his garden and introduced some of his plants.
10.0 Excellent

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The view from the rooms is spectacular, overlooking the ocean, the breakfast is wonderful and beautifully prepared, the host will give you all the information you need, whatever your plans are.
Cons: This is a real B&B, that almost feels like a house boat. You are quite close to the other guests, which for us is alright for a few nights only, but that is a matter of personal taste.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were very friendly and you get information from locals who actually know their community very well. Breakfast varies from day to day with homemade food and fresh fruit.
Cons: There was no air condition. However, it was always a good temp in our room, because of the breeze. And I don't recall whether or not I searched for places with air condition.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Peaceful and the scenery was beautiful. Staff were excellent.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stayed for two nights. Hotel located approx 20 minutes outside of downtown Hilo. Feels remote even though it is so close to everything. The falls are great. 20 minutes to Akaka falls and Hawaiian tropical botanic gardens. The dinner with the private chef was amazing! Well worth the money and a highlight of our trip. Coffee on the communal lanai in the mornings was great, as well as wine in the evening. Other patrons were friendly and interesting. If you are considering this place, please book! Big shout out to Alice the cat. Love her. We walked on the path to the falls and statues and bamboo garden, which was lovely, but did not do any of the adventures. Staff was lovely and room was clean. View from the room lanai was also pretty.
Cons: Parking was rocky for our compact rental car, but really not a big deal. Room was on the smaller side but again, not a big deal.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The natural surroundings, the waterfall and rainforest are spectacular. The staff were very welcoming and Alex was particularly great at looking after our needs.
Cons: We were expecting individual units but found we were sharing a 6 bedroom house with a series of families over the four nights we were there. There was a kitchen that was old and worn and was not set up well for self catering even though the location is remote and living space that was shared quickly filled with members of families all sharing their lives of which we were not a part so we sometimes felt quite awkward. Had we been aware of this or been placed in a room with our own balcony our stay would have been more pleasant.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Duvet was too heavy but we did fine with sheets
Cons: A balcony to relax on
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Privacy, tranquility and uniqueness of property.
Cons: A bit off the beaten path but preferred to staying downtown Hilo
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The proximity to the falls was amazing. The caretaker Laura was particularly friendly and helpful.
6.3 Good
Pros: Amazing views. Close to nature. Love the front cabin space.
Cons: Rules were unclear. The staff interaction was weird and uncomfortable. The cabin windows were unfinished. The rocks on the driveway were loud and cabins too close to each other, hot with no AC; so very hard to sleep. Dangerous walkways to the water.
7.5 Good
Cons: Was rather disappointed with the breakfast that provided nothing but sugar loaded foods. Some fresh fruit but not even boiled eggs. Pancakes, sweet breads and condiments, sweetened yoghurt... No thanks. Bring some fresh produce in that gives you good long lasting energy please for that price! Also seems like a hidden fee ($10) is jumped on you once you're there and not mentioned while booking via booking.com.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is perched overlooking a majestic waterfall, pouring into one of the best natural swimming holes I’ve ever experienced. This is the perfect spot for a swim before breakfast. The staff were kind and accommodating. The beautiful grounds feature a variety of bamboo and orchids. The opposite bank of the valley facing the hotel is a wall of untouched forest, making you feel immersed in the landscape. Great breakfast, too. Don’t miss the sweet black cat that accompanied me on my walk to the falls!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: There is an on-site waterfall which you have access too. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast spread was amazing. Great waffles.
Cons: Rooms are not air conditioned.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The vibe.

Pros: The breakfast was basic but everything that I needed every morning. The homemade bread was DELICIOUS!!! Also, thank you so much for the ear plugs! They were lifesavers. Those frogs are no joke.
Cons: Cockroaches. haha But I understand that they're to be expected. Everything else was wonderful. You met and exceeded every expectation that I didn't even know I had.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was comfy, the house is clean and nicely decorated. I really appreciated the signage from the main road and that it was lit at night!
Cons: Coqui frogs were loud at night, right outside the windows. The room came with earplugs and a white noise machine, which helped a little.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super friendly and helpful staff who gave us excellent recommendations for places to visit and cafes/restaurants etc. Whilst staying on the Big Island.
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Healthy, tasty food
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location & cleanliness: 10/10. For us it was a perfect accommodation, close enough to Hilo but still in the nature. Parking was free of charge. At the backyard you can find a small gym which is a good idea. Thanks for the homemade bread made by the host! :) (We've enjoyed it much.)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed the open area and the fruit left on the table. The fruit guide was also useful. The property was nice. We enjoyed the plantings and local foliage. The facility was extremely clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The exercise equipment needs to be updated.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location was great. The property decor was cool, our room was very comfortable.
Cons: The “private bathroom“ was very small, across the house in the laundry room. We only spoke with an employee when we arrived, although we heard someone each day, we didn’t see or speak to anyone after that.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very clean, staff nice, appliances so you could cook or do laundry very well organized. I loved the fluffy white robes in the rooms.
Cons: The price is just a tad bit high.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Our host Olga made us feel very welcome and gave us some excellent recommendations for sights and restaurants. The facility was very clean and felt serene.
Cons: Our bedroom came with a private half bath but it was not close to the room and didn't have a mirror or sink, just a toilet and shower (although it was a very good shower). But we did have a shared bathroom right next to the room.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Maureen had clear instructions in writing when I arrived, which directed me to a phone to contact her. She explained how to parking situation, where my room was located and what time breakfast was being served the next morning. She had a situation to take care of and I'd see her in the morning. The room was comfortable and the house was wonderful. It reminded me of an old rich aunty's house. Very warm, safe, clean and interesting. I would definitedlhy

Access to the beach is 1 minute walking, just crossing the road. Maureen’s is an Encyclopedia and can speak about Horses and Politics, and prepares a good breakfast too!

Pros: Scott and Robert truly have a little slice of Heaven. The rooms and property are absolutely immaculate. The landscaping is beautiful. The gazebo and rooms are so relaxing. The coffee and breakfast they serve you every morning is OUTSTANDING. We ate every bite of whatever Scott made us because WOW. Everything he made was incredible. They are also very attentive. I'm not a big papaya fan and they noticed I left my slice of papaya untouched in my fruit bowl the first morning so for 4 more mornings we were there I got extras of the other fruits and no papaya. They also gave us a map of the Big Island and pointed out all big attractions and also a few of their favorite spots. We would have never found our favorite beach if it weren't for them. We couldn't have imagined spending our honeymoon anywhere else. Thank you Scott and Robert for the exceptional experience you gave us. If anyone is thinking about staying here, just do it. Your search is over.
Cons: Every thing about Volcano Mountain Retreat was exceptional.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our BEST STAY EVER!! Fantastic accommodation in a wonderful surroundings. Hosts are incredibly kind and helpful, and can give you great indications on places to visit, tailored to your expectations. Breakfast is delicious and served anytime, as soon as they see you are awake. I told them my wife is vegetarian, and they prepared special breakfast for her every single morning. There is also a hot tub that you can use anytime. The place is just beautiful and is also perfect for stargazing. Beds are also amazingly comfortable, and the room is really well-equipped with a huge TV and cablechannels. We just cannot be more thankful to the hosts, they made our stay so much easier!! It was our first visit to Hawaii so we booked at different hotels, but next time we will definitely try to book our whole trip at VMR

Castle Hilo Hawaiian Hotel - Hilo - Building
10
8.4 Excellent (2,973 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Hilo's best full-service hotel, offers outstanding views of the ocean or quaint Hilo Town framed by the backdrop of Mauna Kea. Located on Hilo Bay, and approximately two miles from Hilo Airport, Hilo Hawaiian Hotel is the perfect headquarters for exploring the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Enjoy incredible views of Mauna Kea, Hilo Town, and beautiful and historic Coconut Island.
6.3 Good
Pros: The location is excellent. Very close to town and the airport
Cons: It was very expensive for a hotel with dated decor and a small pool which you had to walk through service areas and a carpark to reach.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: People who work there; standard of the hotel;
Cons: Hotel is not named Castle when you look it for; breakfast not included to price
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, friendly staff, beautiful ocean view, and comfortable room. I would stay here again.
4.3 Okay
Pros: It was right next to Hilo Bay where you can watch the fireworks on 4th of July.
Cons: 1) It was dated, needs renovation. 2) We ate at the cafe for dinner, we waited for awhile to get seated which was fine because it was busy that night due to 4th of July. However, she sat us on a table that she cleared but didn’t wipe so some parts of the table were still wet from the previous guests water rings and such. 3) we ate at the buffet the next day and the service wasn’t good either. We sat a few tables away from where the other guests where seated and the server rarely came to check on us. We had to constantly go to them to ask for things like coffee and ketchup. She only basically gave service to the ones closer to her. 4) when we checked out to go back to Kona (because that’s where we were flying out from), half way through our drive I realized that we forgot our jackets in one of the drawers as well as my son’s water shoes on the balcony. We called the hotel back and they said that the housekeeping didn’t notify them of any belongings that was left in the room, very dishonest on their part. 5) The hotel is tucked away somewhere where there’s not much restaurants around except for their own restaurant in the Hotel which had bad service.
6.8 Good
Pros: Location is good. The sea view is great.
Cons: Air conditioner is really loud.
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice view from the room, large room with a very comfortable bed. Parking was ample.
Cons: They did not inform us in advance that they would still be working on the entrance. The air-conditioning was dirty and definitely not cleaned in a while. Some days a few toiletries were missing from the bathroom.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room
Cons: No.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located close to the airport. It is also close to Hilo Downtown. Very friendly staff.
Cons: The menu is a a little bit pricy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about the hotel and staff made our trip so relaxing and enjoyable. Will highly reccommend it to family and friends. Can't wait to return to this outstanding hotel and staff...Mahalo for awesome customer service.
Cons: The shower head, I prefer hand held sprayerwith adjustable settings.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I'm not much into resort hotels, so this one was perfect for me. The hotel was probably less than 50% full, which was really nice. It was a quiet and restful stay. It's location was ideal, and the price was really fair. The room was clean, large, and had a wonderful view. All of the staff that I came into contact with were really helpful and polite. I love Hilo. The air is so clean, the colors are vibrant, and it's almost exactly as I remember it, in the 1970s. This hotel, and the good weather I enjoyed, made my visit as good as I could have hoped for.
Cons: That I couldn't stay longer.
7.0 Good
Pros: Friendliness
Cons: Hotel Resort Fee
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Location
Cons: An absolute dump! I actually like to refer to this place as the dump of all dumps. Room had ants in it, about 5 diff kinds of hair around the bathroom sink and what looked like vomit on the bed skirt. A shocking display of ignorance by this hotel.

9.2 Excellent (15 reviews)
6.3 Good
Cons: The staff was very friendly but they weren't good organized so there was a lot of waiting. Waiting at the front desk, waiting for towels (sometimes they'd didn't have towels but it took up to 20 minutes to get this answer while got were sent from one to another). The hotel is nice but it is really noisy. They have an old ventilation that makes really bad noise and in some rooms it is impossible to stay or sleep because of the noise. And some nights there is maintenance for the restaurant which is even more noisy. Or you are sitting at breakfast and they start to clean the pavement right beside you with a pressure washer which makes 70 db. The poll is small but nice and it is a beautiful view
10.0 Excellent
Pros: They really listen to guests feedback and made changes. The swimming pool now has railing along the side of the water for safety. Staffs were very friendly and courteous. Always greeting us with a smile.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Every thing
Cons: None
7.5 Good
Pros: Loved the location and all of the amenities on site. Grounds of the hotel were well kept! Kapohokine Adventures being on site was a nice bonus!
Cons: Room was not clean and felt very stale and sticky! I loved the hotel but the guest room was where we went to get clean and sleep and relax. Doesn't feel relaxing when you don't want to touch anything. Would not stay here again simply for that.
7.0 Good
Pros: Great location, room with ocean/bay view high f floor was wonderful;
Cons: Hospitality and friendliness of staff could have been better; both at reception and restaurant; hotel might need a little renovation
4.3 Okay
Cons: Terrible guest service So, the whole day, no one cleans the room. At 9 pm when we back to the hotel, we called the customer service, and It took a long ten minutes for someone to answer our call. When we told them about our situation, the guest service denied their mistake and claimed that they had already cleaned our room. We also told them to check our room, and no one responded for 30 minutes until we came to the lobby. After waiting for another 20 minutes in the room they finally decide to clean our room, merely. Overall, the whole experiences hooked way longer than it should. The guest service is rude and distrust whatever we said.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Front desk women on point, fast, informative, approachable. Valet on time and efficient. Room quiet and beautiful view.
Cons: Pool was closed... which was a big bummer
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I like the colour tone of the room, and it’s very modern. The room is quite spacious and it looks generally clean.
Cons: There were flies in the room (including the shower) and the air con was a bit loud.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Valet parking attendants.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location and super close to the airport.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting. Right on the ocean, with a fun pool.
Cons: Never had towels for the pool!
5.8 Okay
Pros: the person who checked me in was very friendly and helpful
Cons: I had a roach in my bathroom. The pillows were to soft my head sunk to the bed and my husband didn’t even use his. The woman who checked me out was not friendly at all and seemed to be looking for someone the whole time

Pros: It was very nice, quite and tidy place. Beautiful location. I had really good sleeping after a long trip from Melbourne to Kona and than trough Mauna Kea to Hilo. I was alone in the 2-beds room :) The stuff was friendly. Thanks for nice rest.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect, it was close by to a lot of the things we wanted to do on the island, we had a nicely private little area, etc. Don't go in expecting a lot of amenities. No breakfast (though there is coffee always available), not even a TV in the room (which was perfect for us, but don't go in with the expectation that it's going to be like your typical hotel)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, hostel atmosphere. There’s a shared outdoor gathering space, coin operated washers and dryers. The room was basic but fine. We had a two bedroom suite with beds in what was originally a living room so there were four single beds and a double. The room had a kitchenette.
Cons: As long as you realize this is a hostel more than a hotel, you will love it here.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We provided our own breakfast - the coffee was very good though. Everything was very clean and all basic requirements met. Staff were very helpful and friendly - we would definitely come again. Value for money excellent
Cons: Nothing really
5.8 Okay
Cons: Musty smell, poor bed linens, no teaspoons, no clothes air drying area, thin walls, cold coffee, reluctant to supply ice. Siobhan was incredibly helpful and the coffee condiments were good.

Pros: The free papayas at front desk were delicious. The candy was not. The restaurant next door is good with great breakfast.
Cons: The Paya brand toiletries they provide are too strong smelling. They need to change those. They have had them there a long time. Time to upgrade to something more neutral.

7.0 Good
Pros: Staff was friendly and the place was clean. Breakfast was excellent. Appreciate the bike availability and the pool looked very inviting.
Cons: The place is out of date and is along a busy road. They offered me a room with a king size bed, but I would have to climb the narrow steps with my heavy bag. Got the feeling that those rooms had been updated. I don’t usually spend this kind of money for a hotel so my expectations were high.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was super accommodating and friendly. The room was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The hotel had a very genuine Hawaiian feel to it.
Cons: The pool was closed during the latter half of our stay. The front desk staff was extremely apologetic for the inconvenience though, and actually cared about our disappointment.

Pros: Clean, large rooms, nice location, help close and very nice
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Me and my wife we love this place. It’s made us feel like home not a hotel. The owner was very nice he had fruits for us in the kitchen. At night we sleep very peaceful cause all the birds and animals sound. I would love to come back here again. Highly recommended to stay here, if you want to feel like living on the island.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The bed was very comfortable, but the pillows were not as fluffy as we wanted them to be. However, I love how the room felt homey and looked cute. There’s a ceiling fan and AC. (The AC was noisy though.) There is no office to check in and out, so you have to call the number that was provided to be able to access the room. Whoever answered the phone and took my information was very nice. He called me as soon as my room accommodation was confirmed. (We were able to get in the property early without any extra fee.) The staff who was there to assist us was Alan. He was very helpful. I asked for an extra bed. We left for awhile to eat lunch and did a few errands. When we got back, there was an extra bed and ready to be used. (So thankful because my husband was able to rest after a long drive from Kona to Hilo. We took Southwest.) Interestingly, the bathroom had an open shower area. The water pressure was perfect! Overall, we love the cottage!
Cons: No floor towel to dry the wet floor after taking a shower, so we left the window open to air dry the floor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We brought our own food
Cons: Clearer check-in information.
7.5 Good
Pros: Lovely garden and very close to the beach. Nice kitchen and friendly & helpful staff.
Cons: Extremely noisy AC in the room. The floor was a little dirty. The supplied fruit (eg: Papaya) was still unripe.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Claudia, the owner is very friendly and hospitality. Good breakfasts as requested, and fresh fruits.
Cons: Too dark around the property and need to trim plants and big trees to get more ocean view. No sign of B&B business!
4.5 Okay
Pros: Fresh fruits at breakfast were very welcome
Cons: Very disappointed to arrive at the venue after emailing the night before with our eta, only to be told Claudia needed an extra hour warning and to return in 50 minutes. We advised that we did not have access to wi fi,nor phone sim card, hence no formal means to communicate. Claudia was quite rude to the 4 of us and only that we had prepaid we would have left. One of our friends was scolded for not putting the sugar packet in the correct dish., and constantly monitored as if by our mothers.
6.8 Good
Pros: Breakfast was great . Unique setting. Comfortable bed
Cons: I didn’t feel like a guest
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Located near Hilo Airport so we could get to relax quickly after long flight. Owner welcomed us when we arrived. Very quiet and tropical.
Cons: Nothing wrong with B&B location in quiet neighborhood but area around airport is industrial.
5.0 Okay
Pros: very simple food and house,
Cons: reggeli
6.8 Good
Pros: The interior of the property was clean and well-maintained. The host was pleasant and readily available to guests.
Cons: The overall experience did not live up to the descriptions on the hotel website: “The separate guest wing affords ocean views across a salt water lagoon filled with local fish, colorful koi, ducks, and the occasional wild heron.” Not exactly. The “lagoon” consists of several stagnant ponds with some small fish visible. When we were there it was apparent these had not been maintained for some time – overgrown with decaying vegetation in the water. “All guests are invited to stroll through and relax in the garden. Enjoy the seaside atmosphere on over an acre of tropical gardens …” The “acre” is mostly overgrown - contrary to the website, most of the area is not accessible to guests who didn’t pack their machetes, and views are obstructed. The photos of the garden area are not representative of the current state of the property. “We provide a generous continental style breakfast featuring Big Island grown coffee and an assortment of teas, tropical fruits, yogurt, homemade coconut-mixed nut granola, fresh baked breads, muffins, and a savory cheese dish or freshly boiled eggs.” This is also not an accurate representation of the breakfasts we were served during our stay, which consisted of some fresh fruit (bananas or strawberries and papaya), hard-boiled eggs, a casserole more appropriate as a dinner side than breakfast (e.g., potato wedges and asparagus, or couscous), and a bread of some kind. One morning we had muffins, the next morning it was a loaf of bread, and the next morning it was what seemed to be store-bought coffee cake. We didn’t see any yogurt, granola, “fresh baked” breads (apart from the muffins), or savory cheese dish. The photos of breakfast on the website are not representative. As we ended our stay to move to another venue for our last two nights in Hilo, the host told us she believed we were leaving because we were looking for a “resort experience” and couldn’t tolerate the “rugged” aspects of her B&B.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The owner was easy to communicate with as we coordinated our checkin. When she heard we would be sightseeing on our way she forwarded links to places of interest which was helpful. Her inquiry regarding our dietary preferences was much appreciated. She is very friendly and served a delicious spinach souffle and fresh papaya for breakfast. Wonderful to chat with over an awesome cup of coffee! The property is surrounded by lush tropical trees and a lagoon full of wildlife across the street from the ocean. She has beach and snorkel gear to use.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect for the first day to look around old town!
Cons: air conditioner was noisy, but we were so tired we slept fine.
6.3 Good
Pros: Breakfast was always very good.
Cons: Frogs were very noisy right under our window
10.0 Excellent
Pros: If you love nature, you will love this place. The bed and breakfast is located in a nice quiet neighborhood with lots of trees and plants everywhere and outside the room and breakfast area is a view of their natural saltwater lagoon. As a plus it is right by the ocean too with a black sand beach close by (that I definitely recommend checking out). I also loved the decor of the house. It feels just as much like Hawaii inside as it does outside and the room was very clean and comfy. On top of all this, Claudia was very friendly and helpful and served great breakfasts with fresh tropical fruits and a variety of things she baked. The other guests were also friendly and I had a nice chat with them over breakfast. Overall it was a very pleasant and relaxing stay. Would definitely come again!
Cons: I honestly can't think anything.

Pros: SuperHost - such a warm welkome!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cynthia, the host, is amazing and so helpful. The room was nice and big. The bed was comfortable and there was a cooling fan that cooled the air and circulated it, which was helpful because it was a bit humid. The house also had a very nice outside sitting area where you come in and we had dinner there. Cynthia also set up the coffee pot for us so we could have coffee in the morning, as we were departing around 5am, and told us how to make toast and where the milk and jam was. All in all, the stay was great and I would recommend staying.
Cons: There was nothing bad about this stay.
7.0 Good
Pros: The proprietor was nice.
Cons: It was a cluttered feeling place. I didn't care for the shared spaces.
6.8 Good
Pros: Bathroom was very clean. Host is a very kind person. Could hear the frogs at night. Wifi worked well. Netflix available, ceiling fan & tower fan in the room, which is enough.
Cons: Breakfast was included but barely had toasts, jelly, ginger cookies, milk and pancakes, and a couple of bananas, so we ended up buying fruit and cereals ourselves. It was scary dusty under the bed.
4.0 Okay
Pros: I never selected 4 stars for this hotel. I selected 2 stars. There was no hot water for a shower when I arrived at 4pm. The room accessories, bedding , towels, TV access were substandard. The managers attitude only got worse after shower problem...
Cons: I would have asked for a refund if I had to do it again. I let before 5am the next morning. Poor off street parking.
