Pros: The hotel was home of a rich family. Hotel room booking include free admission tickets to the museum. Also can enjoy free onsen at another hotel. Staff walked us over (she is very very helpful). Location is scenic. I booked for breakfast only, and the breakfast was fantastic, especially the dish with beancurd that cooked in sparkling water.
Pros: People are very warm welcoming and nice
Cons: Nice view and cozy hotel
Pros: The staff treated us like royalty. Everyone was very kind. The best thing about this hotel was the breakfast and location. We had a traditional Japanese style breakfast. Everything it came with was delicious! The location is amazing. It is an ending spot for the boat ride so it was convenient for us. The amenities were great; shampoos were name brand, the refrigerator had drinks included that were free of charge (two waters, two sodas, two beers), a tea set with tea pot, cups, loose leaf tea, delicious mochi, and hot water dispense that was preheated and ready to use. As an avid tea drinker I really appreciated this (the tea was good, too). Overall a fantastic stay
Cons: Nothing really bad to say except that I would have liked to use the stairs instead of the elevator! The stairs from the second floor down to the first floor leads to the restaurant so it is blocked off.
Pros: They are extremely nice to us. Everything is perfect.
Cons: Nothing I didn't like
Pros: Staff is very helpful.
Pros: Room was super spacious, spotless and with western beds which convenienced my elder parents. Staff was excellent and helpful in every way, superb hospitality. Breakfast was also very good in traditional Japanese style. Whats best was out room overlooked the well groomed Japanese garden, and it was very tranquil and enjoyable. Excellent value for money, considering the quality of food and room and service altogether.
Cons: The night we were there (a Wednesday) all the restaurants nearby were closed , so we thought we would go back to the hotel for dinner only to learn that they dont provide restaurant service without prior booking. And they did not inform us of that info when we checked in. In the end they booked us at the one restaurant that was open and drove us there, the food was great afterall but would have been nice if they notified us of that earlier.
Pros: Scenery and surrounding
Cons: Cleanliness needs to improve
Pros: A truly beautiful location. The grounds are outstanding and there is also an excellent Onsen. The staff have to be among the best we have ever encountered. We will definitely return one day!
Cons: Having to leave
Pros: Old, traditional but nice and clean All drinks in the freezer are free of charge.
Pros: Everything was tastefully done and the staff were very helpful, kind and professional.
With a stay at Yamafuto no Yado Ichiboku Isso in Yamaga, you'll be a 1-minute drive from Hirayama Hot Spring and 7 minutes from Yachiyoza Theater. This ryokan is 16.5 mi (26.5 km) from Green Land and 3.9 mi (6.3 km) from Yamaga Onsen.
It is one and only guest house without meals in Yanagawa city, where you can enjoy relaxing stay as if you are at your grandma's.
Pros: Horikawa is a really cool place to stay. The owners are incredibly kind and very knowledgeable. The guesthouse is an old Japanese style house, which is aesthetically very pleasing. Even if I wasn't staying here, I'd want to come back just to hang out. Very highly recommend this place!
Pros: Situation, and typical.
Cons: Only one shower, but Onsen nearby.
Pros: Cosy, host is warm and friendly
Pros: location, hospitality, facility:)
Pros: Friendly and cosy
Pros: The owner was so nice. She picked me up at the station and told me a lot of things about Japan! It was a good experience overall. The house is superb! I definitely would come again!
Cons: Leaving the guesthouse is a bit hard for me as the bus going to the station only available every 30 mins. I have to walk to the station by myself with all the luggage which is pretty exhausting and far. It isn’t easy to find a taxi there too.
Cons: Room space was too small for 4 people, we could nothing to do beside sleeping. Cold air coming from window gap.
Pros: Common area downstairs was small but cosy. Beautifully made woodwork and thoughtfully decorated. Breakfast of miso soup and onigiri was simple but wholesome. Laundry for a nominal 100y and i liked that the balcony access is through the window :)
Cons: The room of the mixed dorm itself was pretty small, so would be a problem if your fellow guests smelled or snored.
Pros: The staff was very nice and the breakfast was delicious!
Pros: Warm and friendly
Situated favorably at a 3 minute walk from Nishitetsu Yanagawa station, this hotel is adjacent to a boarding dock for boat tours, which makes it convenient for sightseeing as well as business.
Pros: Facilities in the room, cleanliness and location
Pros: The steff were so kind. And the room was so clean.
Cons: It was hard to open the window in a room.
Pros: great location. clean rooms, well equipped
Cons: small rooms. mention of car park available but only three spaces available for a large hotel. Had to park elsewhere, pay for it on my own, and walk over.
Pros: Very clean hotel with modern bathroom.
Cons: Room a bit small for longer stay
Pros: Location: The hotel was really easy to find, only around 2 minutes by walking from Nishitetsu Yanagawa station. When we just arrived at Yanagawa, we didn’t even need to check the map since we saw the building with the hotel’s name immediately. The hotel is really close to the punting boat area, around 2-3 minutes by walking and you can ask receptionist for a really handwritten map about places near the hotel for more information. Room: The hotel itself is really new, modern and especially really clean. The size of the room was a little bit too small for us since we kinda like hotel rooms with more space to walk around etc., however it was very well-equipped. Necessities were all well-prepared and provided. Our room has the view to the river with punting boat which we found really attractive. Staffs, service: Staffs were very kind, polite and helpful. This hotel allows guests staying at the hotel to leave luggage in 1st floor reception area before check-in time.
Pros: Restaurant staff was good.
Cons: Reception staff was not good.
Pros: Location close to train & bus station, easy for cities transfer. On top of it, close to supermarket, convenience stores, river cruising stations etc and not too far from the core tourist area. So, can consider a strategic location. Staffs were helpful.
Cons: The table is too crowded with stuffs, leaving very limited space for guest usage, e.g. put laptop, drawing etc. Breakfast so so, thus I only eat the 1st day then skip the remaining 2 days.
Pros: Ok, clean modern hotel near station. Breakfast is very basic Japanese style.
Pros: Location is convenient to station, eateries n boat rental office. Hotel is new n twin room with 2 double beds was comfortable. Staff was approachable , friendly n helpful. Bathroom is small but clean. Will stay again.
Cons: Bathroom is small

Pros: The location is great close to two shopping Malls, drugstore with lots of things to buy apart from medicine there are many skincare, food & beverages. Close to a train station.
Cons: Standard business hotel food & restaurant feels like a canteen instead.
Pros: Small room but fully equipped (amenities and other electronic equipment.
Pros: Location , helpful staff , room a bit small but comfortable , free parking available
Cons: Could not find the hotel on GPS Breakfast was not good enough Not enough car parking spot in P1
Pros: New hotel
Cons: Staff need to improve their language to communicate with client
Pros: Close to railway
Cons: Everything closes very early or is shut.
Pros: The staff are nice and helpful. There are lot of variety in the breakfast. Location is next to train station and bus stop. Walkable distance to the river .

Pros: The staff are incredibly friendly, helpful and knowledgable!
Pros: Everything, especially the hostess hospitality and helpfulness. She went beyond expectations. Location was really good and the room was very cute and quaint. Thank you for a lovely visit in beautiful Yanagawa!
Cons: The only downside was the lack of toilet in the room.
Pros: The staff. Yakuza and her staff made us feel very welcome and were most helpful - and a lot of fun. The kaizeki dinner was really splendid and excellent value for money. The location near the punting station, and a top eel restaurant, is very convenient.
Cons: We knew this place was old, and it showed, particularly in the bathroom which appears difficult to clean properly.
Pros: Location was excellent. Very close to the start of the canal boat punting and also to a pleasant park. English spoken. Easy parking opposite.
Pros: The owner of the hotel is so friendly and helpful. The room is very clean, and they make different breakfast for us everyday. We will for sure come back again
Pros: The owner is very friendly. The location is around the punting boat boarding place and famous eel restaurant. This hotel feels like home with great homemade Japanese breakfast. The triple room with private bath was a joyful stay. ❤️
Pros: Location and old traditional style.
Cons: Has seen better days but still works.
Cons: noisy at night with scratching and running sounds at rooftop
Pros: The owner was very kind and helpful, giving me a lift on two occasions. The location is good: near the station but by a quiet waterway. A low chair was provided which was a mercy. My 69 year old knees don't take kindly to me sitting cross-legged on a cushion. The property does not have very modern amenities but it is moderately priced. Also, most ryokans seem to take couples only and I am a solo traveller.
Cons: It's an unreconstructed traditional ryokan but this is just a fact not a criticism. There is no point in comparing it with a hotel.

Pros: Traditional 100 + years Japanese old house, super cozy, clean place and quiet neighborhood. Friendly host that very helpful. Recommend for all travelers.
Pros: A very Japanese historical house in a very Japanese neighbourhood.
Cons: Security seems an issue with only a glass door although Japan is a safe country. Do not know why my nose keep running when I'm on the ground floor of the house. Check in and check out time must be agreed with the host beforehand. A bit lack of flexibility.
With a stay at Yamaga Onsen Seiryuso in Yamaga, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Hirayama Hot Spring and Yamaga Onsen. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: friendly helpful staffs. comfortable and good size Japanese style room. Onsen is nice though a bit too small. Our keiseki breakfast was really good with a nice river view too.
Pros: The rooms were fine, including the one with private onsen. Room size was good. Dinner was good.
Pros: The hotel was really nice and had an outdoor foot spa. It was near the mountain and the air was fresh. The room we stayed was traditional Japanese style, super clean and comfortable. It was a memorable experience staying there.
Pros: A nice place to get away from it all. Very relaxing hot spring. The town is very cute and small and quiet (so don't expect any big city entertainment). The breakfast and dinners were excellent but make sure to book in advance if you want dinner on your first day. Very friendly staff and really gracious lovely owner. About 45 min public bus ride from Kummamoto city which has excellent tourist facilities and historical sites and scenic spots.

Pros: Amazing room! Great public bath! Even nicer staff (lady fan of 박효신 - Park Hyo Shin) who made me smile for quite a while. No problem with help! People were so nice and kind! Everything was clean........ Spider web with huge spider on balcony close to window but it's not a minus! I'm just scared of them soooooo much. But it's not a big deal at all.
Pros: Beautiful balcony overlooking a garden, good room layout and very comfortable space
With a stay at Satsuki Bessou in Tamana, you'll be steps from Tamana Onsen and a 3-minute drive from Jagatani Park. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Breakfast and dinner was great. Location was a little far from the city, but that's what we were looking for.
Cons: The room was small for 4 people, it could have been better if we were provided with a bigger room or be informed that 2 rooms were needed to accommodate 4 people.
Pros: value for money!! location might be a bit hidden but it’s wonderful for getaway! big dinner and family style breakfast both very delicious and fresh helpful staff
Cons: we saw 2 huge spiders in our room.. the staff quickly helped us to remove them tho

Pros: The staff were super friendly though they didn’t speak much English and communicating was challenging. Beautiful setting and nice, clean pool.
Cons: The building was old, the rooms weren’t very clean and outdated and everything smelled like smoke. The beds were very uncomfortable. Didn’t realize we had to pay for pool use.
Pros: Good breakfast
Cons: Very old and run down
