Beds turned down, towels?teasmaid refreshed, linen tablecloths/napkins, breakfast served at table Recepetion was adequate, no great welcome or indifferent during stay. Chap on duty on checkout good. Overcharged £40 on rate quoted but have refunded since we came home. Was a hotel manager should be meeting people but did not happen
It was very comfortable and the dinner was excellent. We had to ask for fresh cooked breakfast as otherwise we got food that had obviously been kept under a warmer and dried up
Frendliness of hotel staff & hotel character
Nice hotel in a very nice town.excellent location and a large, pleasant room. no
The Hotel is in a pleasant area. Within the Hotel itself the food was good and the accomodation was reasonable. The public areas are in need of refurbishment and have certainly deteriorated since we were last there. Whilst the food was good one had the impression that certain guests were given preferential treatment, this is totally unacceptable and all guest should be treated in a like manner
The location of hotel. The interal decor - the hotel has a comforting, homely feel to it. The hotel is beginning a programme of refurbishment which means that the decor will be to an even higher standard. The food was excellent - the best we've ever eaten at the Black Swan. The quality of the Black Swan never disappoints us. We have booked the hotel for weekend breaks over a period of twenty years and each time we feel it just gets better.
It has character, is warm and comforting with nice fire and lounges unlike many hotels used for business. The restaurant is very good with fantastic food. Eating late. Both times we have stayed we have not been able to eat before 9pm. This time we requested 8pm, were told 8.30 but not sat down until 9 - getting our starters at 9.30.
It is just a Great hotel. The most complete, staff, service, food, location. We both loved it and will be going back.
Having a room with a floor above, in the older part of the hotel, gave rise to loud creaking floorboards
Very quiet and relaxing fodd was very expensive.
what a fantastic time, we had at this hotel, everything was superb, chris is especially helpful and entertaining, rooms are more than clean and everything you need for a comfortable stay is available, i am really looking forward to our next visit,
Excellent breakfast Rooms are a little small
It was clean, quiet, the owner was friendly and helpful, the breakfasts were well cooked, the honesty bar was a bonus.
Staff were very helpful with all requests and pasted on local knowledge to our selfs of good restaurants in the area None
Very comfortable and friendly None
Excellent friendly staff, warm and welcoming.
Service, excellent, breakfast first class, rooms cleaned and tided every day. Friendly accommodation and owner was very helpful and a great host,
Good food, clean room- towels changed every day. Chris was the perfect host, nothing was too much trouble. None
Plumpton Court is an amazing place to stay. It is set in peaceful, beautiful surroundings. Chris was fantastic and very accommodating. The breakfast was enjoyable and very filling. The whole place was very comfortable and relaxing. The Indian restaurant down the road was great too. None!!!!!
Staff were very friendly, the room was comfortable and the breakfast was excellent
Staff were nice. Cottage had lovely bed and nice facilities. Not a bad price £75 per night. No internet. Wifi would not connect to internet for anyone! Lasagna was awful and expensive. Portions were small. Sofa was like concrete. The kitchen and living area of cottage was very basic. Parking is very tight and limited.
food was very good Hotel and room did not look anything like the pictures. WC did not flush, and not fixed during our 4 day stay. Would Not recommend
The Hotel is very well located for touring North Yorkshire. Staff are friendly and keen to please. The Hotel is well managed and brings together visitors and locals in a cosy bar lounge which we found relaxing. When the hotel is busy with meals - it is a well respected restaurant - it can be difficult parking in the spaces allocated at the front of the hotel and at the rear.
Was a little apprehensive at first as we booked this hotel as it was the only one in the area that would allow us to stay one night only at a price that was reasonable, rather than on reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised, staff were very friendly, rooms were clean and my daughter and her boyfriend were celebrating a birthday were very impressed with the romm in the roof, very spacious, however the best thing was the food we had a evening meal which was one of the best we have had for a good while, as an ex chef am very hard to please but oh boy! fantastic food, good service and reasonable price. would stay there again. nothing
Friendliness and efficiency of the large team of staff. Good food at most times of the day. Easy-going atmosphere.
Although a relatively small jhotel staff were all very friendly and efficient. breakfast was superb!
Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere N/A
Very enjoyable stay, friendly effecient staff. Excellent food, great location for visiting the North York Moors and James Herriot country.
the peace and quiet - good food and pleasant people
Excellent food in restaurant, well presented and prompt service.
nothing really Very cheap furniture, no pillowcases on arrival, breakfast awful
The staff were very attentive and made our stay very enjoyable. Shame about the owners attitudes, not very pleasant people. Bit of a let down
The Hotel was only a 2-star but good value for money and exceptionally clean, and the room we had was very spacious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only fault I can find is that the shower in room 9 was not very good, the water was very slow in coming out of the taps to have a bath and the shower is not very efficient. Could do with being more powerful.
Rhe room and en suite were disappointing as was the decor of the bedroom wing.
location, gardens & parking
The staff were very friendlyand the room we stayed in was very clean and tidy, Altogether a very pleasant stay. Some of the corridors leading to the rooms could do with decorating as first impressions were not good, but when we arrived at the rooms themselves, they were fine.
The restaurant served superb food. The room facilities were a little dated, but great bathroom
The facilities were excellent, but the upgrade was even better and the room was very homely and spacious. Nothing
the staff were well trained and friendly the homely feeling the hotel gave encourages me to recommend this hotel to good people
We had a good twin room on the ground floor with outside space to sit. There was plenty of space and a good bathroom, but no shower and poor lighting. We booked two rooms, one of which was a single. That one was on the top floor and we were on the ground.
Extremely comfortable with pleasant and helpful staff
The hotel staff were all very pleasant and attentive with a good knowledge of waht was happening in the hotel Nothing to worry about
The friendliness of the Staff and the attention to detail was excellent. There did not appear to be anything which would have been too much trouble and the rooms were of a high standard. An enjoyable experience! N/A
Warm staff, clean rooms, good interior and service, excellent food. Good bathroom interiors and spa.
Excellent food, friendly staff, good atmosphere, lovely bathroom, nice new spa our daughter's room (booked at short notice, upgraded to a suite) was lovely and overlooked the pool and spa None really our room (booked at short notice, upgraded to a suite)was lovely inside but overlooked the car park
Fantastic Hotel. Staff were friendly and efficient. The rooms were lovely - very comfortable and stylish. The food was excellent. The attention to detail throughout the hotel was brilliant.
Lovely hotel , lovely rooms , food was delicious . Spa excellent & staff service could not be faulted. None
Excellent, attentive service
All very nice Bathroom could have been cleaner, basin and toilet rim.
Pleasant, very helpful staff. Excellent breakfast with a good choice of food. Soiled duvet cover on bed. Used crisp bag left in drawer.
Good room, very spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast well cooked and properly served. Facilities were fine. I was surprised to find that we were allocated a room different from the one I had booked. I was somewhat exasperated when I discovered that the room number had been altered on the room card, the room obviously having been given to someone else. I had particularly reserved a room overlooking the square for nostalgic reasons. I was none too pleased that it had been allocated to someone else after my reservation had been agreed. The upgraded room was very pleasant but not what I originally asked for. I hope the hotel system will be reviewed to ensure that this situation does not arise again. Otherwise everything was fine, and the reception clerk was most apologetic.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was good value for money in the evenings . It is a popular local venue and has a good local reputation. There was a limited choice for breakfast eg only orange juice and no other fruit juice was offered and no yoghurt. The portions for all meals was so generous that the hotel must have considerable wastage.
Great location in the centre of Helmsley. Very spacious room. Splendid evening meals served very rapidly despite the crowding at Bank Holiday. Tv in the room was a bit poor and the outside gate slamming caused the bed to bounce. Choice at the breakfast buffet was limited though it might have been available if requested (Cornflakes and Grapefruit juice)
Friendly atmosphere, pleasant helpful staff and good food.
Arrived 20.00hr and left 07.00hr the staff made us welcome even though my son and I had been marshaling on a rally all day.lovely log fire in the bar area and excellent meal.we were leaving early next morning so staff had left toaster and cereal out in bar area for US.1st class service all round
Staff made us feel very welcome and the small problem that arose was dealt with quickly and efficiently
Pleasant and quiet location. Staff friendly an efficient.Good food Twin room slightly on small side but otherwise good
Beautiful location, quiet, comfortable and relaxed. Helpful and friendly staff. Good food. N/A
Comfortable , friendly helpful staff , lovely , reasonably priced food and a nice location for walking in the country
Great stay friendly and efficient staff excellent food in restaurant.
Didn't really stay long enough to comment - arrived late one night and left early next morning. Liked the beer - Black Sheep real ale. Menu looked good but arrived too late to try it out. Breakfast didn't start till 8.30 am. We needed to leave early, so they did provide a basic fruit juice, cereal, toast and kettle breakfast, though no discount on the B&B price for it. Shower power was very low. Our twin room was noisy - above the bar and didn't quiten down until the bar closed - OK for us as we were late - other rooms may be OK.
The staf were all friendly and helpful. Food (both evening meal and breakfast) wer good. Rooms 6 and 7 are over the bar area and are noisy until closing time. Only rooms near the reception receive wireles internet access - room 7 doesn't.
The food was interesting, good and well-presented. Staff in general were pleasant and helpful. The owners did not live on the premises. Assistance was not always easily avauilable.
Very comfortable, food excellent, pleasant reception and staff very attentive. I highly recommend this place to others. Some of lights in room did not work .
The rooms were very comfortable with excellent showers. The complimentary touches in the room made you feel special and cared for. The staff were extremely helpful and went the extra mile to ensure our needs were catered for. The food was excellent.
The location in the countryside and close to Helmsley is good and the drive to the hotel is scenic. From our experience of staying in similar priced hotels in the same region, this hotel is over-priced for the size of the room, even though the owners do everything possible to provide a friendly service and extras such as Sherry and bottled water in the rooms. This is more like a gasto pub with well presented guest rooms and the views were mainly on-route rather than through the windows.
Friendly welcome, good dinner, comfortable beds. Thoroughly pleasant atmosphere all round. Beautiful location. Curtains in room not too effective - poorish exclusion of light. Radiator perhaps too efficient! My wife commented that the dressing table was rather cluttered.
Comfortable room, lovely setting and excellent food. Very peaceful location.
Pretty much everything. Excellent accommodation, terrific service and beautiful food in an idyllic setting. Booked in again straight away for May The tv didn't have a working remote control and the emergency exit signage in the room was too bright when trying to sleep. The former is minor and the latter is compulsory for health and safey reasons so can't be helped
A very pleasant country Inn. Nice people and clearly well run. Accommodation is not in the main hotel but in a converted barn / garage about 100 yards away. The room was very small - door to the bathroon could not open fully as it banged against the wasbasin
The Location primarily. The friendliness of the staff and management. The food!! Our room was located above the bar area and a little noisy until closing time, but this did not spoil our overall enjoyment.
the location, the food, the clean rooms. not having a lounge, more light snacks on menu, vegeterian options, better tvs in room.
breakfast was good The room was not what was described on your web site, had a nausea smell made my partner uncomfortable ,paint or heating oil i think .Room 16 on the green ,cleanliness not good ! damp in the bathroom needs updating not worth the price need to describe on web site that rooms are very small .More B and B than hotel will not be staying again
The attention of all the staff. We arrived in very cold weather and each night hot water bottles were placed in our beds. The food was excellent. Only a small point did suggest to the management that they consider installing bath hand rails. Climbing in and out of a bath, especially when elderly can be difficult and dangerous.
The Worsley Arms is ideally situated for where we wanted to be during a short break in Yorkshire.
Very friendly helpful staff. Excellent evening meal. Being a small hotel everything was more personal. The breakfast was not of the same standard as the evening meal and felt this let the hotel down.
The warm and friendly atmosphere. The village where it is situated was stunning. Food in restaurant was great and the service by staff was second to none Decor in bedrooms a little "tired". Our carpet had bad stains which could have easily been cleaned and paintwork and tiling needed attention. Otherwise a lovely stay
It was convenient for the area, and was available at short notice There was nothing to actively dislike
quiet area no
Central, welcoming, relaxing
The staff were lovely and breakfast was nice. We were given a room with a broken window that was also very cold. Didn't expect this in a 3* hotel.
The individuality of the rooms and dining areas. Very comfortable bed. Some traffic noise
