Pros:Car was clean and would have been very nice, if I had been more comfortable driving it. Staff person, Xzerius, was very friendly and explained things clearly. He also expressed interest in me as a person and in my trip, and gave helpful pointers for my stay in Las Vegas.
Cons:They gave me a minivan when I reserved a compact. I am not a very experienced driver, and my car at home is a compact, so I felt very uncomfortable and unsafe driving such a big vehicle. It would've also been nice to have a stand for a phone or GPS on the dashboard, as out of towners who rent cars often use those to navigate, and glancing down to a phone to figure out where to go does not add to the safety of driving. Finally, I think insurance and various random surcharges should be bundled into the quote. I ended up paying twice what I thought I would, but I guess this always happens with car rentals.

Pros:Basic no frills car rental that is clean and reliable enough for a very fair price..
Cons:The problem with low cost, no frills car rental agencies like Payless is that they make a significant portion of their revenue by sneaking in extras like "road side assistance" that almost no one catches, and then of course the dreaded insurance coverage up sell.. They also sock it to you if you want to extend your reservation beyond the time you originally stated you would return the care and they make the process very difficult. You need to actually come back to the airport and talk to the manager in duty of you want to get an extension, even if it is just later in the day that you have already paid for!

Cons:I was a couple hours late for my pick up time and they tried to rip me off. But I'm not a rookie at this so I just walked. It's a typical Vegas type scam from a legit business. They said they don't have the model car I reserved but for $100 more, I could get an upgrade. So I just rented from another company. Funny thing is...while I was waiting, I looked up on Kayak what they were charging at Payless and sure enough it said they had the exact car and price that I had reserved it for. I rent cars once or twice a month but it isn't going to be from Payless again..

Cons:We tried to drop the car off at the Payless airport location. They re-directed us to Avis, who had no idea what to do with us. It was very confusing, but the Avis rep called thePayless rep, and it all worked out in the end,.

Cons:The rental was not available to us upon arrival. They upgraded the vehicle which was good but that vehicle was also not available. Waited for over an hour because they told us a vehicle was being washed. the vehicle we rec'd was not washed - it looked like it had been driven off road - very muddy and dirty. We will never rent from Payless or go thru Kayak again. Terrible service from Payless but I guess you get what you pay for!
