I liked it, we had upgrade to Audi Q3 for same money
The paperless transaction resulted in my paying much more I add-one than I realized. I couldn’t see the impact of the charges, and the salesman smoothlyexplained them in a way I did not follow well. I will demand to see the figures in writing next time. Also, the navigation system in the car needed updating - several times we were on a major autobahn or cloverleaf where we needed guidance, and the nav system thought we were in a field.
I missed when booking that pickup was not at the airport. I though that’s how a booked it, apparently not. After flying all night I had to take and pay for a taxi into the city of Frankfort. Was a costly and stressful situation. I wish there was a stronger indication that it was not at the airport, especially when dealing with a foreign country.
Will NEVER even try to rent a car from anyone in Europe EVER again. Screwed twice now. Would rather walk or buy my own car.
Sixt has great cars but the customer service was disappointing. Perhaps it’s different in Germany than US. We arrived 3 hours late due to late plane and lost luggage . Sixt apparently holds your car for one hour. In our case it didn’t really matter as our car (medium sized suv) had been in a crash . I was first offered a smaller vehicle for same price but then told sorry that one is not available after all. The only car available was an upgrade (from small to large suv) . I had to pay 2x my original price on top of my original price to upgrade . The girl told me she gave me the best price possible. Very disappointed as we are traveling for 3 months and had booked almost a year in advance to get a good price . This really threw our tight budget off as we really needed a car with my husbands elderly cousin traveling with us and going to smaller villages . As far as the car we were very happy with it , great car , just not happy with having to pay for an upgrade which ended up costing us 3x our original booking . Not to expect everything in other countries to be as America- but it only seems like the right thing to do is not charge when you don’t have the reserved vehicle . One thing I was very pleased with and is better than the states - I had a cancelled flight and had to change airports and it was not that expensive to return the car to Koln instead of Frankfurt.
I expected trouble from many of the Sixt reviews. Their price was the cheapest and I rented the car for a month. I put almost the full amount of free kilometers on what was nearly a new car, didn't vacuum or wash it, and despite not hitting anything or having anything hit me (no damage), expected, due to the reviews them to fight me for the deposit as I declined all the insurances since my credit card covers up to replacement of the vehicle. Fears unfounded, no extra charges. Pick up and drop off couldn't have been easier. Basically, a new car, cheap rate, easy experience - full marks
