Loved the colonial feel of the place, I could easily have been in the Deep South, last century or the one before. The bathrooms alone are worth the stay, spotless and unique. I will always stay here when in San Fran, always, and mainly for the bathrooms. The massage chairs (on every floor) are an utter delight too, cleverly taking out the effects of the day's hill walks, it is San Francisco remember. This is one of my favourite hotels in the world.
Couldn't fault a thing.
Amazing decor and so many little extras like free drinks in reception, computer and printer for boarding passes, luggage storage.
Rooms are small but thats the building. No privacy curtains in rooms
Everything it was perfect
I liked that it was close to the centre of town. Plenty of restaurants around. And it was close to Fisherman's Wharf.
There wasn't anything I didn't like.I enjoyed everything about my stay in San Francisco.
Its overall awesome!
The San Remo Hotel is an ideal choice for the traveler eager to experience the authentic San Francisco atmosphere. Just a short distance from Fisherman’s Wharf, it is part of the North Beach neighborhood known for old-world buildings and Victorian architecture. It is also where some of the country’s most famous and oldest Italian restaurants remain, and so it is a good accommodation for the foodies of the world in addition to business or leisure travelers.
Not far from Ghirardelli Square, with its premium boutiques and chocolate shops, and steps from a cable car stop, it is a good place to begin an exploration of the city. Union Square is just one block from the hotel’s front door! However, that is not to say that the hotel is without an array of luxuries and comforts of its own. Decorated with lots of historic items and antiques, it offers concierge services, free Wi-Fi, coin-op laundry, parking (for a fee), tour and ticket help, and a cozy bar and lounge in the lobby area.
The rooms are like stepping back in time as most are beautifully decorated in the Old West style of early San Francisco. The hotel was built in 1906 and retains much of that historic charm and esthetic. The rooms are available as double, triple, single or family-sized. Where they differ from other properties is in their classic “pensione” design. This means that the rooms are well-appointed but share a bath with others on the floor. Most feature a sink in the bedroom area. There is also the coveted penthouse with its rooftop views of some of the city’s most famous sights.
With a perfect location and old world charms, the San Remo Hotel is a good choice for visitors to San Francisco.
