Wonderfull building in teh city center, modern rooms, very comfortable beds.
Excellent! Nice, comfortable, new design and equipment, super central location for city walk.
I was able to obtain parking for my two nights in front of the hotel. Very convenient to Ortygia. The breakfast staff person, a young man, was extremely attentive and polite. The balcony overlooking the street was a nice feature of our room. The staff did not have a good idea of how and where to direct tourists for restaurants, the bus system (we tried to follow the staff's directions, but it did not work) or other features of Syracuse. I believe that some printed material and instructions on these matters would be very helpful.
Beautifully designed and furnished old building in an excellent central position. Ten minutes walking distance to Ortiga and station and 15 minutes to all the thistorical sights. This was the best value most comfortable hotel in which we stayed in Sicily. So good we stayed an extra night.
The location and price Decoration of rooms could be improved
This hotel is excellent, clean, modern with lots of light. Our room was large with a balcony, plasma TV, room temperature control, mini bar and power shower. The buffet breakfast was excellent. Lots of relaxing seating indoor and outdoor. The location is excellent and short walk to Ortigia and all the archaelogical sites.
Great location near Ortigia, very good value for money. Bathroom very good equiped with Jacuzzi.
Excellent location and quiet - the first hotel in Sicily to achieve this. Plenty of bars, cafes, restaurants nearby. Bit of a trek to breakfast from our room but well worth it - both for the buffet and the outstanding views while enjoying it.
Great location. The island is great! The parking is terrible. There is no shuttle as indicated. It is at least a mile walk. Once you find the parking lot there are spaces that are for handicapped but are very poorly marked. Unfortunatdly we parked in one of them and received a parking ticket. Including this cost and the hotel cost made the cost of the hotel very expensive. The procing at this hotel is a bit of a bait and switch. At check in the staff tries to talk the traveller into an upgrade. And for good reason. The standard room is more like a jail cell than a hotel room. So we upgraded for 20 more euros. Alse the elevators are scarey. Very noisy and unstable. My wife used the stairs instead.
Location Nothing like a 5 star hotel at best an average 4 star
Location is great - you turn the corner uphill and beautiful piazza and great dining options are steps away. This hotel isn't deserving of it's five star status. Yes, it has great bones and it has a wonderful location but it needs updating - while renovations can be costly - takes basic maintenance and pride for 5 stars to have clean walls in the room and Clorox for the mildew in the bathroom. Staff was nice but poorly trained.
friendly staff and spoke good English which i expect from a 5star. i was dissappointed that when i requested a room with a bath and told it might be possible that it never happened and nobody spoke to me about it again.i also hoped after expressing dissappointment with the lift out of use that it might be possible to move to another part of the hotel where lift worked. i had a small child aged 3 and i felt we were not fully understood and having to take a service lift was no fun.overall it was a good experience. we hope to visit scilly next october again.
Excellent 5 star hotel - one of the best hotels of our Sicily trip. Junior suites are spacious and finished to a very high standard. Cleaning comes twice a day and small details/gestures (fresh cakes and fruits in the room, ...) make this hotel a true gem. Breakfast is very good with something for everyone (not just the sweets that make up a local breakfast) and it is served on a gorgeous rooftop resaturant/terrace. As a city, Siracusa is very pleasant and worth a long stay. I found it more interesting and less crowded than Taormina and also more affordable.
location of hotel is excellent.Staff very helpful and frienly.Lounge bar could do with upgrade, very stuffy. Rooftop bar. Only had one drink. No buzz or atmosphere.
The beautiful view over the bay Very late service by chambermaid to make-up the room
The central location in the old town The balcony with seaview
outstanding location on the sea and view. Rooftop restaurant. Spa. no parking and using the street is almost impossible. The Hotel is immense and was very empty and dull; personnel was demotivated (end of season); building needs anyhow renovation. The room was about OK, but the bathroom was far below standards (no tub, old fashioned, leaks everywhere,etc...). However, low season rate is, in globo, competitive. In summary:nicely decadent.
lose to centre , fantastic view ,
Attention to details like flowers in common areas Clashing styles of decor
Convenient for touring the city, everything within walking distance
the pool is lovely and the grounds stunning- lots of pretty shady corners to relax quietly, with flowers, trees and views of the gorge. A comfortable hotel with helpful staff. easy parking in hotles own car park. Quiet at night. Convenient for Archaeological park. It is quite a long walk to Ortigia, especiallly on the way home when you are tired from sightseeing, although we did do it- say 20 mins. Expensive bar.
Great Breakfast. Nice Pool. Seaview from our room. Internet didn't work, no wifi anyway. Breakfast service not very attentive. Our room was not very clean (especially in the corners or under the bed.) Some tasteless modern elements in the beautiful architecture. This is a middle-class hotel in the building of an old luxury hotel.
for the price we felt that the size and facilities in the room were poor. On the first night it appeared that the staff were overstretched by a wedding reception and the meal was disappointing.
Proximity to town centre
Lovely room and pool We had trouble finding the hotel. They need a better map on their web site.
Many previous reviews commented on the location of the hotel as being far from the town; this was not so. A cycle hire scheme (rather like that one newly installed in London) was close by and three buses were immediately available to take you to the station or the main town. The main museum was close at hand. No town based hotel could possibly have had such a wonderful location with a large well organised pool area which was never crowded. The rooms were cool and clean and the food was wonderful (and not overly expensive). The staff were friendly and attentive and this is one of the best hotels we have stayed in at a very reasonable price.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Good parking and close to sightseeing and the sea.
The location was excellent and the breakfast very good. I had a 2 story room and it was very inconvenient because since the closet was downstairs I constantly had to run up and down the stairs.
The hotel was lovely and the location great. The breakfast overlooking the sea was very special. The lobby was very nice. I think there was a great discrepancy between the attitude of the male and female receptionists. The female was on duty when we arrived. She showed us a duplex room which looked treacherous. We asked for and took a room on one floor. It was dark, small and near the service elevator. Perhaps, it was in response to two women travelling alone. The male receptionist was helpful and delightful. He made good suggestions for dinner and helped us with the internet. It was too late to change rooms because we were only there for 2 nights.
It's located in a quiet area and especially so at night! Free parking across street in lighted exclusive lot. Comfortable beds, firm foam. Top floor location for breakfast with nice view. When there was a toilet flush problem we were given another room without any hesitation. Wi-Fi only in downstairs lounge. Tall-sided bath tube instead of walk-in shower. Inexcusably bad coffee for breakfast (This is Italy!!) The toilet stopped flushing so we had to move rooms.
convenient to the town and harbour. a very pleasant situation I was most disappointed that the terrace was closed "due to an infestation of animals" as one member of staff explained to me. The boat transfer to a beach (as decribed on the website) was also not available. Its cessation in mid September was not mentioned on the site.
Excellent location and staff... very helpful and professional. Quality interiors and Junior suite was large and comfortable for the money.
It was not crowded and it is situated in a very quiet area but it is far from Siracusa centre. I did not have time to expierience this hotel very much because i stayed only 1 night.
the room was clean, the staff very kind... breakfast was very poor...
The hotel was lean and very modern....but even better was the staff!!! They were always there to help! nothing
I must say the decor was quite nice, and Hotel facilities are Satisfying. The Location, it's Surroundings. Very Poor Breakfast not even Fresh Orange Juice was available only Juice diluted with Water, not to mention that no Toasted bread or Brown Or Rye Bread was available. What should be Scrambled Eggs(the only thing that was available warm) were sitting in a bed of Oil besides the fact that they were Dry as they were sitting in the Serving Pot for so Long, My recommendation is to have Boiled Eggs with their skin on, these would serve the purpose much better. The Hotel Management asks you not to use so much water and towels, but then the Hotel Management has not put an extra door in the shower! So when you shower the room is all in Water!!!
breakfast good, staff very helpful Constant annoying music in all public places; atmosphere was "dark" everywhere - like living in a disco during the daytime; no massage facilites available when requested; limited evening meal menu and very few staff available at any time. Took a long time to serve us dinner. Bathroom very poorly designed - shower floods the toilet area, bad smell, air con not easily controlled.
Unique hotel, friendly staff Hotel was difficult to find the first time
quite, confort, excellent design far from center of the town
Very pleasant and helpful staff Limited sports channels on tv
Perfect gym facilities. Perfect breakfast. Distance to the center.
The peace and quiet, like we were the only people staying there. The staff had very little english.
This is a great hotel that we would certainly recommend. Situated just in front of Syracusa, the location is exceptionnal. Very good service, nice and large rooms.
Excellent staff, very helpful and pleasant at all times. Great position near to town and parking easy and cheap. very comfortable rooms. Nothing
decor fabulous; situation convenient for centre of Ortigia; staff very helpful; breakfast very good no
An up scale hotel of comfort and fine location. A hotel of period architecture beautifully restored Front rooms with full water views unfortunately overlook the busy street and parking area. Opt for a room with a lateral view of the sea.
Friendly personel and nice rooms Poor breakfast
we loved Ortigia
It is very well located on the island of Ortigia. It is not as luxurious looking as either the pictures or the price indicate. I also had requested a reservation at a restaurant early in the day and was informed at 8:45 in the evening that they could not take us.
Hotel was very charming. Hotel staff were excellent and very helpful. The food in the restaurant was also excellent. The breakfast was very good and there was also an additional menu available on request. They have one room with a sun terrace and Jacuzzi which is a real treat. Very enjoyable stay at this hotel and would definitely recommend it. Absolutely nothing
Friendly staff. Attractive, well located hotel.
The place was relaxed and comfortable Costume jewellery went missing when luggage was transferred to another room.
Highly recommended. Everything was 1st class, from the Restaurant to the Room, from the Staff to the facilities. There has been a misunderstanding about my room, which was dealt with professionalism and the problem sorted out quickly and in the way I expected in a place like this.
Excellent facilities in this very comfortable hotel situated close to some of the historical sites in Siracusa. It is not conveniently located to explore Ortigia - 30 minute walk!
Brand new so everything is still very clean and new. no
New hotel, close to some of main tourist attractions in Syracuse. Offers free parking and nice solarium / pool. Very nice staff with good breakfast. Room decoration and comfort excellent. Best hotel I’ve stayed in. none
Staff helpful and efficient. A hotel fully up to international standards for groups and individual travellers. Location is not ideal for 'seeing' Syracuse old town, and some distance from downtown restaurants unless visitor wants to rely on taxis. For that reason is better for mature travellers than families.
International feel, free parking, swimming pool, contemporary style, great for access to archaeological park Minor gripe- we had to phone down to reception each time we wanted the air conditioning in our room switched on. This request was never denied but it could haver been better explained at the start
Just few minutes from the city center. clean and comfort. feels like business hotel. hotel is new and modern. breakfast cost 10 euros for person.
the modern look of the hotel
I liked the room. The stuffs were helpful. The dinner buffet was excellent.
Location is excellent and the staff were very helpful.Comfortable attractive room and very good breakfast
Very good for business, not as a holiday hotel Too far from the old city centre
fresh renovation, location, views, spa, friendly staff not particularly
We actually liked everything but 2 problems, pls see below. Especially we liked sea view from the balcony and free of charge wi-fi access. We asked to clean our clothes in lavanderia, and when we got it back - my wife's jeanse were missed.. That happened in her birthday so she was a bit dissapointed. And so far (5 days passed) nobody can let us know how we can get it back. Plus within 5 days which we've spent in the hotel - 2,5 days we had some problems with the water (some time there were no water at all)
the location and view of the sea were excellent. the spa was ok. the hotel organised a massage efficiently and the massage was excellent. the bathrroom was a good size however the room was a little small or rather crowded with furniture
The hotel is in a prime location. The staff with one exception seemed well prepared and were professional and polite. Clearly the hotel is still not fully operational (our otherwise excellent room still had a light fixture missing) with the kitchen in the upper floor was still not working (our capuccinos were brought up from the bar every morning). Once the renovation is complete this will be a perfect hotel. I would return without a doubt and would recommend this hotel to anyone planning a stay in Siracusa.
Beautiful Location and Delightful Staff Really no fault to pick but if I search for something the hotel could have better towels though they were of course very well laundered.
We stayed for just one night. Location is in front of sea and close to some fine restaurants and bars.
Big well-maintained room and bathroom; hotel modern and generally clean; great sea view from balcony; good quiet location near all sights in Ortigia. Level of support/friendliness from staff was adequate in general but not as good as I would expect when paying this price.
Excellent location, seaview, near the centre, clean room and bathroom, polite staff, value for money.
I was pleasantly surprised at the difference between the modest outside appearance and the comfortably modern inside. I recommend this hotel and the very cheerful staff to all visitors who seek a Sicilian holiday.
Amazing location. Beautiful views and rooms. Nice balcony overlooking the sea. Breakfast was stand out great. Overall really great. .. just poor blinds that let light stream into the room, which woke us up at sunrise
the location and internal decoration and design of the hotel were superb. All the staff were friendly and very helpful.
Location of room with sea view and helpfulness of staff Parking a bit limited, but staff were very helpful about this
This is a very charming hotel with a superbe sea view! It was apleasure waking up in the morning, open my windows and stand steal just looking the sun shinning on the sea. Priceless! Staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is great! Sometimes there is a bad smell coming out from the pipes in the bathroom, but this is not only for this hotel, the hotel city is like that. Just close the door and the problem is solved. A tip to who is going in this city - avoid renting cars because parking places are difficult to find (or very expenive)
The room was compact but split in 2 levels with a little stairs and I liked the idea a lot. The hotel is in front of the sea, close to the city centre. They squeezed oranges on order at breakfast and I never have that fresh breakfast at any hotels!!! To get to the hotel by car might be a bit difficult (many one ways, narrow streets). Highly recommended to use a car navigation.
Beautiful views - great location. Very helpful receptionist and waitress. Pity no bar as weather not great and we would have liked somewhere to relax before going out for dinner. Breakfast could have been more imaginative. Parking can be a bit of a lottery.
Clean rooms. Breakfast was OK. Free parking in the street next to the hotel. Only a short drive from the lovely old center of Siracusa where there is a big cheap parking garage. The hotel is located in one floor of a tall building. Not much atmosphere but professional. Ask for a room which is not next to the busy road, otherwise you hear the traffic.
We were not enchanted by the area of the hotel and it's entrance from the street, but we changed our opinion very quickly after seeing the hotel from inside. The entire hotel area - reception, rooms, restaurant were vely clean and nicely furnished, with all facilities. The personel was very friendly and helpful and gave us good tips about the city. We also appreciated the location after visiting the city - it is very close to Ortigia and to the archaeological park and at the same time in a very calm area.
Conveniently situated not far from the old town and very close to archeological sites. You can park your car across the street for no charge. Free wireless internet in the rooms. International TV channels.
The location was perfect. We parked the car when we arrived and walked everywhere. Hotel staff helped us get tickets to a performance at the Greek theater.
The room was clean and functional. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is slightly away from the town centre.
Staff and family ownership very nice and helpful. Confortable and very clean. Brand new. Excellent!
It is located in central place, the service was excellent, it is a place that we always want to come again.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpfull, their was a nice laid back atmosphere.
Close to all the museums. Street parking available. Very nice rooms clean and quiet. Laura at the front desk put together a map of the sites including restaurants. A wonderful stay in the city.
Very helpful staff at reception Breakfast could be a lot better. Hotel hard to find because no frontage on street.
This is a well located extremely clean Hotel. No
Good taste in every detail in this nice hotel, the Ortigia island is the best location in Siracusa. Free rides around the island in excellent bikes provided by the hotel are a must. The breakfast is very good. It does not have free wifi in the rooms. Parking depends on availability of spaces at the square in front of the hotel.
Excellent situation, beautiful terrace on the roof, interesting house and friendly and helpful employees. Very plesant stay.
All staff were extreamly helpful nothing was too much trouble.
rooms were tasteful, comfortable, spacious and extremely clean; fantastic beds; spa facilities were also very welcome
Excellent location near to the town centre restaraunts and bars. Very friendly staff, excellent rooms and facilities including a garden swimming pool.
The hotel was excellent and very well located. The room was clean and spacious and the staff was very helpful. I would love the opportunity to stay there again. The only problem is if you are driving then parking is a bit of a problem. They have two car parking spots for the hotel right outside and if you are lucky you can park there otherwise you will have to park in the public car park which is a few minutes walk.
Very convenient location, good value for the money. Unfortunately we did not stay long enough to explore the spa offerings.
A very competent hotel in all respects, well thought out, well managed. Its location is superb for anyone wanting to enjoy the old city of Siracusa, and it is within easy walking distance of shops restaurants etc.
the location (in the heart of Ortigia and almost in front of the sea), the comfort of the big room, the facilities, the excellent breakfast
Good position and comfortable
We got our breakfast whereas we arrived later than 10am. Nice people at the hotel. Parking in the hotel.
Very hard to find the hotel in the dark. The streets of the city are very confusing.
The breakfast was poor and they promised to make toster which they did not provide even the next day.
The building is old and horrible in a very periferic area of the city. The breakfast was terrifying.
Rooms were recently refurbished, bathrooms in particular were new and very pleasant. Breakfast, though plentiful, was not of high quality. The location was some distance from the centre.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean with all amenities more than adequate. It's location to the Archeaological sites and "Ortigia is convenient.
a bit of a way out of town
We were very satisfied. The room was simple, but clear, personal very complaisant, price favourable. I can recommend for tourists with car, becouse of 5 km from the old town. Excelent location for exit to Catania Airport (1 hour).
Lots of parking. Easy to find. Room was a bit ran down. Could use a make-over. Still acceptable though. Just not luxurious.
The rooms were large and the hotel's location was in a quiet, relaxing spot. The hotel was not up to the standard of a 5 star hotel - its restaurant was only open for certain hours (very late opening for dinner), there was no room service menu, no porter, and no conveniences expected of a luxury hotel.
Luxurious hotel offering every comfort. Staff very efficient and friendly. Excellent spa facilities.
Pretty much everything. The rooms are beautiful, and so is the view over the horse racing track and beyond. The buffet is very good, and the spa is spotless and extremely relaxing :) The hotel's located somewhat in the middle of nowhere. Don't stay here if you don't have a car, or are willing to pay a lot of money on taxi's to take you places.
Beautiful Hotel, swimming pool and spa area fantastic and included in price. Good choice for breakfast. The bar was closed and you could only get a drink from the restaurant which closed at 22.30. Location is in the country, beside a racecourse, so a car is essential if staying here.
Very good hotel, with a very good restaurant (fantastic breakfasts and dinners),
Convenient location for tourist activities Very inconvenient location for noise. Street noise continued to 2 a.m. and ruined our sleep. We checked out after 1 of our 3 nights
Bedroom and bathroom both spacious, very clean and looked as if recently refurbished. Only criticism is that we were iven room on top (4th) floor which had small balcony but also very high stone parapet so no view unless you stodd on ledge at base of parapet. Staff generally efficient and helpful except for one receptionist who, although she tried to be helpful, knew nothing and was not very bright either.
Ana, one of the staff members at reception was amazing, very helpful, good knowledge. rooms are quite basic for 4 star hotel
Perfect location The noise from the street ( bad windows)
The location - right in the middle of Ortigia, the old part of the city. We enjoyed the modern decoration of our room, and the beautiful bathroom. A very pleasant and comfortable place to stay. The breakfast was disappointing.
Hotel staff excellent and veer helpful in relation to parking
Great location on the island. Friendly and accomodating multi-lingual staff.
Good location in the center of Siracusa. Free internet in the lobby. Nice view over the square. Very much noise from the square - would be very nice if the management made the rooms soundproof or at least that the windows facing the square were soundproofed as restaurants in the square were open until well past midnight.
The location is great. It's in the middle of everything, and I was quite relieved we ended up staying in Ortigia and not Siracusa, because it's far prettier. The rooms were a little dark as far as natural lighting goes, and it could have been cleaner, so I didn't think the price was well deserved or the 4-star rating. But it served it's purpose. The hotel reception was quite helpful.
Frist i will start by saying the staff are excellent but after that it is all down hill.It was the most costly hotel we stayed in Sicily for the week. The bathroom was dirty and the shower was so small, a big man would not fit into it.The shower head was half working it was that old.The manger agree with all i said, so i hope they will do something about it as the city was beautiful and I advise anybody to go and see it. I would not stay at hotel Roma again.
Helpful and friendly staff (many from the owners' family). Very new structure and facilities, with deep attention to design (impressive and enjoyable swimming pool) and at the same time integration with the local nature (garden is also beautiful). Breakfast also gives you a feel of local things (self-made orange juice, fresh fruits, "cherry" tomeatoes, ...). Location in the countryside is also enjoyable, just a short distance out of the city as well as from the nice beaches area (but if you don't have a car you are cut out). Only very minor issues.Wi-fi internet in every room is rather slow; ethernet plug is available to improve a bit. Opening the windows let get in flies (daytime) or mosquitoes (evening). Very likely some small flaws will be fixed soon by a very attentive team.
The hotel is simply fantastic
The attention to detail in design and service. The staff were so friendly and helpful and went out of their way to help us when our car had to be taken to the mechanics. The ambience of the hotel is great and will only get better as it's newly planted grounds mature.
Appears well maintained and the facility has a good layout. Breakfast is good with even some fruit from their own garden. Great outdoor pool. Very peaceful / tranquil surrounds. Staff seemed ok, but not helpful to international standards; Roads between hotel and Syracuse were quite bumpy and prone to flooding; No shuttle service to / from town. No dinner restaurant on site (snacks / light lunch available). No tea/coffee/kettle in room. Junior Suite incidentally is just a room / bathroom so not really what was expected.
Splendid hotel. Well located near Syracusa. Very nice staff. Excellent breakfast. Superb swimming pool. Only minus is the lack of a restaurant. Rent car is necessary.
