Location Nothing like a 5 star hotel at best an average 4 star
The beautiful view over the bay Very late service by chambermaid to make-up the room
lose to centre , fantastic view ,
Location is great - you turn the corner uphill and beautiful piazza and great dining options are steps away. This hotel isn't deserving of it's five star status. Yes, it has great bones and it has a wonderful location but it needs updating - while renovations can be costly - takes basic maintenance and pride for 5 stars to have clean walls in the room and Clorox for the mildew in the bathroom. Staff was nice but poorly trained.
Excellent location and quiet - the first hotel in Sicily to achieve this. Plenty of bars, cafes, restaurants nearby. Bit of a trek to breakfast from our room but well worth it - both for the buffet and the outstanding views while enjoying it.
Excellent 5 star hotel - one of the best hotels of our Sicily trip. Junior suites are spacious and finished to a very high standard. Cleaning comes twice a day and small details/gestures (fresh cakes and fruits in the room, ...) make this hotel a true gem. Breakfast is very good with something for everyone (not just the sweets that make up a local breakfast) and it is served on a gorgeous rooftop resaturant/terrace. As a city, Siracusa is very pleasant and worth a long stay. I found it more interesting and less crowded than Taormina and also more affordable.
friendly staff and spoke good English which i expect from a 5star. i was dissappointed that when i requested a room with a bath and told it might be possible that it never happened and nobody spoke to me about it again.i also hoped after expressing dissappointment with the lift out of use that it might be possible to move to another part of the hotel where lift worked. i had a small child aged 3 and i felt we were not fully understood and having to take a service lift was no fun.overall it was a good experience. we hope to visit scilly next october again.
The central location in the old town The balcony with seaview
outstanding location on the sea and view. Rooftop restaurant. Spa. no parking and using the street is almost impossible. The Hotel is immense and was very empty and dull; personnel was demotivated (end of season); building needs anyhow renovation. The room was about OK, but the bathroom was far below standards (no tub, old fashioned, leaks everywhere,etc...). However, low season rate is, in globo, competitive. In summary:nicely decadent.
location of hotel is excellent.Staff very helpful and frienly.Lounge bar could do with upgrade, very stuffy. Rooftop bar. Only had one drink. No buzz or atmosphere.
Great location. The island is great! The parking is terrible. There is no shuttle as indicated. It is at least a mile walk. Once you find the parking lot there are spaces that are for handicapped but are very poorly marked. Unfortunatdly we parked in one of them and received a parking ticket. Including this cost and the hotel cost made the cost of the hotel very expensive. The procing at this hotel is a bit of a bait and switch. At check in the staff tries to talk the traveller into an upgrade. And for good reason. The standard room is more like a jail cell than a hotel room. So we upgraded for 20 more euros. Alse the elevators are scarey. Very noisy and unstable. My wife used the stairs instead.
Beautiful views - great location. Very helpful receptionist and waitress. Pity no bar as weather not great and we would have liked somewhere to relax before going out for dinner. Breakfast could have been more imaginative. Parking can be a bit of a lottery.
Excellent location, seaview, near the centre, clean room and bathroom, polite staff, value for money.
Beautiful Location and Delightful Staff Really no fault to pick but if I search for something the hotel could have better towels though they were of course very well laundered.
This is a very charming hotel with a superbe sea view! It was apleasure waking up in the morning, open my windows and stand steal just looking the sun shinning on the sea. Priceless! Staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is great! Sometimes there is a bad smell coming out from the pipes in the bathroom, but this is not only for this hotel, the hotel city is like that. Just close the door and the problem is solved. A tip to who is going in this city - avoid renting cars because parking places are difficult to find (or very expenive)
Location of room with sea view and helpfulness of staff Parking a bit limited, but staff were very helpful about this
Amazing location. Beautiful views and rooms. Nice balcony overlooking the sea. Breakfast was stand out great. Overall really great. .. just poor blinds that let light stream into the room, which woke us up at sunrise
the location and internal decoration and design of the hotel were superb. All the staff were friendly and very helpful.
I was pleasantly surprised at the difference between the modest outside appearance and the comfortably modern inside. I recommend this hotel and the very cheerful staff to all visitors who seek a Sicilian holiday.
Big well-maintained room and bathroom; hotel modern and generally clean; great sea view from balcony; good quiet location near all sights in Ortigia. Level of support/friendliness from staff was adequate in general but not as good as I would expect when paying this price.
We stayed for just one night. Location is in front of sea and close to some fine restaurants and bars.
The room was compact but split in 2 levels with a little stairs and I liked the idea a lot. The hotel is in front of the sea, close to the city centre. They squeezed oranges on order at breakfast and I never have that fresh breakfast at any hotels!!! To get to the hotel by car might be a bit difficult (many one ways, narrow streets). Highly recommended to use a car navigation.
Bedroom and bathroom both spacious, very clean and looked as if recently refurbished. Only criticism is that we were iven room on top (4th) floor which had small balcony but also very high stone parapet so no view unless you stodd on ledge at base of parapet. Staff generally efficient and helpful except for one receptionist who, although she tried to be helpful, knew nothing and was not very bright either.
Perfect location The noise from the street ( bad windows)
Great location on the island. Friendly and accomodating multi-lingual staff.
Frist i will start by saying the staff are excellent but after that it is all down hill.It was the most costly hotel we stayed in Sicily for the week. The bathroom was dirty and the shower was so small, a big man would not fit into it.The shower head was half working it was that old.The manger agree with all i said, so i hope they will do something about it as the city was beautiful and I advise anybody to go and see it. I would not stay at hotel Roma again.
The location - right in the middle of Ortigia, the old part of the city. We enjoyed the modern decoration of our room, and the beautiful bathroom. A very pleasant and comfortable place to stay. The breakfast was disappointing.
Hotel staff excellent and veer helpful in relation to parking
Convenient location for tourist activities Very inconvenient location for noise. Street noise continued to 2 a.m. and ruined our sleep. We checked out after 1 of our 3 nights
Good location in the center of Siracusa. Free internet in the lobby. Nice view over the square. Very much noise from the square - would be very nice if the management made the rooms soundproof or at least that the windows facing the square were soundproofed as restaurants in the square were open until well past midnight.
Ana, one of the staff members at reception was amazing, very helpful, good knowledge. rooms are quite basic for 4 star hotel
The location is great. It's in the middle of everything, and I was quite relieved we ended up staying in Ortigia and not Siracusa, because it's far prettier. The rooms were a little dark as far as natural lighting goes, and it could have been cleaner, so I didn't think the price was well deserved or the 4-star rating. But it served it's purpose. The hotel reception was quite helpful.
desk manager was extremely helpful;great location, good breakfast, free internet small shower up some stairs
Eevn though it was quite difficult to find the Palazzo (because of the local traffic regulations and because 3 policemen gave us 3 different explanations of how their system worked) this is a real beauty ! It is a historic palazzo rebuilt as B&B, only since 2 years now. We had an enormous bedroom, with a comfortable bathroom and even a private balcony with armchairs. Ideal to spend hot siesta-hours ! Not to forget the excellent breakfast buffet and the friendly and helpful staff !
This was a lovely old building at the tip of Ortygia with 6 guest rooms. The building was only a street away from the waterfront and the fountain. Our room was very comfortable and large and has air conditioning. We used the air conditioning at night because the city noise is definitely there. On the other hand we felt we were staying in a real neighborhood. The staff was very friendly and helpful (Giovanni) and the breakfast was just great. Recommendations for dining were right on target. We liked everything. If you book, you should take into account that there are stairs involved.
Syracuse is one of the most beautiful cities of the world, and the hotel is located at the best spot of the island. We had the fantastic room Numer 7 with a nice terrace. The room was fantastic. It is a generous and family-like hospitality where guests can serve themselves with coffe, tea and fruits the whole day. The breakfast was very nice. The man at the reception could recommand us the best places to visit and to eat.
The charm of this hotel surpasses any other impression. This B&B is perfect for the traveller looking for comfort, uniqueness, charm, intimacy and a superb location on the Ortigia island. The very friendly staff rounds it off. Each room has its unique features and breathes authenticity, thanks to the very succesfull renovation of this former palazzo.
Nice big room, helpful reception. Good choice at breakfast, modern and clean decor Its a little difficult to get to. We arrived at the main bus station in town, and as limited transport is allowed on the island, you need to get a free shuttle bus onto Ortigia island- being non-italian speakers this proved a bit of a challenge, but we made it ok.
The rooms are beautiful, a really unique experience. The location is brilliant for wandering around the island. The breakfust buffet is delicious. I have nothing bad to say about this hotel - quite the opposite. Well worth a stay here.
The building is a beautiful and tasteful blend of modern interior design and traditional charm. The lounge/breakfast room is a great bonus, giving you somewhere to chill out without being restricted to your bedroom; you can help yourself to a hot drink, browse the internet (free) and relax on the huge white sofas. The location is fantastic, close to a range of restaurants, bars and local sights. My bedroom was spacious, bright, clean and again very tastefully decorated. Service throughout the stay was first class. The breakfasts were fit for a king with a massive range of cereals, fruit, bread, pastries, cakes, meat and cheeses on offer. I would defintately stay again.
very noisy in front rooms, breakfast very average, bathrooms tiny, ensure you ask for a room with a balcony, otherwise they are like a prison cell
The hotel has a lot of character and is centrally located. The bathroom was fashionable but the flush of the toilet did not work properly.
Very warm welcome from the owner - Very clean and simple rooms - Extremely well located in Syracusa !!!! - Really easy to find with a map - Good breakfast - Feeling at home ! Thank you very much Massimiliano !
Excellent location, very hospitable B&B owners Massimiliano and Cristina.
We found the owners very friendly and helpful. Our room was very quiet, spacious and comfortable with a small balcony. We loved the breakfasts, especially the homemade cake every morning! The location is excellent.
Personal approach from the owner The room was a bit cold but I guess it's due to winter season
Very central in Ortigia. The rooms were comfortable with good big beds, fridge, television with english-language stations and air conditioning. The owner was very hepful when we needed to hire a car and about our day trips. We found we could use Sleep in Sicily as a good base.
Excellent location on Ortygia island, the early check-in time proved extremely handy. The proprietors cooked us a lovely cake for breakfast in the morning!
Very nice B&B with loads of character in it. Room was very spacious and decorated in a rustic style. B@B located at arm stretch from the sea on one side and Duomo from another. Fresh breakfast was served at the patio just outside the room. Very nice and friendly hosts. Would definitely recommend.
very friendly and helpful staff, clean room, good breakfast and central location
The location, in Ortygia, is excellent. It's very difficult to get to the hotel with a car, and the parking is a good distance away.
The owners of Sleep in Sicily are really nice, they can give you a good advise of what to do and what to see, as well as where to eat. The room was nice and clean. We had a nice time here.
The location, looking out onto the cathedral square in Ortygia, is exceptional, right in the historic center. The B and B is charmingly decorated and feels like a home. Hotle employee were so welcoming and helpful. Wonderful place to stay. During Holy Week, Ortygia is a very busy place and quite crowded. Not really a problem for us, but not a quiet place to go for Easter. It is very popular.
