Pros: We were warmly welcomed by Simone upon arrival and she did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable. The room was small but comfortable and the bathroom, again small, but very functional. For £58 (Gite status) this accommodation reporesented good value for money. Breakfast was very pleasant and attractively presented and we enjoyed our experience enormously ! Merci beaucoup Simone !
Cons: Nothing at all !
Pros: Simone, the excellent bed, bathroom and the cleanliness of the room.
Pros: Great B & B. Very Close to the A28, a great stop over if you are on a traveling south. The room was spotlessly clean and the breakfast was very good.
Cons: Nothing. Prefect stop over for us
Pros: We stayed in the family room as it was the only one available when we booked but it was wonderful to have the extra room and it is beautifully decorated. Everything about the property is lovely and we look forwards to returning in the future.
Cons: There is nothing that can be improved upon.
Pros: Breakfast nice
Cons: Bit isolated.. No restaurants within walking distance.
Pros: Lovely house, very clean and comfortable. The host was charming.
Pros: Everything was really good
Cons: Had to wait for owner to turn up
Pros: We stayed here for 1 night at the end of our holiday in the Dordogne on the way to the Tunnel. Room was small and the bathroom even smaller, but it was clean and tidy and fine for just one night. Lovely views whilst having breakfast.
Cons: Bathroom too small for comfort.
Pros: Very nice although the room was quite small and the facilities (kettle) were very low, but as we only stayed for one night it was excellent.
Cons: Nothing really, everything was excellent, except the kettle being almost on the floor.
Pros: Good walk-in shower suitable for our reduced-mobility son. Good breakfast served in pleasant dining room. Coffee/tea making facilities. Nice double bed.
Cons: The third adult had a fold-up bed, but he didn’t complain! We had a first floor room with rather tight staircase - not the best arrangement for our son. Couldn’t use a wheelchair on uphill stony path to front door. Son managed it on foot.
When you stay at this cottage in Tanville, you'll be 15 minutes by car from Sees Cathedral. Free self parking is available onsite.
Cons: Nothing, it was all we expected and required.
Pros: Although we wish that we could have stayed longer, instead of just a short stop at the end of our vacation, La Verrier du Gast was the perfect place to rest. Our hosts, Valérie and Pascal, were also extremely helpful. We arrived late due to a long day at Puy du Fou and we’re hungry (at almost 10pm), but they managed to get us a reservation at a lovely, local restaurant. The house is beautifully decorated, too. The beds were so comfortable that my son declared that it was like sleeping in his own bed. And breakfast the next morning was the best of our vacation, with a stunning array of homemade preserves and flan, local cheese and more. And one of the best things was being greeted by the three sweet dogs on the property. All of us enjoyed their company! This was a perfect stay and we hope to be back next year. Do not miss a chance to visit La Verrier du Gast!
Pros: amazing location and facilities, amazing people, the true meaning of hospitality. Would highly recommend it to my closest friends.
Pros: Very nice and friendly english speaking host, beautiful location, superb breakfast.
Cons: Nothing to dislike, perhaps little more coffee, tea and milk in room but this is nit picking.
Pros: Valerie was so welcoming. We had a lovely room with a super shower ensuite. The breakfast was incredible - so much thought had gone into it. Everything homemade and eggs from their hens - in fact the best breakfast of our whole stay in France.
Pros: We stayed for one night on the way to Bourgueil and were so impressed with the beautiful house, lovely rooms and fabulous breakfast. Our hostess was welcoming and friendly, and chatted to us over breakfast about the interesting history of the house. I would highly recommend a stay here, sitting looking out over the gorgeous surroundings made for a lovely and tranquil experience.
Pros: Just fantastic location, remote but the sat nav took us straight there. House superb, Valerie lovely and speaks fluent English. Breakfast delicious and varied, all home cooked. Couldn’t recommend this place highly enough!
Cons: Closer to Cherbourg so we could have enjoyed it longer.
Pros: Good welcome. Clean and tidy room.
Pros: A stunning tranquil location with beautiful rooms. Hostess absolutely lovely. A tremendous breakfast freshly made from homegrown/local produce. Our second visit and we would definitely return if/when we're in the area.
Pros: Breakfast was great
Pros: Quiet, quirky and comfortable
Cons: Not the easiest to find on sat nav but simple with a map!
Pros: Made very welcomed by our host, the accommodation was ideal for our family of three adults and two children and the continental breakfast was just right for our early start to catch the ferry
Pros: The rooms are truly stunning and unique - beautiful art on the walls, incredibly keen and very quirky places to sleep that the kids loved. The breakfast was delicious and home-made with lovely fresh crepes, bread and croissants. The owners were very friendly and helpful too.
Pros: Spacious accommodation for a family of 5 & hosts made us very welcome
Pros: This is a quirky little rustic place to stay. We used it for an overnight stop. Call ahead and they will cook for you. We have the family suite. I thought it would be a big room. It’s your own 3 story house. Wooden beams and cosy sofas the lot. It’s an amazing place. Properly French.
Pros: We stopped over for one night only on our way further South, the apartment was perfect for our family, bunk beds downstairs, kitchen and living area on the first floor and a really comfortable king size double upstairs on the mezzanine with a smaller single bed and cot for our youngest. Everything was clean and comfortable, we were able to make a simple supper for the children and Corinne then served us a delicious three course meal once the kids were in bed complete with sparkling pear cider and a lovely bottle of wine. She then brought us a breakfast “panniere” in the morning with pastries, coffee, juice, delicious bread, honey, yoghurt, jam etc etc. All this in a lovely rural location but not far from the main route south. Unfortunately we didn’t get chance to explore the gardens as it was raining!
Pros: The owners were lovely. We arrived late and they helped us park our car and settled us in quickly as we had two small tired children. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic, our little ones wolfed down th pancakes and coissant, and I enjoyed the coffee.
Pros: Quiet rural location Lovely hosts Quirky decor Excellent evening meal and breakfast
Pros: Space and rural nature of accommodation and genuine friendliness of the hosts.

Pros: We were welcomed by the owners and made to feel at home straight away. Such a lovely quirky place next to the river. Very comfortable and lovely organic food. We would definitely go back.
Cons: The sign for the house is not the same as advertised! It’s actually called La Cage aux Oiseaux which is a bit confusing when looking for it!
When you stay at Chambres d'Hôtes la Baudrière in Livaie, you'll be 11 minutes by car from Carrouges Chateau. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Great hosts, lovely location. Best nights sleep in years. All round great french experience.
Cons: The place is very dated and in need of updating, Bathroom very cramped. Not at all what we were expecting.
Pros: The gite was set in beautiful grounds and absolutely charming. The hosts were delightful and used google translate when we got stuck with our attempts to use O level French!
Cons: Variable WiFi which didn’t bother my husband or myself although the teenagers wished for more.
Pros: The food was great. The location was slightly hard to find as there is a house with the same name about 100 meters away. One night is simply not enough.
Cons: I was not expected despite the booking.com confirmation. This was not a problem for them at all and I was made welcome, but it meant that the bill was higher than expected as it is unclear that the 25% taken from the credit card was accounted for. This is less about the place and more about the booking system.
Pros: THERE IS NOTHING GOOD ABOUT THE PLACE
Cons: Ant infested bathroom and the floor in the bedroom We went down for breakfast at 8am no one was there no sign of anyone we tried to leave and the key had been removed from the door and we could not get out we shouted for assistance no one came we finally found the key and left. BEWARE A very misleading description of the place.
Pros: Friendly owners.
Cons: Toilet difficult for a man to use, had to hold seat up when using, also impossible to stand directly in front of urinal, sloping roof meant you had to squat down and turn body 30 deg to left. Sliding partition door difficult to slide shut and then would jamb when trying to open.
Pros: Rooms are slightly kitsch but big and with a restroom and a decent bathroom. The view and surrounding are amazing. The breakfest on the terrace is very enjoyable even if the breakfest itself is quite small in choices. The hosts are very friendly.
Cons: The living of the owners is below the rooms and you need to go through to go in/out. When they watch their telly, you hear it from the rooms but they told us we could ask them to lower the volume if needed (at the end it wasn't).
When you stay at Haras De La Croix D'argent in Saint-Sauveur-de-Carrouges, you'll be 7 minutes by car from Carrouges Chateau. Featured amenities include multilingual staff and refrigerator in a common area. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Nice room for an overnight stay. We stayed just one night to break up the journey so we just needed a bed and a good breakfast. Tricky to find but it was dark. In a nice quite location. Room was good enough. single bed is very small and for a 3 person room only 2 chairs at the table. The breakfast was just bread and Jam, was kind of looking forward to nice traditional croissants.
Cons: Breakfast wasnt very exciting. My son only just fitted in the single bed.
Pros: Very peaceful and quiet country location.
Cons: Need more hanging space and a window with a view. Breakfast was very simple.
