The hotel room is newly renovated. It located very close to the Train Station (within 10 minutes walk) and the shopping centre (within 3 minutes walk) of Tours.
The hotel is right in the centre of Tours so very convenient for sight-seeing, restaurants and shopping. It is also close to the train and bus stations. It was clean and comfortable. Parking is very limited - there is a public carpark nearby but it was very full and we were lucky to get a space. The room we had was comfortable but being at the top of the hotel, it was dark with only one small window - a draw back on a sunny day.
The location was just where we needed to be. The front desk was very professional and helpful.
Location is fantastic, and the hotel staff friendly and helpful
Very easy to find - great location. Very nice staff.
Great staff. Great location. Seems to be run down and needs a face-lift internally.
Centrally located and very pleasant surroundings
Style of the hotel especially the bedroom. The availabilty of the garage eas a bonusu No
Superb staff - some of the friendliest I´ve encountered. Breakfast finished at 10; restaurant closed on sundays (!)
Staff - very friendly and helpful
Location is central: close to the railway station, but far enough not to hear and see those people grouping near the station. Also very close to tourist office, old town and Hotel de Ville (just in front). The room was great - spacious, with a comfortable sofa in front of tv, a desk, enough room to even have a morning gymnastics)). It was very quiet which is definitely a plus! Beautiful lobby. The price af breakfast 18 euros is too high.
Within walking distance of old town centre (10-15 minutes). The room was small and in need of repainting, the carpets old and smelly. It is generally in need of refurbishing from the ground up. Not cheap as breakfast is extra at 8,50€ per head.
Only 5 to 7 minutes walks to the old part of Tours.
The location. You can walk to the city centre from the hotel. Very handy for visiting. We had booked a doiuble bed and ask for a double bed rather than twin beds. We got twin beds pushed beside each other, at every move, they were moving. Not very comfortable. The price for car park - 7 euro - Thankfully you can park for free in the area.
It has a garage and it has wifi (but ... read on) The location is way too far from the cute city center. The hotel has wifi, but to get a password you need to register with your e-mail address and then check your mail before you get access (duh!). The girl at the desk didn't really seem to see the problem, but eventually just gave me a password.
The secure garage and the helpful receptionist. Only that on the night we were there the restaurant was closed for a function.
Convenient to locate; secure parking; lift to all floors Further from the most interesting (touristique) parts of Tours than we had realised; lift does not descend to basement car-park
Good value for money. Good location for city centre. Good parking facilities. Rather tired decor
Excellent safe parking Very basic
good location, fair cost
Just about everything, but in particular the friendly and helpful staff, the character of the hotel and its location. One thing: although our room was pleasant, comfortable and had a lovely view, the location of the toilet in a 'cupboard' right next to the bed (rather than in the bathroom, as is usual) was not really acceptable.
Well located, beautiful view of the whole town and of the cathedral from our bedroom window.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpfull. Checking in and out was simplicity itself. Staff were very knowledgable about places of interest and restaurants etc. Breakfast charges were quite high per person when a local cafe/bar could provide the same for a quarter of the price.
The location, comfort, cost and assistance offered by staff
friendly and helpful staff. information readily given.
it was close to main shoping area and the old town, staff were helpful, but we still had a language problem. our room was on the small size, we expected larger as we were staying 4 nights. it is a small hotel, as a result there was very little guest activity, also it is a nice walk from the railway station.
Staff were very welcoming, the hotel was ideally located and very comfortable Parking was not easy at the moment as building works are taking place especially as a charge of 10 euros was made, also the breakfast was fairly ordinary
Difficult to find for tourists not familiar with the city.
convenience and location bathrooms could be a little fresher
Good location and helpful staff The dining / breakfast room has seen [much] better days. Go out for breakfast and find a nice boulangerie /cafe.
The location and friendly, helpful nature of the staff. Not a thing.
Free upgrade to a superior room (very large and spacious!)! We assumed that since we booked through Booking.com that we would get one of the few rooms that have not been re-done - but when we checked in, the courteous staff informed us that we had been upgraded to a superior room - which turned out to be the largest room in the hotel - quite nice! For 77,20 euros, we stayed in an excellent room, with a booking that included the 12 euros per person breakfast - excellent! Slight difficulty parking...the hotel is in the same square as the train station, and being a busy city, the parking for the station was full. We ended up parking in another structure about a 8 minute walk from the hotel - same price as advertised though (8 euros for 24 hours).
The central location of the hotel
Nice hotel, convienient location city centre parking, TGV station, good food, nice staff - Internet WiFi did not work, (we were working, so important) otherwise excelent The WiFi, should have worked - they could fix that. Otherwise it was the best.
I felt the whole experience was positive and the staff pleasantly unobstrusive . Dearth of english language tv.
the staff were very helpful in all respects. a bigger business centre and a gym would have been nice!
The wifi connection was very poor for the price paid
Had an excellent stay; friendly staff; excellent breakfast No canal plus
Very central location, being only meters from the train station. No
Its location very close to the center of the old city Air conditioner did not work well. In summer it is O.K. but in winter I am afraid.....
it's the best two-star hotel I have stayed in in France
I liked the beautifull interior of the breakfast room. It was terribly noisy at night outside of the hotel. We couldn't sleep at all!
Good location and stylish decor. Rooms and corridoors noisy. You can hear other people using toilet/shower. Impersonal, small and poky.
Ideally located. The manager who moved us to rear of hotel after complaining about noise in front room. The situation of the front room initially given to us. We had to be moved to rear of hotel because of noise from bar/cafe strip below hotel which made it impossible to sleep
Location, location, location no
I found it very comfortable and welcoming. Beautifully appointed room and the hotel felt very 'French' to me. I have already recommended it to friends in Bordeaux! Thank you!
Central, very convenient, nice atmosphere. Side street room noisy at night
The location is excellent, parking at 7 Eur/day is nerby
Position in Tours excellent, Very helpful staff, Very clean and well presented throughout.
Beautiful Hotel, close to the city center, Friendly staff, loved the coffee machine they had really good coffee and it was a great price.
Excellent location within walking distance to old town, shopping, rue colbert (restaurants).
The location, comfort (clean and ventilated as we asked) and price. Nothing.
Hotel Moderne is a conveniently located, budget hotel in the center of Tours close to the railroad station, the tourist office, and many different restaurants. It is an older hotel with a certain charm. There is good cable TV with French and international channels. The staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are small, but adequate. Bathroom facilities are somewhat cramped, but the shower space was adequate, and the water pressure good. There is no elevator in the hotel. The WI-FI was not used.
The location was ideal. The staff were friendly and the price was right. Tours is a lovely city for walking and the hotel was in a perfect location for "new town" shopping and "old town" dining. Parking was convenient and easy. Breakfast offering could have had at least one protien choice such as yogurt.
The friendly atmosphere and location for transport and sightseeing. It is also quiet throughout the night.
Friendly staff. The hotel has a cat. Cosy feel. Lacks an elevator, bad idea if you're travelling with lots of luggage. The water heaters are turned off at night, forget about showers before sleeping. Not enough electric outlets. Bad internet connection which frequently disconnects. No "do not disturb" signs. On the last day, I was forced to check-out at 8 am in the morning for some reason.
The hotel is perfectly situated between the cathedral and the old town of Tours. It has recently be renovated and satisfies all the needs of a 3* hotel, it is really worthed more stars. The perfect place to stay and staff was very helpfull.
It was very clean, well designed, comfortable and the staff were very welcoming. We were surprised to see it has just one star, but the fact it has no lift may account for that.
The rooms where spacious, modern and immaculate. A short walk to a huge host of restaurants and attractions.
Great location, great decor and lovely bed. Better than pretty well every 2 star hotel we stayed in during our 2 week trip. Should definitely be more than one star. ... no lift, but no big deal.
The location, the room and first of all the kindness of the managers everything was very good
stayed in the larger room. new, clean. good value and worth the few dollars more for the bigger room. good breakfast. internet available.
The managers were very friendly and the room exceeded our expectations
This is a very nice small hotel (although it cost the same as the Grand Hotel Poitiers which is in a different class). The man on reception was very helpful although he spoke rather rapidly which made directions rather hard to follow. Tour has an 'interesting' one way system which could cause the driver and map reader to become somewhat stressed.
It was located within easy reach of the old city but close enough to the modern are that walking into each area was quick
The hotel is within walking distance of the train station, a huge plus! On your way you pass the Tourist Bureau for Tours, France, so you can get info before you even get to the hotel. Lovely staff; who were very helpful in booking a first-rate truly fabulous well-known local restaurant for dinner (La Ruche, which means The Beehive). Breakfast was very nice; I recommend that future guests do have the 7.5 euro breakfast. it was really great, no complaints at all.
Very central location in Tours, close to sights and railway station. Good value for money. Comfortable room, reasonably priced breakfast. Room, and especially bathroom were quite small, travellers should be aware that stairs are narrow and steep.
good value, very central bathroom was clean but very tiny. anyone bigger than size 10 will struggle to move there without opening the door ;-))
The owner was extremely friendly and gracious. The location was perfect- so close to the beautiful Musee de Beaux Arts, as well as shopping just a few streets away. Also, an easy walk to the train station.
The double room we booked was supposed to be a Special Offer, however it was a tiny attic room with barely enough space for a bed. We requested a room with more space and had to pay full rate........When I quiried prices I found there had been no special rate.........also the climb up the stairs was very difficult for us
Location rooms and wardrobe space a little to small but cosy
Very cheap, clean, attractive decor, charming and helpful receptionist Room was small
The proprietor was very helpful, giving us information on things to do and restaurants. She was also very helpful in helping us figure out travel arrangements when there was a transport strike on the day of our departure. Our room was simply, but very nicely decorated. It was also very clean and comfortable.
Room was clean and of adequate size Being a single woman just off the plane train, the lack of English was difficult and I probably should have been at a larger hotel where communication was easier.
Nice staff. Excellent decoration and style. Very clean facilities. Location was good. Good value for money. Went to hotel to drop off some bagguge at around 2pm but nobody was there to open the door for us, maybe just an isolated incident. No reception of Wifi in our room, needed to go to the lobby.
This is a very clean hotel and very central in the city. A five minuts walk to the Cathedral and the railway station and for shopping. The staff is absolutely very friendly en helpful. Modern bathroom and newly furnished rooms.
Located in the center of the city, near the riverside you can explore Tours very easily. The hotel has rooms with windows directly to the place de la resistance, which can be very noise during the whole night, especially on saturdays and sondays.
Excellent location and pleasant room The bed was not comfortable and there was intrusive music noise until the very early hours of the morning from a nightclub within the same building complex - to minimise this, ask for a room that faces into the square, although the square can also be noisy too. Ideal for people who sleep heavily or have heavy duty earplugs. The reception desk has limited opening hours which is inconvenient for left luggage and the room servicing times are variable. Don't be deceived, the web-site offers no discount to rack rate.
Room was a good size. The hot water did not always work first time, and there is a disco open until 5am next door ( not Monday's)
Stayed 4 nights at various stages on our trip around the Loire Valley. The hotel is in a great location close to the nightlife, shops and restaurants of Tours. Be warned at weekends there is a nightclub located close by and the music can be heard somewhat in some of the rooms. Avoid Room 15/16 on a friday or saturday night. The girl on reception advised of this when we arrived. She was also very helpful when i explained I had some alergies. Our first room was on the very top floor and is a bit of pain due to no lifts to carry bags upto. The second room we has was Room 9 which has a nice position overlooking the square and its very quaint. We did not have the breakfast so cant commment. I would recommend this hotel to other people Small things No coffee/tea making facilities in the room and for some the music on weekends might be offputting.
The hotel was very clean and in an excellent location. Staff were friendly. The room was nicely decorated. The lack of a lift is a pain. Did not like the absence of tea-making facilities and a waste bin in the room. Towels were thin and small.
Nice, modern, clean rooms.Nice breakfast. No staffed reception on the weekend.
Very good location, free internet in the room
It was very close to the cathedrale and art museum, and within walking distance of the train station. No luggage lift.
No elevator. Not suitable for elder people or with special needs
Hotel is very conveniently located within the city. Close to the main shopping areas, train station and to the old town. Room was very clean and modern. Rooms may be on the small side for some. A greater choice at breakfast would be nice, but overall quality was good.
It was a basic and chep place (for France) near the old town center. Nothing to like or dislike.
Big, clean room with tv and hairdryer. NIce bed. The shower is a bit small.
Good standard & staff very helpful. Parking depends on whether there is space so can be a problem otherwise clean centrally based and would use again Trying to find it with the sat nav.....
Good location; close to major attractions in Tours. Internet service only works in lobby.
Location excellent, staff friendly, early check-in available, lovely old building but very modern bathroom! It's a little noisy because you are in a city in the hub of the tourist zone - a small price to pay.
Romantic charming large rustic hotel room, had 2 huge lovely windows looking out onto sweet old rustic building in a quiet little street. Even staircase is original & creaky but charming. Bathroom basic but renovated. Very old world traditional feel & comfortable. Dont bring heavy suitcase as youll be lugging it on old style staircase
good breakfast, helpful owners mould in shower / bathroom, street noise overnight, peeling paint on ceiling, architecturally the room was great but it needed redecoration
heplful & friendly staff. very large comfortable room with large ensuite bathroom/shower/washbasin attached. Also toilet/washbasin ensuite area as well. beds made & linen & cleaning each day. Very good breakfast arrangements, alarm calls when required. basic clean. Hotel could present itself better. Bare, drab uninviting entry area, reception desk badly presented. large bare workroom on right of reception should not be visible. Small lounge room dark, unattractive, not welcoming.Stairs too dark, should have constant lighting. The entrance gave the impression of walking into a garage workshop, not a hotel.
We chose the hotel for location and for rate. Staff was very friendly, but a little more knowledge of English would have helped. Our room was big, we could choose between 3 beds. Hotel needs renovation/refurbishment. Bathtub etc were worn-out (probably from 1960's). Wallpaper in bathroom was starting to come off. Rooms not thoroughly cleaned after previous occupants.
The bed was reall comfortable, the breakfasts were great and the owners were very helpful at all times Initially the staircase and the size of the room were a bit of a worry, and we had trouble finding the hotel
Reception were helpful. Location was very quiet especially as was very central. Could park car under hotel. The bathroom was very small and pretty basic with only plastic sliding door.
