10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic little place! Stayed here with friends for a friend's wedding that was happening close by. Bedrooms were large and spacious and cleaned to a very high standard! The beds were possibly the most comfortable I've ever stayed in too! Breakfast was delicious too and all the little details that can often be over looked in small guest houses were on point! Would absolutely recommend and stay again! Thank you.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had never stayed in a B&B before and this was a great first time. Before arriving we were emailed a list of places to eat nearby which was very helpful. On arrival the owners came out and helped with the bags, then we got offered tea and homemade cake which was lovely. The room was clean and very comfortable and had it's own private garden. We loved the bath robes provided, a very nice touch. Great selection at breakfast and some of the nicest jams I've ever had. Friendly owners. Another thing we liked was the efforts the owners have made to make their business more sustainable. 10/10, we'll be back if we ever venture to Dartmoor again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Barnabas House (stayed in 1st floor room Hound Tor) was the perfect getaway for our family wedding in Calstock. It was really peaceful (even though it was fully booked we never heard anything from anyone else). Spotlessly clean, bedding and towels smelt really fresh, bed was super comfy! Also great silent running fridge as these things can be really loud. Coming from our hectic London life we really appreciated the change of scenery and liked the traditional but chic decor. Barnabas House felt really calming and a relaxing place to return home to. Angela and Steve were also really friendly and accommodating, even with our late check in due to traffic problems. If we come back to Devon again we'll definitely stay here again! PS Sorry we didn't ever wake up early enough to try the highly rated breakfast!

Pros: Lovely, genuinely rural, location in a particularly beautiful part of the country. Very well maintained. Obliging proprietors.
Cons: Nothing.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very quaint quiet cottage With visits in the morning by the hens
Cons: Mainly the carpet We understand it is a cottage after all so the rooms are small.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The location is lovely near to an old stone bridge. There was also off-road parking.
Cons: Ian and Sarah were friendly and welcoming but I was disappointed with this place. At nearly £100 per night it seems rather overpriced. - The mattress was hard as could be and had old-fashioned coiled metal springs in it so you could feel the nodules through the mattress all night long. It lists on the site that there is a bath AND a shower whereas actually there is only the shower. The bathroom is not a regular ensuite as they state - you have to come out of your bedroom and it’s along the corridor so every time you want to go to the loo or anything you have to go outside and walk along past a shared staircase. The first morning we could not get a single drop of hot water from the wobbly home-made shower and had to have ice cold showers. Not nice in a house where there was no heating and no means to heat the bathroom at all. There wasn’t even an air vent so - when the shower finally did work after complaining on day two - the steam had nowhere to go. The next morning our clothes were really damp. Breakfast is from 8.15am till 8.45am so all 12 guests descended at the same time which meant it took 50 minutes until we actually finished and could leave. And I won’t even go there about the apple juice that was the acidic brown artificial stuff! Worst of all as we lay on our hard double bed was the owners whose own bedroom was the other side of our bedroom wall and headboard and unfortunately all I could hear was the double snoring. Luckily I had some earplugs with me but I thought it was ridiculous to find myself in that situation. All in all I would not recommend this place at all.

Hearty breakfast was served each morning and there is a comfy guest lounge area that we enjoyed. Dartmoor is beautiful and full of lovely surprises and some excellent walking. Don't miss Devil's Cauldron! We also had a very nice meal at Bovey Castle, just down the road.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hosts and very clean with super comfy bedding. Great location in Dartmoor.
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast very good. Location excellent for walking. Hosts were friendly and helpful
Cons: Bathroom should have been cleaner. A lot of dust, and shower door seal not clean

Pros: Great location. Could walk five minutes down the road to a nice pub for a meal. Room was clean and cosy! (Yes, the rooms are small but it's a cottage!) Owners were very friendly and helpful. Definitely one to visit again.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfasts were fantastic. The room was very clean and homely and was cleaned daily. The landlord, landlady and staff were most engaging making me feel really welcome. Dinners were delicious and with plenty of variety and the real ales were just sensational. I just thoroughly enjoyed myself whilst staying here.
Cons: Car parking on the actual property's site is a bit limited and tight but no real problems were experienced. That might be something to consider for the future.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed very comfortable. Breakfast lovely.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Felt like one of the family, we stayed for two nights and it was like a home from home. Food was amazing and the service was faultless.
Cons: Phone signal but there was something good about that as well, you had to talk to people rather than social media
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very attentive staff, and really comfy beds.

Pros: Incredibly tranquil, superb breakfast, very friendly, highly recommend.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great value, very friendly, fantastic breakfast, good restaurant
Cons: wi-fi was only available in the bar area which was important as there is no mobile reception. Wifi in all areas using boosters would enable use of "whatsapp' etc for contacting friends and family
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The friendliness of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble e.g. the addition of a little table to my room so that the dog didn't drink MY water!

Pros: Quiet room in a pretty location in easy distant to Plymouth
Cons: Nothing
6.8 Good
Pros: Pleasant, spacious location. Well maintained colourful gardens let down by the poor external maintenance of the buildings. Walk in shower.
Cons: Poor breakfast buffet. Very limited. Fresh fruit salad mainly apple and ran out quickly. Not replenished. Cooked breakfast not fresh to order -- batch cooked and left sitting around. Porridge brought at same time as smoked haddock and poached egg. Blamed on inexperienced staff. Bed. Bottom sheet too small / not fitted therefore exposed the mattress during the night. Damp patch on wall in otherwise well decorated bedroom. Dinner disappointing and overpriced. ie Not up to expectations for the location and initial restaurant presentation. Would not use restaurant again. Better pub restaurants locally.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I stayed one night with my son. Had wonderful and relaxing time, also breakfast were amazing. We are satisfied and Def will come back here again!
Cons: Room could have been cleaner
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A lovely, big comfortable room! Nice grounds and surroundings. Would stay again.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Quiet and attractive location with friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: We thought the booking included breakfast and the evening meal. This was not the case
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely grounds and setting for a wedding at which we were guests. Delightful outlook from our room. Staff were all very polite, attentive and eager to please. The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. Wifi was free and the signal was strong and uninterrupted. Jugs of fresh milk for tea making were provided promptly on request. The wedding food was excellent. The hotel was busy and the staff coped with the hectic pace very well. We felt welcome and valued as customers.
Cons: The decor was rather tired in places and the exterior is badly in need of decorating - the shutters were peeling badly. The carpet in our room was worn in patches and there was a bare light bulb in the bathroom. I found the breakfast choices to be adequate but rather mundane. The fruit juices were somewhat weak and watery.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Didn't have breakfast but it looked delicious. Had the evening meal on our 50th anniversary then sat outside with desert and wine watching the sun go down in the beautiful red sky. Prior to that we took a walk on the moor(opposite!!) and delighted in the horses and sheep roaming the grassland.
Cons: Bathroom left us searching for loo roll as holder had been ripped off wall. But it was replaced next day on informing staff.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Liked the lovely garden views from the room, breakfast was plentiful. Nice location to visit as situated at the edge of the moors. Evening meals were to a high standard.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It was quiet and the staff were welcoming. The bed was large and comfortable.
Cons: The rooms are comfortable and there was a good en suite but overall it felt a bit dated and in need of a makeover.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: A large room with all the facilities that we needed
7.5 Good
Pros: The staff at the Burrator Inn are friendly and welcoming; it has good beer (and good coffee), and serves a wide range of mainly straightforward pub food, in very generous portions, at very reasonable prices. The breakfasts were excellent. Overall this stay represented good value for money.
Cons: The facilities in the bedroom were just about adequate, and at the price I perhaps should not expect more; but I would have liked to be able to hang up clothes (there was only a hook on the back of the door), there was no table where I could use my laptop, and there was no light over the bathroom mirror to see to shave. The location is good for visiting Dartmoor, but not so good for Plymouth, because of the traffic jams on the A386.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Although I didn't have a full breakfast, all my food from the Burrator was fantastic
Cons: Cant think of anything
