3 hour delay. Wasn’t notified before arriving at the airport. Mass boarding not by zones.

Pros: "Was given a quick connection paper which helped expedite things. Customs was fairly quick but got some mixed messages from airport staff as to which line(s) to go in. Fairly smooth process and very glad I travel with only a carryon. Getting my bags would have been a real rush. Entertainment available on smartphone, iPad or lap top."
Cons: "It was a tight transfer to get from one flight to another. Had to take a bus from the tarmac and then walk all the way to terminal two to check in with westjet and then back to terminal three to board after going through customs. Had time for a bathroom break and that was it."

While it may sound dramatic, I am certainly not accustomed to a stranger putting their hands on me and it was hugely inappropriate and ruined my flight. This was my first WestJet flight after flying countless times with Air Canada. The whole experience was soured and I will never look at WestJet the same again."

In Toronto the WestJet agent directed us back to the Departure counter which required us to go back through security. There was three gate changes and the flight to Vancouver was late. Pros: "Stairs cause me tremendous pain due to a 4 year misdiagnosed ruptured SI joint. Usually, we have no way of knowing that our flight will end with a downstairs walk rather than a ramp. I emailed American Airlines last week but hadn’t gotten a response yet so when they announced that we would exit by stairs, I was almost in tears as I gathered my belongings. To my surprise, American Airlines had a ramp for us to use. I don’t know it it was a coincidence or if they responded that quickly knowing I was on the plane through todays’s technology. I will be a fan and a customer forever."

The former, refitted United Airlines plane, with no frills, no electric outlets, uncomfortable seats, and the joke that is the "recline" position."

Arrived at DCA at 3 am....not a goo start to a work week."

Cons: "i decided to purchase a separate direct flight at a different time instead of changing my flight, only to be informed later when i tried to hop on the back end of my original flight, that they had canceled my ticket since i hadnt boarded on the front end of that flight. i had spoken to a customer service rep about my option before purchasing the extra ticket, and she did not mention that this would be an issue. then i had to pay extra to get back on my original flight."

Cons: "Would be nice to have more modern aircraft amenities, like power outlets for device charging, and display screens with at least some complimentary entertainment, or at least flight path tracking. Boarding counter lady was obnoxiously strict about not letting our carry-on bags to be carry-on. She made us test them in the size device and said they were too big, even though they could easy be pushed into the space, and regardless of the fact that we just flew on an American Airlines flight with them as carry-on and were only on a layover with them! Regarding the previous AA agent who let them be carry-on, she said "shame on them." Complete opposite of the positive experience we had with her counterpart in Phoenix. ಠ_ಠ"

Cons: "The American Airlines staff assured us that if we got stuck in DC we would receive hotel vouchers. Not only did we not receive hotel vouchers but we were denied access to our rescheduled flight the next day and forced to rent a car to get us from DC to Massachusetts in time for our event. This "misunderstanding" cost us 2 days of our trip and an additional $500 all together. I have never been more disappointed by an airline in all my years of travel! If we'd been told the truth from the beginning we would of rescheduled the flight for the following day from our original destination and saved ourselves 2 headaches and a ton of money."

The flight from Toronto to St. John’s was delayed almost 4 hours because a deicing machine guy thought he saw a blemish on the tail of the plane. After that we went to maintenance, after that our flight crew timed out and we went back to the gate, deplaned and waited. Then we got back on THE SAME PLANE and never arrived until 8pm. We should’ve been there at 3pm and lost almost 1/2 a day of our vacation. I will never take this airline again!!!!!"
Pros: "There seems to have been improvements to the check in and boarding for disabled disabled passengers like myself at Pearson. Much easier to drop off luggage and move quickly to the wheelchair pickup area. Staff were courteous and efficient."

Because I was travelling alone, I was asked if I would move to accommodate someone with a pet carrier that would not fit under the seat they were in. I declined but wondered how they were allowed to board with an oversized case. Also seemed strange to ask a disabled passenger to move."

Cons: "Air Canada is always late in my experience. I always end up waiting at the gate for the inbound flight which happens to be late. It is so annoyingly dishonest, considering that the flight is announced as on-time up until minutes before the departure time. When all along they know the incoming flight is late. After we boarded the plane at origin, we spent 15 minutes at the gate and quite a bit on the runway. When nearing the DCA, the plane took a complete detour went near Baltimore and then Annapolis and then flew back to near Gaithersburg as if it was intentionally wasting time on the air. Upon landing in DCA we had to wait 15 minutes on the taxiway waiting for the gate to clear. The (one hour long) flight that was scheduled to land at 10:20pm landed just before midnight. Air Canada is awful. This happens every time I fly with Air Canada and their conduct is just cheap and dishonest."

There was misinformation and lack of information given by agents and at times no one to help at all. When there's weather it should be all hands on deck until the effected customers get to where they need to be. Otherwise it's an aggravating and nearly intolerable experience. Commercial airlines have been around for 60+ years - figure it out already."

Upon my request of a simple cup Of coffee the flight attendant said, NO, ask if I wanted a coke. It is great that he is giving me an alternative but he can simply appogize that he has not made any coffee and be sincere about it. TERRIBLE service all together. We all in the plane have appointments that now we are late to, crew showed no concern."

Maybe it would help if the steps were communicated on the US bound passengers before disembarking. First the passport process (easy) then there is this confusing process where we need to see our names in green on the screen, with some staff telling us to move on while others insist that we need to stay back and wait for our names to go green on screens that keep changing. Good idea and intentions to help clear bags, and can be improved. Overall the Montreal to DC flight (with the exception of the awful Montreal airport and the long delay) was excellent."

Cons: "I arrived at the airport and attempted to check in at 11:17, 58 minutes before my flight was schedule to depart, having just rushed to the airport from my father's bedside in the hospital. I purchased a ticket on this flight because I absolutely needed to be back in New York City by 2:30 pm today - otherwise, I wouldn't have left. When I attempted to use the kiosk to check in, my booking reference number couldn't be found, despite repeated attempts. When I approached a customer service agent to check in manually, I was simply told that I could not - I was not offered any reason other than that I was "too late" and not offered any alternative. I asked to speak with a supervisor who attempted to clear me for check in seeing as I had no bags to check and have a Global Entry card, but was told by the agent that I spoke with that the flight was over booked and so there were now no longer any seats available. I asked to speak with the supervisor in person, and was told she was on her way, but 15 minutes later she was nowhere to be seen and time was ticking. While the first agent was completely unhelpful, and never offered to rebook me on another flight, another agent helped me by giving me a boarding pass for the next flight and told me she was putting me on standby for the flight I originally purchased the ticket for. I got to the gate in plenty of time to board my original flight, but was told that I wasn't on the standby list and there were simply no seats left on the flight - even though I purchased one which should have been held for me until 10 minutes before departure as is the policy for every other airline as far as I am aware. I am beyond frustrated that due to Air Canada's overbooking the airline used the excuse that I arrived 58 minutes before my flight to give the ticket I purchased away to someone else, with no consideration for me as a customer. The extremely poor customer service I received only added insult to injury. I am completely stumped as to how Air Canada could possibly be the only airline in North America with a 4 star rating when I have consistently experienced overbooking, flight cancellations, and abysmal customer service, including 30 minute wait times to speak to an agent, an inability to check in online for international travel, topped off by poor in flight service, when traveling Air Canada. I have never before complained but am doing so in this case because today's experience truly put me over the top when the airline's blatant disregard for my circumstances and needs as a customer and overbooking practices went beyond causing annoyance and inconvenience. I am therefore requesting a full refund of the ticket I purchased only to be bumped off the flight I paid for."
