Avianca forced to to travel for over 36 hours and continued to have all of my rerouted flights delayed. I will never fly with this airline again."

Cons: "On Feb 26th we had a flight leaving Bogota back to NYC, and at the gate, we found out our flight would not be operated by Avianca, but by a Spanish carrier called WAMOS. Wamos airlines does not offer in-flight entertainment. It offers an app that you can download on your mobile device prior the flight, even though there are no plugs inside the plane and no fully reclining seats. This change is being caused by an ongoing strike action by some of their own pilots and this has been regarded with absolute no consideration from Avianca to its costumers. At the airport we talked to 3 different customer services employees, all giving us different versions of the story and no clear answers. One employee told us that we MAY have a possibility of reimbursement and another one that we could stay in a hotel and catch another flight the next day (which was not an option for us) There was no advance warning about this change to me (not even during check-in) Found out later some passengers gotten an email informing about this change, but not all of them. Staff didn't know anything about this flight. The gate staff only informed passengers of the change, after I complained, and kept insisting that the airplanes were the same, when clearly it was not the same quality, in amenities and service on board. There were big delays and a mess with seat assignments. Many customers traveling together with separated seats and of course, delays in departure caused by the mess that Avianca caused. Just to be clear. what Avianca is doing is stealing the money that we paid for a specific flight, to voluntary change us to a much less inferior flight, with absolutely no consideration and no compensations."

Pros: "This is my second time flying with Avianca, and is being a wonderful experience, the staff is very friendly at the airport and on the plane, flight was confortable, they offer complimentary breakfast or lunch depending what time you are flying , things that the other airlines stop doing years ago, they are also very responsable and honest , I forgot personal documents and my camera on my way going to El Salvador and inmediately they call me to let me know they had them , in general the service is awesome .!! From now on I will always look forward for flying with Avianca."

The alternatives from El Salvador (sal) to the U.S. (iah) with no stops is United Airlines and I had such a bad experience with them. I was a loyal customer for Continental but it ended when United took over. So far Avianca has replaced Continental in my list of airlines that I would consider. And KAYAK was awesome as always......"

The free movies were great. Crew and airport personally exceptional. Way too cramped cabin. Although boarded at 8:20 and had 4 hour flight, offered no breakfast. Only offered one biscuit with high amounts of high fructose corn syrup. Inedible. I'd prefer a 'breakfast bar' or low sugar muffin. All in all a good flight

The plane left on time and entertainment option aboard is great. What I did not like is that being seated in row 3, for four flights, I never got to eat the meal I wanted. It's seems the option always dies in row 2, just after less than half of the passengers flying executive class have ordered they meal. The rest was great and I would fly copa again!"

ATAM Airlines by far the worst experience I ever had flying. Total disaster from beginning to end. Employees were beyond rude. When you call customer service with simple baggage questions they tell you to ask at the airport or check with your agency. Checking the same documents for every connecting flight, instead of doing it at the beginning of your flight and stamp all your boarding passes. Avoid lines and unnecessary contact with others by making long lines to check the same documents they already checked. If I can avoid this airline, I will sure do so and tell others to do the same.

Staff was very friendly and helpful at the counter, airport, and plane. Inconsistent rules: I was allowed to take my water to drink from Cajamarca to Lima but the water I bought for Lima to LAX was confiscated and thrown away… a minor irritation. Masking rule was positively enforced👍. It was a comforting feeling that the passengers were well behaved. Overall, I would definitely fly LATAM again.

Cons: "There was an air traffic controller's strike which I acknowledge was out of the airline's control. However, the airline had no systems in place to manage the number of affected passengers or provide timely communication. There was a five + hour standing wait at the check-in desk. Finally, our bags were checked and we were given boarding passes, only to spend another hour in the departure lounge without any information. In the end, our flight was cancelled without any apologies. There was no direction or assistance given to any of the passengers affected to reclaim their luggage or make alternative plans. In fact we were given incorrect information that we should rejoin the 5hr queue at the check-in desk to rebook on another flight for the following day (which we decided to forgo). It could only be described as a chaotic and unpleasant experience. I am told industrial strikes are common in Argentina so I am surprised that the airline hasn't found a better way to deal with these events."

The second delay was due to someone putting way too much fuel in the plane so we had to wait for the excess fuel to be removed. Then the flight attendants ended their shift so we had to wait for another crew that was flying in from Denver. This involved us having to remove all of our things from the overhead bin and get off the plane and re-board about an hour and half later. Cons: "Dear United Airlines, It is my dearest wish that reading the following inflicts upon you at least a fraction of the stress, frustration, and pain that I have been through traveling with you today- you absolutely abhorrent excuse for a company. Due to your incomparable incompetence my arrival was inexcusably delayed almost 12 hours. An account follows: For a company who's customer service is already hanging by a very thin thread you would think that you would be doing everything to make your flights as smooth and pleasant as possible. Shall I elaborate on the utter frustration and boredom of being trapped in the San Francisco airport facing not one, not two, but what became SEVEN delays? Delays that have been caused by runway maintenance- a condition which someone in your company would have known about well before I got to the airport and that you simply did not plan for. A almost FOUR HOUR delay that could have been easily avoided if you just had things together and scheduled your planes around the affected runways. And let's not forget the additional delay caused when your flight crew simply couldn't be found to come to the gate so we could start getting underway! But no, I think the absolutely outstanding quintessential experience that defines flying with United airlines is this: After the above delays myself and my fellow passengers were finally able to board our flight- only to be told by the captain that there would be another brief delay while we waited for ANOTHER crew member because one of the pilots was near the end of their union hours. We sit on the plane stuck for another 20 minuets or so, only to be told they can't find anyone, and can we please get off the plane because our WHOLE FLIGHT is CANCELED. The kiosk I get to try and fix this is uncrowded but understaffed and run by clearly undertrained employees. The ones I'm dealing with keep having to ask each other for help, and give advice/plans that contradict one another. One of theme even takes what seems to be a personal call while 'assisting' me. When I finally get ahold of a supervisor I have to plead to get the next flight out of this godforsaken place, which I am reluctantly given as its with one of your competitors. Talking with other customer and airport staff is sounds very much like you are delaying/canceling flights for your own personal gain or at least not correcting flights around the situation to squeeze more money from the situation) it becomes quite clear that you are not only still incapable of accepting any real measure of accountability but entirely disgracefully unorganized.  Almost 12 hours later I do finally make it home- thanks to American Airlines.  Only to have the utter displeasure of one last interaction with United wherein when I pick up my bag your employees insist that I was delayed due to the weather and it wasn't your fault. It was entirely absolutely your fault."

I will never forget my experience in Newark, New Jersey. I met a wonderful woman named Yevette who checked in my luggage. She is to be commended on going above and beyond the call of duty. I don't know her last name. She knew I was very upset because I was leaving my 22 year old baby in Connecticut. She sympathized and comforted me. She put her arms around me and assured me that everything was going to be alright. She is a wonderful woman with a big heart. She is the true meaning of a lady. I will never forget her and thank her so very much for being so gracious and kind to me."

My kids were scared to have to sit by strangers. No one offered to switch with us so at least the younger kids could sit by their parents. The steward, Tim was rude and snooty and annoying."
