The crew always seems to be bothered to serve the customer. There is also a big difference between services going straight to Santiago on the 787 and to Peru on the 767. I understand the plan (767) is older and that does not bother me. What bothers me is the disparity in service between the two. I received great service the first time I traveled on LATAM, ever since then they have disappointed. I do not understand what is going on with them."

Cons: "My flight to Lima was delayed therefore I would miss the connecting flight to LAX. I learned of the delay by overhearing a conversation the employee was having with another passenger. No announcement was made, no options were presented to help the passengers with connection find a solution until we started demanding a solution. This ordeal started at 9pm and we did not make it out of the airport till 1:50am to a hotel for a 6am pickup back to the airport to start the process all over again."

Cons: "First of all I bought my ticket through Kayak, but apparently something called the flight network was the issuer of my ticket apparently they are and travel agency in canada , first i needed to change my ticket and they could not do it , then I dis not use my outbound flight because I needed to get to my destinantion one day earlier and yesterday i received an email saying that my return flight was cancelled. they told me that since i did not use my outbound they automatically cancelled my return flight, I ended up loosing 300 USD because of mis information from that travel agency , the people that answered my call were very disrispectfull, this has been the worse experience and ai ended up loosing all my money I had to purchase another return ticket."

It is important to clarify with passenger about passing inmigration and aduana and the distance from international to national departures!!"

The gate attendants left at the time we were supposed to Board, then the departure time changed on the board and no announcement was made. Another gate attendant told me that the aircraft was at DYT, but the reason for delay was crew rest. As the delays continued, 3 in all, we were told that the aircraft was at DYT but we were waiting on a crew to be flown in from Charlotte. Not sure how AA messed up their crew rest schedule on domestic regional jet carrier. Either way, a new gate attendant arrived to take over, and continued to tell us we were waiting on crew. Then the story changed to waiting on aircraft and crew. By the time the 3rd change in departure had been made, and we were still waiting on aircraft and cre, AA failed to continue to update the departure and arrival times. Once we boarded around 9:00pm the boarding time still showed 8:10pm. Then we sat on the runway awaiting departure for approx 40 minutes before taking off. Very poor communication And customer service."

Cons: "The overhead space was smaller on this plane and as I learned on my trip to DTW my weekender carry-on would not fit with my shoes in it. Because of this, I pulled my shoes out and put them in a collapsible bag that fit under the seat in front of me along with my small personal bag as I had done on my previous flight. However, the gate agent would not allow me to board the plane and would not listen to my explainations at all as I tried to keep the boarding process moving along. She kept repeating "you have 3 bags" and made me steep out of line and check my carry-on (which I would then have to pick up at baggage claim). When I asked why I couldn't get out on the jetway like she had done for other passengers she said, " I only did that for airline employees" (quick happened to be a flight attendant from Spirit). My overall experience on both flights to and from Detroit was that the gate agents and flight attendants were the most unhelpful and rude airline employees I have delt with and I will stick to my preferred carrier, Delta, for my future flights back and forth to Detroit. They certainly make me feel like a valued customer when I fly them, which I did not feel with American."

First of all she just rudly dropped biscuits on my table didnt ask if i wanted and then I had to ask her for coffee, she didnt ask me if i wanted something to drink. Finally she brought my daughter and I some coffee. i ask for sugar and she said im very busy you have to wait....eventually she gave me one packet of sugar. I had to ask for another sugar for my daughter , so when i ask she gets upset and tells me i have to wait but there as a white who ask for assistance and she was very polite to her."

After that, we were told there would be another 30 minute delay. Once we were on board and the cabin doors were closed we were told there would be another 55 minute delay. Also, LGA is such a mess these days due to construction and would have been nice to get an email notification beforehand about it. We barely made our outgoing flight!"
Cons: "Without any explanation...American Airlines cancelled my reservation! I needed to be sent back to poor quality hotel for a night and take a different flight out the next morning. American Airlines was supposed to provide transportation back and forth from the hotel however a car never showed up at the hotel to pick us up and I needed to get my own taxi at the last minute (American did however reimburse me for the taxi fare at the airport). I never received an explanation as to why my reservation was cancelled and was never offered any type of compensation for such a major inconvenience. They dd ultimately waive my 25 bag fee but it wasn't very easy to even get that from them. I felt that they should have been more empathetic towards my inconvenience and offered me any type of compensation to make up for such a horrible experience. When I asked about possibly being upgraded to first class they told me absolutely not! A little graciousness can go a long way, American Airlines showed that they could not care less about my inconvenience (other than Rodrigo at the counter the next morning who actually showed he was truly sorry for the situation and at least ended up moving me to a row with more legroom). Other than this, I was extremely disappointed with this experience and how it was handled."

I didn't purchase a sandwich but on the outbound flight, the two guys next to me did and were both vocal about their disappointment with what they received for $9. And they were strangers who didn't talk to each other the rest of the time, so I think they meant it. Also, entertainment: they had a movie on the pop-down screens, and 4 free movies to stream to your device using on-board Wifi, as well as 2 TV shows. So maybe I'm being harsh. But it was a transcontinental flight and they didn't have headrest screens loaded with movies. Is this only for international flights? The movies were bad, or at least not appealing to me ('Keanu' and 'Zoolander 2'). It was possible to pay for additional movies, but who wants to do that? It was sort of the EasyJet model, where you get good basic service but pay for everything additional that one gets for free on Delta. Maybe that was reflected in the price I paid for the ticket, but I was expecting that AA would be in the same league as United and Delta. One nice perk: free wifi for T-Mobile customers, including me."

Cons: "The flight attendant was unfriendly at boarding. He did not say or play any pre-flight safety announcements. We were told the flight might have to refuel in Richmond due to major weather delays in LGA. When we were landing they said they expected a refuel and a quick turnaround in Richmond. On the plane after landing, I learned via my phone's internet the flight was cancelled. They never announced it on the plane. At the final moment before we disembarked, the crew told us to be sure to take our belongings. When we landed, Flightaware showed delays of 45 minutes at LGA. AA never took responsibility for the problem though the gate crew mentioned they canceled the flight because the crew was going to be over their maximum hours. AA really couldn't plan to allow for up to an hour delay? I feel disrespected and even deceived. Although it was clear that flight attendant really needed to get off that plane. At the gate, we were told there were no available flights to NYC and were stranded overnight in Richmond. AA did offer a hotel pretending it was a courtesy since they claimed the problem was weather related and not theirs. We chose to stay with relatives and were told AA could only provide transportation from the airport which we did not need. We often have problems and cancellations on this route from when it was branded a US Air route to the present, but this was egregious."

Cons: "I found out that my original flight (Wilmington to NY) was canceled 5 hours before it was scheduled to leave. I was rebooked on an earlier flight to Charlotte, which I could do because I had coincidently finished packing early and lived close to the airport. At the airport, my new flight was delayed, which could have caused me to miss my connecting flight to Boston and be stuck at the Charlotte airport overnight. I was then rebooked on a flight that was leaving to NY, with a connecting flight to Boston at 7."

The flight attendants was rude missed my connection flight because spirit is very unorganized and now I have to wait till tomorrow night to get home I hate spirit

One of the Spirit flight attendants, Raul, really went out of his was to attend to the needs of the passengers - actually the entire flight crew was splendid!

Cons: "First time ever taking spirit airlines and will never take again. We purposely picked this flight at the time due to it's cheaper price compared to other flights. Turns out it ended up being just as much, if not, MORE because when it was time to check in you had to pay extra. It was an extra $45 a person for each carry on. AND you had to pay $18 extra each person each way for the ability to pick seats (to guarantee we sit together). This would have all been fine had the trip been a comfortable one, but there was no plus side to taking this flight over a different airline. There were no TVs, no way to charge a phone, no shared movie where you could even attach headphones and listen. No just stare at each other, talk, or sleep was it. Never. Again."

Not only was I in danger of missing my cruise, I had to find other means of transportation as there were no flights available according to Spirit until Sunday Aug 20th , where as my cruise was scheduled to depart on Aug 19th... The customer service was horrible.. They made no effort to help customers only saying we could get a refund and another carrier@ an additional cost to consumers.. Long story short I'll never frequent Spirit Airlines again .. I'll also urge all my family friends and colleagues to do the same.. The so called low ticket prices are totally not worth the headache with all the additional nickel and dime efforts they make yogurt the low ticket prices they initially charge you.."

Cons: "The boarding procedure was absolute chaos. On two of my four flights this weekend, they had the wrong flight information posted on the screens at the gate. Nobody knew what gate was for what city. It seemed like the crew at O'hare didn't even know there was a Spirit flight scheduled because they didn't have a jetway for us. We had to wait for a ramp to be set up, walk across the tarmac, and up two flights of stairs into the terminal. Then on the way out, we had to do the same thing in reverse, even though our flight (heading for LGA) was listed as being four gates away. It turned out the flight at that gate was really going to Houston. The people who were going to Houston were waiting at a different gate until someone told the New York passengers to go to the gate with no jetway... Confused? They made me throw things away before they allowed my bag on the flight. I had to throw away shoes, I was so upset and confused I did not know what to do. I had no money since I just paid my rent. They didn't care. It was embarrassing. Now I need to save up for new shoes. They did not care about me and my situation. I flew home for my sisters wedding, I missed 4 days of work with no pay. My Mom had to budget for the and ticket because I couldn't . The staff is horrible at Ohare. The airlines apologized to my Mom via email. Told her I could have a $50 voucher, I can't afford another trip. What a joke! Nick M."

Cons: "Yeah you offer low fares but what's the point when you charge $60 for me to carry my own bag onto the plane and store it myself ...that is just being greedy . The fact that I arrived checked in and was stopped at security entrance to go back into a ridiculously long line to pay for my carry on luggage is ludicrous-again showing your greed , if someone gets through at least set it up for them to pay at the gate and not have to stand in long lines -time is the most precious of commodities these days. Once in security line customer service was awful , people yelling out all the cant dos rather than assisting people through the line for efficiency. I asked an agent if he could move me in the line as my flight boarded in 30 min and he simply said I can't do that but you can ask someone if they will let you go ahead -ARE YOU KiDDING ME ? Any other airline would show concern and assist accordingly-it's called customer service Once entering the plane , it was dirty and had a fowl odor in the cabin. Could see trash and debris from the prior flight and this was a 7am flight! . Seat did not recline and no entertainment options . Have not had an experience like that in a while and I will for sure steer clear of your airlines in the future. Not trying to be harsh -but you got some work to do"
Cons: "My flight was canceled with little notice, and the only option I was given by the airline was to try and find a seat on another flight back using their website. Well, nothing was available for several days, and I couldn't afford to miss that much work. Plus, Spirit's help line was totally unavailable. I ended up booking a last minute flight with Delta. Spirit later sent me a voucher for $50, but my ticket cost more than that, plus I had purchased extra baggage. That's still a loss of roughly $70. The voucher is also only good until July, and I have no flights planned any time in the near future where I could think about using it in time. You get what you pay for, and from now on I'll just be paying more for flights with airlines I can trust."

Cons: "Spirit is such a rip off. You think your saving money by at the end of the day you lose out. The bags can only weigh 40 pounds as compared to delta and jet blue that cost 25 dollars. Carry on cost 55 dollars each!!! No movies on board and even the cans of soda cost 7 dollars? The crew members are ghetto and they look sloppy and with beards and they all have different uniforms. They were fooling around the whole time and joking with each other as well as making faces behind customers back when passengers were asking questions or making them look dumb. Never again! And I will tell this to all my friends who travel frequently to not book with spirit airlines. The seats don't recline and there is no port for audio. If you want to sit together with your friends it's an extra 18 dollars a seat!? I'm very disappointed with spirit. The aircraft itself was very noisy. At the end of the day I spent more money with spirit then I would have with delta or JetBlue. Im a police officer in NYC and I will go back to everyone who goes on vacation (which is about 500 people or more) I know and tell them how disappointed I am."
Cons: "I know for a fact that I will never take a spirit flight again in my life and neither should you. I was supposed to leave Fort Lauderdale on Saturday at 11:30am. The flight kept being delayed until 6:30pm when passengers were finally told that it was cancelled. The runaround that Spirit gave us was absolutely ridiculous - literally. Due to the plane still being in Fort Myers and not being at the original gate they made us change to 3 different gates -E2, E7, G10- various locations within the airport. I am talking about one side of the airport to another. Finally, at the last gate 10, the plane arrives at 1pm but there was mechanical difficulties that had to be repaired. We boarded the plane at 3pm once the plane was fixed. We sat on the plane for 45 minutes before a Rep came on the plane to ask for 4 volunteers to give up their seats. Four people leave and another group of four people board. Captain tells us that they are searching for luggage and once that's finished we will leave. An hour later, still seated in the plane the Captain apologizes and says that he will let us leave the plane to stretch our legs because Laguardia has not cleared the plane for take off. At this point it is close to 5pm. We wait another hour and half of Reps saying they don't have info because apparently now there is a weather concern in NY that is causing the delay. I immediately call my husband to ask about the weather and he tells me it was sunny, 60 degrees, and it rained for 20 minutes. I get a feeling that Spirit is about to cancel this flight and even ask the Reps- they all say no the flights not being cancelled. After another hour and half wait they make the grand announcement that the flight is cancelled. If you thought that was the worst part of my day, think again. After chaos breaks out from the passengers we are told to find customer service at gate H5. Another trek trough the airport we reach customer service who is a lone Rep with a line wrapped around the corner. After waiting another hour to speak to her, she tells me the earliest flight Spirit could put me on is Tuesday night (remember it's Saturday night). I ask if there is a way to get on to other airlines and she tells me that it isn't spirits policy to find me any flight home. They could only reimburse me and I would have to book my own flight home. I leave the line and start searching for flights and it becomes clear that flights are booked going to NY. I eventually book a flight for the next day on United that leaves out of Miami airport, connects in Chicago and lands in Newark. I took this flight that was 3 times the cost of the Spirit flight, with connections, an hour and half drive from my house just so I could end the Spirit nightmare. Moral of the Story: For your sanity, to be treated professionally with consideration to your time, take any airline other than Spirit."
Pros: "My experience with spirit airlines on 2/25/2017 was initially good after being checked in at the gate due to the fact that my mother and I were flying standby on United. After waiting most of the day I decided to purchase two ticket on spirit airlines through kyack.com and travelocity. I paid $428.38 to which there was no mention of a handbag fee. Even after check in at the gate there was no mention of a hand bag fee by the initial agent. While sitting and waiting for boarding there was a loud booming voice over the PA system it was Ricardo Employee # 34537. He announced in a loud angry voice if you have a personal bag and a carry on that does not fit under your seat you have to pay $65 for the bag prior to boarding. If you wait till you get to the gate then you have to pay $100. This was said and repeated in an angry and condescending way. I felt like I was being robbed without a weapon being present. This is something I have never experienced before although I have flown on Spirit Airlines once before many years ago. I will not be doing that again. I will not recommend this airline to anyone. I felt like cattle when it was time for boarding."

Cons: "This was by far the worst experience I've ever had flying. Our flight out was cancelled but the website didn't reflect he change so we needlessly came to the airport. I'll never fly with spirit again and will recommend that my friends and family avoid it too. On the return trip, we felt manipulated by a series of difficult to understand rules and surprise pricing the entire time. The machine was broken at the check in but no one told us that would make us ineligible for check in pricing. Everyone was aggressively unhelpful and even rude at every turn."

Cons: "Aside from awful seats, boarding procedures got for cattle, and Spirit's attempts to make you buy extras while booking(multiple, fervent, attenpts), they have no water on board except for purchase. I asked repeatedly for a cup of the rate substance to wash down a pill-my bag with credit cards was stashed somewhere else, the seatbelt sign was on, and I had a well deserved splitting headache. The answer was "absolutely not". Eventually-I bought a bottle for 3$.thos airline shouldn't be allowed to continue-. Also-the crew was pushing MasterCard applications-promising a certificate of 2500airmiles for completing it. The miles, are, in fact, unusable. Even if I used the card, the fees for booking with miles far exceed the price of the actual ticket."

Cons: "We arrived on what was apparently a very busy travel day for a 7:20 flight over an hour before the flight. Once we arrive at the terminal there was a line outside the terminal including hundreds of passengers for various flights covering the entire sidewalk outside the terminal (FLL). Thankfully we were pulled out of this line due to our flight leaving within about an hour to a shorter line to check in our bag (which still moved incredibly slowly). Once we were all checked in including our bag we lined up at security. There a woman asked for anyone going to our destination at which time she we acknowledged us looked at line ahead and turned away never too acknowledge us again. We went through the security line and were on our way to the gate within the time limit. Then we walked through the terminal to our gate which was apparently at the further possible gate from our assigned terminal (with my elderly parents who weren't able to walk at a quick pace). During our long walk to fare there wasn't even one announcement about our flight completing boarding or announcing that this would happen soon. Once we arrived at the gate another woman told us the doors were closed and no additional passengers were to be allowed in. We understood that despite the ridiculous security line and distance to the gate that we did not arrive on time and were turned away. This is where I felt that the gate associate acted unprofessionaly and allowed 2 other passengers to board even after turning us away. I asked why, despite the doors still being opened for these other passengers, that we were turned away? The woman said she couldn't help us and that we would be allowed into the next flight. We returned to the terminal for rebooking and waited almost 2 hours on line to get on the next flight. At this point we were told that all flights were booked until at least 24 hours later. Then we switched our flights to an airport about an hour away (PBI) to land at an airport two hours from our original destination (ACY instead of LGA). I'm the end we spent the entire day traveling. I would understand that we weren't at the gate by the designated time (due to the ridiculous check-in line and security line) but the part that infuriated me was that 2 passengers were allowed onto the plane after we were turned away. I felt that because I didn't yell or whine, my family weren't allowed to board the flight and the two passengers who did argue, were allowed to board is a poor business practice and disrespectful. This was compounded by the poor attitude of the gate agents and the fact that there were no announcements made about our flight."
Cons: "Spirit has a special way of making you wish you didn't need luggage when you travel. Both going and returning there was at least a 45 minute wait for the luggage at baggage claim. That just adds the insult to the injury of paying over $40 per bag (carry on size) each way. Don't you dare bring that bag to the gate or there will be a $100 dollar charge to carry it on the plane. After paying over $480 per ticket to fly from LGA to Fort Lauderdale. So my family get away to Florida cost nearly $2000 for air fair followed by $240 for my families 3 small bags. No frills = highway robbery. Be sure to bring your own water because that isn't available (for free) either."

Cons: "This company is so cheap, they charge you $45 for a carry-on bag, and they don't even have reclining seats on their planes. Even worse, there are no monitors next to the gates to tell you WHERE THE FLIGHT IS GOING. Because of this, when they change a plane's gate, they don't have anywhere to tell people. So they tell you when you go up to get on your plane, which is already 30 minutes late, and it's too late to catch your flight. Then you get to spend 3 hours waiting in lines to talk to Spirit employees who are just annoyed, stubborn, and won't give you a refund. Absolutely terrible experience. Seriously, pick any other airline than these guys."
Pros: "Board flight. Fly to destination. I love the no frills, low luggage, easy on and easy off of this airline. My biggest feeling of stress on flights is the drink service. The cart is always blocking the bathroom, you are thinking of what free beverage you want the entire first hour, you spill some of it, then you have trash for the second hour of the flight. It's literally the worst part of flying other than the endless fear of death and facing your mortality with every hint of turbulence. This airline and others like it are amazing. No stress of awkwardly bothering your aisle mates with getting in and out when they just got a comp. cola. and you feel like you have to wait until they're done before you can go to the bathroom. Half the anxiety of flying is alleviated for me personally. Love this airline."

Cons: "Flight was over 3 hours late. Spirit didn't even alert me. Once finally on the plane, crew was extremely rude. The lady next to me asked one of the flight attendants mid-flight, "Will we be there by 8?". The attendant rolled her eyes, scoffed, and replied, "You wish!" What an unnecessarily snarky comment. Seats were extremely small and uncomfortable (I'm very small - only 5'4, I can't imagine if you were a tall person). No free food or beverages are offered (not even water). They nickel and dime you for EVERYTHING. No in flight entertainment. I've flown Spirit before, but this experience trumped them all. I will NEVER fly Spirit again."

Cons: "Horrible flight situation and horrible customer service. Flight delayed 8 hours in 30-60 minute increments without any solid updates, information, or feedback when asked questions politely. The situation was constantly blamed on the weather when there was nothing happening outside and everyone who has a smart phone could see it's because of the Mike Pence plane issues at LGA, so being lied to is not an effective way of dealing with an issue. Every other flight got out hours before ours and your agents claimed that this wasn't true, yet it was. I will never fly this airline ever again because of my terrible experience, and I have been sure to share this experience with others and will continue to do so."
Cons: "The flight is advertised as low priced, but at the cost of checking a small carry on for $50 each way. For $100 more for ticket we could've flown JetBlue with amenities like water and coffee and attentive professional flight attendants. The plane was extremely loud, and sounded as if the panels could be ripped right off during landing and takeoff. We shouldve just packed a backpack. I don't think I would ever fly this airline again because the overall feeling was that the equipment was rickety and unsafe. I guess Ive just become accustomed to professionalism and service on other airlines."
Cons: "I got the airport 44 minutes prior the flight and was told I couldn't check in because I was 1 minute past the boarding time. I was also told there were no other flights available that day and that I could go out again the following day for a $100 penalty. This was not possible as I was attending a wedding that evening. Moreover, they said that because I "missed" the flight I could not get a refund. I ran over to the JetBlue ticketing desk, who had a flight departing at the exact same time. They issued a ticket and I was able to fly to my destination. I think it ridiculous that Spirit will not issue a boarding pass 44 minutes prior to a flight. Especially since I was carrying on luggage. I was also not aware of their policy. I also don't understand why Jet Blue could issue me a ticket for a flight at the same time and Spirit could not. I've never head of a 45 minute prior check-in for a flight with carryon. The desk person was also unhelpful, despite me being very polite and begging for him to allow me to check-in."
Cons: "We ended up having to cancel our flight due to Hurricane Matthew. The airline refused to give us a reimbursement for the ticket even though we bought insurance thru your company. I spent hours on the phone with both spirit and your company and still nothing was resolved. Now have an insurance claim hoping to get my money back as we would never use spirit for any other flight besides the one that we were planning to take as it's the only direct flight to Myrtle Beach. You also have to pay for seat assignment and baggage, and that's including a carry on. It's ridiculous."
Cons: "I arrived at 5:18 for a 6am flight DTW to LGA. Was unable to print my boarding pass because was too late. Asked for assistance from agent, who told me gate was closed and wouldn't allow me through. I don't believe that the gate was closed 35 mins before departure, and I feel the agent could have made some effort to get me on the flight, especially after I told her I'm an oncologist and that I needed to be in New York to start seeing patients at 9am. Agents (Alexis and Leila) flatly refused, completely unsympathetic. Fortunately was able to get on next available flight on Delta, at cost of $450."

Cons: "I won't bother telling you all the things you know about Spirit but that you think might be tolerable in exchange for cheap airfare: seats that don't recline, a charge for a carry-on bag, a charge to print a boarding pass, a charge for soda and snacks. All of that I'm used to, as is anyone who flies Spirit. You want basic amenities, fly Delta. You want cheap, fly Spirit. But something new and remarkably unwelcome happened on this flight: we arrived at the airport an hour before our 6am flight and were told when we tried to check in that we were too late and the flight was closed. I explained that we already had booked a flight--I wasn't asking to buy a new ticket. She said she understood, but we'd never clear security in time (there was no line) and that our bags probably wouldn't arrive at our destination because we were "so late." We had no bags. I said we needed to get home. They said, "You're supposed to be here 2 hours early." That rule is a bit like the speed limit--no one actually follows it to the T. There's a range of appropriate (say, less than 2 but more than 1 hour) and inappropriate (say, 15 minutes before your flight). When you're flying at 6am and you know there won't be a line, you don't really arrive that early. Anyway, they called a supervisor who said to let us board. And then there was a mechanical problem with this plane that was so intent on leaving ASAP that we weren't going to be allowed to board a full hour in advance. And the flight was an hour delayed, meaning I guess we really did arrive 2 hours in advance. Dump Spirit. It is never, ever worth it."

Cons: "Terrible customer service rude employees left and right. Nobody you spoke to sounded eager or willing to help with any issue with any passengers the attitudes were absolutely ridiculous. I didn't think my flight returning could be any worse than the first one but I was wrong. Never in my life have I had to go through that and for me to be trying to make it to a funeral that had to be the most unpleasant travel experience. Never again it was insulting all the money I spent to be treated with zero compassion or respect. Other passengers were trying to get in hold of employees to file numerous complaints. No one was at either customer service desks in the terminal. Just horrible."
Pros: "The idea that I don't have to use Spirit the next time I travel"
Cons: "I got to the Airport to try to print out my boarding pass 45 minutes before the flight at 5:20 AM for a 6:05 flight. I must have missed the required cut off (45 minutes to check in) by a minute or two and the Spirit Airlines person responsible for helping refused to help me and even acknowledged that there was no line at security and I would have easily been able to get on the flight and I had no bag to check in. She said I could get on a flight the next day. I had to buy a ticket from another airline in order to get home."
Pros: "The only positive thing I can say is that the "extra room" seats are actually comfortable. The significantly high extra cost for these seats is worth it, considering how terribly uncomfortable the standard seating is. Look it up, Spirit has the worst seating of any American airline. Pay for the extra room comfortable seats, it's the only way to bear this airline."
Cons: "Spirit was delayed across the board on my return trip from Detroit to New York. No other airline was having problems that day, only Spirit. The communication from the airline regarding the delays was terrible. The delay was frequently modified (both up and down) without a clear answer from the gate crew. At one point the flight was removed from the airport departure board, with no explanation from anyone. At one point the gate crew announced a vague departure time, and then quickly retreated behind the locked jetway door so that they would not have to face questions from the confused passengers waiting for information from Spirit. The airline needs to learn something: passengers are easy to figure out and easy to placate; all we want is to be informed. Keep us in the loop and we'll be able to handle delays without complaint. We are adults and understand issues happen when dealing with a complicated air schedule. But keeping us in the dark and not informing us of basic things like departure times is a surefire way to get people agitated and angry. Just keep us informed!"
Cons: "The crew at the gate let a large family through... they were sneaking additional bags on the plane. Trying to have kids carry them and hiding them in strollers, etc. Instead of charging them for the bags they saw, which were all larger than the free item size crew still let them through. I counted eight bags and that made me very angry because so many people pay in advance and I packed extremely light to avoid additional charges and this family was rude and careless with no consequence. They did not pay the additional fee for any of the bags!"
Cons: "Spirit airlines would not issue a refund for my cancelled trip to Miami despite the high Zika risk, attendant CDC travel warning, and the fact that I notified them of my pregnancy. They purported to issue me a $120 "voucher" (to expire in 60 days) though I initially paid around $400 for the tickets. The website failed to display the voucher number, and my requests to their customer service center to please provide it were ignored. It's hard to imagine how I'd even be able to use it as there is no voucher redemption option on their site. I will never book another flight with this airline."
Cons: "I would NEVER recommend Spirit Airlines to even my worst enemy. The airline unilaterally canceled by flight without informing me, and luckily, I was checking the website prior to the flight to discover it. I was not offered any viable flight options out, despite me offering to drive to four (4) different nearby states to go to different airports! The customer service is horrible and they caused me to miss the entire trip with no remedy! After this incident, I researched Spirit Airlines and saw tons of other reviews where customers seem to have similar complaints! I will never fly Spirit Airlines and will never refer them... customers BEWARE!"

Cons: "I arrived at O'Hare and my flight was cancelled. I had to book another flight for the next day ($480+) and a hotel room for the night ($200+) ALL AT MY EXPENSE. The Spirit representatives said that someone from Spirit would contact me in a few days to reimburse me for the flight from O'Hare to NYC, but as of a week, no one has. I have very little faith that anyone ever will or that I will be reimbursed for the flight that was cancelled. I intend to report Spirit to the NYS Attorney General's Office. Everything was bad, since I had to spend close to $700 of my own money to get back home. VERY VERY BAD."
Pros: "The cost of airfare was good but also competitive with other airlines like American and United. I chose Spirit Air because the flight worked with my schedule."
Cons: "I missed my flight along with others because of a delay going through the TSA security check. Arrived at the gate 14 minutes prior to departure. An international traveler with a small child was waiting to board as well. The CSA had just walked down the jetway and was suppose to return. Four minutes later the flight pushed out of the gate, departing 10 minutes early. The staff knew of the TSA delay. If I had made my flight it would have cost me an additional $100 dollars to check my carry on suite case that I have been flying with for the past two years on other airlines without any fee. Spirit Air requires you to have a smaller carry on suitcase than the rest of the industry. So my $96 dollar fare would now be $196. American Air was also offering a deal at the time for $91, but the time did not work with my schedule. Spirit Air is not a deal. If you check your carry on suitcase on line it will cost you $45. If you check your bag at the gate it will cost you $65. If you check your bag while boarding it will cost you $100. Traveller beware!"

Cons: "The entire trip from beginning to end was the worst experience ever. If you absolutely have to take this airline, be sure to look up baggage information before traveling. I spent over $130 before even getting through security just on luggage. Our flight was delayed due to no air conditioning on the plane but they later said it was due to traffic control so that they wouldn't have to compensate us. All in all I was not able to catch a flight until eight hours later. Trying to get compensation and sort out our flight arrangements after being delayed was the worst experience as well. The airport supervisor/Spirit airline supervisor was not even able to help us, they ended up calling airport security and police due to the rowdiness of people not getting any help. Not only was it difficult getting help at the airport but going to the last resort of calling the airline was no better. Every representative barely spoke English and would not put a supervisor on the phone. I called three times in a matter of the eight hours and still was not able to speak to a supervisor nor a US representative. I will never fly with them again and I suggest the same for everyone else. I really hope our reviews from that day is widely broadcasted, and taken into consideration. SpirtAirlines, FortLauderdale departure."

Cons: "The low cost of air fare is made up in ridiculous baggage fees. Not only that, but I'm a military war veteran and the attendant at check in at Myrtle Beach airport wouldn't give me the military baggage fee waiver because I'm not officially on active duty anymore. I told her and the manager that I am ALWAYS on active duty and they acted like they could care less. Spirit airlines would do better if they waived fees for military veterans with proof of service as well as active duty. At least give veterans a discount or something to show appreciation for the sacrifices we made for this country. If there's one thing I despise, it's a lack of appreciation for our military service members. You civilians have no idea. You stand behind the check in counter and shrug your shoulders offering a fake apology for the inconvenience but if you knew what we had to go through, and the things we had to do to secure your freedoms, you'd be giving us flights for free. Other than the lack of military appreciation and ridiculous fees we paid to check one bag, the airline was good. I don't know if I'll ever fly Spirit airlines again if things remain the same, but that's just me."

Cons: "I got into he line 70 minutes before my flight, which was considered a "late check in" and the line was so long I missed my flight! The next flight to my destination was 12 hours later, so I said I would have to purchase another ticket with a different carrier. The cashier informed me I would get refunded for the missed flight. Flash forward to my return flight, they canceled it! The cashier never noted that we even spoke, and it is procedure to cancel the rest of the booking if a customer doesn't get onto a flight. It was a complete nightmare. I had to purchase another ticket home and the kicker: no refund for either flight that I didnt even go on. You get what you pay for. Spend more and go with a larger carrier. I've always had good experiences with Southwest."

Cons: "Unfortunately my flight with Spirit was one of the most inconvenient unpleasant and most disappointing flight experiences I have ever had. Before I bought the ticket I made sure that my carry on bag fits the requirements for the free personal item carry on. I get to the airport and apparently my bag was one inch too big because the handle was sticking out of the grey line an inch and I had to go back to the baggage drop off and pay for an extra carry on bag. Since a carry on bag is more expensive than an actually checked suitcase, I obviously checked my bag. Where do you pay more for carry on's than checked in luggages? Either way needles to say I could have packed an actually suitcase in the first place since I ended up checking my bag. Finally on the plane the crew was very unfriendly and unprofessional. They chit chatted and were busy fixing their hair, while passangers boarded. Didn't look right or left to say hi and greet people. As I made my way all the way to the back where I was sitting I have noticed that the aircraft was covered in bread crumbles and cookies on the floor and seats from the flight before. I cleaned my seat and sat down. Security instructions... nobody cared that the window shields had to be open for take off and landing nore that passengers were having tabletts and purses on their laps. The backrests weren't in an upright position at all. Next thing the pilot did not really speak that great of an english so that the flight attendant had to repeat what he said in order for us to understand it. She announced that all drinks need to be paid for including water coffee and tea. Wow... what an amazing flight. Never again, and I can definitely not recommand this airline to anyone else. Tickets are not cheaper than others the airport is very inconvenient and you have to pay seperatly for everything else which makes it more and more expensive and in the end you don't save at all but actually pay way more than jetblue for example for a poor service and dirty planes. I am evry disapointed well, rather furious I paid so much money and had to check in a personal item that is supposed to be free online."
Pros: "Absolutely nothing. Would never fly with Spirit ever again."
Cons: "Make sure you realize that unlike literally every other airline, Spirit charges you $30 to bring a carry on if you pay in advance online, $55 if you end up paying at check in at the airport, and $100 if you do so at the gate. Carry on, not checked luggage. Every other airline will not charge you for it. If you want to pick your seat, or keep your family together on a flight, you have to pay extra, whereas every other airline, it's pretty much free. Because of this I was placed next to a 12 year old girl by herself in the very back row, thankfully the crew had enough sense to make sure to not let a grown stranger be in this position and moved me to a different seat, but had they allowed free seat choices, she could have sat next to her family and there would never be an issue. If you want a beverage on the flight and didn't pick up your own ahead of time, it will run you $3 while every other airline will give it to you as a complimentary service - meaning no charge. Their website touts that you're saving money on the flight cost by them charging these excessive fees, but I literally only saved $10 from the next highest flight price, ultimately running me $45 extra. Terrible business model."
Pros: "Nothing."
Cons: "1. I checked-in at the Kiosk 2 hours before the flight. Had to pay for my seat. Not an exit seat, JUST A REGULAR SEAT. 2. I waited an HOUR AND A HALF to "drop off" my luggage, that I was charged $50 for. (by the by - you have a fee for a carry on as well) 3. When I got to finally drop off my bag, it was given a "Late Check-in" tag, per #2, I was NOT late by any means. 4. My luggage didn't make it to my destination AND they would not send it to me because I was "a late check-in" (refer to #2). So I had to wait 5 hours in the neighborhood (thankfully I was from there and had family to hang out with) to go back to the airport and pick up my bag. So, all in all, a $145 ticket would have actually cost me $260. Oh - and you don't even get WATER on board... you have to pay for that as well. If the Spirit airline folks were nice, that might have been okay, but cherry on top SURPRISE - they were rude, borderline hostile. I experienced anxiety on the fact that I had to fly back on this craptastic airlines, so I actually wound up booking a flight with another airline (don't know if I can say whom here - but think.... PlaneAzure) and they were AWESOME. All in all, my new flight only cost me an additional $15 (because I would have had to pay $50 for my one check-in and $13 for my seat - and I'm active military - nope, they don't care). I'm surprised I didn't have to swipe my credit card to pay to use the lavatory. Never, ever again."

Cons: "Late boarding, lack of communication with customers, no foot room, not even free water - $3 for a bottle of water! Not even a snack unless you pay for it with plastic (wonder how they can do that since US money says right on it "This note is legal tender for all debts public and private."I'm surprised they don't install pay toilets. Very late departure and very late arrival. This is a nickle and dime airline. They advertise low fares and then they charge for everything else at ridiculous prices. By the time you pay for all the extras you could have ridden on a better airline where you could at least get a cup of water. Their web site is a horror story when you try to check in as you go through endless windows trying to sell "upgrades." Of course, you can get a nominal discount on your baggage if you purchase some membership for $59.99! Who are they kidding? I would never fly on this airline again.I realize things cost money but I don't like to be treated like an open wallet instead of a valued customer."
Cons: "The airlines lied outright to passengers regarding the reason for the 4 hour delay. Reported a ground delay to Laguardia because of ice and snow. It was 43 degrees in NYC!!!! When I pointed that I ought the agent just shrugged. When pressed repeatedly after several hours by various passengers they admitted it was a Spirit Air systems failure. The gate agents were less than helpful and were down right rude when multiple sought information regarding the delay. ( We boarded, pushed off the gate, sat on the tarmac, then were brought back and allowed to leave the plane and wait at the gate) I will never fly with then again."
Cons: "It was not clearly conveyed when purchasing the ticket that baggage fees were not included in the base price. Thus, we not only had to pay to check 2 bags and 2 carry-ons for 170$, we also had to pay an extra 100$ because our checked bags were "overweight" at 50lbs (they only accept 40lbs bags) - and this was only ONE WAY. We will have to pay that $270 on our return flight as well. Ultimately our baggage fees cost us 4X more than our two ticket fares combined! Now I wouldn't call that a "bargain" by any means - we could have gotten two first-class tickets on delta for the total amount we ended up paying. We will never fly spirit again and will ultimately think twice when booking through kayak. What a bummer."
Cons: "I would not recommend spirit airlines. You have to pay for everything including a cup of water. Even your seats you had to pay for I thought that would be included with the purchase price. The seats on the aircraft didn't recline so I don't know why anyone would pay for a seat. The flight attendants seemed miserable I would be to if I worked for spirit. The boarding process was utter chaos. For some reason you have to pay for a carry on bag I'm not exactly sure why any other airline I have been on allows one carry on for free. I will never buy a flight with spirit airlines ever again."
Cons: "I understand it is a budget airline, but after you pay for baggage and seats, you aren't spending any less than on a normal commercial flight. If the flight cost 1/2 the amount as AA, Delta I wouldnt be complaining. But i felt tricked booking through Kayak and not knowing about the extra fees associated with Spirit until after I booked. I have never flown spirit and since i didnt use their website, i saw there are additional fees but there wasnt any pricing. For the same price as other flights, the seats dont decline, no legroom, you have to pay for water, and both flights i booked were delayed. Why send the same about at the end of your travel day to be less comfortable and pay for your drinks? Last time for me!"

Cons: "There is nothing I like about Spirit. I will rather die next time than to fly spirit!!!!! they have all sorts of hidden fees, while they claim is in the disclaimer no one reads the fine prints so it's a bit of a shock to find out even carry luggage cost. O chose them obviously for the rate but after paying for all my carry on and checked bag the cost was the same except not a pleasant ride Seats are awful and too small the entire experience was just awful. I beg people to reconsider. While they may save a buck or two they will pay for it in the experience. A bus ride from Florida to New York maybe more pleasant."

Cons: "On flight from LGA to DTW, then back to LGA, the experience was bad. They charge you for every bag you bring -- as a carry on or checked in. There were two great flight attendants, but one, a man named Brian, who was very rude and condescending. He actually said, "Your phone should now be in airplane mode. Most of you don't know what that means. If you don't know how to do this, ask the nearest ten year old." This without previous notice asking us to put on phones on flight mode. And it'd be hilarious if he was kidding, but he wasn't. Since they nickel and dime you so bad, I ended up payment about 25% more taking this airline after bag charges, coffee, this and that. Never again!"
Cons: "Spirit Airlines is the worst airline of ALL time. On our way to Detroit we were delayed for two hours and on our way back from Detroit we were delayed for four hours. They claimed it was because it was airplane trouble. My guess is they were trying to add additional seating by removing the lavatory. Perhaps they figured they could make more money by selling the extra seat in the lavatory vs charging to go to the bathroom and another charge for flushing the toilet. Regarding the multitude of "additional charges" or shall we say ambush charges by Spirit Airlines we were hit with a $52.00 charge at the ticket counter even though we paid for our baggage on line 24 hours in advance. (This was addition to baggage charges already paid) I'm old enough to know two things. 1) you get what you pay for. 2) if the price is too good to be true, something is amiss. My advise to my fellow travelers pay a bit more, decent leg room, friendly service, an 800 number to call if necessary and straightforward charges. Never Again am I flying Spirit Airlines. Good riddance."
