Cons: "The ambient lighting used throughout the cabin was too bright and stimulating to let me fall asleep in an overnight flight, should have been dimmed more or turned off. The seats did not help the comfort levels either, should have been able to recline a tad bid more. The carry-on-bag situation is getting out of control, you should crack down on people who bring too many bags or oversized bags that should be checked in instead."

Customer Service was as useless as the individuals in person that I dealt with. I never made it to my destination because I was forced to return home to San Francisco, unable to see my wife-to-be in Brasil. I will never fly with this airline again."

During the in-flight meal I found an object that looked like a piece of a plastic tie. I gave it to the flight attendant but she appeared unconcerned and indifferent to the situation, making no apology what so ever."

I understand there are these seats on the plane, I just wish I would have known prior or been given the option to change seats."

They spent the 10 minutes doing paperwork at the counter and not checking in passengers."

Cons: "I had a long long layover in Guayaquil, more than 5 hours. The plane was due to depart at 6, and the ground crew did not arrive until 5 a.m. There were 25 people waiting in line. That said, they were extremely professional and quickly assisted everyone. I like Avianca a lot and would definitely fly this airline again."

Pros: "awful turbulence as we approached quito. pilot had to ascend just as we were landing. We circled quito for about 15 mnutes while strong winds shook the plane. pilot handled the plane well.. we all clapped when we landed.."

Cons: "Purchased a round-trip in and out of El Salvador. On the return to El Salvador, ticket agents made me purchase a one-way return to the United States, claiming that I would not be allowed to enter El Salvador otherwise since I do not have residency there. Despite repeatedly explaining to them that I had done this multiple time before on other airlines, and that immigration in El Salvador does NOT ask for proof of return, they would not let me board unless I purchased a return ticket to the United States. As expected, I was NOT asked for ANY proof of return when entering El Salvador. The Avianca staff was uninformed, wrong, and rude. They showed no interest in listening to us or helping us solve this problem. I will now have to call and cancel this ticket, and fight to get the $25 ticketing fee refunded. Do not expect great service from Avianca."

I was informed from Tripit that the flight was delayed, not by Delta. Reservation personnel took logical course of action to find new flight for connection that we could make because of delayed initial flight. I would recommend that they first see if there is an earlier initial flight that the customer could make, then look at finding later connecting flights. We found out about delay 8 hours prior, so we had plenty of time to get to the airport earlier. Total delay required me to take additional day off of work."

I won't be able to get a seat ahead of time on the way home either which will be an even longer flight (6+ hours) and will likely be stuck in a middle seat yet again. If this is the case with booking through third party sites, I won't do this again."

She did everything she could to help me as they arranged to get me on the next flight and as I waited and boarded. The other agent serving at that same desk also helped. I am sorry I did not get her name. No one could have been nicer than Ana was to me."
Cons: "When I arrived in Panama my boarding pass said the flight from Panama to Quito was leaving from Gate 20. I checked with the departure information and did not see Quito on the list. I made the mistake of not checking the time. And therefore waited and waited at gate 20 for the flight to Panama which by that time I had missed. On my way to Mexico they required that I show proof that I had a flight leaving Mexico. I did, on another airline, and I couldn't access my email to prove it so they would not let me board the flight., Again there is NO requirement to prove my returning flight, I had to pay a change fee to board the flight the following day, I lost a day of my vacation, because of the airline requirements THAT NO OTHER AIRLINE requires."

As in all other airlines first class participants are served anything they desire while the economy passengers board. It wasn’t until an hour into our flight that we were offered something again. At one point, I turned around and noticed that the first several rows of economy class already had their meals. Before first class. This is not something I would expect. I only fly economy class and was beyond excited to experience the first class amenities, only to feel extremely disappointed in the service by AeroMexico. At this time, I would like to request a refund on the upgrade."
