Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Cons: "No food or beverage service while in COVID mood. Pilates and flight crews were inconsistent with using masks. However overhead announcements by AA constantly stated that face mask were required and that the could prevent you from traveling with AA."
Cons: "Not have 6 hour delays after people have already boarded the plane."
Pros: "Denver airport boarding crew was really Good. Flight attendants not so much. I’m sure they were as tired as the clients after the 4 hour delay"
Cons: "Better communication and resolve Maintenance issues or change the aircraft sooner. Which is what finally happened. Delay started in L.A."
Pros: "Seat was ok because we paid more or has a “status”"
Cons: "Nothing has changed and nothing will-services is nothing to write home about, with yr little pack of pretzels-i am happy to get safely to my destination and that’s all that matters"
Cons: "Excellent flight"
Pros: "No major screw-ups this time!"
Cons: "It's AA, let's not try too hard here."
Pros: "Crew was very friendly"
Cons: "Seats were extremely uncomfortable, and hurt my back very much."
Cons: "miserable crew, old equipment. Cabin was very cold during flight"
Pros: "Because the flight wasn't full we passengers in the main cabin had the chance to spread out a bit more, which was great on such a long flight. Also the flight attendant let me have my scotch for free! Hooray!"
Cons: "Without power at each seat it's difficult to take advantage of the otherwise free entertainment that is only accessible through the app or on a laptop. There was a DC power outlet at my seat (not all of the seats in the main cabin even have that) but guess what--it required a cigarette-lighter-style adapter to plug in. I certainly don't travel around with one of those! And most of the other seats in the main cabin had no access to power at all. My battery wouldn't possibly last through a 7-hour-plus flight without supplementary power. Oh well, fortunately there are still books and magazines. Just like old times. Be more like United or any other international airline, American!"
Cons: "Traveling during the holidays is never fun and a flight with American International doesn’t make it any better. No personal entertainment system on board, no place to charge a phone, an overnight flight with lights on bright enough to read by and a seat clearance of about 1cm."
Pros: "Plane was only half full"
Cons: "American did not allow an upgrade at gate and said they never do that but just did it less than a year ago. He said we had to call, then walked away. Plane so old no plugs to charge devices on long flight, horrible."
Cons: "no air jets. told it was an old plane with no air jets. Very uncomfortable flight for 7.5 hours."
Pros: "The crew was awesome, very attentive and helpful."
Cons: "The plain was very old meaning no screens, outlets, pretty much no entertainment what so ever."
Pros: "Sweet new plane."
Cons: "Late. Plane was only about 1/3 full but husband and i were seated five rows apart."
Pros: "food, alcohol very good, pleasant flight"
Pros: "Surprisingly enough leg room for me, even though im 6 foot 6in. Staff on plane were very very nice."
Cons: "In lax The women checking your ticket before you go upstairs to security was super rude. Theres one tiny bathroom in the entire AA terminal."
Pros: "Crew was excellent, very polite, very helpful."
Cons: "Entertainment system would not play any movies or music. Eventually they got it working for most passengers, but around 20% including myself still had no service."
Pros: "All of the above marked excellent. Very smooth flight too."
Cons: "The vegan food was a bit ordinary. Maybe think of Thai and indian veggie curries, roasted veggie and potatoes, pasta with no cheese, etc. :)"
Cons: "Overseas flight and the seats were so tiny. I literally have bruises on my legs on the sides and on my knees from being crammed into the seat in front of me. I'm 73" tall and I couldn't even lower my tray all the way to set food and drink on it."
Cons: "the seat space just to tight not any leg room on long flight"
Pros: "It wasn’t overcrowded"
Cons: "It took 3 planes to get us out of DFW. The first 2 had mechanical problems. The third got us to Amsterdam 4 hr late. None of the overhead ser lights functioned properly. We will never Fly American again."
Pros: "Good seats with a bit more room than most planes. Very good staff onboard."
Pros: "Seats were roomy, great entertainment choices"
Cons: "we arrived and it took 15 min for a gate agent to bring the jetbridge out to the plane....sad!"
Cons: "I was traveling with the exact same size suitcase I’ve probably traveled with as a carry on for at least 50 prior flights, and the boarding agent insisted it was too large. I am a very petite woman, and so when I carry a normal size bag, it can look large by comparison to my body. Further, the flight was 1/3 empty and had plenty of overhead space even once the plane was completely boarded. I am sorely offended based on the discrimination I suggested simply because I am short of stature."
Cons: "Outdated 757. No individual entertainment. Power restricted to premium seats and was intermittent when it worked."
Pros: "The streaming entertainment was nice."
Cons: "The heat was on and even after complaining to the flight attendants, they couldn't change it. Many of us were so uncomfortable with the heat for a 5 hour flight."
Cons: "The connecting flight from philadelphia to amsterdam was cancelled by American airlines due to a faulty plane. The system auto-rebooked many passengers on the flight on a 2 connections flight to arrive in Rotterdam for the following day. This was obviously not a suitable alternative. However after hours of waiting at the gate to get a better flight, an american airlines representative was able to rebook a flight to amsterdam via london that was still not until the following evening. I had to stay in philadelphia overnight and had to find a room on my own. The flight the next day went better however I still lost a day and a half of my trip. Unfortunalely for me, the issues did not end there. There was an issue in communication with british airways; american airlines never gave them the new flight details so british airways marked me as a no show for the Rotterdam flight and cancelled my return flight. By luck i called the day before my flight back to the US since i felt something was wrong. British airways representative was able to rebook me on a similar flight for the same day. Will most likely not use this airline again for international flights"
Pros: "Plenty space due to flight not completely booked ."
Cons: "No personal choice in entertainment."
Pros: "I liked that food and entertainment was included without additional charges, even a glass of wine."
Cons: "Not too comfortable to sleep in."
Pros: "Good personnel"
Cons: "No individual video screens, no choice of movies - as if we're back in the 1990s! Unheard of for a transcontinental flight! Be sure to bring your own entertainment! Gluten Free breakfast was useless - yoghurt which I couldn't eat + underripe fruit. Be sure to bring your own!"
Cons: "Plane was SUPER old. As a result: No entertainment: Couldn't relax with a movie Limited space between chairs: Couldn't use my laptop No Wi-Fi: Couldn't work Old looks: I felt I was in a museum Obviously the plane was broken: 3 hour delay, missed parts of a wedding Good job!"
Cons: "plane does not have in seat monitors, using tablets for entertainment. Power plugs worked on and off during the flight old equipment (767) but still better than PHL-AMS 757"
Cons: "I was unable to choose my seat, so my boyfriend and I had to fly cross country on opposite ends of the plane. There was a stewardess named Karen who was so rude. She clearly was not happy to be working, never smiled, and banged on the bathroom door while I was peeing because I was "not allowed to miss the instruction video." Had I not seen it a few hours earlier, I would have waited to use the restroom. Good thing they showed the same video three times in a row."
Pros: "Not much"
Cons: "It was on American Airlines 220, not a BA carrier. No power outlets. No Wi-Fi. No individual entertainment. Cramped seating in spite of paying a premium for improved seating. Lousy food. Flying to Hong Kong on AA was much better. Never again on AA to Europe."
Pros: "We paid almost $100 each extra for our seats. For that price we should at least have had a little wiggle room. My husband is 6'4" tall and it was a pretty uncomfortable flight for him. It was American booked thru Iberia."
Cons: "The seats were quite cramped. It was a long flight to be so cramped. The flight attendants were very nice and hospitable. It was also nice to get a pillow & blanket. When we flew to China on American I was appalled that they were charging for use of them."
Cons: "Pretty much everything"
Cons: "No tvs for a long international flight. No wifi. Come on, your competitors offer much more at the same price. Not flying BA again."
Pros: "The crew was great"
Cons: "American airline serviced the flight with an extremely undersized plane that was only suitable in seat size for children. Our family of 5, including 2 children were placed each in a different location. The 2 men, average size, 5'9" were placed in window seats that required your head to be bent to the side because the wall curves over and the seat was so narrow. Everyone was hanging over each other's seat. There was no leg room. Everyone on the plane was upset and in disbelief that for 7 hours we would have to fly like that. Spending thousands of dollars, I did not expect this extremely closterphobic conditions. I would have paid extra for better seats. Not a happy customer."
Pros: "Cleanliness of plane, attitude of crew, on time"
Cons: "0600 departure. Too early."
Cons: "No TV's in back of seats (aisle TV's with poor resolution), no ac outlets, no wifi onboard. Needed to change a tire, flight was delayed 2 hrs"
Pros: "Nothing, the worse experience I've ever had on a flight from the US Never AA again!!"
Cons: "Unprofessional crew!! The safety instruction was a mess, first it was on the big screen, totally black, only sound, then the crew started a discussion in the ail if the would do the safety instructions yes or no...in the end they did it without explanation what the were doing and in 2 minutes. Al three of them just did something. Rude and chewing gum crew, the dropped a salad bowl but not one of them was thinking about cleaning it up. The entire flight everybody walked over it in to the carpet. Friendlynes and service are two words that does not apply to this crew. From the first flight till the last flight AA made a mess out of it. Canceled our flight in JFK, no help or service, you are on your own when AA cancels a flight, after rebooking our flight we had a 7 hour stopover at Dallas, again no service, no voucher, no nothing. Then today with our return flight AA could not find our ticket numbers, turns out that when they rebooked our inbound flight they forgot to take over the return flight...cost us 2 hours and 10 minutes to check in at LGA Never, ever again with AA, even easyJet provides better service then AA does on intercontinental flight!"
Pros: "Good crew"
Cons: "Very dark and hard to see entire trip Overhead lights too bright and aimed at odd angle"
Pros: "The Spanish staff were nice."
Cons: "Air plain was old."
Pros: "Excellent. See above."
Pros: "Nice crew"
Cons: "Old aircraft with issues"
Pros: "Glad AA offers a direct flight from Philly to Amsterdam."
Cons: "The flight left over two hours late, for reasons never provided. We were not alerted until after I arrived at the airport (thanks for the timely email, AA). I also dislike having to pay extra for a seat after I've already paid for the ticket!"
Cons: "Plane needed to be updated. CRT TVs still? More space in seating for such a long duration flight. Head rests that don't rise more than a few centimeter. What's the point then?"
