Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "aircraft was new, clean, and with many new amenities that are appreciated - device charging, Internet access. The crew was great."
Cons: "The seats are tough after a few hours of siting. Children screamed throughout the flight. To the crews credit, they recognized the issue, and suggested a move to empty seats. However, there was a screaming and coughing child behind these seats also. Perhaps grouping families to a section would help?"
Pros: "The usual efficient, friendly WestJet crew. Nice to fly in one of the new Dreamliner. Super smooth landing."
Cons: "Minor point. They boarded the plane very early. We got to the gate 1/2 hour before departure, and were almost the last ones to board."
Pros: "Didn't see much of crew. Food was crazy expensive for what it was."
Cons: "Better food for price, or an option to pre-book a proper meal at time of buying ticket. Plane was cold and no blankets."
Pros: "The plane was nice and quiet, and the crew was lovely."
Cons: "It was so cold!!"
Pros: "I did not make it on the flight as the time was given was 5:35 and the flight left at 4:00."
Cons: "I was not given correct information and being a very novice traveller did not check the information."
Pros: "Crew were very caring. Seats were OK"
Cons: "Tv in the seat to make the long flight pass more quickly."
Pros: "Boarding was easy, crew was pretty friendly and we reached London an hour early which was brilliant."
Cons: "Maybe let us know in advance that there's no TV's in the plane, or meals. Leg room for someone who's 6'4" is non existent, especially when the person in front of you puts their seat back."
Pros: "Comfort, timing. Customer Service!"
Cons: "Technically problems with lightning on board."
Pros: "i was pretty comfortable being in an aisle seat"
Cons: "didn’t love the lights coming on in the middle of the night"
Pros: "Crew were great, service was spot on."
Cons: "Plane was old, seat didn't recline, no tv screens in front of seats, temperature was freezing (but in fairness I was at the emergency exit) and worst of all NO MEAL?? ON A NINE HOUR FLIGHT? Arrived very hungry."
Pros: "Boarding went well. Although it was a full flight, they asked for volunteers to check in hand luggage (free of charge) I did, trying to help. But once I picked up my luggage and got to destination point, I noticed that 2 small items (gifts for family) had been pilfered. Not happy and will not volunteer to help again."
Cons: "No food on plane, no entertainment,( unless you download the app) Above pilfered items"
Pros: "Neriande (who issued the boarding passes & took checked bags) and her colleague At the check in desk were amazing - actually going behind the scenes to find a gate checked bag that had been wrongly named and was headed for Toronto when we were headed to LONDON GATWICK"
Cons: "Faulty weather radar on a stormy evening cancelled our WestJet PREMIUM ECONOMY flight. After deplaning and waiting for all passengers without checked bags to be rebooked, we eventually were on our way by car from LGA to JFK airport to meet a British Airways ECONOMY flight with only minutes to spare"
Cons: "The food was extremely mediocre for an $18 meal."
Pros: "Friendly and helpful staff. Boarded and got off quickly. Clean airplane."
Cons: "I felt cramped in my emergency exit seat, especially having a larger size person sit next to me. My seat was not comfortable. Being tall provides no advantages on westjet. Had to look down at my phone the whole time for entertainment, neck hurt. Wont fly again"
Pros: "The low cost"
Cons: "That which comes with low cost, you get what you pay for"
Cons: "24 hour delay in Calgary because of maintenance problems with the plane. Meant I lost one precious day while visiting my 91 year old mother."
Pros: "Embarkation staff were helpful"
Cons: "No better than AC Rouge which I deplore"
Pros: "Loved WestJet! They are the best airline, always super friendly"
Pros: "Great staff. Fast boarding and deplaning."
Pros: "Hi. I actually am glad that the company is following up because I was having a hard time finding an email to contact. I actually came to kayak to book my ticket for Friday to go to London however when I got to the airport it says it was for Monday. Because I had to be at London the next day for a wedding i had to buy another ticket for almost 1000. I also couldn’t contact u so I’m emailing now. I didn’t get on the plane for west jet because I am already in London. I also have a screen shot that shows me that my flight details were for Friday however another email shows me that it’s for Monday. Even the workers at th airport were confused and felt strongly bad for me. I would like a full refund as well. Thank you. Please contact back. 416806-6530 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org"
Cons: "Our original flight was cancelled due to WestJet reasons (plane was not safe to fly) the following evening the flight was supposed to depart at 7pm we didn’t take off until 10:37 pm causing an arrival of 940AM into London instead of 7:23AM primarily because the crew they chose for this new flight was coming from Montreal so we had to wait for them to arrive."
Pros: "Staff was good"
Pros: "Crew was friendly."
Cons: "Lack of maintenance. Seats did not recline, seat in front of me was broken. No reading lights available. One washroom became inoperable. Just showing a lack of maintenance or cost saving measures until new planes are delivered. Not a great impression for a carrier striving to compete against Air Canada. I would say they are competing with Air Transat."
Cons: "Big 4 hour delay caused that we missed another flight in London"
Cons: "We couldn't take the flight as Westjet could not get us there on time and would not hold the flight ...... see above"
Pros: "The flight was not cancelled in spite of poor weather"
Cons: "Flight on tarmac for 2 hours after loading passengers no word regularly from pilots or anyone for a long time. Baggage loading and no accountability for huge delays for lost luggage containers? Who is the logistics team? This is not the first time westjet has provided poor service on their international flights. Training if ground staff onsystems is poor. He guest services at tronto openly claimed they did lot know how to operate certain screens for transactions."
Pros: "We survived"
Cons: "On an 8 hour flight there’s no complimentary meal. I paid for a meal and it was worse than free plane food and starved for the rest of the trip. The chairs were horribly uncomfortable with no lower back support and we were not even given pillows and blankets. There was also no free entertainment. I rented a tablet and had it taken away an hour before landing while I was in the middle of a movie. I might have been ok with that if the flight attendant had politely asked for it back rather than rudely waving and pointing while I stared at her blankly trying to figure out what she wanted. Next time I’ll pay a bit more for an airline that respects its passengers and our comfort."
Pros: "I was traveling with my 11 month old daughter and everyone went out of their way to assist us and I didn't feel like a burden to them. When she was sleeping on my lap during the flight they even brought me my meal in portions so I didn't have a huge tray to balance over my baby."
Cons: "Everything was great"
Pros: "Excellent Flight to London"
Cons: "Typical Econofare - pay piece meal for everything including a checked bag."
Pros: "Free upgrade and gate check!"
Cons: "No checked bags or meals for economy passengers"
Pros: "The flight attendants where really nice and so was the service wouldn't change a thing here."
Cons: "I didn't like that someone was reclining in there seat in front of me and it was so far down that it was uncomfortable even to sit in my seat or get to my table. Also was very disappointed that I had to pay for food even though it was way over 8 hours, in the end didn't even bother about food was not much of a choice. Also no TV on this long haul flight was really disappointed again, so I had to pay for a tablet was hugely disappointed. Needed more leg room was cramped on this flight."
Cons: "My ticket/reservation was not found by WestJet. I had to buy a new ticket. Flight Network or Emirates screwed up. I will need you and them to reemburse me. Please investigate."
Pros: "Landed 10 minutes early. Good landing in tough conditions"
Pros: "Very cheerful and friendly crew. Made the journey very enjoyable."
Pros: "Basics of chips or pretzels as one food offering"
Pros: "Friendly, polite crew. Well organized boarding"
Pros: "Only problem is my flight didnt have screens and you had to pay for a tablet. I get screens on my flights to Edmonton and Sask for work with Westjet all the time but on a long flight to London they're majorly lacking. A basic meal over a 9.5 hour flight should be included as well."
Cons: "1 for usb charging ports though. I still love Westjet but different priorities for International flights should a no brainer."
Pros: "Helpful polite staff. Many great movies and tv shows to select from."
Cons: "Trying to sleep in an uncomfortable, small, non reclining seat."
Pros: "The flight is decently cheap"
Cons: "Everything else is not really pleasant for a long distance travel. I've never felt more uncomfortable in my life during a flight. But i suppose you get what you paid for."
Pros: "food was good"
Cons: "Delays in connection flight, arrival gate and departure are far away and no help from airlines."
Pros: "After our horrendous flight to America with Norwegian (never again!!!) it was refreshing to have some space and the staff was friendly"
Cons: "lnternet was very expensive ($4-5 for 30 minutes, so l did not bother) no entertainment whatsoever, but okay for a budget flight during the night"
Pros: "When they fixed the aircraft it was overcrowded but okay"
Cons: "Their dishonesty. We were delayed 25hours. I am out of pocket by several hundreds of pounds. Two months later they have still not compensated me. yet the Canadians that were on the fight have been reimbursed. The message is loud and clear if you are British do not fly West Jet"
Cons: "You have to download an app to watch movies/tv. There is no food served (transatlantic flight!) unless purchased 48 hours beforehand."
Pros: "Brought our own sandwiches.."
Cons: "We were invited to send our carry iron bags to the hold at the gate. We delivered them to the plane door on the jetway. My wife's bag didn't make it from Edmonton to London Gatwick. That's the last time I send anything to the hold ."
Cons: "Plane needs to be upgraded, don't charge for meals or baggage"
Pros: "Very helpful! Very enjoyable flight, I was worried about my bags fitting as I took a 46L backpacking bag with me but it rit great and staff was so nice!"
Pros: "the price"
Cons: "they left late"
