In flight entertainment was good, except when the maps stopped working. The female flight attendant was very nice. . Both professional and courteous however not true for the male attendant. He was cold and not polite at all. I felt that he didn’t enjoy his job; he should leave United and find another profession.

After being so delayed on our first flight from San Francisco, I was nervous about getting to our connecting flight in Houston. We were assured by the flight attendant that when a flight is delayed and has connections, they communicate that to the gates and we would be fine. It was the OPPOSITE of fine. We landed with 10 minutes until the flight to Costa Rica left and they let all of us who were connecting deplane first, only to run full speed to a gate who’s plane left 10 minutes EARLY and decided that it was not going to wait for the 12+ passenagers who had no control of the delayed flight. My fiancé and I were flying to our WEDDING. So now I’m sitting here in Houston for a full 24 hours waiting for the next flight to take me to my wedding. The only “accommodation” united airlines gave us was a hotel. No compensation for the night we paid for at our resort in Costa Rica that we are missing, no upgrades to a better class on our new flight and no reassurance on how terrible they feel for this giant and heartbreaking inconvenience. I am furious.

I liked that I knew in advance to download the United app so I could actually watch a movie!! This was the second leg of the trip, and I didn’t know this the first flight and couldn’t use the United entertainment.

An hour and half layover is fine, but add an3 hour delay on top of that, Kinda stunk. But hey, me and all my bags made it this trip!

There was a horrid family in the row in frony of me that absolutley refused to control their child at all, even when airline staff stepped in , so a really long flight was made to seem even longer and sleeping was out of the question.

In-flight crew

Our luggage was trashed. Brand new luggage was broken with holes in the side and wheels missing. This was not cheap luggage this was 10 year warranty luggage but how do you collect on a warranty when you’re in a foreign country? So had to buy new luggage for the trip home. We’ll see if it survives their lame baggage handling.

Friendly, attentive staff. Good service. My toddler, husband and I boarded first because of our child, so we had plenty of time to get comfy on the plane. The flight attendants served sufficient drinks and snacks for the 1 hour flight.

Flight was delayed two hours so my toddler and I had significantly longer to wait, which is not too fun. However, I understand this is unavoidable sometimes.

i couldn't get my seat before the flight. Coouldn't even find out it was on American airline. So I couldn't get gluten free meal for any of the legs of my journey and I have celiac's disease. A real problem!!!!!

1. Boarding and un-boarding should be by bridge, especially in sub-freezing weather! What is China Southern's problem with this? Every boarding/unboarding has always been by bus, and we had to be exposed to the elements. Since we were traveling between two warm places, we were not prepared to be out in freezing weather. 2. Layover in CAN was terrible: It was too long (10 hours); Guangzhou Baiyun had NO HEAT and so was very cold, too few charging stations, and very spotty wi-fi. I could not use my credit card in at least one place. At a McDonalds (probably a knock-off actually), the cashier was quite rude, allowing native Chinese customers to cut in line in front of me and unapologetic with their "no-credit-cards" policy. Customer service personnel need better training in international relations.

Flight went quicker than expected.

China southern management completely botched the handling of this flight. Mechanical issue turned into a 6+ hour delay. Passengers given no updates. Held on plane for 4 of those hours without updates. Toilets were not flushing and reeked the interior cabin. Passengers wanted to leave and get hotel accommodations but were not given such options and were trapped on plane. Passengers began confronting and arguing with flight stewards. Still no updates from captain during whole ordeal. People were very agitated and trust was lost as flight attendants seemingly forced passengers back into their seats abruptly. Some left plane due to feeling unsafe to fly.

I had problems rebooking , they made multiply mistakes costing ME over 300 dollars cad ... very upset , flight was cancelled, they didn’t pay for my hotel .. worst experience.. flying with west jet next time

The plain had been siting at the gate when I arrived 1.5 hours early...trouble was the flight crew did not show up on time. the flight left 2 hours and 45 minutes late. Even after we all boarded, they made an announcement that we were ready to go, but still needed a pilot. If I was this late, I'd be in serious trouble.

How on earth did my i arrived lagos and only one out of my two bags showed up, i have to extend my stay in lagos and hoping my bag will come the next day, i have to pay $100 extra just to extend my one night hotel booking to two nights.

Plain and Simple Awful , Horrible and Disgusting Airline

A day after the NYC snow storm I dropped off my daughter to the airport. At checked in they said the flight was living 2 hours late off the scheduled time...few hours later the departure time was changed and so was the gate number.....they kept on changing the departure time and gate number..... the staff simply were SO INCOMPETENT and Just kept on saying CALL THE CUSTOMER SERVICE...WHICH IS IN CHINA.... they Have ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE.... and once you speak to a Person to simply kept on PASSING The Buck.... THE DELAY WEnt on for 17 HRs without real explanation and when they were finally ready to board the plane “FLIGHT CZ300 had an accident so the flight was canceled “ ..,, It has been a week and this Airline is still giving us a run around as to where our luggages was.... NOBODY KNOWS IN THIS COMPANY and they just kept on transferring us .... VERY INCOMPETENT and THIS Airline treated the passengers like Shit.... SO , Stay Away! DO NOT LET THE LOW FARE FOOL You! THEY are Horrible! THIS AIRLINE has no sense of Accountability and Transparency.

regular meals, decent inflight programming

Service can be very erratic. On both long-haul CSA flights I took, attendants spoke poor English, which was surprising given the route. This is a perfectly OK airline for the price. You get what you pay for, in a way. But if anything drifts from the original plan, you're screwed. On Thurs Jan 4 we were diverted to Chicago due to bad weather. CSA has ZERO ground presence at Ohare. They gave us poorly-worded, vague instructions while still on board the aircraft for how to proceed once we disembarked-- and then their crew went off to hotels and rested, while most of the passengers stood stranded and confused in the airport terminal with NO assistance whatsoever. We were NEVER formally told when to reboard, or when our flight might take off again for JFK. We were NEVER told what kind of arrangements would be available for passengers to rest and recover-- and we landed around midnight, mind you. Passengers shared info with one another that they gleaned from 3rd party websites-- we all helped each other out, because CSA was useless. I recognize that it was an unusual situation due to extreme weather but it was indicative of the kind of customer service one can expect. Which is, not much.

The only person who who tried to relax customers waiting to board was the pilot. Flight was delayed. No updates on monitors, no crew at desk. The pilot was first to arrive and had no information but was engaging and joked with all the passengers just standing around. He was our only assurance that flight was still going. He had same attitude on the plane and seemed determined to get us home eventually.

No communication from airline. The flight was delayed but we only find out because we show up to gate and nobody is there. No counter agents. When they eventually show up, there is no explanation. Just acted like everything was normal.

Layover in CAN was terrible: It was too long (10 hours); Guangzhou Baiyun had NO HEAT and so was very cold, too few charging stations, and very spotty wi-fi. I could not use my credit card in at least one place. At a McDonalds (probably a knock-off actually), the cashier was quite rude, allowing native Chinese customers to cut in line in front of me and unapologetic with their "no-credit-cards" policy. Customer service personnel need better training in international relations.

We were left on the plane for over 6 hours without taking off before a 13 hour flight. The captain only came on the intercom once. All he said at that time was "sorry for the delay,";no explanation. The flight attendance kept saying 20 mins. The captain locked the crew door so the crew also had no idea what was going on. The 6+hour delay wasn't the problem. Things happen. The problem was the non existing communication. I read the the regulations for delays like that on their website and it stated that after 4 hours they have to give us the option to get off the plane. That didn't happen until 30 mins before we took off. It also stated that the captain needs to keep us updated every 30 mins. That again, didn't happen. People were hysterical, for obvious reasons. Ithe was the worst flight I have ever taken.

Flight went quicker than expected.

China southern management completely botched the handling of this flight. Mechanical issue turned into a 6+ hour delay. Passengers given no updates. Held on plane for 4 of those hours without updates. Toilets were not flushing and reeked the interior cabin. Passengers wanted to leave and get hotel accommodations but were not given such options and were trapped on plane. Passengers began confronting and arguing with flight stewards. Still no updates from captain during whole ordeal. People were very agitated and trust was lost as flight attendants seemingly forced passengers back into their seats abruptly. Some left plane due to feeling unsafe to fly.

After being so delayed on our first flight from San Francisco, I was nervous about getting to our connecting flight in Houston. We were assured by the flight attendant that when a flight is delayed and has connections, they communicate that to the gates and we would be fine. It was the OPPOSITE of fine. We landed with 10 minutes until the flight to Costa Rica left and they let all of us who were connecting deplane first, only to run full speed to a gate who’s plane left 10 minutes EARLY and decided that it was not going to wait for the 12+ passenagers who had no control of the delayed flight. My fiancé and I were flying to our WEDDING. So now I’m sitting here in Houston for a full 24 hours waiting for the next flight to take me to my wedding. The only “accommodation” united airlines gave us was a hotel. No compensation for the night we paid for at our resort in Costa Rica that we are missing, no upgrades to a better class on our new flight and no reassurance on how terrible they feel for this giant and heartbreaking inconvenience. I am furious.

I didn’t like anything

I had problems rebooking , they made multiply mistakes costing ME over 300 dollars cad ... very upset , flight was cancelled, they didn’t pay for my hotel .. worst experience.. flying with west jet next time

The only person who who tried to relax customers waiting to board was the pilot. Flight was delayed. No updates on monitors, no crew at desk. The pilot was first to arrive and had no information but was engaging and joked with all the passengers just standing around. He was our only assurance that flight was still going. He had same attitude on the plane and seemed determined to get us home eventually.

No communication from airline. The flight was delayed but we only find out because we show up to gate and nobody is there. No counter agents. When they eventually show up, there is no explanation. Just acted like everything was normal.

I had planned for up to 3 hours of issues (delays, traffic, luggage issues, etc.) and it was still not enough to allow me to make my meeting on time. Additionally, the in-flight entertainment system linked to my seat was defective and only provided sound in one ear.
