FAQs - booking Italy flights

  • Which travel documents will I need to be allowed into Italy?

Fortunately, US citizens are not required to have a visa when flying to Italy since it is part of the Schengen Area. This means that the only mandatory travel document you will need to be allowed into Italy is your passport which should be valid for at least three months after your planned return to the US and have at least two blank pages for immigration stamps.

  • Where can I exchange currency at FCO Airport?

As soon as you land in Rome, you will need to change some of your US Dollars to Euros so that you can transact much more easily while in the country. Unfortunately, there aren’t too many currency exchanges at FCO since most banks located at the airport don’t offer foreign exchange services. However, you can still exchange your currency from The Foreign Exchange Desk in the arrivals area past baggage claim.

  • How do I get from FCO to the city center?

The most convenient way to get from the airport to the city center would be via a cab or hire a rental car. Both are easily available at the airport and will take you to any destination in the city. The downside is that they are both relatively expensive, especially when compared to public transport. If you want to save a few coins, taking the train from the airport to Rome is a great way to do so.

  • What are the most popular layover options on this route?

There are several options when it comes to the choice of a layover for flights running from Cleveland to Italy. Each airline has its preferred city or airport for a layover, so you should be careful when choosing an airline to fly with so that you can get a favorable layover in terms of visa requirements. Some of the most popular layover options on this route include Chicago, London, Munich and New York.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from Cleveland to Italy?

KAYAK is a travel search engine. That means we look across the web to find the best prices we can find for our users. With over 2 billion flight queries processed yearly, we are able to display a variety of prices and options on flights from Cleveland to Italy.

  • How does KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy my flight ticket from Cleveland to Italy?

KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool uses historical data to determine whether the price for a flight from Cleveland to Italy is likely to change within 7 days, so travelers know whether to wait or book now.

  • What is the Hacker Fare option on flights from Cleveland to Italy?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional round-trip ticket. You could then fly from Cleveland to Italy with an airline and back with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from Cleveland to Italy?

Sometimes travel dates aren't set in stone. If your preferred travel dates have some wiggle room, flexible dates will show you all the options when flying from Cleveland to Italy up to 3 days before/after your preferred dates. You can then pick the flights that suit you best.

  • What is the cheapest time of day to fly to Italy?

The cheapest time of day to fly to Italy is generally in the morning, when round-trip flights cost $1,049 on average. Morning departures are around 18% cheaper than evening flights, on average. Top tips for finding cheap flights to Italy

  • When flying to Italy from outside Europe, you should consider booking a flight that lands at Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (FCO) or Rome Fiumicino, as it is also referred to. This is the main international airport in the country’s capital and, therefore, an ideal place to land since it is centrally located, thus providing you with easy access to other cities all over Italy.
  • Flights from Cleveland to Europe mainly depart from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE). To get to downtown Cleveland's airport, you can take a taxi from any destination or use the metro from Tower City Center.
  • If you’re looking for cheaper tickets from Cleveland to Italy, you should try and be more flexible with your travel dates. For example, avoid traveling on high-demand days such as weekends and holidays. You can also get cheaper tickets by booking connecting flights instead of a direct flight.
  • While animals are allowed at CLE Airport, there are certain regulations you need to follow. For instance, service animals must always be on a leash, while pets should be kept in their carriers throughout.
  • If you need wheelchair assistance while at CLE Airport, please ensure that you inform your airline or travel agent at least 48 hours before the departure time. This should give them ample time to make the necessary arrangements on your behalf.

From Atlanta to Savannah - flight connection was way to short (we weren't even late landing ) and flight was already boarding when we landed - we were told we were the last on board and so we had to gate check our bags. Once we got on the plane, there were at least seven open bag spots so that was unnecessary delay. There should be better communication between the gate agent and the crew.

Crew was excellent. Comfort seats not as nice as other kinds of planes.

Not a "Delta" issue, but a JFK issue: We booked a connecting flight with 3 1/2 hours between to clearn immigration and customs. Our inbound flight (BCN to JFK) was on the taxiway 45 minutes which ate into our layover time. Immigtration was insanely quick with the CBP MPC app; however, clearing TSA (again, after we were ALREADY cleared in Spain on the inbound international flight) took over 95 minutes. This left us with 10 minutes before boarding the connecting flight (JFK to SAN) to walk to the far end of Terminal 4 and try to find food. We didn't find any food that could promise to serve us in under 10 minutes so we boarded the Delta flight after coming off a plance and an 8-hour flight knowing that we wouldn't be served any food on the next 5 1/2 hour flight. I feel like Delta needs to put pressure on the JFK TSA to open more screening stations (by our count, we saw only 5 scanners open and a line of - as we said - over 90 minutes. The insult is that we WERE ALREADY SCREENED through TSA, but as you come off one flight into the USA, you have to go through the whole process again. It seems like if you have a connecting flight, there should be a way to pass through immigration and customs without needing to return through TSA.

It was a great flight and the stewards and stewardess were all kind and accommodating!! The seats were comfortable and entertainment screen excellent!

There are 4 flights in consecutive gates with about the same departure time. Two flights were boarding at the same time. One was delayed or boarding would be happening at the same time. I am not sure what Delta and LAX need to do to have a better layout at the end of Terminal 2

Flight was an hour late, who knows why. It was OK, nothing outstanding.

Only not having an assigned seat was an issue. Rest was great

There was a security issue at the airport and we were unable to land. We circled endlessly and then landed at another airfield for fuel. We then circled the airport again, almost landed but didn’t fully touch down before circling again. I am thankful to the crew for keeping us safe- the issue was the airline and staff at the airport getting us seats on our connecting flights. That part was hours of searching for someone and getting in double my steps.

Boarding was organised and relaxed. Crew were fantastic! Seats were lacking padding causing butt pain and stiffness.

I like for how they process during check in. It was very smoothly.

Although the flight was delayed the crew and the flight itself were very good. Couldn't fault anything and after the disappointment of being abandoned in the US by BA it was a welcome relief to travel with United

Survey sent before we actually left. Delay after delay. Now a crew problem.

I love flying with United. Unfortunately, I flew on an older plane with minimal upgraded technology (no Bluetooth functionality or handy charging ports). Otherwise, the flight was great and even arrived early.

They changed my seats after I checked in and I was stressed from the time I saw that information until just before boarding, when the gate attendant fixed it, but it shouldn't have happened. And if it couldn't be prevented, then the people on the phone I spoke with should have done something to help, which they did not, nor did they offer me compensation, just meaningless apologies.

online check in was not available so i had to get to airport extra early. The flight was delayed and my luggage was lost. I had an argument with the person behind me who wanted to keep her bag on the floor and not allow my seat to recline on a 9hr plus flight. So overall, lots and lots of areas for improvement.

Horrific. They missed my connecting flight to San Diego. I didn’t get there until Monday at 9am when I had a mandatory court settlement conference scheduled at 6am since we had parties on the east coast. This caused many issues. All because United apparently forgot to hold the doors open until my flight landed that only had a 10 minute delay. This was the last flight to Southern California. So I couldn’t even rent a car to finish the trip. United cannot be trusted when traveling on specific days and times since weather didn’t have anything to do with the delays.

My flight was delayed a very short period of time but they did not hold my connecting flight to San Diego, also through United. So they closed the doors before we got off our plane. They would only have to help the door open for another five to ten minutes. So I missed a court deadline for a manditory mediation settlement conference for my client. I had to get an associate to be there in person and be on the phone with him relaying what he needs to do the entire time. The court was very upset with me and so was my client. United cannot be trusted.

Very rough getting into denver. my kid threw up it was so rough.

We were given vouchers we couldn’t use with a 5.5 hour delay

Cramped seat even in economy plus seat 10A. Over booked flight, no space for the bags

The flight delay in Dallas created a domino effect that impacted all of the connecting flights. It also increased the number of connections. I missed my flight from Casablanca to Marrakech because of the tight turnaround when landing in Casablanca. . CMN airport was understaffed. Only one person could help while other employees were just watching him. It was an extremely frustrating situation. People were crying and slamming their palms on the counter when speaking to the customer service provider, Allabough (man’s name?). Allabough couldn’t change my flight in the system. simultaneously, I was on the call with America. Airlines customer service rep named Solomon that said he couldn’t change it either. So, I took a ONYA voyages train to from Casablanca to Marrakech to get there on Friday June 26. This was unpredictable trip.

The flight was fine and the crew awesome. The problem is ORD and AA. Computers went down, ORD fell apart and a 40 min flight turned into a 3 hour trip. Guess the answer is to not try and fly to ORD after noon. But, as I said, crew was awesome and did everything they could to lesson the flight time.

Almost a 6 hour flight and the only food option is a cheese plate… and chips. Also how is it there are no options for texting on American. I’ll be going back to delta and united.

This flight never occurred because AA couldn’t get their act together.

Terrible. Cancelled my original flight. It made getting a boarding pass difficult. The AA employee (in a loud voice, so everyone around could hear) griped at me for not getting a boarding pass 24 hours before. I asked how I was supposed to do that when I had no idea what flight I was going to be on. She said (loudly), “Talk to AA customer service, not me!” I could certainly tell serving customers was not important to her. Our new flight was set to a completely different city. We had to change our rental car, and the price went way up. It took 2-1/2 hours to get checked in. By then our new flight had left. We ended up on stand by and had to split up the family to get to our destination. It cost us the whole first day of the trip. AA needs to employ people who actually care about doing a good job. I suppose those people are getting harder to find, but atleast try.

Am still mad at American airlines. You should know it's us travel nurses who are your customers and you treat us like nonsense it's not ok. American airlines took my money, no refund for whatsoever. A trip that was of 466 and I paid 466 and 833 then they chose for me where to sit and refund my seat choices and gave me expensive seats for 79 USD. Kayak doesn't help at all after booking you are on your own. Skyscanner is better

Bad food, small seats that didn’t recline. I thought I was buying a quantas ticket so I feel like I got scammed

This was a horrible experience. For a first class experience, my chair was held together by 3M tape - and I have a photo. The crew weren’t very attentive, somewhat dismissive and forgot my drink and snack, the chair reclined about 3 inches on a 6-hour cross country flight. I was also not informed that there was no lounge available in Newark airport because of renovations, so all around this was one of the worst experiences and I would actively avoid both American and Alaska Air going forward.

The flight was fine but the 8 hour delay in Chicago was awful - 5 gate changes and repeated delays without an explanation. No vouchers. Nothing.

The check in process at CDG was absolutely unacceptable. We arrived to the airport 3 hours and 20 minutes before our departure time, waited in line for 1 hour and 30 minutes to check in (despite having checked in online and only needing to check a bag), then were forced to check all of our rolling luggage despite the fact that all were compliant with carry-on requirements. The staff at the desk were rude and there were only two desks open, while eight people were working. The check in desk wasn’t even opened on time (3 hours prior to departure) and there was no communication about when it would open or why there was a delay. We feared missing our flight because the departure board was not updated, so rushed to our gate to board once we were through security because it was 20 minutes prior to departure, only to wait another 30 minutes before boarding even started. Communication was lacking throughout the process. What a horrible end to our trip.

Seats were less comfortable and tight from Newark to Dublin, than my second flight ( small segment from Dublin to Lyon). Movie audio was with frying sound overall. Yet the worst was as follows: one male, (dark hair , glasses on) from the crew member was so cold and rough, while I remained with constancy polite and kind. Per exple with the noise level I could not hear him at first for beverages, he rolled his eyes at the third times I finally heard him. From the start, loading my small hand bags , he directly spoke to me and said “ I had to keep my shopping bad by my seat, under , while there was sufficient room and I was among the last to sit. I show him the space , his face was always dull, stoic, not welcoming as the usual crew members from any airline companies are. When I think of my experience I liard w Aer Lingus, this is the image that gets back to me. Needless to say that as a passenger and client, I felt belittled since all this happened in front of the surrendering passengers. It s an affront and not a pleasant feeling especially when being traveling which oftentimes involves stress with carrying, and making it on time. I m not happy with the experience I had to be honest and I fly four times a year. Thank you for allowing me to share this statement with your company.

The seat spacing was good. The food, not so good... typical airline food. 😕

One cold drinks service. No snacks with drinks. No tomato juice or apple juice, coke - only fanta or sprite then ran out of that. Went to gally after meal service no one there / no self service for water at least. Waited 25 min for cabin crew to assist. No recycling of cardboard/ plastic - all put to garbage. Breakfast was a nutrigrain bar and an orange juice. Also I'm sure I booked a flight with checked luggage allowance but had to buy extra when I had my booking confirmation. Movies were good. Chairs comfy. Pillow and blanket and ac vents.

At check-in the unmanned machines said QR code was invalid so had to queue for over an hour to check in bags

There was no room in the seats, smallest room we've ever had and the food was awful.

I dont fly them much anymore. Other carries offere better pricing and better seating options

The Glasgow to Dublin route was very efficiently boarded, flight and landing and disembarkation were all super smooth. Dublin to JFK flight I was very pleasantly surprised overall. This was my first time on Aer Lingus and having already come off the short regional flight I was curious to know how the international flight would go. Aircraft was solid, entertainment options were better than expected, flight crew were experienced and operated like clockwork. Main entree left a little something to be desired but the snack was very tasty. Boarding and disembarkation again very smooth and pilots got us in earlier than expected. Would definitely fly again

Unfortunately the flight was delayed for 50 min. Just as we were about to board so that was a drag. The boarding was average. The bag check in process was new to us and efficient. And the flight itself was smooth- basically no turbulence.

I liked how they looked after couples by providing a row of 4 seats if available.

Flight was great only departure was delayed to saome ground crew issues

It was freezing. I asked crew member for a blanket and was told it might be in front of plane but I never got one. I turned off all the vents but still froze.

Cheapest airlines I have ever been on. I got downgraded and never got on united. I got rerouted through Vancouver onto jetwesf

Flight was 1.5 hours late to depart so changed flights to Swiss Air.

The United Airlines crew that operated this flight was subpar. They didn’t

Very small and uncomfortable seats, Hard to hear entertainment system sound. Horrible food. Staff doesn't care much about the passengers. 2nd time they didn't give me my vegetarian meal. They asked me regular food with meat. The airline and staff was from United airlines.

Checkin took along timen only.few angents available at.checkin desk. Customer support over phone no existence

At baggage claim, I was given the wrong printed ticket. The ticket belonged to another passenger for a different flight — to Zurich instead of Frankfurt (layover). I was even allowed to pass security, and when I asked the Lufthansa employee if I was on the correct flight, and why it was changed. The employee said everything was correct and I should board. When I got on the plane, there was someone in my seat, and the crew on the plane finally realized that I was on the wrong plane. When I got off the plane, nobody was willing to help, and the security refused to provide my original printed ticket. That was until I showed them that I took a photo of the ticket; once they realized I had photographic evidence, they were suddenly ready to help me. The Lufthansa employee began communicating with other airlines and found a flight that would take me to my destination via Polish Airlines. I was required to once again go through security, re-check my bag, and once again pay for my checked bag and weight overage fees. This experience was incredibly stressful and very frustrating, as you can imagine. A Lufthansa employee told me I would be eligible for a refund. Please tell me what steps I need to take in order to make that happen. Thank you!

Boarding and flight update was fantastic as I experienced about a 10-15 delayed for both flights. The food served onboard was great; the service of the flight attendants was excellent.

The row of seats were so cramped it was difficult to get in and out of your seat. I even upgraded. A long flight and sad accommodations 😵‍💫 the shorter flight was very comfortable and the seating was spacious
