Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews

Pros: "Super respctful"
Pros: "Great crew."
Cons: "Food, at least for first class."
Cons: "Assigning seats at check in? Why was that a thing? Also why did we have to wait for almost an hour once we landed to be given a gate for us to unload? So stupid the whole thing."
Pros: "pilot was great... made the landing at key west seem easy!"
Cons: "Flight attendants seemed to really like their jobs!"
Cons: "The Delta flight leaving Cleveland was a hour and a half late so we could not make our connection to get home and had to overnight in Minneapolis. This is the fourth time in six flights For Delta. I think the Kayak booking algorithm needs to allow more time between connecting flights."
Pros: "Quick boarding and great with accommodating my request for a window seat."
Cons: "Offer in flight entertainment."
Pros: "The crew was amazing this round I got good seats"
Cons: "Forgot my earphones so I had to read a book. I never asked nor did I see earphones"
Pros: "Crew was great."
Cons: "When all overhead bins were full, they should have allowed those who didn’t need to check their carry on to board the plane before those who needed to check their carry on. Very unorganized at gate."
Pros: "The ceew"
Cons: "Unorganized boarding and 6 hour delay from expected departure time."

Pros: "Flight was good. Left on time. Crew was attentive."
Cons: "Did not assign seat at check in. Had to go to gate and check in. Staff handled it well, but it was inefficient. Wasted time dealing with it."
Pros: "Two ladies working in the aisles were very pleasant and nice"
Cons: "Takeoff accelerated too much... nicer to have a longer launch process"
Pros: "Efficient on board crew"
Cons: "Ground crew caused delay for unknown reason"
Pros: "The crew is always wonderful. The complimentary beverage and snack really makes the flight better, even in the tiny seats. The flights with tv screens and charging ports are great, although they only seem to be on my shorter of the two connecting flights."
Cons: "Crew allows the first zones to place both their carryon and personal items in overhead storage, filling the bins before many travelers board the plane. We are then asked to check our bag, and are forced to put our 1 bag between our legs, whole many people stored two overhead. Flight was delayed a few minutes and time was not made up in air. Delta changed a few of our flights before we were even off the plane, while other passengers were allowed to keep their original flight (originally we all had the same connecting flight). Looks to me like they overbooked and pulled some of us randomly. Also, my checked bag was sent on wrong plane, and sat unattended at next airport for 2 hours."
Pros: "everiding si so good thanks this is my 2nd time lovet"
Cons: "so organais tritment so good everiding lovet"
Cons: "The worst"
Pros: "Short trip"
Cons: "Very hot ride"
Cons: "My seat was in the last row on an MD88 where the engines are in the tail fin. Felt like I had a washing machine with a bag of rocks in it next to my head the whole flight. The intercom system also had a gnarly hum/screech when the attendants we're talking so you could barely hear them."
Pros: "Flight was nice"
Cons: "Boarding was slow because boarding is done poorly"
Pros: "Despite small aircraft, boarding was fast and easy. On time departure and arrival. And quite clean aircraft despite a very fast turnaround. And Biscoff!!!! Delta's free wifi for messaging is a nice touch, as is free in-flight video. In-flight music would be nice, too. Doesn't hurt to ask :)"
Pros: "On time. Most important"
Pros: "We were treated very well and it was a short, sweet flight. Nothing to complain about."
Cons: "Missed our connection due to a 30 flight delay because crew duty day and crew rest and had to rebook on a later flight on the same day. Downgraded from first class by the airline without any compensation."
Pros: "Seats are comfortable. These short haul flights often have worn out, painful seats."
Cons: "They do a bad job of screening people with bags too large for the overhead bins and then those people have to check one they have already tried to board and it slow things down."
Pros: "Delta was so accommodating"
Pros: "- usb abd 110v charging ports on the seat backs - in-flight entertainment system for all passengers - comfy seats and adequate legroom in basic econ."
Cons: "- zone 1-5 boarding does not make for good logic - should board all window seat passengers first, then all middle seaters, and finally all aisle sear passengers"
Pros: "I liked that Delta gave me quick alternative flights and was able to switch at no charge to another flight using their app. I was traveling with my 12 year son and they were accommodating in seating us together."
Cons: "The hassle and the fact that we had to run to catch the new flight."
Pros: "Over all the flight was smooth and great"
Cons: "Kayak, the confirmation email that was sent was incorrect, ended up flying delta - had a scare when checking in at the air europa desk and the attendant says "theres no flights to Malaga" - after further investigation from the staff, we found out it was a Delta flight and NOT and air europa flight"
Pros: "Hey, they let us off the plane."
Cons: "The plane had just come in & problem was detected. Does it really take an hour to get the log book recorded?"
Pros: "Delta is a mess to check in. Check in on line, print boarding passes then stand for an hour to get bag checked, in Cleveland an. urn ind almost as long in Austin. Terrible"
Pros: "It was on time."
Cons: "The plane was dirty and there was a lot of trash around my seat."
Cons: "The entry into the Atlanta airport after landing was somewhat chaotic. We were backed up circling before landing for ~ 1 hour and there seemed to be an unusually large number of folks trying to get through customs/security - noe Delta's fault but an unwelcome experience after being in the air for 8+ hours."
Pros: "Hard to like anything with this delay -- missed 3 appointments in Raleigh."
Cons: "If you have to swap out planes, do it at night, not the morning of the flight! And tell the customers in advance, so they can get some sleep instead of hurrying to the airport for an "on time" flight that couldn't be flown because of an equipment problem."
Cons: "Economy seating was cramped and painful. I sat in a window seat and couldn't hardly move freely enough to get my seatbelt on; and I am a petite female!!"
Cons: "the seats are WAY TOO SMALL"
Pros: "Our original flight delayed and then cancelled and the need help kiosk was quick to provide an alternative. Better aircraft and good flight compared with the original flight"
Cons: "The replacement flight has been delayed almost 2:30 hours due to bad weather in NYC."
Cons: "My eyes were watering and my nose was itchy for the entire flight and I had to hold back sneezes and I think there was something in the air on the plane that was causing this to happen. I was double-masking and I do not have allergies. I wonder if it had to do with the chemicals used to disinfect the plane between flights? I was not very comfortable, to say the least. Everything else was great, though, but I don’t think I will be flying again anytime soon."
Pros: "A crew member saw me struggling to walk and offered a wheelchair, explained to me that I would be met with one throughout my trip. Her name was Donna!! Problem occurred when we got to Dallas."
Cons: "Instead of circling in the sky, they could have had the pilot take the alternate route he eventually took anyway, in the first place. My family and I still don’t know if we’re going to get a flight to El Paso/ stand by. So much 4 seeing my armyson before he deploys, recipient time waisted over bad decisions on to of everything else, entitled woman on the plane insults me on the lane for no reason. The crew was amazing though."
Cons: "The attendants attitude."
Cons: "6 hour delay"
Pros: "Great airplane. Enjoy the 2 seat rows."
Cons: "More leg room"
Cons: "Bigger snack"
Pros: "Everything was awesome. No wait, fast boarding, nice crew!"
Cons: "Absolutely nothing. TSA in Tulsa can always speed up or open more lanes!"
Pros: "The friendly informative team when we learned our plane broke. I switched to Charlotte connection earlier as a Miami one made no sense as Miami is south of Atlanta final destination. We had a different outcome than expected yet staff cared for us."
Cons: "Plane better maintained as before take off a hydraulic part broke and we were grounded . We arrived home hours later than planned because of this."
Pros: "Great stews"
Cons: "Food, 1st class had granola bars. Live tv was advertised, but not available"
Pros: "My bag was lost!!!"
Cons: "To have my bag delivered"
Pros: "Great first class cabin crew."
Cons: "On time"
Cons: "Departing on time...30 minutes late."
Pros: "Very professional and timely. My last six flights with American have been without a hitch and right on time. If I were a business traveler, which I am not, American Airlines would be my go to carrier. Quite satisfied with this airline and have been for a long time. Thanks!"
Pros: "The crew"
Cons: "I just don’t understand how a flight can be delayed three hours from weather the day before. And, of course, we arrived and there was no gate for us. They had three hours to have a gate ready for us. AA fail!"
Cons: "See above"
Pros: "Check in"
Cons: "Missed connection"
Cons: "They charge for coffee."
Pros: "Aircraft was comfortable and spacious"
Cons: "It was super cold, not even with 2 blankets made it"
Cons: "Supposed to leave saturday, but didnt cause the lady at airlines said i need a visa when i did not need a visa.now its tuesday in austrailia and im stuck in airport because quantos doest know where my bags are. This trip is turning or turned into a total disaster!"
Pros: "Standard AA domestic flight. Once we were boarded and underway, things were fine. Crew was friendly, the aircraft was cleaned on the turn from the prior flight, and we didn't sit on the tarmac too long when arriving at DFW. Normal operations for AA domestic."
Cons: "Unfortunately, normal operations for AA domestic means boarding 20-30 minutes late, which delayed the arrival a bit. In general, AA could provide more accurate updates and boarding information for their flights. For example, if the inbound aircraft arrives at the time my flight should be boarding, I want to see an updated departure time, rather than maintaining the "on time" status right up until five minutes before the new boarding time. Generally it takes 25-30 minutes to turn the plane for the next outbound flight."
Pros: "Flight was on time, crew were great."
Pros: "I could give you specific feedback if I'd actually flown anywhere. American Airlines completely screwed the pooch, rebooked, and then canceled my flights. They could've handled it much better and we found out later from another agent that they had other flights that could've gotten us on another one of their flights that would have gotten us there on time."
Pros: "Crew was nicw"
Pros: "This a short flight and they only offered drinks. No entertainment was available"
Cons: "Now pay significant more for carry on bags for another mediocre airline where it is not significantly cheaper."
Cons: "3rd flight in two weeks suck sitting next to a morbidly obese person. They should be forced to purchase two seats."
Pros: "Like my AA rides > 90% of the time. The usual prob is sketchy gogo service."
Cons: "Nogo gogo"
Cons: "Plane was dirty and crew inattentive."
Pros: "Short flight, nothing much to say."
Pros: "The crew on both flights to Cancun were very nice!! thanks"
Pros: "Speedy boarding, friendly crew."
Cons: "Seats are definitely cramped."
Pros: "Crew was pleasant, meal was tasty."
Cons: "Seated next to a man who should have booked 2 seats."
Pros: "Great service. And flight and food"
Pros: "The gate agent was having a bad night because she did not get a break. I am platinum pro and would not upgrade me because she said I was not on the list but she put 2 people in first who were not even advantage members"
Pros: "New plane, no delays"
Cons: "On way there wasted too much time.with delays"
Pros: "Find America airlines very expensive and then you check on the back charge the sea charge ."
Cons: "Don't know why they would load the plane then to have you wait for 10 minutes 15 minutes why they deal with that mechanical issue."
Pros: "The seat pockets were decent, though I like when the magazines have their own designated slot behind the tray in addition to a pocket. Also good there were power outlets. I liked that they didn't skip row numbers, including 13. So if you're in row 22, for example, you know that's literally how many rows back you are."
Cons: "It took 25 minutes from when plane landed until it reached the gate. There was also apparently an issue with the auxiliary power -- the lights went out in back half of plane when we arrived at gate. I prefer having a screen behind each seat, rather than those attached to ceiling on this flight, so that the entertainment can be customized."
Pros: "Flight was smooth and ontime"
Cons: "Flight was extremely expensive."
Pros: "Tight isles tight seats crabby attendants sucks the life out of you. You arrive at destination feeling dead."
Cons: "Movies were ok. The food was passable, but, no place to eat it. Small trays, no place to put anything. And no sooner you get organized and situated to eat and was movie their ready to collect trash. Can I eat without choking my food......I got 8 hours to kill! Luggage was there when we arrived.....guess that was good...."
Pros: "Liked that the restroom was near by (9E). Liked that there was the option of watching a movie."
Cons: "Didn't care for the choice of shows/movie on monitors. I paid for an upgrade for row 9 - and was unfortunately seated next to a very large man, which meant that there was no escaping the fact that our arms or legs touched. Obviously an older plane, because there were no outlets (again, paid for upgraded seats). Previous flight was WAY better and I was in the regular seat."
Pros: "The crew on the flight was very nice and extremely helpful."
Cons: "The flight was oversold and we almost didn't get on the flight. When we finally got our seat assignment my wife got her seat but mine was taken and they had to ask someone to give up their seat."
Cons: "I selected an aisle seat because I have very bad anxiety and when I got there to print off my ticket I was assigned a middle seat. It was very uncomfortable"
Cons: "The worst experience I ever had in thirty years of flying. I missed my flight because even though I got to LAX two hours before the flight, I had to wait on the baggage check for two and a half hours. The attendants were texting and talking and not servicing the passengers. When I told American attendants and supervisors that I was going to miss my flight unless they got me through they were clueless and didn't care about me or any of the passengers. The entire American staff were the most disorganized and careless flight personnel I have ever seen. Them they put me on a standby flight, where I was number eight and five minutes later was number eighteen, so I missed that, too. My wife is one of the top Public Relations people in Los Angeles and we both have tweeted and posted on social media extensively about this horrendous experience. I require a full refund from American Airlines for my airfare, and if I don't receive it from you will take you to court. --Eric Red"
Pros: "Good flight! Smooth landing!"
Cons: "The flight was cancelled without notification."
Pros: "A great ride."
Pros: "Movies were available to watch."
"I didn’t eat any of the snacks nor drink any of the beverages available on the flight. I tend to fall asleep on the plane, which is what happened. It has been a while since I have flown United, I appreciated the spacious seating, comfortable seats and improved planes. Thanks for making the flight easy and enjoyable, it seems like the company has been working on making general improvements to their flights and it’s paying off."
"No food. Got a window seat and of course 21a had no window just a perfect panel of plastic"
"Bad information from Kayak. unhelpful and confusing."
"No food…. : ( - we survived!"
Pros: "The crew was nice. When I finally arrived in Denver, Marlin in customer service was the only saving grace for United for me. When I asked for options for an earlier flight into Rapid City so I didn’t have to wait 24 hours and miss my visit with my sister, he looked at different hubs (Chicago, Minneapolis) to see if they had any available flights into Rapid, he checked for double bookings, and when he couldn’t find anything, he put me on the standby list for the first flight out in the morning and wrote down the flight information for all of the United flights from Denver for the following day. Marlin provided excellent customer service and was a huge credit to the company."
Cons: "The flight was supposed to leave at 3:56 pm and didn’t leave until 7:30 pm. I would estimate at least 15-20 people missed connecting flights because of the delay. According to the United app, the delay initially started in Portland due to mechanical issues, which took over 3 hours. Then, there was a weather delay in San Francisco according to the gate agent - there was a ground hold and no planes were landing or flying out. At some point, I would think another plane would have been an option rather than delaying a flight for this long and disrupting holiday travel for so many people."
Pros: "The flight was great. No complains to the crew."
Cons: "The drop-off bags at LAX is a mess and you have to stand in two separate lines to drop off your bag. First you have to print the tag and then go to another long line be with 2 employees only to drop it of instead of having one place to print and drop off at the same time. Poor system. Moreover while there was plenty of time my bag did not make it on the same flight. It will arrive on the next flight hopefully. I had to wait in another line for 30 minutes to arrange the delivery and verify all my information. I truly believe that to make a trip great both arms - the airport and the flight experience should be perfect. Unfortunately the ground experience does not allow me to give a higher rating."
Cons: "I paid $100 for an upgrade on a United which turned out to be the first row, and right beside the rest room (which was erroneously showing as occupied for the first 20 minutes). The traffic made it feel like I was sitting on a bench in Grand Central Station. I chose an aisle seat but ended up mysteriously in the middle seat. I had extra leg room but if I’d eaten the free 5 pretzels I wouldn’t have been able to fit it my seat any longer. The WiFi wasn’t working for the first hour of the flight. The flight attendant got really annoyed when we didn’t look up when he came by with beverages the first time. We all had headphones on and were looking at our personal screens. The activity by the rest room was constant so we didn’t notice it wasn’t just someone waiting for the loo. The luggage took so long to come out I thought my conference would be over before I got it. Overall, I thought it was bad and confirmed why I don’t fly United. Old, dingy planes, poor service. The pilot was pleasant and communicative so there was at least that..."
Pros: "Everything was great"
Cons: "Serve drinks faster we didn't get a drink until we was 20 min into flight. I pay for first class expect a drink before we take off."
Cons: "Not sticking me next to a 400 pound man"
Pros: "The leg room on the E175 is better than most. The seats have minimal padding but they're ok. Great Wi-Fi options."
Cons: "The one stewardess was obviously annoyed and bothered by her job, but they did fulfill their roles."
Pros: "Customer service started from the gate agent. Both ladies were very helpful and extremely patient. They had a good community of work. Morning was efficient. The flight crew was very helpful. The gentleman and the young women were always smiling and checking in on customer service started from the gate agents. Both ladies were very helpful and extremely patient. They had a good community of work. Morning was efficient. The flight crew was very helpful. The gentleman and young woman were always smiling and checking in on us the passengers."
Cons: "The United boarding staff was no help at San Diego airport. I was at the gate 30 minutes before flight take off time, but by the time I arrived, the door was closed, so I was waiting in front of the gate seating area. the flight time was 10:40, and my clock says 10:41, and the flight was gone. This is my first time in 20 years gate attendant didn't announce anything, and there are other people who missed this flight. Because of this, my rest of the trip was miserable, missed meeting in Santa Fe. I need a money back."
Pros: "That I eventually made it home."
Cons: "Flight from Calgary to Denver delayed three and half hours. Informed of this delay thirty minutes before scheduled departure when our plane hadn’t even left Denver yet to head to Calgary. ( 2.5 hr flight) once finally made it to Denver was informed that we missed connecting flight to Boston. We were then informed since it’s for “weather” reasons earlier in the day that caused a sequence of delays they couldn’t accommodate us for hotel. We were given two “blankets” which were as thin as a sheet and each one bottle of water. Some other people around us received good voucherS. We did not. We walked around the airport for close to an hour looking for anyplace we could lay down and sleep. None were to be found. We tried to sleep on the floor but was so cold and uncomfortable I literally got sick to my stomach. Another fun thing added to mix. We were placed on another flight as 6 the next morning. After no sleeping at all we boarded our next flight Which was not a direct flight to Boston but would be from Denver to Newark then Newark to Boston. We were suppose to originally land in Boston at 0600 Monday. Instead we arrived at 1430 after getting zero sleep. My husband and I were also unable to sit together which was extra special for people around me because after not sleeping I continued to be sick to my stomach."
Pros: "Seats were comfortable, we were in first class. United provided a good selection of recent movies."
Cons: "United stewardesses have little to no interest in their duties. Questions were clearly an annoyance to them. The leg of flight from Denver to Des Moines was very uncomfortable, seats much to tigh, no leg room. Gate staff in Denver were exceptional. United needs to revisit their time for loading. We preloaded, I had a broken leg, I was traveling with a special needs woman. We just reached our seats when other passengers were prodding us to sit so they could board no time to settle. Not impressed"
Cons: "Couldn’t understand what the crew was saying. Had to wait 29 minutes on plane after landing for a gate. The entertainment was annoying and the screen would not shut off. I did not purchase direct tv because I do not was to buy a product to watch advertisements. If you offer it then there should be an option to TURN OFF THE SCREEN it is super annoying"
Pros: "The flight attendants were so nice, and although our flight was delayed and hour and fifteen minutes and our layover was an hour and fifteen minutes, we were able to make our connection! Since our connection to Portland in Denver was the last flight of the night, they were able to hold it for us. This was wonderful because there weren’t many flights out that weren’t booked solid for the next day. The attendants on this flight were great about updating us with information for the connections and telling us when we would land in Denver."
Cons: "The plane was delayed over an hour for cleaning. It was frustrating to say the least."
Pros: "For the first time I did not fly on a puddle jumper. Not only was it a real jet, it had good seat comfort and leg room even in economy class. The crew was friendly and attentive. They came by with offerings of water at least 4 times for a 2+ hour flight. Contrast that with my last two 5 hour flights on Virgin and American where they came by with water — ONCE. WiFi wasn’t working for either flight and of course the lack of decent food is discouraging. The coffee has improved which is a plus. Overall, good job, United! Nice not to be jammed in like sardines for once."
Cons: "Every time I fly to Denver, we land in one terminal and your connection is in another terminal that requires a train ride to get there. ,ayovers are short — generally barely an hour. If the flight is late you stand a very good chance of missing your connection, as I’m betting happened to over half the passengers on this flight. I was the lucky exception — this aircraft was actually the connecting flight too. Why can’t all United connections be in the same terminal? It makes no sense."
Pros: "Pleasant staff."
Cons: "Snug srating"
Pros: "The flight was on time"
Cons: "This was a smaller plane (4 seats across). Knowing this, they didn't bring enough luggage carts, so they only brought some of the luggage to the baggage claim and didn't tell us this. 5-6 of us waited and waited and finally asked someone who told us that they had to go back to the plane to get the rest of the luggage. Those of us still waiting got to wait another half hour for our luggage. Talk all they want, United just can't seem to get it right. PS: those of us who had to wait were the ones who got to the San Antonio airport the earliest and thus our luggage was on the plane first."
Pros: "My whole trip had to be mixed because I couldn’t get out of Fresno originally"
Cons: "United was very limited in options to get me to my destination so my whole trip had to be cancelled. A trip I had planned for a year. Will probably never fly United Again."
Pros: "We will never fly united... NEVER EVER AGAIN"
Cons: "United airlines employee Mearle at the check in counter was extremely disrespectful, Rude, and arrogant towards everyone in line at the counter Trying to check in. Many customers including us waitted in the check in line for 35 minutes or more while Mearle proceeded to chat on her cell phone (personal call), and taking a break leaning the check in counter while everyone waited on her so she could assist with check in. Finally the passengers in front of us voice their concern to mearle stating that everyone is going to miss theirs flights if she didn't assist us all right away. Mearle responded by snapping back by saying "it's not my fault that united keep us understaffed and pay us enough to care " then laughed and walked away again. At this point we realized that if we did not get immediate assistance, that we would surly miss our flight. I walked in front of the line on behalf of everyone standing in line and reiterated to Mearle in a firm tone that she insisting check in the remaining 12 passengers immediately. Mearle snapped back telling me to "worry about my own self and don't tell me how to do my own job". Feeling very stressed out And worried about missing my flight went and stood back in line again. A few moments later I over heard Mearle tell the passengers ahead of us " you're too late. You've missed your flight" these passengers became very upset with Mearle telling her that she's the reason they missed the flight and Mearle laughed and said out loud to everyone else in line.. "you all missed your flight. You all should be more responsible next time and get here earlier" and then Mearle walked away never to be see again. Many of us missed our flight which caused many of us to also miss our connecting flights. We immediately called the 800 number and filed a complaint. Then we were forced to drive three hours in traffic to LAX where we caught a later flight and barely made it to our destination in time for our work event. We swore that because of Mearle and her disgusting behavior that we will never ever fly united again (and I fly a lot for my job) and since that horrible experience with Mearle two months ago, I've flown on four trips spending over $2300 dollars and every flight has been booked through American Airlines. Do to Mearle's bad attitude, disrespectful personality, and poor representation of united we will never do business with united again. We suggest united airlines remove Mearle from Having any contact with the general public as we are sure that Mearle is loosing customers for united at a very rapid pace."
Cons: "Seats to small. But I am 6'3"" and my son traveling with me is 6'5"."
Pros: "Nothing about this airline."
Cons: "The crew at the gate was really rude. Zero customer service. She raised her voice at us and another customer who was charged $50 for our carry on. Not only was the flight delayed for over 2 hours. We were not informed that we could not bring a carry on even when we were at the main entrance with an agent for over 30 mins when you entered the airport. All their staff needs new training everyone kept on giving us a different answer. We asked because of this delayed will our room be comp due to the fact we will be missing our connected flight. On the phone the agent said yes. When we got to the airport that agent said no. When we got on the plane that agent said no. When we landed in Denver that agent comp our room. We ended up booking a room making sure we had a place to stay at night. It created more work for us because we were trying to cancel our room took even more time. Definitely wanted to give United the benefit of the doubt that they were at least at the level of American Airlines. The last time we flew United it was delayed for 8 hours they ended up canceling the flight. When we called they said it was the weather and we told that agent it's mechanical issue because we are watching someone remove the engine. We will stick to American Airlines. Free entertainment."
Pros: "I liked the legroom of Economy Plus. The flight itself was good. Didn't buy any food."
Cons: "We arrived late in Denver and had to sit at the gate and wait for the jetway person to arrive and connect the jetway to the plane. I also didn't like the fact that I had to buy Economy Plus because my wife and I were not only not assigned seats together after booking, we were not assigned seats at all. When I booked the flights I was only allowed to choose seats for the first flight - Charlotte to Houston...but not for the other three legs of our Charlotte to Seattle trip. The only two seats together from Houston to Seattle were in the very last row. And, on our return flight we had to purchase Economy Plus in order to sit together."
Pros: "Flight was smooth and on time"
Cons: "The boarding gate attendants were rude and uncaring when we asked them to help us switch pre-assigned seats to ensure our two year old sat with us. While we might have understood better had they been empathetic, they were rude and uncaring and said when you book online you sign a waiver and they can not do anything about this. Wow. This was our flight back. Originally on the way to our destination we had used Delta and that customer service experience was completely different even though that flight was full too. Never flying United again as long as I can avoid it."
Pros: "free movies on the flight with the united app"
Cons: "The flight attendant was late delaying boarding 20 minutes. Once they started, people were lining up to board. This is a normal behavior however, there employee decided to stop boarding because she said people were crowding. she stop boarding for another 20 minutes. Now, this was a large flight and there wasn't enough room for everyone to stand off to the side. She was rude and there was no reason for this especially when the flight attendant was already late. The plane was delayed 45 minutes due to this"
Pros: "Nothing I won't be flying united again!"
Cons: "The lady at the gate when boarding was not friendly and was not willing to help us get seats together. I was traveling with my mother, husband and two infant children. And it was like pulling teeth to get any information out of her. She did not even tell us we could board early to get situated on plane! I also called earlier that morning and spoke with a man on he phone at united who told me he put us all in the same row. That was a lie bc when we checked in at the gate to get our seats the lady said no one was sitting next to each other! That lady was rude and short tempered! Awful experience will never fly again!!"
Cons: "When all the passengers, who book the flight, cannot be accommodated, the airline should not allow booking for that flight. Having a ticket and a boarding pass to board my flight, I was still told (and was not asked if I would like to do this) to take another flight route, which would take me to my destination 5 hours later than my booking time. The complimentary vouchers is not always appreciated when the passenger is already exhausted from previous flughts, and then is told to spend additional time at the airports/flights just because the flight went overcapacity. I wish the flight staff had asked if anybody on the flight was willing to volunteer for a different flight, instead of just making the 4-5 passengers take this alternate route, all because of the overbooking. Also, the flight gate as mentioned on the boarding pass was not accurate, and the only way a passenger can come to know of the change, is if the passenger makes an effort to go verify this information. IMO, the airline should make an announcement, at the least, at the gate mentioned on the boarding pass that the gate has changed."
Cons: "A passenger had to move because of an allergy to the "emotional support dog" in the seat next to her. They moved her before the rest of the flight had boarded, so the seating got messed up and took quite a bit of time to sort out. The flight crew seemed to be extremely put off by the whole scenario and couldn't seem to keep their displeasure professionally under control. I ended up volunteering to move because the passengers who caused the problem refused to bend. For all the crew's displeasure, they didn't handle the passengers, the passengers handled them."
Cons: "I was flying home the day after having broken my L5 Vertebrae. I was held up in security because of the patch the doctor put on my back and although the TSA employees were very nice and friendly I almost missed my flight. While boarding, the staff took the opportunity to berate me for being late. While I understood why, it was really unprofessional to speak to a passenger like that without the full context. It didn't help that I was really cranky. Never had a bad experience with united before so I was very disappointed."
Cons: "Total flight was cancelled got trapped in Denver next flight was going to be out 3 days later. Customer care locations were closed. Still lost baggage. Had to rent a car in Denver and drive 2 Durango on icy roads. Totally terrible Airline and a terrible experience."
Pros: "The friendly co-travelers as there is no food or entertainment for people on a budget. Better than my flight TO SLC which was cancelled the first day, then delayed the 2nd day. Airport services saved my day by carting me to the connecting flight TO SLC from Denver as there was only 15 minutes to get from one end of the concourse to the other. A little difficult to run there at my age. Any chance of allowing people with connecting flights disembark first instead of last in this situation?"
Cons: "Due to inclement weather conditions no liquids were served. Small bottles of water would be great - less likely to spill over in bad weather and thirst would also be quenched. Lack of luggage space for those of us with the correct allowance hand luggage instead of all the extra large pieces because people don't want to go to baggage claims or pay for baggage. Truly their suitcase not paid for is the same as mine paid for. Difference is the inconvenience of having to keep my hand luggage at my feet because of the larger pieces filled by passengers in group 1, 2, and 3 over my designated seat area."
Cons: "I told the checkin agent that I would need a wheelchair at the Denver and OHare airports. I told the flight attendant on both flights. I would need a wheelchair at arrival. No wheelchairs for me. At Dwnver they were able to find one for me but with no one to push me. Eventually the pilot who flew us to Denver stepped in and got me to my connecting flight gate, bless his heart. At OHare no wheelchairs for anyone who had requested one. Complete chaos. I finally had to walk to my connecting flight from terminal C to terminal B. Very exhausting for someone with cancer who is exhausted most of the time. Your wheelchair service is completely ineffective, disappointing and a cruel joke."
Cons: "Unable to pre-check online. Unable to check at the check in machines--had to go up and check in at the counter, long wait because there was only one clerk. We were then given a ticket just to get through security and had to check in a second time when we get to the gate for seat assignment, which is ridiculous. Why couldn't that be done at the 1st check-in? The clerk told me she will call me when she has the seat assignment/ boarding ticket but she never did and I had to go back up to ask for them when it was getting close to boarding time. At the last moment minutes, volunteers could check in their carry on for free....It would have been nice (and less hassle) to have that option at the 1st check-in."
Pros: "Once flight began it ran quite smooth"
Cons: "I chose seats when I booked the tickets. So... Not quite sure how both myself and my partner didn't end up seated together, and both ended up in a middle seat sandwiched between 2 overweight people... Are you little people profiling to break up the overwhelming number of big people? another couple with 2 kids were also broken up into distant areas on the plane. I know everyone complains about so many things, and this wasn't the end of the world, but still, it's not ideal. The seating/etc seemed more disorganized than usual for this flight."
Cons: "I'm usually a patient person, but my flight was supposed to leave at 525am and didn't leave until 730. This was the first flight in the morning. We boarded, waiting 30 minutes on the plane, they told us to get off because there were computer issues. Why wasn't that checked before everybody was boarded? Once we got on the plane we had to wait another 30 minutes for the crew to get someone's luggage from under the plane. Why wasn't that done while the computer was getting fixed? I didn't get to Denver until 1040am missed my flight and didn't get to get on my connection until 500pm. In the meantime I called to get on a different flight at 1, but the guy on the phone didn't actually book me a seat. The gate people weren't very nice."
Cons: "My boarding pass was not scanning which was holding up the line. A second person came over to approve me getting on the plane. That person made me check the size of my carry on bag, which had gotten bigger from some things I purchased in the airport but was just a touch too large for their sizer. She attempted to check the bag meaning I wouldn't have it until my final destination, which I was NOT ok with for two reasons. One was i had a 3 hour layover after this flight and needed work materials inside. The second was i was on a time crunch to get my ride at my final destination and was only traveling with carry on. She was very rude and insitant on it fitting inside the sizer as she stood over me with the tag to check my bag. I managed to take some things out that I moved into my backpack, which meant I had to awkwardly carry my blanket and travel pillow onto the plane. The most frustrating part was when I got on the plane, it was oversized top carryon bins, so the extra inch my bag grew would have been fine. Because of the time it took me to rearrange, i was the last one on the plane and all the bins had been filled with tiny second bags, but a few people on the plane had seen what happened and they rearranged a space for me. Also my video screen was broken and everyone else's worked. And there were two screaming babies around me the whole flight, but that is no one's fault."
Pros: "The plane was clean, flight was smoothe, cost was good."
Cons: "Made me check my carry on because they stated there was no room which was not the case when I walked on ( found at least 6 spots). I requested to at least be able to look for myself seeing as how my seat was in the very back, but they refused. Also, allowed many customers to store their personal bag ( their backpack) in the bins that were oversized which should have counted as their carry on, just allowed them because they wanted to. They should have made those individuals check their "carry on". Also limited snacks available by the time they were able to provide service to my area of the plane."
Cons: "I sat between two oversized men and was uncomfortable the whole flight"
Cons: "About two hours before my flight, it was canceled after previously making an airplane switch the night before after checking in online. The I received an email while I was on the way to the airport saying that the airplane that I was going to fly out on was canceled due to airplane maintenance. While I am happy they didn't fly the plane while needing maintenance, they should have planned ahead and known of the maintenance or had a backup ready to go. Obviously it must have been something they just found, but in the big picture of things. You have to pay an way to much for a flight as it is. They should have to solve their own issues to honor their part of the contract. We (as customers) can't cancel a flight with out penalties. Why shouldn't they have to do the same?"
Pros: "The seats were roomy enough. The plane was clean."
Cons: "The flight within itself was not a problem. However there was a hold up because on weather which is not a problem better safe than sorry. But trying to make our connecting flight was the problem we asked over and over for information on if we were to make our connecting flight and no one seem to be able to give us a relatively fair answer on what we were to do because of the delays. Needless to say we missed our connecting flight in New Jersey they shut the door and said we could not board, that's OK if that was the rules but what to do next was the problem, no one could seemingly help us.We had to walk around to find someone to help us to only be told that we can just get the next flight but we had to go to customer service to get re-ticketed which was making us missed even another flight the lines in customer service were extremely long and they were going extremely slow so I had to jump out of line and go to a gate in which someone help me get re-ticketed to catch the next flight. We were to have someone to meet us in London in which we had no way to connect with them to tell them we were going to be 2 to 3 hours late. Once we got on a flight the plane was clean, the seats were spacious enough for economy and the staff was friendly but coming through New Jersey was not what I would want to do again but I had a flight back coming through. The horror!"
Pros: "Smooth boarding. Friendly crew. Got us there on time, despite a late start That included a gate change."
Cons: "Was asked to check my carry on bag, because the flight was full. Meaning they sold the seat I purchased for my wife (who was unable to make the flight). I did so, but when I looked in the overhead bin after the flight, it was empty. When we arrived in Denver, I waited at the baggage carousel, watched everyone pick up there bags, until there were only 5 or 6 bags going around. I then went to a counter behind the carousel and asked about my bag. I was only then told that my bag had been there the whole time I was waiting."
Pros: "Very friendly and helpful staff."
Cons: "The fact that we had a connecting flight to minot from Denver. Arrived late to Denver because of weather, but my stroller that I had left on the jetway in Seattle was never put on the plane which I didn't know until I got to minot. I was going to wait for it in denver, but I would have missed my flight to minot had I waited 5 more minutes. We arrived to minot only to find out that our 3 suitcases, one stroller and 2 car seats were never in the flight. Awful! And my connecting flight was even delayed an extra 55 min so I don't quite know where my things are."
Pros: "Crew was very friendly."
Cons: "App never worked so I couldn't watch a movie on the flight."
Pros: "On time."
Cons: "United has squeezed its Economy class customers into seats that are tolerable only for the shortest. If I were an inch or so taller, I would have found the space intolerable. As it was, my knees were against the seat in front. For a flight as long as this one (over 5 hours from Anchorage to Denver), it was uncomfortable to say the least. The middle of the plane was nearly empty, because United charges $75 per seat for an upgrade. For the round-trip for two of us, that would have added $300 to our bill. The fact that so few are willing to pay the upgrade fee indicates that the increment is too large."
Pros: "The flight was smooth. And the wine was good."
Cons: "I paid for 2 round trip tickets and because my son was not there for the first leg, they resold the seat. So they got my money and the other person's money for the same seat. I wanted both seats and paid for both seats. It is theft and should not be allowed. The flight attendant was extremely rude and dismissive. It is a poor practice. You could have at least asked first before rebooking the seat. At least have offered compensation or something. I probably would have said yes Anyway. It's the principle of the process being wrong to the consumer which only benefits the corporation."
Cons: "My flight was scheduled to leave at 4:51 pm. I arrived at the airport 2 and a half hours before my flight was to leave and I read the departure board to see that the flight was delayed due to maintenance. Then I saw that it was delayed again because we were waiting for a flight coming in from the Bahamas. Well my flight didn't take off until about 7:30 pm. I arrived in Denver around 10:00 pm which made me miss my shuttle to the Springs. I am a diabetic and was in need of my medication so I needed to get home. I spent extra money to take a bus to downtown Denver and a grayhound bus to the springs and a cab to my home. So my trip cost my an extra $55.00 dollars I didn't have. I have always taken United but after this experience, I will never again take United."
Cons: "Recently United decided to cancel all of their flights to Denver due to an April snow storm. United was the only company that chose to cancel rather than delay flights. Our flight was cancelled 24 hrs before any snow fell. Their solution was to offer us another flight over 72 hrs out. After spending 6 hrs on the phone with this company (not exaggerating) I feel entitled to say that this company holds zero accountability or concern for their customers. We had to spend an additional $500 to get to our destination last minute through JetBlue."
Pros: "The crew is AMAZING!!! Personal, professionals, they go above and beyond my personal standard of customer service. Very comfortable atmosphere. Not to be mistaken with the uncomfortable seats. I like to think United doesn't overlook the work ethic their employees represent the company with on a day to day basis."
Cons: "I travel for work from Grand Junction, Colorado to Dickinson, North Dakota every 4 to 6 weeks. I always fly United. On one occasion I met family in Colorado Springs, so I bought a round trip ticket from Dickinson to Colorado Springs. I missed the second half of my round trip flight from Colorado Springs to Dickinson. I had to pay my own cab fare from Colorado Springs to Denver to catch my flight, because your plane, that i paid for a flight on, had mechanical issues and didn't make it to Colorado Springs. Second, my flight in Denver was cancelled 3 times and almost a fourth. I all but got down on my knees and begged to catch the fourth flight they tried to cancel. Third, I didn't even get to fly into Dickinson. So instead of somebody coming and picking me up in Dickinson which is a 30-minute drive from where I work, somebody had to drive 3 hours to Williston where you guys ended up getting me. Which cost me 3 hours of gas money to get picked up, instead of 30 min of gas money. I didn't get either of the flights back to North Dakota that I paid for. I've asked for the reasonable request that I be refunded 50% of the cost of the airfare and the $235 it cost for cab fare. When I contacted United about this I got the runaround from everybody. At this point I've pretty much accepted the loss, and the financial hit. I'll continue to fly United only because it's pretty much my only option. Just make sure you keep the crew around. They're great. I'd hate for the experience to go from unsatisfying, to miserable."
Pros: "Crew was nice"
Cons: "Plane was delayed 5 hours"
Pros: "on time arrival and departure, polite crew"
Cons: "uncomfortable seats, tight fit"
Pros: "Flight was ok time. The plane was clean."
Cons: "Al a carte flight services are not my preference. I would take regular carrier for the same fare."
Cons: "We found out when we arrived at the airport, that the flight departure was delayed from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Ouch. At 8:30 pm we departed. 2 hours into a 3-hour flight I happened to look out the window and noticed that I could see city lights, shopping centers, streets w/ lights and cars on the streets on both sides of the airplane.. we were not at 35,000ft but maybe 5,000ft. I was also aware that they were flying slower than the usual 400 +/-. My guess was we were only flying at 250 +/-. This flight mode continued the rest of the way into our destination airport. As we were taxiing into our assigned gate the flight crew came on over the intercom and announced that they were a little late and that there were 8 passengers who only had 10 minutes to make their connecting flight and asked that everyone on the plane please let these people go first on deplaning. OK, no problem. We stopped at the gate, turned off the engines, the 8 people got up and moved to the front of the plane, then they didn't open the door for almost 8 minutes. My wife and I will not be flying Frontier much in the future."
Cons: "Cramped seating"
Pros: "I liked how helpful the crew would be in with handicap wheelchair aisle assistance.and other needs."
Cons: "The seating and seats totally suck. Just on a three hour flight my butt was sore, no leg space, the feeling of being cramped the whole way, not able to tilt my head back to rest was just not good. No seat adjustment at all."
Pros: "No frills on a Frontier flight. The crew was generally update and smiled."
Cons: "Frontier's fees and policy regarding having to pay for everything really puts me off this airline. Why charge me $100 for the flight if I have to buy a seat as well? just charge me $109 or whatever. Additionally, charging people for things you get one other airlines for free (a cup full of soda is $3? Really?) is insulting. The plane itself shook the ENTIRE ride something that I have never experienced in my 20+ years of traveling. Maybe time to invest some of that soda money into your planes huh?"
Pros: "The other passengers were great."
Cons: "My flight was delayed so I missed the concert I was attending, so I lost money. It was extremely turbulent and I was sick. The flight attendents were extremely rude."
Cons: "Poor customer service No other floghts available for same say or early morning"
Pros: "The staff were the only saving grace."
Cons: "There should be a place to mark horrifying. It always appears that Frontier is the least expensive until you get hit with all the little charges. We paid an extra 18$ each to choose seats, bad ones, and then the seat next to me is filled by someone who choose not to pay. Some folks paid $30 for a carry on and others just lugged uge free bags on. The flights are always delayed and the plane was filthy. I know there was no time for staff to do there short cleaning routine, this was not from a single flight, looked like floors and seat have NEVER been cleaned. UGH"
Pros: "The crew was nice....once they actually arrived."
Cons: "The crew was 7 hours late, thus we were 7 hours late boarding causing me to miss an entire day of my Christmas vacation. After being 7 hours tardy, they offered no apologies, no free drink or snack to try to appease us. I requested a refund of this ticket due to the airline being the reason our flight was delayed (we were directly told it was not weather or maintenance, but crew staffing issues) and was denied. What a disaster."
Pros: "All around horrible. Only delayed airline. Doesn't keep customers informed of delay or new times. Can't seem to run a business. Can't keep a schedule or coordinate staffing."
Cons: "All around horrible. Only delayed airline. Doesn't keep customers informed of delay or new times. Can't seem to run a business. Can't keep a schedule or coordinate staffing."
Pros: "I was supposed to fly to Denver at 2:00 today, and I'm still stuck in Cleveland!!! Not sure when I'm gonna get home!! This is utterly ridiculous!!!"
Pros: "Not much at all"
Cons: "Flight was four hours late despite being listed as"on time" Took over an hour to get off the plane after we landed. No updates given."
Pros: "The staff is friendly, but that doesn't come close to making up for everything else."
Cons: "Extra cost for EVERYTHING. $45 each way for my small bag to put in the overhead?! Really?! There's an additional $90 on my round trip right there. The staff was really nice and friendly, but they came around offering drinks and I asked for a black coffee. They said it will be $2.99. Really? You can't afford to provide a coffee to your customers? I was in row 36 and there was MASS confusion as to which seats were in which row. The labels are not directly above the seats, so 15 to 20 people had to move around to get it right. The boarding zones make no sense either. I was in zone 1 and was in the isle seat. Shouldn't the zones load all window seats first, then center, then isle? Common sense has gone out the window. Won't be flying frontier again."
Cons: "We were at check in in plenty of time, but because there was only one person checkin us all in, we were almost late. The poor person checking us all in was under a great deal of pressure and went so far as to blame us for. To getting there in time. Frontier needs. Ore than one person checking in people. Also, your Everything-as-cheap-as-we-can -make-it policy is evident in seating, tray tables, well, in everything. I still can't believe you nickel and dime everyone with everything. Carry-on REALLY? And lastly, we had to wait for our luggage for over 1/2 hour! I will say the flight attendants were very polite and helpful. I'm sorry they have to work for you. Never again, Frontier!"
Pros: "The flight crew was very friendly and good humored."
Cons: "The absence of reclining seats is a strong negative. Having to pay $40 per carry-on bag is absurd."
Pros: "The crew was totally awesome."
Cons: "The flight was delayed over an hour. Cramped seating. The crew was great but this is the last time I fly Frontier. It's worth it to pay a little more to fly American, United or Southwest."
Pros: "Got in ahead of schedule"
Cons: "Seats are cramped. I'm not even 6' tall and I was cramped... c'mon"
Pros: "boarding was very smooth and flight left early."
Cons: "uncomfortable seats- seats don't recline"
Cons: "Sat all the way in the back against the bathrooms, AGAIN. They wouldn't let me switch to seats that were clearly wide open because of "weight distribution." This company is a bunch of clowns."
Pros: "Not much to like. Very cramped"
Cons: "Ontime arrival record is one of the worst ever. Going to Cleveland the flight was over 9 hours late. Their customer service is no very customer friendly. Advice. Do not fly frontier airlines."
Pros: "Great communication from crew regarding 3-hour delay"
Cons: "Seats and leg room very uncomfortable."
Pros: "FRONTIER MOVED OUR FLIGHT A FULL DAY NO PHONE CALLS LIKE OTHER AIRLINES DO HAD TO CANCEL ENTIRE VACATION MISSED 40 YEAR SCHOOL REUNION"
Pros: "Somewhat cheap flight (though see below)"
Cons: "Frontier and their continual insistence on charging money for what should be standard of care. Misleading advertising (flights should be advertised at price with seat and carry on). When you incorporate these rates frontier is more expensive than united or southwest, both of which have better arrangements Seats are uncomfortable. Trays have been reduced to bins. Does not help that Cleveland airport is notoriously bad with delays"
Pros: "The price and the flight crew."
Cons: "I paid for the luxury of being allowed to board. I had to pay extra for a seat, to check my bag, to check my carry-on, for my coffee (which really didn't taste good). If it's economy you're after, this is a good choice. But overall Frontier would in my opinion have to work hard to achieve mediocrity."
Cons: "generally cheap fares, though ours was not. After add ons - not that cheap. Appalling cabins- seats are hard, no tray table to speak of,. I suspect they save money by have fewer employees. No complimentary cabin service. The crew spends its time collecting garbage (no between flight clean up crew). Baggage claim took 50 minutes. "customer service" counter in Denver was horrible - dismissive and rude."
Pros: "I was able to get this flight really cheap and I'm not hard to please."
Cons: "Would have been nice if crew noticed me more to ask about water drinks food trash etc. But I guess guy beside me was tall and on his laptop. Would have had to reach over him to get their attention."
Pros: "on time"
Cons: "most uncomfortable plane i have been on."
Pros: "Flight on time"
Cons: "I made a mistake when scheduling my flight. I scheduled return flight for wrong date. Noticed it and called and I was told it was 2 hrs too late to change flight with no charge. I just needed to change date not cxl a flight."
Pros: "The flight was a little early, but better than being late."
Cons: "Paying for seat, and fees that led to the total price. Probably use United or Southwest next flight."
Pros: "The value is incredible: if a no frills flight is the goal, Frontier is the place to go. The extra leg room seats are worry the upgrade for those of us with long legs who need to access the personal items below the seat ahead."
Cons: "No real complaints, honestly. Clean aircraft. I rated the food and entertainment as at 3 stars because I didn't buy any food or need any entertainment, which is good because the catering isn't cheap and there is no TV or movie service. I would've liked power outlets at the seats but I understand that that adds cost, and I'd rather pay less."
Pros: "Not much but what was good was tha we were early on arrival."
Cons: "Cramped, seats were like park benches, pay for coffe and everything else, pay to reserve a seat, pay to carry on."
Pros: "I Liked The price of the ticket"
Cons: "My row didn't recline at all which is uncomfortable for 3 hours and when you have to wait for a gate for an hour on the ground in good weather and not a busy time. No entertainment at all. Only airline I had to pay for a drink."
Cons: "We were pulled out of a long boarding line to PAY for carry on. We were not charged carry on coming the other direction. Did not know there was a charge. This should be MORE clearly noted with the on-line reservation system. There were a long line of us having to pay last minute and very angry. Seats on aircraft hard and uncomfortable and do not recline. Charge for any beverage or snack. Very surprising."
Pros: "Direct flight, affordable, clean, convenient"
Cons: "I have nothing negative to say"
Pros: "I was impressed with how smooth the takeoff and landing were in addition to the kindness of the crew."
Cons: "The hidden charges and random fees got me sweating as they piled up, but nothing too terrible that it actually made flying Frontier more expensive than other airlines."
Pros: "I liked being able to board ahead of time because I had a lap child."
Cons: "I didn't like not having a ticket for my lap child or an indication on my ticket. I didn't like being on the Tarmac for an hour with very little communication. I didn't like waiting for baggage for over an hour with no communication. I really didn't like waiting for my car seat for another half hour with no communication. I can't believe there is no wifi and there is an up charge for everything. This was my worst flight ever and I fly A LOT."
Cons: "Flight price may have been lower, but EVERYthIng else on Frontier was cheap. There's a difference. Bathrooms were filthy, seats are very uncomfortable,. When the service cart came around, the gentleman sitting next to me asked the attendants if they charged for water! I'm only 5'2" and it was crowded. But the crowning insult was being charged $60 for each piece of carry on luggage. Neither Kayak or Frontier say upfront or easily identifible, that if you show up with a suitcase you pay for it. We were quite surprised and disappointed. Will never fly such a cheap airline again. To Frontier: really? Really? Include costs in your fares."
Pros: "Flight attendants were polite. The flight was smooth and relaxing."
Cons: "The seats were not the most comfortable so toward the end of the flight my lower back and legs were becoming stiff."
Cons: "The service, and delays were absolutely terrible. They switched gates on me 3 times, which in turn made me miss my flight. I then had to uber back fourth costing me $100 to get to and from the airport, when my friends dropped me off on time. I arrived 2 hours before my flight, and then it got delayed, then switched gates, then the lady at the desk told me that they were boarding at 410. I arrived at 409 at the wrong gate and to run to the other gate to board which was then 411 and they said they were departing at 410. Absolutely terrible. Never again."
Cons: "seats didn't lean back $2 for a cup of orange juice? we sat on the tarmac in Denver over an hour"
Pros: "I like that the plane didn't crash."
Cons: "Our flight was delayed for 3 hours, a major inconvenience, gotto Denver at 2am insteadof 10pm as expected. They gave us $25."
Cons: "The fact that we were already delayed about forty minutes before even taking off is one thing. I'm okay with being delayed and understand these things happen and you have no control. What I don't understand is if you have a flight(s) that's delayed, you would think most companies will do anything and everything to make up for this, if possible. We ended up landing in Denver about fifteen minutes after original time and then had a plane in our gate so we were told it could be as long as twenty minutes. Thirty minutes later we were then waiting to have someone direct the plane into the gate. Forty-five minutes later we finally pull into our gate only to wait another fifteen maybe twenty minutes to have someone move the shoot closer to the plane and then open the door. A customer service manager was supposedly the only one that could perform this difficult task. It just seemed as if Frontier was providing us passengers with excuse after excuse that made no sense to anyone with half a brain. I finally got off the plane at 12:26 a.m. and I was in row five! So an hour and a half later roughly for everyone else AFTER already being forty minutes late departing Cleveland. I would be calling whoever I needed to repeatedly if I were the pilot or even co-pilot because most know that to get and retain customers FOR LIFE, you need to have and/or provide your customers as best as you POSSIBLY can when a situation like this arises. A lady sitting across the aisle from me said it was because Frontier is sharing gates with another company and still trying to get everything worked out. I don't care if that's the case or not but it needs to be worked out prior to putting your customers through such turmoil regardless the time of day or night it may be!"
Cons: "Flight was delayed, boarding the plane was harder than it had to be, most seats are just not comfortable for people over six feet. Had to wait more than 20 minutes to deplane."
Pros: "The leg room was comfortable."
Cons: "The seat did not recline back. It is difficulty to sleep sitting up in a chair. Pre-boarding requires you to pay for a seat and carry on luggage. The snacks were not free."
Pros: "The crew was excellent and the flight was on-time."
Pros: "Hub was centrally located in Denver between the Rocky Mountains!"
Cons: "Every thing is an upcharge! Not even the carry-on bag is free! If you are in the habit of taking a carry-on when you travel (like most of us do), add another $80 charge to your round trip ticket. The only free drink on the plane is water. Soft drinks are $2, chips/peanuts/munchies are $2 and so forth! All window and isle seats are another $20-40 upcharge. I chose not to pay upcharge for an economy seat and ended up in a middle seat towards the tail of the aircraft! By the time I paid for my carry-on and premium seat on the return flight, my trip became as expensive as business class but got a very bottom deader service! Avoid this airline!"
Pros: "On time. No news means good news with traveling"
Cons: "Can't get a free drink and snack"
Pros: "All conduct was very good."
Cons: "No food, no tv, no magazines"
"Didn’t even get to use the flight because Spirit sucks ass."
"See earlier remarks"
Pros: "I liked getting off the plane and leaving those incompetent employees behind."
Cons: "First, I was charged an extra $55 for an overweight bag when I’d already paid $30 to check it in the first place. Then, every employee I encountered acted like a miserably underpaid two year old who was forced to be there. Slight advice: if you didn’t make the price of the flights so “cheap,” you wouldn’t have to overcharge for any and everything else related to the stupid flight. The incompetent, unpleasant employees just added insult to injury. THE worst airline I’ve ever had the displeasure of flying with."
Pros: "The stuetist."
Cons: "I used the kiosk to check in. But I still had to wait for everyone in line to drop my bag. We waited 14 minutes. Then the lady was talking to her coworker and not us. We spent 30 minutes just checking in before security. Then our seats were suppose to be together. After talking with the guy at the gate to get our seat assignments. We were sitting on opposite sides of the plane. So much for our anniversary trip together. I purchased 2 tickets together. So we would be next to each other. Worse flight experience."
Cons: "I paid extra to pick my seat. My row was not full and before take off they put a rather large man in the middle seat of my row. I told the attendant why did she choose this row when there are so many open seats. She was rude and said - this is the seat I have chosen and that is final. The mad DID NOT pay like I did to pick his seat. He just banked on getting a randomly selected good seat or the attendant to help get a new seat. WHY DID I PAY EXTRA when other can just choose their own seat. This makes no sense and was the last straw for me for Spirit. They nickel and dime you - but it really doesn't matter."
Pros: "Crew was nice"
Cons: "Spirit is the below cheep. The seats are bare basic do not lend back even a little. They advertise as the low rate fare, but by the time you add in the carry on luggage fee, I could have used a different carrier. They charge even for water $3.00 for tiny bottle. The planes rattle during take off and landing. I would only fly Spirit again if I had an emergency to get to and had no other choice. I would pay 50.00 for a better plane. They put two more rows of seats in their plane-cramped, cramped"
Pros: "I had very low expectations of Spirit Airlines... from their reputation and things I read online. But my family and I had a GREAT experience yesterday. Our bag check process went smoothly and the staff was very courteous. Everything went smoothly for boarding and my husband, my son and I all sat together in the same row. Everything couldn't have went smoother and i really wondered what all the fuss was about Spirit airlines??? We had a really great experience and would do it again. Can't beat the price, even if you pay to check a couple of bags ahead of time."
Pros: "The flights themselves were pretty easy and on time."
Cons: "We were traveling with a 2 year old and it was our first time purchasing him his own seat. We did tons of research to figure out the most efficient way to travel with our little guy and decided to bring his car seat on the plane since he travels so well in it. As long as there's a tag or some sort of label on the car seat stating that it is approved for air travel you can use it in a regular plane seat. The first boarding agent was completely unaware of this rule and acted like he was gonna make us check it at the gate. My husband insisted that he would not do that and that it was allowed, so the guy said "well you can try, but it's probably gonna get checked". Once we were on the plane, no one said another word. Feeling like pros by the time we were boarding our return flight home, we installed the car seat in the middle so we could sit on either side as we had on the way to our vacation. This time the flight attendants informed us that we had to install the car seat in the window as it could block the person sitting in the window seat from an easier escape in an emergency. Again, my husband explained that the person in the window seat would be me and that we had installed it in the middle on the way to our vacation, so she said "oh, okay then". Minutes later a second flight attendant came through telling us the same rule but enforced it. While I can appreciate their reason for the rule and the fact that they eventually enforced it, I was baffled at how many employees did not even know their own rules about car seat travel!"
Cons: "Did not like that it feels like a bait/switch to shop for flights, then highly up charged for things that should be included. Like being charged to check in... Isn't that covered when a ticket is purchased?? I purchased through Kayak and find out later that we can save money by doing everything ourselves online or at kiosk. Then watch all staff sit around and socialize while we over pay. Why have a staff at all? I had to pay to sit in exit seat then asked to assist in emergency. If occupying those seats... Why do we have to pay extra? I guess not what I had in mind. I will choose different airline next time. I paid more to fly my bags than it cost to fly myself. Don't understand!"
Cons: "Being charged for baggage"
Pros: "The crew was very polite and professional. The in flight experience was fantastic excluding my lack of comfort. A seat in front of me remained reclined the entire time during take off and descent. It was unacceptable and it limited my leg room completely."
Cons: "Our flight was delayed several hours and the "apology" given was a $50.00 voucher. I wasn't impressed because frankly after that experience I am not excited to fly Spirit again. As a busy professional, my time is valuable. This trip was a vacation and I lost essentially an entire day of my vacation due to the delays. We paid the additional money for advanced boarding which was never called at the gate. We were later told that this was included with "handicap and people needing assistance." There should be a requirement to call those with advanced boarding. We do not need assistance and therefore did not know to board early. I was very disappointed in my experience with spirit."
Pros: "The flight attendants were friendly and the airplane was very clean. The space underneath seats was roomy enough that I could easily fit my bag. Flight was very affordable, especially for a holiday weekend."
Cons: "I did not like that I was forced to create an account with Spirit to check in for my flight. I have never had to do that with any other airline, and the experience was frustrating. I also would appreciate if they would give water for free in flight. I understand their policy is to require customers to pay for extras, but water would be nice. There was also no explanation about which security line to get in when I bought the "bypass security" option and no one to ask when I arrived at security until I had gone through the full line. An explanation when the ticket is purchased would be helpful."
Cons: "We were delayed for about three hours but there were no announcements or screens displaying that information. There was no indication that we were even at the correct gate. People had to walk up one at a time and ask to confirm what was happening and that we were all at the correct gate. Two hours after our flight was supposed to take off, there was finally an announcement letting us know that there was a delay and our gate would be changed so we needed to move out of the way so another flight could use the gate, but not to too far because they didn't know when or where our flight would be leaving from. It was chaotic and disorganized for no reason. I understand that delays happen but the lack of communication was unacceptable."
Cons: "I bought this ticket directly from spirit. They scheduled my connection such that it would have been impossible to make. Apparently this was an "unforeseeable circumstance", so I was offered no accommodations even though there were no alternate flights available until two days later. The agent I spoke with changed his story about what could be done every time we spoke, and when I requested a refund, he was unable to print a receipt or any kind of confirmation paperwork or email whatsoever to prove to me that my ticket had been refunded. He was also unable to tell me the amount of the refund. I simply had to take his word for it that Spirit would process my refund for an unknown amount within 5 business days. Needless to say, i have doubts. This was absolutely unacceptable. I was forced to pay for an alternate flight on a different airline, and pay for an airport hotel for the night. I am beyond furious with spirit airlines and I have received unimaginably terrible customer service."
Cons: "The price of the flight was relatively inexpensive, however, after paying for a second carry on, checked bag and overweight checked bag (40 lbs not 50 lbs), this flight was WAY more expensive than other carriers with the same luggage. The bag fees were never explained during the booking process. The flight was delayed almost 2 hours due to other Spirit delays to Ft. Lauderdale, thus, instead of paying hotels and rebooking Spirit customers, Spirit decided to wait until every passenger boarded -- not caring that customers were missing connections in Denver. The ticket agent in Ft. Lauderdale was a right miserable so and so. I'll never use Spirit again."
Cons: "I know Spirit offers low fares and in return you pay for everything else, seats, carry-on bags, boarding passes (if you don't print yourself), drinks, etc. In knowing this I did my due diligence before this flight to make sure I wasn't going to be charged for things like the size of my purse (I measured it), etc. Upon check in for this flight, I was informed that I owed $30 because my checked bag was 43 lbs and Spirit has a weight limit of 40 lbs. The other customers in line were just as shocked. To me, the standard is 50 lbs. With that being said, in my research on Spirits website this was not clear. I think this sort of fee should be much more prominent. I am a "prepar-er" if you will and for me to not know this charge was coming tells me Spirit most likely makes a lot of money off of passengers regularly having to pay this unexpected fee at check in. The ticketing agent told me it happens daily after I asked him. This feels a bit like a scam, in my opinion. Spirit will say "It's on our website" and I'm sure it is but again, I don't feel like this charge for a weight that's standard is 50 lbs is clearly called out to passengers. I'm fine with no frills, I'm not fine with unexpected charges that I feel are under the radar until the 11th hour when you have no choice but to pay or repack. Uncool, spirit."
Pros: "The flight crew were very nice and professional"
Cons: "The check in process was horrific. Their website was not working so I was forced to spend more to print my boarding pass at the airport. I had no idea Spirit was going to be so uncomfortable. I really think a disclaimer in large print should be available prior to booking with them. Something like Attention: the flight you are about to book comes with very small, unpadded seats crammed closer together than most airplanes. You will be physically touching every person you sit next to. Even if you are a skinny person. The seats do not recline there is no Wi-Fi or on board entertainment. You will be nickel and dime to death so that in the end you won't actually be saving as much money as you tjought."
Pros: "We got there. Eventually."
Cons: "First of all, delays. Both flight we took for this trip were delayed, one by a good 7 hours, the other almost 2. That's a rate of 100% for us. During the wait, no explanation, or worse, some BS about the weather. The other companies did not experience any delay due to weather... The flight attendants might as well not be there. At least we wouldn't have to suffer stupid jokes. You get what you pay for, however in this case when you tally up all the fees it is not that much cheaper. Last, the website is downright crappy, starting with password security, to layout and speed. Getting anything done is a chore, and the policies are of course well hidden. I don't think we'll fly spirit ever again."
Pros: "On the opposite side of the helpful/friendly spectrum -there was one employee who heard my story and offered to let me use one of his free flights if I was charged for some reason. He waited while I went through the ticketing process again. That was VERY generous. I wish I had taken his name down."
Cons: "Did not receive a notification that my gate had changed to an entirely different terminal and I missed my flight. There was no way to even know/find where my new gate was located. They only had one Spirit employee at the gate that was on my ticket and she was busy checking the people in for another flight. Ladies at the correct gate were not friendly or helpful. Paid $200 to stay overnight in a hotel and I missed a day of work. The check-in/ticketing area for Spirit was a madhouse."
Pros: "Terrible experience. didnt like much other than the plane was newer. Stewards on plane were nice."
Cons: "We did not have to pay for a carryon bag on departing flight. However, agent for return flight would not let us go through security unless our boarding pass indicated we paid for a carryon. So we had to pay $110 for two carryons. When we were boarding, the gate agent indicated those that paid for carryons could board before those that did not pay for carryons. Apparently, not everyone paid for their carryon, but were forced to pay $110 or we couldnt go through security. We will never fly Spirit again."
Cons: "My flight was delayed 4 hours. The connecting plane then left without several passengers that were headed to Seattle. We were not notified that the flight was leaving without us. The employees were extremely rude and showed no remorse that we missed our flight because of their delay. We were given no options, just told we would have to deal with it. They refused to refund our flight or help with finding us a different flight home. We slept on the floor of the airport until the next day and took a different airline home. I will never fly this airline again. Their service is dispicable."
Cons: "My flight to LAX was delayed due to tech problems. Staff lied and said it was weather, found out later from pilot it wasn't. Missed my connecting int'l flight, had to pay $450 out of pocket. Spirit doesn't want to reimburse and instead offered $50 voucher. $50?? That is how much they charge for 1 bag. Ridiculous. My first experience with Spirit and may be the last unless they reimburse me. In LAX they make you check in "online" on a kiosk (presumably to save you time), then make you wait in line for another hour to drop your bag off. WTH? What's the point of that charade? Worst check-in experience of my life. This airline won't last long if they treat people this way. Their own staff appeared miserable and on the verge of homicide or suicide. No wonder."
Pros: "hmm, you got me to and from my destination."
Cons: "On both outbound and return flight I could not print my boarding pass. First your website made me change passwords, which was frustrating b/c the process did not work the first few times. Then I could not print my boarding pass, it just said "loading something awesome". It was not awesome to try several times and never print the boarding pass. So I arrive at the airport and they told me the flight was oversold and that I should have printed my boarding pass earlier. This occurred on both departing as well as returning flights."
Pros: "First we are flying due to a death in the family. We pay $60 per ticket. Next we get to the airport to check in to find out we had to pay for our seats even after we pay for our seats already. Then we find out that our small carry in bags are another fee. $55 dollars for each bag. So needless to say we had questions so we decided to check in at the counter in person. Oh she answers our questions the. Proceeded to tell us that because we checked in at the counter (because of questions and hidden fees) there was another fee of $10 person passenger. So we get onto the plane. To find out that if you want anything including water, it's at lease another $3.00. For water? Are you kidding? Then we get comfortable in a plane that is sized for a small child. The hear not once, not twice, but three times about a credit card. I am appalled to be bugged three times about a personal finance. Jeez. I didn't pay that much money to be sold on a credit card. I would expect this from a time share. And finally when the plan landed it actually rattled. Sounded like the wings were going to fall down off. So needless to say you have lost our business. We will never fly with Spirit again and neither will my family members."
Cons: "I flew spirit to Detroit last week, and after getting delayed 18 hours I finally made it. Now, currently sitting at the airport, my spirit flight home to Denver has been canceled at least 10 minutes after we were suppose to have boarded. I have been at the airport for 5 hours and have been yelled at to stay back from the counter and not to ask questions or else we would just be delaying the process. After about 2.5 hours of waiting, we finally got a number to call to re-book, which still took over an hour. This has been THE WORST airline experience I have ever had. If I were representing this airline I would be ashamed of the horrible service it provides. I genuinely believe I deserve a full refund for my flight (even if it was re-booked)... not just given an apology voucher because I promise I will never fly spirit again."
Pros: "About the only thing that I can say I liked is, the boarding process went smothly for me & my luggage was on time."
Cons: "Where to start... paid more in bag fees & to get an isle seat for each(4)flights than I did for damn plane ticket! Flights delayed 4hrs another flight in same trip delayed 2 hours. Staff wasn't interactive/friendly I'd say 6/10 were nice. Asked for an isle seat the person helping at counter, said I'd have to pay to upgrade. Seriously- upgrade for isle seat!! I paid to have an isle seat on all 4 flights(I'm a disabled vet who was injured in the line of duty) I need easy access to toilets I'm unable to crawl over people, in turn need idle seat). Paid for isle seat all 4 flights- just to see the flights were super empty, people were sitting where they wanted anyway. Thanks for taking my $ for the seats tho spirit:-|. Staff wasn't that friendly compared to other airlines I've flown on. Not food. No entertainment on flight. Not worth it. If they don't do better business they won't last long I feel. There is potential just needs some work!"
Cons: "I chose this airline because it had the lowest cost....I thought. Then when I went to check-in online I discovered that I would have to pay extra for my seat. Not just preferential seating, but any seat. And since I didn't check in until a few hours before boarding the only options left were $18 seats. The airline website said that I didn't have to pay for seats and they'd assign them when I got to the airport, but there was no guarantee I'd sit next to my husband. Will never fly this airline again for that reason."
Cons: "I didn't like the baggage policy. I didn't like the check in policy or the fact that they don't support TSA precheck because they hope to sell you on an additional fee that will get you through a prority lane. I didn't like the seats which are hard plastic, close together, and don't recline. I didn't like the mini tray table that wouldn't support my laptop so I couldn't work. I didn't like that Spirit falsely advertises with the tag line "LESS MONEY, MORE GO" when the base fare for my connecting flight on this sub-par airline was more expensive than a direct flight on a better airline-before the other fees were added."
Pros: "The price initially"
Cons: "The spirit luggage check in delayed me (the 120 minutes early I was there) before the flight - standing in line - by the time I got to the ONE gate agent she said I was too late to catch the flight and admitted it wasn't my fault but I would have to pay an additional $170 to book the next flight which was the following morning. Down hill from there. It took me an hour waiting on hold to speak to someone on the phone. The representative & then her supervisor could care less, by that time the rebooking charge had gone up to $215. It cost me $300+ to last minute book a low price room for the night, taxi back and forth from the airport (I had already returned my rental car). That doesn't include the return flight I paid for on a different airline or the refund I should have recieved for the RT trip I already paid for. Shameful (non)service spirit!!!"
Pros: "Not much good to say about this. We didn't crash and we did arrive on time. That's it."
Cons: "Firstly, I arrived at the airport 2 hours before my scheduled departure. For whatever reason there were some 400 people in line for the bag drop (200 in line, and 200 more in the pre-line which I sh!t you not was a thing) and since spirit always takes 15 minutes a person for this process that should take 15 seconds I barely managed to finish up by the time my plane was boarding. Of course I was then told my flight would be departing from a different terminal and had to sprint to make it by the time the door was about to close. And I doubt I need to bring up the uncomfortable and cramped conditions found on every spirit flight (though they were particularly unbearable for a flight of this length) but here we are. Since my attemp to arrive early and buy dinner in the airport had been thwarted by spirits incredibly slow line system, I starvingly decided to buy a snack box. This consisted of almonds, fruit snacks, crackers and a mint that were fine, as well as cheese spread that was the consistency of water and Oreos that were somehow soggy. In case the hangry tone of this review doesn't give it away, I'm was left very dissatisfied by this BS waste of money. Spirit airlines MAY save you a couple of bucks (only if you buy your bags online ahead of time and maybe not even then), but they will probably cause you severe mental trauma and may shorten your life by 4-6 years."
Pros: "It was a direct flight to Cleveland... and it APPEARED to be cheaper than a more traditional airline."
Cons: "Let's start with your website, which never functioned -- except to book my ticket. 30 minutes and numerous tries to get a seat, to pay for a carry on bag & the same "unable to process at this time" response. When I called, the gentleman lacked strong English as a second language skills -- and that ordeal took another 25 minutes. Nice as can be, but really struggled to figure out HOW to keep my seats, which were showing blocked + couldn't tell if the charge was processed. Then there's the lack of participation in the TSA Program, which means having to unpack three computers and ALL liquids... The cattle call boarding process -- even when you pay the upcharge. And the kinda crummy/dirty waiting area at LAX, from going through security so early -- to make sure I didn't miss my flight. The seats so lack support, I work up with a horrible back ache. Definitely bring a blanket or firm pillow -- if you have ANY back issues, which I don't. It's a start up airline, and they charge for everything but oxygen. So if you don't want to carry on, you don't mind the almost freight plane experience... This is probably a pretty good deal. AND they fly direct to Cleveland, which is always a good thing."
Cons: "Where do I begin? The price seemed reasonable until I arrived and they charged me $55 to CARRY-ON my bag. Would have been $55 to check it but I was afraid they would lose it. Then boarding the plane there was a sign saying "FIT CREW: We have the youngest crew of any airline". To me that says age discrimination and also inexperience. When I finally sat down, there was trash on my seat and also facial oil on the window. It was clear that they did not clean between flights. Sitting down, my seat was broken and reclined every time I leaned against it. I had a child about 5 years old behind me that was disturbing everyone in our area and the flight attendant never addressed the situation with their parent. When the child was slamming their tray up and down on the back of my seat, a stranger finally said something. Also, don't expect to even get water for free. $3 a pop! The landing was also extremely rough. Needless to say, I will never fly this airline again!"
Pros: "The crew was friendly."
Cons: "Both of our flights were delayed for two hours with no explanation. Other airlines didn't seem to be having the same problems. It is rediculous that they charge for bags and that they are the only airline with a 40 pound weight limit when all of the others are 50 pounds. They charge $10 just to print the boarding passes at the airport. All of this they claim saves you money on the fare, but with all of the nickel and diming that they do to you after you purchase the ticket, it is much more affordable to go with another airline. I will choose some one else to fly with next time."
Cons: "In the last 30 minutes of our flight we hit a HUGE patch of turbulence that dropped our plane a considerable amount of feet. It also rocked us all around and about and passengers were screaming because of the terrifying jolts and movements. After this very un-nerving turbulence had subsided Spirit airlines decided not to say one word to the passengers the rest of the flight. There was no voice at all that said, "well folks we apologize for not seeing that patch of turbulence," or "we apologize for how bumpy that was," or even a simple, "welcome to Denver" once we arrived. Spirit airlines did not take the simple steps in reassuring the customers that we were safe or taken care of and I was very uncomfortable being on board my flight. This flight has left a bad taste in my mouth and will choose to pay more next time for a SouthWest flight compared to a cheaper, sketchier, Spirit flight."
Pros: "Was able to get a flight on relatively short notice at a decent fare and without having to switch between carriers."
Cons: "Baggage restrictions and fees are absurd. Standard carry-ons are charged for (you can bring your one 'personal item' free of charge if it's small enough). A single checked bag is $51. Most carriers offer your first checked bag for free. Add $50 to your fare for a bag and see how competitive Spirit really is. No complimentary snacks or beverages---a soft drink is $3. Seats are very tight, unless you pay for an upgrade. Need to fly fast and don't need luggage, or expect basics like nuts and a cup of soda, then Spirit may be a cheaper carrier. Add the 'ala carte' items-like luggage-and the fare becomes average."
Cons: "On top of the long lines, the flight was cancelled without any explanation 20 minutes before boarding. We were forced to walk all the way back to the airport entrance, but weren't helped at the Spirit ticket counter. Instead, we were given a card with a phone number to call in order to try and book ourselves another flight. We weren't able to get a flight until the next day with a different airline. It was a very disappointing experience, which created a terrible start to our trip. We will never fly Spirit again due to the unprofessional manner in which we were inconvenienced."
Pros: "I fly Spirit when I need a ticket within 10 days because the price is always the cheapest."
Cons: "On this flight, I received an email saying the plane was delayed. When I got my boarding pass at the airport, it had the original time with no delay, so I checked the departure screen and it said delayed. The gate also said delayed BUT they were loading the plane at the original time. Most of us get on the plane before the door closed but we were unloaded back to the gate after 20 min because the plane engine had an error light that wouldn't turn off. It ended up being delayed 1.5hr. These things happen but it just makes the uncomfortable Spirit flight (I'm 6'3" and don't fit in the Spirit seats very well) that much worse. I didn't buy food or entertainment so those star ratings are not applicable to me."
Pros: "Overall this was a bad experience. Spirit forces you to pay $55 for a carry-on bag. I suppose I should have known this already, and I'm sure it was in the fine print of my ticket. So partly my own fault. But when you add in all the fees Spirit nickel and dimes you for, you could have purchased a ticket with a better airline for same price. In addition, the boarding process was slow and the staff was unprofessional. The flight attendants were rude, the seats do not recline at all, and I could feel a hard metal piece inside my headrest. I asked for a pillow but the flight attendant said none were available. I will not be flying Spirit again unless there are absolutely no other options."
Pros: "The flight crew was entertaining and made jokes about how bad the level of comfort was. They also joked about the fact that Spirit is a "no frills" airline."
Cons: "Safety is, of course, the first priority. We arrived safely. The major issue I had was the lack of comfort. The seats no longer recline at all. In addition, there is almost a total absence of legroom. Seriously... There was more legroom in the back seat of an old school Mitsubishi Eclipse then there is on Spirit Airlines. Most important; however, is the width of the seats. The seats are so narrow and uncomfortable that they cause actual pain. It was so uncomfortable that many people on my flight ended up standing for almost the full 3 hours and 45 minutes. My son is 6 years old and he weighs 45 lbs. the seats for him perfectly. There was no hope that a fully grown adult could sit with even a modest degree of comfort. Spirit bills itself as a bare bones airline and claims to save the consumer money. Between the $10 charge per ticket to check in with a gate agent, to the "pay by the pound" system for checked luggage as well as carry on bags, to the $$$ every time you get a glass of water during the flight, Spirit Arline's doesn't pay. From now on, I'll spend the money up front so I can be on another airline. I'd rather pay up front than feel as if I'm being nickel and dimed. Also, spending up front will get me tickets on American, Delta, or United where the seats are at least bearable."
Pros: "The price was low to book, but read on, because it wasn't worth it."
Cons: "Absolutely terrible in all other respects. After delaying the flight for 20 minutes or so (due to "maintenance issues"), the employee came on and said that the flight was cancelled. Not that Spirit would bring a new plane so we could all still fly out. Not that they would be taking a little longer to fix the issue. No, just that it was cancelled. Then, when the herd of people went to the ticket counter to get new flights or refunds, no one was there for about 30 minutes. When they finally arrived, they were unwilling to compensate for my $30 taxi ride. And they were generally unkind and unhelpful. This is unacceptable; I will not book Spirit again. Thank you for your understanding."
Cons: "Flight was cancelled due to mechanical issues at 1030pm after waiting for 4 hrs. We were all sent to the front desk, got there, and no one came to help us for 30 min. The guy from the gate actually had to come up, I felt so bad for him. He gave - few people at the front of the line cards to call to rebook, but the phone number didn't work so I just called the help line. But most people didn't know and weren't told they could do that. Instead the guy helping us had us form two lines, one for rebooking and one for refund that didn't move for the next half hr. They didn't tell anyone in the line they could call someone so they just waited. The worst is that they told everyone Spirit would not be offering accommodations. It really seemed like a "we aren't going to deliver the product we promised and good luck figuring out what you'll do now." By the end of it, I was just happy to get a flight for the next night. I'm not sure what happened with everyone else once that flight was filled because there were no others. Between the astronomical bag prices and the worst customer service I've ever seen, I won't be flying with Spirit ever again."
Pros: "Some of the crew members were friendly. The other half were not."
Cons: "Spirit dropped us off in Grand Junction with no TSA agent and no information given for 7 hours-no ground transportation options, no hotel offering, no food voucher, and NO ONE there to even tell you how screwed you were. Absolutely unacceptable. We were en route to Denver and told the weather was bad so we landed in Grand Junction. Our baggage was left on the plane and we were told before exiting that another crew was on the way there to take over because the current crew had met their maximum hours. The onboard crew told us that the TSA agent inside would have more information for us. We exited the plane and entered a tiny airport with no gate agent and two security guards struggling to answer our questions. We were told that we had more information than they did. Then we waited. For seven hours we waited. No information at all. Our entire flight crowded the tiny cafe that had just closed, forcing them to open out of the kindness of their hearts. They weren't ready for that kind of volume so simple burritos took an hour and a half to receive. After three hours pizza arrived...from where (possibly Spirit, but doubtful) we don't know, but most of us and already ordered from the cafe. We watched the hours fly by with no one telling us anything. I called Spirit's 800 number four times before finally reaching a real person. That real person put me on hold and finally after fifteen minutes told me that he had no information about any rescue crew coming to take us to Denver. He was supposed to be the one with information, right?!!! Long story short, we left LA at 1pm and after being rerouted, we finally arrived in Denver at midnight. Biggest joke of all was when we landed, I received a voicemail that my bag was waiting for me in Denver. How is that possible, I wondered. Turns out, my bag missed my initial flight, caught a later flight, and luckily (ha!!!) our flight was rerouted for 7 hours so my bag got there before me. If the fact that you get a tiny discount for booking Spirit, but then pay through the nose for carry-on bags, checked baggage, printing your boarding pass if you forgot to (really???), any and every beverage and food item...isn't bad enough (does everyone realize Spirit is more expensive in the long run??? I do now!) Life is too short to fly Spirit. Period. Pay the extra $15 for a real airline. Oh...and my fiance had to uninstall and then reinstall his seat belt buckle because it was improperly put together. Seat belts were flimsy, seats don't recline, seats look like polyurethane over folding chairs. I can't say enough about how horrible the Spirit experience is."
Pros: "The plane got me to my destination and back without major incident"
Cons: "I bought my ticket through Kayak thinking what a great deal! But what I didn't know is that they would then nickel and dime you the rest of the way. When I went to check in I found that I needed to pay $40 if I wanted to bring a carry-on (each way! I suppose it's possible I was going to leave my bag somewhere?) and then had to pay to pick a seat. None of the seats were actually free, which leads me to believe my original ticket price was like a cover to a very overpriced and boring club. Nothing else is included, not even water, so either prepare to pay onboard or be well-stocked (but not too well-stocked, because if your bag is over weight you have to pay more.) The planes themselves were old and rickety and made some weird noises, which didn't inspire much confidence. The spirit credit card was pushed on me multiple times through my online check-in, my additional seat/bag purchases (note: don't offer someone a credit card while they're already annoyed at your company) as well as throughout the flight. I finally fell asleep only to be woken by a long, blaring pitch to sign up for a credit card. This was my first and last trip with Spirit."
Pros: "Overall the web site looks like it was successfully intended to be attractive and it contains all the needed info."
Cons: "*Promising to answer a question "within 48hrs" is NOT OK when it is about checking in. *We SHOULD NOT have to register in order to be able to check in. Why is more than conf # and name needed unless it is to be shared or sold? *The needed info is scattered in many places on the site eg bag size, weight, and prices. *I was charged the "at checkin" price when I used the add baggage link before starting to check in; b/c I was within 24hrs? Purposely didn't start to check in yet so I wouldn't get the higher price."
Pros: "One lady was the only help in Fort Lauderdale out of every single part of our round trip."
Cons: "Showed up almost an hour early to Cleveland airport to fly to another state. The lady tried telling us we missed our trip because she made us go to the kiosk to only get denied by the kiosk and having to go back to her for her to deny us until we flipped out making her realize it's her fault. Charged us extra for carry on baggage because the checked baggage "wouldn't make it." Writing that in a note that we were late...even though it was her fault we were. Our tickets were 218 dollars each we ended up paying 200 dollars for our baggage because you have to pay for both trips which is another round trip ticket to Florida because the lady never told us in Cleveland that we had to buy both ways. Everything on the plane to order was a cost not even water was complimentary. On the way back we got to the airport two hours early to find no one at the counter to help us at the gate...she showed up only about 30 minutes before we boarded, real professional...but we cut our vacation by an hour and a half because we "have to come 90 minutes ahead" to find none of the spirit crew members to be even present. Everything was inconvenient with this airline and not pleasant. Only positive was a lady in Fort Lauderdale that helped us figure out our luggage and did what she could to save us a bit of money. We will never take this airline again."
Cons: "Their web-site is horrible! Tried multiple times to get my bags pre-checked and seat selected. Never worked. Refused two different credit cards that worked fine at the airport. But at that point I was charged extra due to the delay and needing to have things handled by a counter person. Also had trouble getting my boarding pass printed. The web site kept circling back to the same "Print your boarding pass" page. Tried calling customer service. Was routed through a maze of choices that never offered talking to an actual person. Finally found a way to trick the system and couldn't understand the accent. Will never fly Spirit again if there is any other choice. Hassles are not worth the potential cost savings."
Pros: "I am a disabled veteran and I was forced to wait in security twice for over an hour each time because Spirit doesn't allow you to use your emailed boarding pass like ANY OTHER AIRLINE. I have over 20 flights that I will be taking in the next 4 months and I will not be flying with this airline. I'd like to meet whoever runs this airline and have some words with them on how to run a successful business. Everyone I know knows not to fly Spirit. Now I do too. The price can be beat 9/10 times on in a better airline."
Cons: "This was one of the worst flight experiences of my entire life. I had to pay almost $200 in extra fees, which included everything from checked bags, carry on bags AND seat selection. Their website is awful! It took me over 2 hours plus 2 customer service phone calls before I was able to check in for my flight. Completely disorganized at the airport. Under staffed. We arrived 2 hours early and barely made our flight. We were in lines so long we barely had time to use the restroom, let alone find any kind of food for the flight. Upon boarding, I witnessed one of the flight attendants being extremely rude and hostile to a female customer who was talking to her friend about how bad her Spirit experience was. A supervisor came back and instead of reprimanding the rude flight attendant, she told all of us that if the flight attendant didn't feel "comfortable" with any of us, we would be "removed" from the flight! The flight was delayed because they closed the cabin doors before 10 additional customers were able to make it through their ridiculous lines. Instead of apologizing for their incompetence, they blamed the customers for being late, despite the fact that at least one of them initially arrived at the same time we did (2 hours before the flight)! Oh and the flight itself was rickety as hell with screaming babies everywhere. I'm absolutely DREADING the return flight home. This is the worst airline ever and should be shut down as soon as possible."
Pros: "The flight itself ( time, taje-off, landing etc) were fine."
Cons: "They promote themselves as an "unbundled" airline so you don't pay for unwanted features. But they don't tell you that you then must pay for carry-on luggage at $50.00 per piece at the airport. On our return flight I went online to pre-purchase the luggage at $40 per piece but the system would not accept my PMT. I called customer svc to pay over the phone. He said "that will be $55.00 EACH. This is for CARRY ON luggage that is free on every other airline. I paid the $50 at the airport which made them MUCH more costly than any other airline."
Pros: "I flew Round-Trip LAX-CLE-LAX. Flight from CLE to LAX left on time and even arrived about 40 minutes ahead of schedule."
Cons: "I flew Round-Trip LAX-CLE-LAX. Flight from LAX to CLE was almost 3 hrs. delayed & we could not get a straight answer as to why. My biggest complaint is this airline needs to be much more transparent about the ACTUAL cost of flying w/ them versus what they advertise! It is ridiculous to have to pay $55.00 each way for a carry-on! For that same additional $110.00 I could have flown on a better airline that didn't have hidden fees, didn't try to check my carry-on at a higher rate & then get upset when I made them fix the error, didn't stick me in a cramped flying cattle car (more or less) with tiny seats that didn't even recline. The counter agents at LAX were helpful & friendly but not so at CLE. The agent there seemed very annoyed & was the one making the aforementioned error. I will NOT fly this airline again & wouldn't be surprised to see them go out of business."
