Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "Boarding easy and not rushed. Crew friendly and laid back - didn’t seem uptight. Nice aircraft. For a long flight, it was surprisingly easy."
Cons: "Economy space is still so cramped for a long flight. Food was fine and what would be expected. Not remarkable."
Cons: "All passengers had to board 40 minutes earlier than departure time. The air plain door was closed 10 minutes before departure. No reason we had to board earlier. All passengers are only 15-20 people..."
Cons: "Flight was delayed 1 hour. We still managed to make our scheduled rendezvous."
Pros: "Air Canada crews continue to be friendly, polite and proactive, and definitely earn their best-in-North-America ranking."
Cons: "I haven't flown AC in a while, but I remember this flight having dinner service and cookies + ice cream. While the printed menus themselves have improved, I would have preferred dinner service over breakfast especially as those with connecting flights get another breakfast no matter how short."
Pros: "Good entertainment options"
Cons: "Sat near the back. Air Canada has installed new seating on this route that is absurdly close together, with truly the most inhospitable seat shape and unforgiving cushions. For a 5 hour flight, it was awful. My back hurts."
Pros: "That we eventually got a flight home."
Cons: "Being stuck in Boston and Ottawa for 2 extra days and adding around $1200 on to our trip in hotels alone (I was travelling with 4 kids on a school trip and my wife). Additionally, we didn’t find out the flights were cancelled until we arrived at the airport. Apparently, they had been cancelled 2 hours before but there was no notification. Air Canada offered no help whatsoever and the guy at the “service” desk in Boston literally said there was nothing he could do to help. Not even find a new flight. Spent 90 minutes on the phone trying to re-book, plus re-booking hotel along the way."
Pros: "Had an empty middle seat between my window seat and my friend's aisle seat which was nice on such a long flight."
Cons: "This was my first intercontinental flight on Air Canada and I was surprised at how meager their meal and entertainment offerings were. Every other airline I've flown between North America and Asia gives bigger meals and more free entertainment to help pass the considerable flight time."
Pros: "The seating was good and the pilot was friendly."
Cons: "There was not a good movie selection and there was not a lot of information regarding the altitude and there was not very much warning during turbulence."
Cons: "crew was rude and unhelpful with delayed flight"
Cons: "My direct flight was cancelled and rebooked with a connecting flight."
Pros: "Arriving safely. Very smooth landing."
Cons: "The same issue regarding no bottled water. Very turbulent flight. My bag and contents were damaged and Air Canada agent is stating that it is NOT covered!!!!!!!!"
Pros: "Air Canada Rouge is last airline choice I would make"
Cons: "direct flight"
Cons: "The flight was delayed twice causing us to miss our connecting flight to Copenhagen. Air Canada then put us on a flight to London and then connecting to Copenhagen we arrived at 4 PM instead of 10AM ."
Pros: "A short flight on a small plane.Smooth flight, smooth, smooth landing. Although the flight was delayed, the passengers were kept informed as to where the plane was and the expected time of departure."
Cons: "One hour late"
Cons: "Flight was delayed"
Pros: "We flew Toronto to Milan"
Cons: "Air canada doesn't know how to run an airline and should stop trying. They are hurting all of their passengers, and they do not care."
Cons: "We were already running late when during take off, one of the engines malfunctioned and we had to emergency break on the runway and go back to the gate. Because it was unexpected, we had to wait even longer for a gate to become available. We then had to re go through customs and get our bags then wait in line again at the counter to schedule our flight for the next day. Thankfully we were given a hotel room and money for food. Very scary experience overall on the runway, but they tried to handle it as smoothly as possible under the unusual circumstances."
Cons: "The flight was late."
Cons: "THe food as usual on AC flights is only passable. . The warm rolls as advertised are ice cold. Some of your flight attendants can often be rude to customers and many could benefit from attending Weight Watchers as they can scarcely make it down the aisles and often bump into customers."
Pros: "The flight was smooth and on time. For the most part crew was friendly."
Cons: "I'm 5'2" med. built and felt the seats cramped with little leg space. My seat had cold water dripping down onto my head and neck from the vent above the window. The flight attendant's response was "it will stop after a little bit". Disappointing."
Pros: "All was well. Thanks"
Cons: "Lost suitcase"
Cons: "Not aconfortable plane"
Pros: "Boarding process was good"
Cons: "No free snacks offered"
Pros: "The ONLY part of flying Air Canada that I used to like was your partnership with SAS, over the past ten years I have lost more airtravel points through Star Alliance troubles than I could have made in the decade before. Luckily when I fly from my birth place of St. John's NL, you're ground staff are the absolute best! I can give "shout outs" to each and every one of them. From those ready for retirement to the new staff just in from "who knows where", they get the whole "customer service" priority that your airline needs to focus on. Your management in Halifax "Sharon" is out of this world too, other than that whether through Lufthansa, Air Canada or anywhere I would travel, seeing that red leaf on your wing would make me ashamed to be Canadian."
Cons: "I paid extra for a seat to ensure leg room, all I got was ear ache! The flight - although half empty had no place for my briefcase, but I was "ordered" to push my sealskin bag under the dirty greasy seat in front of me. When I requested they store it upfront for take-off & landing - the french female steward started flirting with the man sitting next to me and didn't even offer a response. When drinks came around - I was handed a half empty glass with juice on it's exterior and borrowed a napkin from the next seat. Later I did get a napkin "thrown gently" over the person she enjoyed speaking with. I was happy to wait until connecting passengers disembarked before the local traffic, but was appalled when the more senior female steward stopped a local passenger who I know has anxiety about flying - to insist she let the other passengers off first. Air Canada needs to be educated on what human behaviour entails, before they can graduate to customer service. Together with my first name, you can know my last name is Floyd"
Cons: "flight was delayed due to maintenance issues had to take 3 flights to get from rome to stl, would have been nice if it were only 2"
Pros: "Seats are comfortable and I had plenty of leg room."
Cons: "No snacks offered with drink. Boarding wasn't well organized. Toronto airport is horrible... long lines at customs and security caused me to miss my connection for the second time in a row."
Pros: "Air canada needs a serious serious overhaul of the way they treat their customers especially those working at the Toronto airport I find their employees have an "entitlement" mentality that other carriers do not Customer service seems to be a priority not talking to your coworkers about the weekend while serving your customers"
Cons: "There was one employee who suggested to take an earlier flight and was very helpful Little things go along way"
Cons: "Pilots we're late. Flight delayed until they arrived."
Pros: "Apart from food there was nothing great about the flight"
Cons: "The staff is the worst, the air hostesses are rude and treat you bad. The service is very poor."
Pros: "The plane flew in air and got us where we wanted to go but not on time"
Cons: "Everything else Breakfast a slice of banana bread !!! Nonchalant staff Getting water was trouble"
Cons: "Staff was rude. And I was seated next to an alchoholic"
Pros: "Good selection of free movies and shows on board. Some great and helpful flight attendants."
Cons: "The staff at check in were not overly helpful. We were running late and possibly going to miss our flight and they did not seem willing to help us out at all."
Cons: "They lost my luggage!!!"
Pros: "Great service, friendly staff. Good food and wine. On time arrival."
Pros: "The food was good. The flight attendant were helpful and cordial."
Cons: "We had to wit two hours on the tarmac because of a computer error."
Pros: "I thought that things ran very smooth and efficientlt"
Pros: "Lots of leg room. Friendly and helpful staff. Smooth flight and comfortable seats."
Cons: "We didn't like all the walking to get to and from the plane in Terminal 2, Heathrow. Anywhere else in the world would transport people by bus if it was going to be a twenty minute walk to the departure gate."
Cons: "Because of a three and a half hour delay on the first leg of the journey, I missed the overseas flight. They out me up in a hotel, but I had to wait 24 hrs for the next flight. There was no attempt to get me on another flight and so far no willingness to compensate me for the other travel I had to rebook."
Cons: "Had delays going to Toronto and returning to Columbus."
Pros: "Had to change initial flight due to passport problem. Customer support was excellent. The man who rebooked our flights (air canada representative) did an excellent job."
Cons: "Couldn't get ahold of anyone at the airline to reschedule"
Cons: "One flight cancelled and the rebooked flight was delayed 2 hours, causing us to miss connections. We ended up arriving in Montreal 9 hours after originally scheduled going from Columbus, Ohio to Montreal."
Pros: "They've replaced the ridiculous entertainment system with a much better one."
Cons: "Unwise cost-saving efforts in the Vancouver Maple Leaf Lounge - obscure magazines only, croissants/pastries replaced with a loaf of bread, etc."
Pros: "Very organized ,clean planes"
Cons: "Never made the flight"
Pros: "Everything went well. You made it easy"
Pros: "The flight attendant was well informed and quite helpful."
