If I get a seat in the back I’m waiting for everyone else to get on and then for them to get off the plane. I guess I’ll have to pay the $75 fee for “first class” next time since that’s the only way to update my seat. And if I have a “saver rate” ticket - I should be able to still change my flight within 24 hours. I wanted to come back a day earlier and it was the same price! But I would’ve had to cancel and repurchase for an additional $200!!!"

Cons: "If there was a less than one star that is what they deserve. SFO flight was late. They gave away my seat on my connection to Kalispell. They basically blamed me for being late and not being there on time. Two others from my flight were allowed to make the connection but told me that they gave my seat away because I was late. We all showed up at the same time from the late flight. I talked to 3 people including customer service and did not get a single “I’m Sorry”. Do they not communicate with each other when a flight is late and they have passengers for connections running late? They told me they don’t talk. The best they can do is put me standby for 9:30 flight and if I cannot get on that flight I have to wait until morning. My daughter is in a competition tomorrow morning and thanks to Alaska Airlines I’m going to miss it. I’m sitting here writing this review, paying for a dinner I should not be paying for and probably searching out a hotel room until morning when I can catch a flight. Unbelievable the lack of empathy."

There was also a communication breakdown between our crew and Seattle, almost causing us to deplane...luckily avoided at the last minute when Seattle changed their minds...ugh. NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE AT ALL."

Cons: "While traveling recently with Alaska Airlines, my traveling partner and I were offered seats in the exit row, by the lady who checks your boarding pass at the gate. We gladly excepted the roomier seating. We were issued new boarding passes, and made our way to our seats. Once we settled in, a flight attendant asked to see my boarding pass. She looked at it and said, "Yep Amber so-and-so, seat 17B." Apparently, the airline had combined 2 flights, so people were all crammed into a new tighter space. There was even a bumped "first class" customer all squabbling over the seats. My traveling partner and I, eventually just asked them to please give us our old seats back. Finally, we were seated in our original seats. We never asked to be moved in the first place, it was offered to us. The whole thing was humiliating, and unnecessary."

Cons: "I was sitting in the last row, next to the bathrooms. Since they did 4 in-flight beverages during the 5 hr flight, people kept getting stuck by the bathroom unable to get back to their seats. This seemed like an excessive amount of beverage services (contributed towards people needing to use the bathroom so much) and contributed to a bunch of people covering over my seat for most of the flight."
Pros: "The staff were very friendly and charismatic. The lady at the check-in desk moved our flight up to help us avoid delays. Everybody was extremely helpful about getting my wife a wheelchair and getting her on and off the plane. Everybody always had a smile. The flight itself was smooth...barely any turbulence and good landing."

The plane ride was nice with a free drink and potato chip plus a free movie. We noticed that our plane was not full. We were told our plane was sent to New Mexico (State) were a plane was canceled. So, I ask why is our plane being canceled to assist another plane in New Mexico at our expense? Why were they not impacted and we were?"

We were told our original plane was sent to New Mexico (State) were a plane was canceled. So, I ask why is our plane being canceled to assist another plane in New Mexico State at our expense? Why were they not impacted and we were? A couple was flying to Seattle to "Be with their dying son" and there was an urgency. They too had to wait nearly 4 hours more. Was the flight from New Mexico was on time? SHAME SHAME SHAME."

Further, and more importantly, I had the only seat with a broken entertainment system on a 6 hour flight. Worse, the screen was on a loop, where every 30 seconds it would flash bright white light in my face, making it impossible for me to sleep or even rest. I would chalk it up to an aberration, however, my entertainment system was similarly broken on my last Jetblue flight. I am very disappointed. One last issue - we had to stand waiting in line to board for no apparent reason 35 extra minutes. Not a huge deal, but not ideal at the end of a long day."

I didn't worry too much about charging my devices at my layover because I knew I could charge them on the plane. When I got on it was clear that there was no outlets, no video on the backs of seats, no devices being handed out for purchase. Nothing. I'm definitely used to more updated planes, but I would have been ok without the misinformation. I ended up on a 4 hr flight bored out of my gourd—which could have been avoided."

Cons: "Charlotte to Seattle flight: The food served in first class smelled awful. Seated in premium seating just behind first class was unfortunate due to the atrocious odor that lasted for 3+hours. There was no option for food service for the rest of the plane. Which was unfortunate as I was very hungry. Due to inconsistent notification that the plane was delayed / on-time (kept switching the notification) we opted to not get dinner in the airport..... To which the plane was was an hour late yet we were told to check in every ten minutes to see if we were boarding. There were no blankets. The plane was incredibly cold. The suggestion I received from the flight staff was to turn off the vent above my head (which I had already done.) I had brought a jacket and was wearing pants. On a 5.5 hour flight, the crew served beverages 45 minutes into the flight (per usual) and handed out a pretzel pack. They didn't come back through with water or beverages again. On other airlines, they promote water at least once an hour to keep swelling and dehydration down. Since I am a pretty frequent flier, I bring my own water. Still, coffee would have been nice. Suggestions: increase beverage service to at least twice / 5.5 hour flight and provide blankets upon request. Food choices and entertainment would also be good. Don't cook stinky dinners in first class and allow it to pollute the rest of the plane."

So our flight departed a whole day later and we missed a day of our vacation (we arrived at 7pm instead of 7am). I understand things happen but this was not weather related or a mechanical issue. This is simply poor personnel management. They should have a back-up plan if an employee falls ill. One that doesn't involve flying in an employee from another region of the country, let alone another state. The inefficiency continued on the return flight when it took a whole hour for the luggage to come out! Will avoid flying American again at any cost."

After we were checked in and ready to board I then got a call to notify me the flight was changed. Boarding was awful made me check small carry on when there was several open over-head compartments and several others were walking in with two + carry ons. How do you explain that? I will NEVER fly American Airlines again. The airplane from Dallas to Tampa was ancient, a little scary to even think it was still in the air. The air conditioning was minimal I could hear other passengers complaining it was extremely uncomfortable."

Was very disappointed with customer service and the way thinga were handled from the beginning. Frontier has really declined as of recent. I had a problem signing and I called Spirit and the customer service misleaded me to purchase the bags by phone. She said that by phone they have the best prices. I paid $60 for each bag, and online you pay around $40. They don't want to give me the money back. The worst customer service

A short time before the plane landed she moved us to seats near the front of the planes so we could be some of the first passengers off the plane. It was because of her that we made our connection. She went above and beyond."

They also group all their flights together, so there are 200+ ppl there, super long line just to drop off your luggage. Ft. Lauderdale back was bad experience, Spirit have their own terminal, but that means since they group their flights together, means... long time for bag drop, then super long line to check your id/ticket, super long time for security.... with everything going smoothly, actually took 1 hour before I get to the gate. Other airlines, is totally fine to get their 45mins-1 hr before. But with Spirit, probably need 1.5-2 hrs before. I was 1.5 hrs before, and I got to my flight right at boarding time.... not really TSA issue, is more of Spirits flight scheduling issue."

An e-mail telling me the flight was cancelled was sent to my home e-mail only after I had left for the airport. There was no text message to the smart phone number I had given them when I purchased the ticket. Other airlines do send text messages. When I suggested that to the Spirit representative, she was very dismissive and said notifying us was the responsibility of the booking site through we had purchased the flight. I felt a little sorry for the woman, but her attitude did not help her."
Cons: "I will avoid Spirit Airlines at all costs. First, there is the on-line bait and switch. You are quoted a price only to be told later that you have to pay $40 extra each way for even a small carry-on. You also learn that you have to pay a seat fee lest you be placed wherever they decide to put you. This is not disclosed up front--at least not prominently or in any obvious way. This borders on consumer fraud and the DOJ or Federal Trade Commission needs to take a look at this. If it is not fraud, it is clearly an unfair trade practice under Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act. The full price must be displayed up-front. If there are additional fees, those must be prominently displayed and calculated before you are allowed to commit to the purchase. My flight was cancelled and we had to wait approximately two hours in a long line while one person in a small office tried to re-book the passengers. When we got to the office, only then were we told that there were no more flights to our destination that day. By then all other flight alternatives had be taken. When I told a TSA officer my flight had been cancelled, she asked whether it was Spirit Airlines without my having indicated. When I said it was, in fact, Spirit, she said that was a common occurrence for that airline. I missed my grandmother's funeral the next day and incurred significant cancellation charges. If an airline is going to compete on price, the advertised price should be the actual price rather than merely bait."
