The warmth made it hard to sleep, which is a big problem on an overnight flight. JAL does not provide individual air vents to passengers seated where I was. The seats were standard airline economy seats, roomy enough and with enough legroom for my sub-6-foot frame, but not the most comfortable."

They served us with a cup of Haagen-Dazs icecream for dessert while a Fatboy is normally served by other airlines. I was impressed by how spacious the foot area of their economy seat is. Because I felt quite comfortable, I slept five hours straight during the flight which is phenomenal to me. I will definitely fly with JAL again!"

Cons: "We had a last minute flight change to extend my business stay in Asia. Our firm contacted JAL on 3/1 to extend the return date from 3/3 to 3/8. We were told that it was done and just call back on 3/7 to confirm flight. When we called back on 3/7, they said the flight was never rescheduled and could not find a voice recording of the request. Despite our offering of evidence of our other ticket from Osaka to TPE (3/3-3/8 round trip) showing that it was not a no-show, and we have phone records of calling JAL on 3/1. Nevertheless, their customer care center in CHINA was firm that it cannot be done. The money has been wasted. Ridiculous service for a 3,500 business class ticket."

During the returning flight, i asked for water for my grandma, flight attendant stared at my grandma, didnt say a word, and walked away then later came back with some water."

Cons: "The flight was cancelled. Eva did not send an additional plane. They excepts hundreds of people to go on standby waitlists for their one flight a day option to Taipei. All of which were full flights. They did not provide food vouchers or hotel vouchers. We were told to leave the airport and come back tomorrow with no solution. We had to rush the office and force them to get us on on other airlines to finally get home. If that didn't happen we would have been stuck in the airport for 5 days."

Cons: "Sat in the front row by the emergency doors. One would think the more legroom was better but the tray table comes out of the armrest, which means the armrest can't be lifted. Also the tv sits very low and you end up looking down at it instead of straight ahead. If, like me, you like to be near a window or at least be able to sneak a peek out of someone else's this spot isn't good. There isn't a convenient window anywhere near."

Cons: "My son & I traveled together on a trip from Manila to USA in Taipei. We had a 3 hour transit time, and waited by the gate of the flight from Taipei to USA. To exercise, I left the gate and walked around the terminal. Coming back to the gate, I could not enter because the ground stewardess blocked the entrance to the gate. I had to wait for 30 minutes until I finally was able to sneak thru the rope barrier that was placed there after the stewardess left. Then when I was confronted again, I explained my situation and this time she let me through to join my son, who was at the gate all this time."

Cons: "The food was terrible. I've flown on a lot of US-Asia carriers, and the options and quality of the meals on Eva are pretty sad. There are only ever two options for main courses; an Asian and Western one. One meal I had the fish was very tough, practically fossilized. The overall taste and look for all the meals were of substandard budget frozen meals you'd get at a 7-11. The side dishes are perfunctory, mostly inedible (usually some "charcuterie" of cheap, over-salted meat/fish on an afterthought of a salad, plus some weird gelatin mold with corn or whatever random cheap ingredient). The special order meals I had for my young children were pretty acceptable."

Cons: "Arrived late due to an accident on the road. In Kauai, there is some kind of policy where they shut down the road for 3 hours if there's a bad accident. There's only one road to the airport from the north to the south shore. We were stuck due to this and therefore barely made it on time. We tried to explain this to the staff and asked if they could get us through quicker or check us in so we wouldn't miss the flight, and they just said we were out of luck. Weren't helpful at all. After having to scan our bags a second time by the airline (after TSA), we were dead last in line, and were told we lost our seats because we didn't check in on time. Therefore we were seated apart, and I was put further back in the plane very close to the pregnant woman with gas and the babies who screamed the entire flight. I had a window seat originally and lost it due to no fault of my own. Someone else was also sitting in my newly assigned seat and when I asked the staff to help us sort it out, they actually asked me to move since he was with his wife. After getting on the plane, we were forced to check our bags that we just got on with and it was a major hold up for everyone trying to get seated. Then, after landing, exhausted, and ready to go home, we had to wait for the bags to come out of the checked baggage claim area. We waited 1 hour and 10 minutes to get our bags because they were dead last and there was some issue with the conveyor belt. This is really poor planning on their part and made the trip even more unenjoyable. To top it off, my girlfriend left her phone on the plane and it was turned in to the staff. When we drove an hour back to get it the next day we were able, we were turned away because they have some new and separate office that is only open during obscure hours that the staff weren't even aware of. We are still trying to figure out how to get the phone back and have called several numbers telling us to call other numbers. It shouldn't be this difficult. I know the phone is in there somewhere. Lastly, food was gross. Don't think airlines will ever get this right. It'd be better to just serve quality mixed greens salads as you don't have to microwave them and they'd be fresh."

When we got in on the other end the gate was unavailable and we were forced to wait another hour on the ground there. 9 FREAKING hours in that plane next to gal and her toddler in her lap... bummer for me, but this poor gal missed her connection to CLEVELAND... gave me a perspective of what REALLY SUCKS."

The attendants were sour pusses, not a smile among them. They gave attitude with their service. I kind of felt their pain with the 15-20 screaming toddlers that were uncomfortable and begging for help. How about getting rid of the first class area and making a day care area where children can move about rather than parents up and down the aisles sharing the misery with us all. Didn't have the courtesy to alert us to our baggage terminal. I don't think I will ever get used to paying for my small bag to be stowed rather than fill up the passenger area."

Smoking has been against the law on planes for decades, and I haven't seen an ash tray in decades."

At the airport in Maui, once we used the self-check-in to print our boarding passes and luggage check-in tags other airlines would have had someone take you luggage from you and you're done. Here, we now have to take our luggage and get into a long line where we then take it to another counter. 2. Why were there twice as many people in the TSA pre-check line as in the regular line? My son and his GF did not have TSA pre-check, yet they went through security much faster than my wife & I. 3. Seats too narrow. I was snugly fit in, and I had to stand in order to get something out of my front pant's pocket. 4. Not enough legroom and no way to stretch my leg (and my very painful knee). We sat in row 17. It was right side bulkhead on 2-3-2 configuration. There was no way to stretch out my knee. The configuration of the inside of the aircraft placed the bulkhead wall too close to the seat. My leg was at about 70 degrees the entire flight (0 degrees is completely straight). Notably, the same row on the left side of the plane had about another 12 inches of leg-room. That's just the way the plane was configured. 5. No WiFi 6. Entertainment device rip-off. I wasn't interested in renting an entertainment device, but I was offended by their offer. If you signed up for it at the desk before boarding you would pay $15 and would get the device 20 minutes after take-off. If you waited until you were on the plane you would pay $17. The worse part: YOU WOULDN'T GET THE DEVICE UNTIL 2 HOURS INTO THE FLIGHT!!!"

Pros: "I don't travel too often so when I took Hawaiian Airlines, I was pleasantly surprised that they serve a complimentary meal while on board. During my flight, they served chicken with white rice and mixed vegetables, a cookie for dessert and water. Oh, and a complimentary red or white wine to go with your dinner. Not too shabby! Great service by the flight attendants as well."
Cons: "Even though I don't travel often, I feel like I've been on enough planes to know that free TV and movies are essential. Hawaiian Airlines lacked that feature. A few episodes or "series" that they had were interesting but not enough to keep me fully engaged. You had to pay for individual movies ($7.99) and even though it isn't a terrible price for a movie, I still wasn't willing to pay. If movies couldn't be free, then why not the regular TV shows? I think folks would have been okay with TV shows if the options were plentiful."

Very peaceful, easy flight along the lines of what Virgin and Jet Blue introduced a decade ago. The flight ended up feeling like part of the vacation. Will always choose Hawaiian in the future."

Hawaiian Airlines is the only mainland bound airline that makes customers have their carry-on luggage go through agriculture. Why???"
