Pros: "Premium seating made a huge difference. Even though I am petite, I had a laptop, tablet and work that had to go under the seat in front of me, and I still had plenty of legroom."
Cons: "The seatback offered free streaming of AA entertainment on my tablet, but when I opened the browser and selected entertainment, the only option was to pay $9.95, so I just watched downloaded Netflix episodes. Plus the movies offered on AA streaming didn't look especially good."

They gave away our seats, told us we would not get on, would not get our baggage and would not get put up in a hotel. Because of the NBA draft - had to travel 60 miles to New Jersey for a hotel. Lost a day, lost 2 tours, endured additional hotel costs...and the attendant made it clear she was on overtime and we just needed to move on. American Airlines is too big and consolidation of airlines has not been good for the public."

Cons: "Kayak/JustFly charged us a fee to pre-select our seats which was appealing traveling with a baby. However, upon checking in, we found that the seats were not reserved and the fee was a marketing ploy. The airline attempted to separate our family of 3, but luckily it was not a full flight and we were able to sit together with no help from Kayak, JustFly, British Airways, or American. Kayak/JustFly made the experience of traveling overseas with a baby more challenging than it otherwise would have been which is a terrible way to conduct business. We will never be using these services again and will tell family and friends to do the same."

Cons: "Baggage was damaged, which required a claim to be submitted. Company policy requires me to take the damaged baggage home, empty it, and return it to the airport. The airport is 1-1/2 hours from my house. They inconvenience me by handling my baggage like an ape and then continue to inconvenience me by requiring me to go way out of my way to get it repaired. American Airlines apparently does not understand what customer service means."
Cons: "You make me deplane just to take my bags from me because they don't fit the plane when I just flew 4 hours across the country."
Pros: "When we arrived, we found the plane was changed, and our seats were in the middle, and separated. We had paid extra to have window seats.. After speaking to one of the gate attendant ( Arturo ), he went out of his way to accommodate us, and we ended up with great seats. Friendly and accommodating crew! ."

Cons: "I booked the flight with Kayak and it showed the airline as Finnair, the flight was actually with American, no complains about it. The issue was that Kayak did not update me with the Flight number for American Airlines and kept sending me information about the flight with Finnair which was not going to actually take place. I had to actually call American and spend time with a Representative providing all the data to be able to get my American Airlines flight booking code so I could check in online. American as always was great! Shame on Kayak!"

AA was very inflexible about the storm and wouldn't allow me to change my flight unless I wanted to fly within a matter of days. Which was impossible for me. It would have cost me more than my original ticket costs just to change the date. Absolutely absurd costumer service in the wake of a natural disaster and I will not be booking with them in the future."

Cons: "Due to purchasing from Kayak, we could not change flight even thought flight UA34 was delayed due to mechanical. We had to call ANA, United and Airline.com but no one can change flights. We will not purchase tickets from Kayak. We called 11/5 to assign seat numbers. However, when we get to the airport, our seat was no assigned as we requested. They had to re-arrange to sit next to each other for two of us. Fight got delay does not mean they can re-assign our seats."

Cons: "The flight kept getting delayed and they wouldn't tell us why. There happened to be a line forming at the counter and when i asked an employee why people were lining up, all that i got in reply was "because the flights delayed". Thanks...i had no idea"
Cons: "We we're delayed at customs and missed our flight. We were told we were re-booked on a flight, so we ran across the airport, with two small children, to make that flight only to be told that weren't actually re-booked and needed to go standby. We then waited in line at customer service for two hours to be informed that United won't pay for a hotel. The customer service rep. did offer that if we wanted to take our kids across the airport, now at 11:30 at night, we could look for a United Supervisor in Terminal E, and if we were lucky enough to find one, they might override the policy and cover the hotel. Really! I understand that United doesn't have control over customs, but United did book an international flight with just over an hour layover, knowing that any slowdown in customs means missed flights. That's fine. The problem I have is when it happened, United's Customer Service model was to provide misinformation, incredible slow service, and what seemed like a complete lack of interest by United employees to do anything to make the situation better. There were no supervisors at the service counter, only 1 representative for an hour or so, and when the other representatives showed up, they were discussing going on break and going home. All with a very long line of people stuck in the airport waiting to get some help. I could accept this as an isolated instance, but since booking this trip, I have been getting the same level of service over the phone while trying to submit a refund request for my son who did not join us on the trip. United's 24 hour refund policy has taken 6 weeks and many hours online and on the phone and I still have no idea what the status of that request is, and apparently neither does anybody at United. The interaction I have had with your employees have been friendly and courteous, but extremely time consuming, with a lot of incorrect information and no resolution. Very mediocre at best."

Cons: "I confirmed my flight. I had a 3 hour delay in CHI. Having a 90 minute drive and an hour flight. I decided to skip my first flight and just head to the connecter in CHI. My whole flight was canceled as a result. The front desk guy was smug and extremly rude. The Tech support and this representative offered 2 different "Facts" on what could be done. As a result I was forced to pay for a hotel and miss a day of work. All because I wanted to spend extra time with my family. I have nothing possitive to say about your product and as a business owner Im embarrassed for you."

Cons: "One flight attendant seemed very tired. I had my garbage gathered up to give when she came by, but she zipped past me with the garbage bag and didn't see my things. She zipped by again without a bag just as we were about to land and I was able to hold it out for her. And she says "seriously?!" to me, as if I had been hiding it from her."
Cons: "Our seats were Infront of the emergency exit, couldn't relax. I'm 6'6" , so the incline if the back isn't comfortable and we couldn't recline. We had asked switching seats on our flight to Spokane because we were given the same seats. The airline told us seats were chosen at random and they couldn't control them so we had 4 legs of our two flights stuck in no reveling seats. I was very disappointed."

Cons: "The only thing two things I'd change would be our plane arriving back the Kalamazoo on time. It wasn't even in Kalamazoo very long. The other thing I'd change would be having the two people helping with boarding speak more clearly on the intercom. I seriously couldn't understand much of what they were saying. Also, there's not much select for pop in your store."

Cons: "Was forced to check a carry on sized bag and pay $25. This bag fits in an overhead bin, and I have never been forced to check this bag on any other airline before. United told me that gate checking wasn't an option, because they don't do that anymore, and forced me to pay the bag check fee. Furthermore, the staff at EWR were the rudest customer service representatives I have ever encountered at an airport."

And my knees were up against the seat in front of me all the way. Was battling back cramps and spasms. Felt like a sardine. And we got no beverage service"

Cons: "I almost died. There was some sort of overheating happening under my seat requiring constant monitoring by the crew and myself; I burnt myself on the wall of the plane. It was terrifying. The flight crew was able to rule out fire but said all they knew in the cockpit was that it "has something to do with the wing". REFUND PLEASE?!?!?"
Pros: "Predictable flight; service was fine, food/bev was standard for a european carrier and better than an American carrier. Seat pitch seemed slightly below average for transcontinental. Boarding was fine. IFE works great. Quick flight. Really liked the little tiny separated economy section in front of the bathrooms. Felt like the economy cabin you find in the upstairs of a 747 or A380."
