Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "Great crew"
Pros: "Seats were ok"
Pros: "Crew members were all very pleasant and personable. A very special experience with the local ticket agent / boarding agent (double duty) in Guadalajara: Maria Hernandez (or perhaps Fernandez) who was pleasant, professional, helpful and even called us respectfully by name ("Mr. and Mrs. Petrusek") She is an outstanding representative of American Airlines! Gracias to her!!"
Cons: "Not a thing! We live in Mexico and we usually fly Volaris...I think AA just became our favorite airline!"
Cons: "Paid for seats so I could sit with my guy - still had zero leg room. Generally disappointed with the state of air travel in the US - feels like we're being herded like cattle. Would like to vote with my dollars to help airlines that value customers and aren't trying to pinch pennies/nickel & dime us"
Cons: "We had a 3 hour delay because of a “minor mechanical issue” that was fixed relatively quickly but took over 2 hours to get “paperwork approved”. We were stuck on the plane the entire time."
Pros: "Flight Attendants professionalism"
Cons: "Due to AA delaying my flight I missed my connection; I'm a AA frequent flyer and I could say that have missed my connections about 50% of the time during my trips with the company during the last year. We were stuck next to the jet bridge for about 20 minutes because there was no one to operate it; as a result, I arrived late to get on my next flight. They close the flight even though there were about six passengers having connection delays because of American, the company refused to let us in the airplane even though the flight was in the ramp for about one more hour for unknown reasons."
Pros: "Service was good"
Pros: "The speed with which phone AA Platinum customer service changed me to alternative flight"
Cons: "Flight delayed, no honest info put forth. Fortunately changed my flight to 1:37 pm flight, original flight left after 3 pm! Got stuck with middle seat."
Pros: "I appreciated the accommodations for my lactose free diet. Both the meal & the snack were lactose free and I was able to eat on the flight without problems. In-flight entertainment was very nice. I watched several movies on the way to London."
Pros: "Chocolate ice cream and pot pies"
Cons: "To start, I had paid extra to upgrade to a seat with more leg room only to find I had been reassigned to the back of the plane. This was after I had already done an online check-in for the appropriate seat. Then I was told by the AA agent at the desk that my upgrade was in the system but that it was “fake”. Apparently the money I paid two months before was no good on this flight. I was traveling with my boyfriend and they would not allow us at the same counter because we were not married. After much haggling we were finally able to rectify the situation. Horrible start. Then, once on the plane, the in- flight entertainment system as well as the lights broke right before take off so there was nothing to watch or see for an almost 8 hour flight."
Pros: "Left on time, arrived early, the service and the food was great."
Cons: "Additional cost for luggage"
Pros: "The flight attendants, the service,, the movies, the food, the flight were great, the pilot was very smooth, the plane was very clean"
Cons: "The boarding took forever, including because my wife was picked for extra security search... for an american citizen who lives in miami ?... Inside the plane during the whole flight was freezing Paying for suitcases and changing or selecting seats??? .. really?"
Cons: "First of all, this flight was not good; that was my rating for the first leg of CLE to DFW. DFW to SJC was a disaster due to weather and multiple equipment changes. Overall the flight was delayed 7 hours, from 4:50pm to 11:40pm. I opted to reschedule for the following morning -- and that flight ended up being delayed for an hour due to equipment changes and mechanical issues. Door-to-door I spent 30 hours getting from CLE to SJC."
Cons: "Entertainment via internet could NEVER be really be done complitly. And the flight attendants did not know how to help costumers"
Pros: "Captain shared important delay info"
Cons: "Row 11 middle seat awful"
Pros: "Everything went smoothly. Standard flight and good landing. On time."
Cons: "Need more space in coach."
Pros: "On flight crew was pleasant and helpful."
Pros: "The actual flight itself was fine and the inflight entertainment provided good entertainment."
Cons: "From the begining the trip was plagued by delays. I was supposed to leave Monterey at 0600, we didnt leave until 0630. Then my Phoenix flight was delayed by two hours that caused me to shift flights in Charlotte because i would miss my connection. Lastly, they had to change a break on the plane leaving Charlotte so instead of getting home at 7 like i was supposed to, i got into Norfolk at 1139 pm."
Pros: "On time and quick."
Cons: "Three hours delay. I paid for a upgrade to first class. But because of the flight change i didn't get to keep my upgrade and I had to beg for a refund. I have had two trips in the past 5 days and all flights have been anywhere from 1 to 3 hours late. Worst experience with AA I have had in a long time."
Cons: "Seat was supposedly an exit row but in reality it was the seat behind the exit row and there was a metal box blocking my already non existent leg room."
Pros: "Nice staff!"
Cons: "A bit bumpy!"
Pros: "The Monterrey airport is very comfortable and fast. The trip was pleasant. The staff very attentive."
Cons: "On this trip I wanted to see snow and I did not see it."
Cons: "Late leaving Monterey. Other than that, fine trip"
Pros: "everything was smooth"
Cons: "Nothing bad about the trip"
Pros: "On time and what was advertised. Considering that the flight was after Thanksgiving and very full, we still had a good experience."
Pros: "It was on time."
Cons: "Very small airplane for a 3 hours flight."
Pros: "Pleasant crew and flight was comfortable"
Cons: "Plane was a half hour late and had to run to catch our connecting flight"
Cons: "it was cancelled "mechanical" sure heard that one before"
Cons: "Never made it on the flight because of delays. We got on the plane then had to disembark"
Pros: "Nothing at all"
Cons: "Never should have been on this later flight which also took off late. And I don't even know where my luggage will end up. I should get an apology and cash for my troubles."
Pros: "Flight was on time"
Cons: "Since we have an AAdvantage CitiCard and are AAdvantage members, it is disconcerting to have to claim your privilege of 1 free bag and priority boarding each time. This is embarrassing at the gate especially since it looks like we are cutting the line. What good is this "privilege" if you have to assert it every time or hold a credit card in hand with your carryon and boarding pass. This should be included in our ticketing at the time of purchase and upgraded on our boarding pass if we use the damn card for the purchase. It is now not a "privilege" but an inconvenience."
Cons: "The flight was cancelled. I didn't receive a refund or free hotel accommodations. I've been on flights in Africa where free hotel accommodations were standard for a layover over 3 hours. A little embarrassing that an airline in America can't afford a hotel for people stranded in a city overnight."
Pros: "Great food and movie selection - awesome distraction from my usual flight anxiety."
Cons: "This boarding by groups is inefficient."
Pros: "Staff try ed not much they could do"
Cons: "Eventually arrived i. Raliegh after a full day or arranging and crazy stress. Not sure I'll fly American again."
Pros: "Thomas of the crew gave incredible service."
Cons: "Both to and from the seat didn't fully function and both ways the entertainment system broke down"
Cons: "It was freezing."
Cons: "They should have made contact with our next flight as soon as we landed to tell them to keep the door open, it took a long time to get off the plane and I had to run all the way across the airport only to still miss my flight because they had just closed the door. My plane was still sitting there for about 10 minutes they must have JUST closed the door and still wouldn't let us on"
Pros: "Everything was on time"
Pros: "Liked that they let me carry on my luggage and put it in the overhead instead of making me check it like they did on the flight from Myrtle Beach to Philadelphia."
Cons: "Would like the "whole" can of soda."
Cons: "I purchased a round trip ticket to Miami for my infant son and I to accompany my wife on her business trip. First off, there was a 2.5 hour delay. The flight was overbooked. The lady at the ticket counter would not switch my seat to be seated next to my wife and 4 month old infant. Luckily the gentleman beside her was willing to switch seats so that she could comfortably breast feed our son. My checked luggage was severely damaged. The side of the luggage was caved in and one wheel was completely ripped off while the other was partially damaged. A cart had to be rented in order to transport the broken suitcase through the airport to the rental car service area where we picked up our car. The infant car seat belonging to a $180 traveling system was damaged and is missing pieces that secure the broken canopy. We were rudely advised by a staff member to file a report as she pointed in the general directional of a line a mile long. We have been advised by the manufacturing company to discontinue the use of this car seat because it is no longer considered safe for the baby to travel in. Should we ever be involved in an accident, the car seat would likely fail to ensure the baby's safety due to the mishandling by American Airline employees. Unfortunately since the flight was ridiculously delayed and my son was ill, we were unable to file the report. My wife has since contacted American Airlines via telephone and intends to write them a formal written complaint."
Cons: "Airline gate attendent gave us the wrong information for the connecting flight and we nearly missed it"
Pros: "We made it one piece and the pilot clearly made an effort to avoid turbulence by changing altitude constantly in search of smooth air."
Cons: "Crew brought food whether you wanted it or not. They loaded up my husband's tray table with food for 3, even though they were all asleep. I was sitting across the way, so, perhaps they didn't hear me say no thanks. The entertainment system was awful. You had to go through all the steps again and again every time you tried to simply check flight information. Annoying. When we arrived DFW customs, one of our bags was missing. Still in London. No surprise. LHR is awful. We would not see that bag again for nearly 4 days. They gave me some thing about a belt problem between T5 and T3 in LHR. We went from T3 to T3. No excuse. Probably fell off somewhere. Chocolates were a bit melted and chip bags burst. Whenever it was, it sat in heat."
Cons: "50 minute delay with no reason given, the flight attendants just hid until take off. Then once we got to Austin we sit on the Tarmac because the gate was occupied."
Pros: "Flight was on time. Great service from the ground staff to the in flight crew."
Pros: "Overall good.."
