Food was mainly excellent, except one time the bread, and a piece of meat in the cold salad, were a little stale. Entertainment was mainly excellent, except the game choices were limited and the movies were edited.

1. Uncomfortable boarding at JFK: Had to go out in the cold to ride a BUS to the airplane: Why can't they use a BRIDGE like everyone else? Since our first leg was from, and our lest leg was to, very warm places, we were not prepared for the sub-freezing conditions. 2. Horrible flight delay: JFK to CAN: Cancellation of flight CZ600, 12/31/17, followed by TEN-hour delay leaving JFK, was beyond traumatic. Airplane had to be fixed, but it should not have taken that long to find a solution. Passenger care was horrible: Initially we sat on the tarmac for 4 hours, then transferred to a waiting station with almost no heat and no access to rest rooms or food.

Flight got rerouted to Chicago because of snow. Airline abandoned us for almost 10 hours. No one knew where to go, what to do. That part was horrible after a 15 hour flight.

1. Boarding and un-boarding should be by bridge, especially in sub-freezing weather! What is China Southern's problem with this? Every boarding/unboarding has always been by bus, and we had to be exposed to the elements. Since we were traveling between two warm places, we were not prepared to be out in freezing weather. 2. Layover in CAN was terrible: It was too long (10 hours); Guangzhou Baiyun had NO HEAT and so was very cold, too few charging stations, and very spotty wi-fi. I could not use my credit card in at least one place. At a McDonalds (probably a knock-off actually), the cashier was quite rude, allowing native Chinese customers to cut in line in front of me and unapologetic with their "no-credit-cards" policy. Customer service personnel need better training in international relations.

The food was the best I've had while flying. Great entertainment selection. Generally smooth flight.

Our flight had to be diverted because of a storm. Once we deplaned, the flight crew disappeared and offered passengers no guidance of what to do next. I expected some level ownership from them on helping figure out what to do next.

The earbuds' quality are real bad, like dollar store bad. Portion of food is real small. Only offered snacks once. Could smell cigarette on 4 different occassions, smoke detector even went off once due to cigarette but no action was taken against the passenger. Could smell poop too. Not allowed to use electronic device even on airplane mode, which is ridiculous.

Super nice service from the crew on the flight. And the young woman at the check-in counter in San Francisco was terrifically friendly and helpful.

Flight was just slightly delayed leaving in both San Francisco and Taipei. But the headwinds (certainly no fault of China Airlines!) made us 45 minutes late in Taipei, making us a little anxious about making connections, especially when we saw the long line to x-ray baggage going from one terminal to the next.

I had a seat in Premium Economy and the seats were very comfortable. The chair had the option to extend into a foot rest and had wider arm space than standard economy seats do.

Boarding was a little delayed and hectic (seemed disorganized). The flight was quite crowded/full so this was likely a factor. Also, I was served a dish with ham (which I don't eat) even after asking for the contents & there being no mentioning of ham being in the dish. The crew was very apologetic and kind enough to offer any other dish option they had available.

Nothing!. My brother and I got to the Airport 45 mins before the Check In Counter Closed but we didn't make it Thedue to the fact that we had a flat tire unexpectedly so my flight was cancelled and rescheduled to January 10, 2018 and paid extra $480.00 including penalty. If the Check in Counter did not close early, I could still be able to check in on time while there was still 45 mins remaining.

Since our custom and emigration checking was in Abu Dhabi, in Chicago, the flight used a domestic terminal. For our final leg of the flight, we had to haul all six pieces of luggage from terminal 5 to terminal 3. Then we were told that our American Airlines flight from Chicago to Kalamazoo is not a valid one. So we were booked to a different flight 12 hours later. We had to stay in Chicago for 12 hours on our own. Neither Etihad nor American Airlines provide any support for that time period in Chicago. Since it was Etihad ticket, According to international norm, Etihad should take the responsibility for this problem and compensated passengers.

Emirates was top in service, organization, personnel. Planes were clean, staff attentive and personable and wanting to help. Been a long time since service this good and on such long flights. Cabin personnel of multiple nationalities and languages only added to the flight. They even returned my phone mistakenly left on board. Would recommend them to all.

Entertainment system on smaller planes not as responsive as newer models. They need to improve web info to share layover process for hotel vouchers and visa.

Loss of baggage, CAN to MNL, flight CZ3091, 1/1/18: The luggage which had our clothes was delayed. Worse, the over-ground delivery of said luggage took too long: one third of our stay in the Philippines. I knew we'd wear the same clothes for almost 24 hours straight, didn't expect to do so for three additional days.

Crew was pretty curt and not polite. They also 'didn't have time' to load my bag onto the plane, along with ~15 other people. I had to wait two days for it to arrive. 'No time' to load bags is kind of an odd and slightly unacceptable reason to not load baggage onto a plane. Airlines close check-in for flights 30 mins before departure time to ensure that all bags make it onto the plane. I was 3 hours early. Don't know why they 'didn't have time'. They also broke my friend's bag.

regular meals, decent inflight programming

Service can be very erratic. On both long-haul CSA flights I took, attendants spoke poor English, which was surprising given the route. This is a perfectly OK airline for the price. You get what you pay for, in a way. But if anything drifts from the original plan, you're screwed. On Thurs Jan 4 we were diverted to Chicago due to bad weather. CSA has ZERO ground presence at Ohare. They gave us poorly-worded, vague instructions while still on board the aircraft for how to proceed once we disembarked-- and then their crew went off to hotels and rested, while most of the passengers stood stranded and confused in the airport terminal with NO assistance whatsoever. We were NEVER formally told when to reboard, or when our flight might take off again for JFK. We were NEVER told what kind of arrangements would be available for passengers to rest and recover-- and we landed around midnight, mind you. Passengers shared info with one another that they gleaned from 3rd party websites-- we all helped each other out, because CSA was useless. I recognize that it was an unusual situation due to extreme weather but it was indicative of the kind of customer service one can expect. Which is, not much.

Since our first leg was from, and our lest leg was to, very warm places, we were not prepared for the sub-freezing conditions. 2. Horrible flight delay: JFK to CAN: Cancellation of flight CZ600, 12/31/17, followed by TEN-hour delay leaving JFK, was beyond traumatic. Airplane had to be fixed, but it should not have taken that long to find a solution. Passenger care was horrible: Initially we sat on the tarmac for 4 hours, then transferred to a waiting station with almost no heat and no access to rest rooms or food.

Loss of baggage, CAN to MNL, flight CZ3091, 1/1/18: The luggage which had our clothes was delayed. Worse, the over-ground delivery of said luggage took too long: one third of our stay in the Philippines. I knew we'd wear the same clothes for almost 24 hours straight, didn't expect to do so for three additional days.

Super nice service from the crew on the flight. And the young woman at the check-in counter in San Francisco was terrifically friendly and helpful.

Flight was just slightly delayed leaving in both San Francisco and Taipei. But the headwinds (certainly no fault of China Airlines!) made us 45 minutes late in Taipei, making us a little anxious about making connections, especially when we saw the long line to x-ray baggage going from one terminal to the next.

I had a seat in Premium Economy and the seats were very comfortable. The chair had the option to extend into a foot rest and had wider arm space than standard economy seats do.

Boarding was a little delayed and hectic (seemed disorganized). The flight was quite crowded/full so this was likely a factor. Also, I was served a dish with ham (which I don't eat) even after asking for the contents & there being no mentioning of ham being in the dish. The crew was very apologetic and kind enough to offer any other dish option they had available.

cheap ticket buf it comes with a cost-- a seat on the end rear section of the plane!

the cheap ticket that you reserved on line puts you at the tail portion of the plane where you will have to endure a 14 hours of turbulence. food is not impressive! the plane left lax so late that we have to run to our connecting gate in taipei!

Nothing!. My brother and I got to the Airport 45 mins before the Check In Counter Closed but we didn't make it Thedue to the fact that we had a flat tire unexpectedly so my flight was cancelled and rescheduled to January 10, 2018 and paid extra $480.00 including penalty. If the Check in Counter did not close early, I could still be able to check in on time while there was still 45 mins remaining.

Food was too smelly. Good quality, but airplane food cannot be smelly or it get really unpleasant inside the cabin. Flight attendant need to learn and practice English. Very difficult to understand.

Seats were ok. Downloaded media for each seat was diverse and entertaining. Food was alright.

Crew was pretty curt and not polite. They also 'didn't have time' to load my bag onto the plane, along with ~15 other people. I had to wait two days for it to arrive. 'No time' to load bags is kind of an odd and slightly unacceptable reason to not load baggage onto a plane. Airlines close check-in for flights 30 mins before departure time to ensure that all bags make it onto the plane. I was 3 hours early. Don't know why they 'didn't have time'. They also broke my friend's bag.

I slept the entire flight so I considered this flight a success!

I packed snacks to eat on the flight because I had flown with this airline twice before and they had terrible food so I wanted to be better prepared.
