The crew at the airport and on the plane were excellent. We were on a family holiday with young ones and the crew really took care of our needs. They were extremely courteous and attentive.

The inflight entertainment options could be more current. We found the options limited... it was a good thing that the flight was short.

I had about 30 minutes to change planes in Beijing cause of the flight delay (still had to switch terminals, check in and go through the border). I was met by an airline representative near the plane with a special bus and accompanied through all the bureaucracy very quickly. Excellent airline staff.

Kept me well hydrated, supplied tissues that helped me bear a long flight while sick. Early arrival appreciated. Fresh fruit was good.

Crew might have cleared away medications by mistake but they tried hard to find it, inquired all attendants and even looked through the trash. I missed the passing of of declaration forms twice while I was in the bathroom and when we landed the customs people directed me wrong so I had to wait a long time in line to get through customs without water which made me sicker and I had to go to the doctor.

I was very sick and contagious and asked for a single person hotel room for the night before a connecting flight. It was not accommodated. It would have cost extra 100-200 yuan. Then when we asked for the shuttle to the hotel, the security at the departures level meant we could not exit and be picked up. No one could arrange pick up at arrivals. Instead we paid for a taxi ourselves. Poor service and coordination, especially considering I could barely talk and just badly needed a rest.

This ridiculous airline and it's rude, obnoxious staff in Chengdu made a mockery of my friend and I (two 21 year old American girls traveling alone). We had booked round trip tickets back in October 2017 that included a 1 hour layover in Chengdu first, then a 7 hour layover in Shanghai on our way to Bangkok for a trip in Thailand. That was fine with us. Then all of a sudden it changed to a 6 hour layover in Chengdu then an 18 HOUR layover in Shanghai. We decided to deal with it and get a hotel room in Shanghai, no big deal. After a great trip in Thailand and leaving fine from Bangkok to our first layover in Chengdu, that is where the nightmare started. First off, going through Chengdu customs, I don't know if it is because Americans do not travel through there a lot, but the officers pulled us aside and were passing around our American passports around their staff, taking pictures of them with Iphones before handing us "in-transit" paperwork to fill out. As weird as that was, no one really seemed to speak english and we just wanted to get away from them and get through. When we went to the check in counter, they handed me a boarding pass for our flight at 1:50 that afternoon, but then proceeded to tell my friend that she wasn't on a flight until the next morning at 7 am out of Chengdu and our original connecting flight out of Shanghai at 11:50 the next morning was now at 8 pm for her. What could have been simply fixed like it WAS after calling priceline and our travel agent, the staff at the ticket counter and a representative over the phone made our lives living hell. They barely spoke english and the ones that did were very rude to us, saying that they couldn't help us and put us on the phone with China Eastern. FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF we were on the phone with a representative who was talking us in circles, telling us that there were no available seats on the 1:50 and that he could get her on the next 3:45 out of Chengdu, then put us on hold to come back and say he couldn't only change 1 domestic flight in China, but would have to cancel her flight to NY. When offering to pay to just DO IT and get out of china, he said that if he were to cancel it and take our credit card info, it "may or may not go through" and if it didn't she would be stuck with no flights. When asked how that made any sense, he proceeds to say" Because miss, our system sucks," and other rude things like "Why can't you just keep your flight and meet your friend in NY." then him along with a rude ticket counter guy say that he could help us if we took 5,000 yuan out of the bank and paid them cash. TRYING TO SCAM US. After all this drama a simple call to priceline was able to fix the problem no payment involved, and there WERE available seats on all the flights and a domestic flight could be changed. LYING, SCAMMING, RUDE, individuals. Definitely worth a little more money to take any other airline BUT THIS ONE.

It’s difficult to choose what part of the flight was the best, but the overall experience will make me come back for more. The check-in process took very little time. The flight staff was friendly and courteous and had a smile throughout the flight. The lighting was so much brighter than with the first and second legs of my flight and the plane was very clean, to the point where one could eat off the floor. the in-flight entertainment, clothes rack, charger, and remote controller were all right in front of you instead of being tucked in by your side. The food quality was savory and refreshing. I should have asked for a second meal as it was that good even for a short economy flight.

the salad and desserts were excellent, as was the chicken and rice, but I would have appreciated a choice for my main menu selection.

The food was good and the service was great. The flight attendants were very attentive.

I had to pay $200 for an extra bag because they told me that my bags were all over weight. Come to find out, the scale was broken and my bags were actually underweight. So I ended up with 5 bags instead of 3. My main issue was comfortability. Due to the person behind me, I couldn’t push my chair back and so I had find different ways to sleep.

i was broke and hungry so i didn’t get to eat much in the airport. in the plane after serving their meal i asked for a second serving and they were nice enough to give me a second serving of food. that was very nice

what i did not like about asiana was at the check in counter in New York JFK airport. the non asian clerk was pretty strict about overweight baggage. it’s my fault yes for not weighing them ahead of time but the clerk could have been more polite when speaking.

Everything was delayed by at least 1 hour. The flight delay was announced at 11pm the day of, but the passengers weren’t situated in a hotel until 3am. And the flight didn’t arrive until 11pm the next day!! A 15hr delay! And because I had a connecting flight, the delay made me have to spend ANOTHER extra night in the airport, AND never compensated me for the connecting flight ticket which I had to purchase another one of.

The return flight HK-Vancouver was on the slightly smaller and older Airbus 330 which had no chargers, no in-flight entertainment screen. We received iPad movie screens which were ok. Coach seats were too close compared to those on the LA-HK Airbus big boys (Airbus 350 9 abreast). Bonus negative was my seat was broken and wouldn't recline and there was a metal box underneath the seat in front of me so leg room was restrictive and I'm 6 feet tall. Shoulda sprung for Business Class. As for food, first meal was rice, kimchee, and a tiny bit of pork and veggies which was ok. Snack was pizza bread, really hard to eat/runny and served with no napkin. Breakfast was runny scrambled eggs, beans, and a cooked cherry tomato and single stalk of broccoli. Staff was polite. Worse yet was the Sunday morning line at Vancouver customs: at least 2500-3000 people from several flights and 4 (YOU READ THAT RIGHT: FOUR) customs agents! Took 2 hours and change to get through. Coming to the US through this airport I had to leave security, ticket for Portland leg, recheck my bag, go through security AGAIN, and GO THROUGH CUSTOMS TO THE US. DO NOT TAKE THIS FLIGHT THROUGH VANCOUVER TO TRAVEL BACK TO THE STATES! Worst international travel experience of my life, bar none.

Crewmen at the luggage/bags scanning were very rude. Our flight from Manila to Guangzhou was delayed by an hour or so. With all the pressure we were already experiencing and rushing to get to our connecting flight, here comes these crewmen in charge of scanning our bags we're all shouting at us to rush. The staff was courteous and efficient. The entertainment selections were diverse. The seating was adequate for a long haul flight.

The check-in process took 50 minutes at the counter as the staff told me that I needed a visa for China (transit) while that info was incorrect. I had to deal with online customer service while the person at the counter couldn’t help. It finally took 3 people at the counter to send me away. Once on the plane for a 14+ hour flight, I couldn’t use the bathrooms freely as they were filthy. The staff obviously didn’t maintain the bathrooms during the entire flight. The food served made me wish that I had bought take-out food for 3-meals prior to my boarding. the quantity of food was inadequate for the long flight as well. 1 extra snack would have been appreciated. I will likely book my future trans-Pacific flights with another airline.

So we arrive close to 6 hours late and no luggage so we have to wait in line to fill out paperwork to have our luggage located/delivered along with everybody else who had checked baggage. Everything felt comfortable and clean on my first flight on Hainan. I sat in economy and overall it was a great experience, especially considering what I paid from Chicago to Shenzhen via Beijing. The food might be slightly better on Cathay Pacific, but I really have no complaints about it. It was tasty and relatively healthy. It wasn’t oversalted and on long flights that makes a huge beneficial difference. You can always go to the galley and grab a simple sandwich if you need something between meals. Overall it was an excellent experience.

Everything was clean and well appointed. The air attendants were helpful and friendly. The seat was fine and they provide a nice little back pillow & blanket in economy. The food was tasty and simple which is good for long flights. Not overly salted. I found it to be a satisfying experience in economy.

I was very sick and contagious and asked for a single person hotel room for the night before a connecting flight. It was not accommodated. It would have cost extra 100-200 yuan. Then when we asked for the shuttle to the hotel, the security at the departures level meant we could not exit and be picked up. No one could arrange pick up at arrivals. Instead we paid for a taxi ourselves. Poor service and coordination, especially considering I could barely talk and just badly needed a rest.

The flight crew was kind..really hard working..

I was not informed before hand I needed a visa to enter China..Xiamen international airport does not have transit lounge...so leaving on the 6 December from Lax to Xiamen ..I was denied to fly Xiamen so they scrambled last minute an put me on China southern airlines...upon return from Singapore I had to pay for Chinese visa since I was to return through Xiamen...it was a nightmare

Complimentary wifi and excellent crew service

The econ seat is too low, when front seater tilted the seat backward, the screen is right in front of my face. Entertainment video screen doesn’t adjust; in other words, it cannot be adjust in angle, causing neck pain over time. Meals are average, definitely different from the quality compared to regional or domestic equivalent. Very sad, considering that Xiamen Air has a good reputation inside China. The restroom is also poorly stocked — no toilet roll constantly
