Cons: "I didn't make it to Siem Reap because the first leg of the trip from IAD to London was cancelled by Virgin Atlantic after it was fully boarded. The excuse was that a flight attendant had food poisoning and was unable to fly and so the entire flight was cancelled. The Virgin team seemed unconcerned and showed NO sense of urgency to try and get people rebooked. Their solution was to rebook everyone on an evening flight the next day. If a passenger was only going to London, that was probably fine. But for people with connecting flights -- or like me with multiple connecting flights -- that wasn't acceptable."

But your man Fred from PNG Air was right there in POM Jackson's airport to take my information and somehow two days later I did receive the bags! Thanks! We were lucky to have a spare seat between us and were comfortable for the flight. The entertainment system and the programming choices were quite good."

I have never encountered this situation in my life where a carrier would only send checked bags to the layover destination instead of the final destination for which I paid! Needless to say I had to go through immigration and collect my bags in Frankfurt. The only reason I made my connection was because the next flight was delayed. Absolutely horrible service and response from both United and Lufthansa when I tried to explain the situation in San Francisco. As far as the actual flight, it was ok aside from the fact that United is too cheap to install entertainment systems so you have to bring your own laptop or watch the big screen where there's only 1 predesignated movie showing like they had back in the 90's. United stinks."

THE ONLY NOTIFICATION WE WERE PROVIDED WAS AN E-MAIL ABOUT 10:30AM THE MORNING OF OUR FLIGHT STATING THAT OUR FLIGHT MAY BE CANCELLED. MY HUSBAND, WHO HAD BEEN SEEING CLIENTS THAT MORNING ACCESSED THIS COMMUNICATION AFTER WE ARRIVED AT THE AIRPORT, SO WE HAD RECEIVED NOTHING TELLING US OF A DEFINITE CHANGE TO OUR FLIGHTS. THE TRIP WAS UNPLEASANT AND EXTREMELY STRESSFUL, AS WE WERE PLACED ON STANDBY FOR PART OF THE JOURNEY. WE WERE REBOOKED FROM PHILADELPHIA, PA TO PARIS, BUT NOT GUARANTEED SEATS ON OUR CONNECTING FLIGHT IN PARIS THROUGH AIRFRANCE. WE WERE FINALLY ABLE TO BOARD THE FLIGHT IN PARIS AS STAND BYS WITH AVAILABLE SEATING. THE AIRLINE LOST OUR BAGS AND WE HAD TO BUY NECESSITIES UNTIL OUR LUGGAGE COULD BE FOUND. WE DUTIFULLY CALLED AS RECOMMENDED FOR STATUS UPDATES ON OUR BAGGAGE AND WERE ASSURED THAT WE WOULD BE CONTACTED ONCE THEY ARRIVED. WE WERE NEVER CONTACTED WITH ANY UPDATES."

This was overall a really annoying experience."

Cons: "Boarding was completely disorganized. They were calling groups based on the seat number but everyone was standing in line without paying attention to it and they were not enforcing it. So we ended up with a lot of people from the first rows boarding before the other and blocking everyone. Comfort doesn't exist anymore in Economy class, if you are taller than 5.9' your knees will touch the seat and you are squeezed in like cows. But that applies to almost all airlines nowadays."

Cons: "United has changed check-in to multi step process using Kiosks. Would not allow even 0.5 lbs over allowed limit of 50 lbs. for each individual bag, even though second bag was lower than allowable limit. I had middle seat in Premium Economy. My shoulders were pushing against persons sitting on each side. seat is 17" wide, my shoulders are over 20" wide. It was so uncomfortable that soon after take-off I moved to economy section for the only aisle seat available. The seat reclines only 5", so whether I reclined or not, the seat was very uncomfortable. The food served was way below par. TV dinner quantity was so little that I could have had 3 of those. Plastic cutlery of miniature size. Charged for alcoholic beverages (on transatlantic flight!!). Pleasant surprise was the availability of vegetarian option without pre-ordering before flight. For snack before landing, they served cold croissant. And they did not load one of my bags .... was supposed to be on the flight next day, but wasn't. So its been 2 days and I am still waiting on 1 of my 2 checked bags. And the wifi has not worked on any United flight so far for me. Way back in 2013 Turkish airline had working wifi and did not charge extra, unlike what United wants to do ... but they have to first get the wifi working. Flight immediately after was Lufthansa. Even though I consider Lufthansa now as a "has been" airline, it pains to say that Lufthansa was much more comfortable. Seats reclined much more than United making them relatively much more comfortable than United. Regular size steel cutlery. Alcoholic beverages (limited choice, no rum but had Dewars) served. I have flown many times on United from US to Europe and Asia. Last few years were mostly in Business Class and was very happy. I have accumulated over 200,000 miles in the last years and was a Gold status member with United for couple of years. But the cost cutting measures implemented by United in economy class over last few years puts it now on par with airlines like Frontier and Spirit in the domestic market. But the tix prices are on par with premium airlines. I will be avoiding United for international travel."

The crew were brilliant, and hats off to them for working in such difficult conditions."

Pros: "Checking in online 24 hours prior to departure I received up-dates thrice regarding the delay of the flight which was very convenient. I had also learned about the protections that I enjoy as a passenger checking in online. The flight caught up in terms of timing as I had to catch a connecting flight to the continent from London. I was very pleased, also with the courteous flight attendents, the food, the entertainment selection and sufficient leg room in economy class. Overall a lovely experience, indeed!"

Cons: "Wihout question, the most uncomfortable seat ive ever been in. It was obviously a newer plane, long haul flight, and thw configuration maximized space for more passengers. Width of economy seat was tightest I've ever experienced, with the arms of the seats literally right at my legs, nearlt digging in. The leg room was very short with my knees nearly touching the back of the seat in front of me. When i put my tray down, it actually rested on my knees, and was not level because it pitched up due to longer legs (and I'm only 5'9). This was a long haul, 8 hour flight. I've never beeñ so uncomfortable on a flight in my life, and have never counted the minutes I could get out. Seemed obvuous that meal service had taken a hit when corporate looked for places to cut expenses, its one of the lower quality meals. If compared with an international carrier, the food was really sub par. Mostly really friendly crew members, unfortunately, one who really didnt seem to enjoy the job any longer."

"Chicken or pasta" doesn't give the passengers any idea of what they are actually choosing. This time the chicken dish was served with pearl couscous, so it was basically pasta as well. The salad I was given was brown and wilted, and while the cabin attendants were kind enough to give me two salad that were in better shape (after meal service), I just think that quality control should have prevented a inedible salad from being served in the first place. I am also extremely opposed to American Airlines Transatlantic luggage fees. Since I was moving abroad rather than taking a short trip, I was not pleased about paying 100 USD for a second bag on top of an already expensive flight."

This was supposed to be a British Airlines flight, but it really was an American flight. I expected to be on a BA aircraft, which would have probably been upgraded."

When I tried to reserve a special meal, each party (American, Iberia & airfare.com) said they could not do it, that the other party had to do it. So, in other words, no company took responsibility for my customer satisfaction. So I am ultimately blaming American Airlines accountable since they, not Iberia or airfare.com, contracted with the food service provider at the airport."

I was forced to stand in a line that took 18min for a customer service representative. I was then told I couldn't board my flight. I was then put on standby for a flight that would leave two hours later. I went through security it only took 10min because it was 8am on a Saturday morning in LAS VEGAS. I was through security and my original flight still hadn't left. If the kiosk had just printed my ticket I would have made my flight with plenty of time."

I don't like to be a nuisance to the attendants so I only asked for water twice. I just wish they would provide small personal bottles per customer. I also have never flown on TAP before so I wasn't aware of anything like how to call an attendant using the touch-screen or even that watching movies was free. It should be said over the intercom at the beginning of the flight."
