Short trip, was nice to have a drink on the short flight still.
Flight delays were really annoying, but otherwise the experience was fine
we bought Mediterranean boxes for lunch. The salami in mine had gone bad long ago, but my partner had good salami and could eat it. Could I buy assigned seats? I guess that I didn't spend enough, so sat at the back of the plane
the flight attendant was so great and the upgrade to first class was top notch
The delays were awful and the constant gate changes were annoying and the forceful bag checking was rude.
Plane was delayed getting boarded and then again delayed in take-off order. Alaska Airlines must have very little clout at JFK so they don't get priority treatment. All the delays meant we missed the last flight from Portland to Eugene. Alaska did give us hotel voucher for the night...but sent us to a downtown Portland hotel rather than to a nearby airport motel which made for a longer ride at night and then again in the morning. Just made an already long, late night even longer. Hotel was an old outdated Hilton in a slightly seedy part of town. Alaska gave us Lyft vouchers for getting to the hotel, but the return voucher for getting back to the airport in the morning didn't work.
Right as we were supposed to be heading to JFK, they pushed the flight back three hours, with no explanation. And then they sent out a $12 food voucher (could you get any cheaper? My JFK bag of cheezits and vitamin water was $13) well past the hour anyone would have not already bought food (why didn’t they send it when they announced the flight delay?). Then, once we had finally boarded the plane, we sat there for nearly an extra hour because they were having maintenance fix a clogged toilet. And like the icing on the airline cake, we landed really hard. But maybe I was just cranky, because it was 2 AM.
There were 2 male flight attendants that had a poor attitude on flight AS 19 on 7/16/24. They were visibly inconvenienced by questions and were short with passengers. It was surprising and disappointing given how pleasant the rest of the experience with Alaska Airlines was. We otherwise had a wonderful flight! Our trip home was fantastic as well. Not a single complaint there.
The entire flight was terrible. I recently had neurocervical surgery, and I needed a wheelchair to get to the gate. They were wonderful, truly. The flight staff was lovely, as well. Despite the need for assistance, I was put in the middle seat in the last row in front of the toilets. It was "policy" that I couldn't be moved. The pain I felt after the flight was astromnomical. The flight was so WARM, I was sweating, and the "air" did nothing to the stuffy feeling. The seats were uncomfortable, the plane itself was in bad/worn condition (although very clean - thanks to the staff) - and the flight was definitely rocky (not the pilot's fault, of course). All in all - one of the worst flights I've ever taken. The humans were wonderful!! You have a really great team. But your flight policies and your plane are absymal. For what you charge, you need to upgrade your plane and your policies.
The flight attendants were friendly a did amazingly well considering all that they had to do. The pilot made a beautiful landing with challenging gusty winds and turbulence. There was not enough room in my seat. The isle was so narrow that the buttocks of strangers were constantly brushing my arm. The seat ahead was so close when they reclined it was right in my face. It was a tiring 5 hour long ordeal.
