Flight from Newark Liberty Airport to Nassau

FAQs - booking The Bahamas flights

  • Are there any direct flights from Newark to the Bahamas?

Since Newark is the hub for United Airlines, you will find nonstop flights with this airline every day of the week arriving in Nassau (NAS). If you plan to fly with another airline, or to another location in the Bahamas, your flight will have one or possibly two layovers.

  • Which airport in the Bahamas should I fly into?

The Bahamas is an archipelago comprised of hundreds of islands, so it’s best to choose your arrival airport based on your travel plans. The Bahamas features several major international airports, with Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS) in Nassau being the primary hub due to its central location. Grand Bahama International (FPO) in Freeport serves the northern islands, while Exuma International (GGT) in Georgetown caters to the southern region.

  • Do I have to pay extra for baggage on my flight to the Bahamas?

Baggage fees will be determined by the airline and fare class that you book. Many base fares only include carry-ons and will charge additional fees for checked baggage. United, Delta, and American Airlines all charge extra fees for checked bags on Basic Economy tickets. Budget airlines, like Spirit, will charge for both checked and carry-on bags, so it’s a good idea to upgrade your ticket or prepay for bags.

  • Do I need any special documents for my trip to the Bahamas?

U.S. citizens do not need visas for stays in the Bahamas of less than 30 days. However, all visitors will need valid passports and must fill out immigration forms upon arrival. You may also be asked to show your return ticket or proof of onward travel, so it’s good to have that ready when you arrive. Your return to the U.S. is made simple with U.S. Customs pre-clearance, letting flights bypass typical international clearance. Lynden Pindling International is also the first airport outside the U.S. with TSA PreCheck.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from Newark Liberty Airport to The Bahamas?

KAYAK is a travel search engine. That means we look across the web to find the best prices we can find for our users. With over 2 billion flight queries processed yearly, we are able to display a variety of prices and options on flights from Newark Liberty Airport to The Bahamas.

  • How does KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy my flight ticket from Newark Liberty Airport to The Bahamas?

KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool uses historical data to determine whether the price for a flight to The Bahamas from Newark Liberty Airport is likely to change within 7 days, so travelers know whether to wait or book now.

  • What is the Hacker Fare option on flights from Newark Liberty Airport to The Bahamas?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional round-trip ticket. You could then fly to The Bahamas with an airline and back to Newark Liberty Airport with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from Newark Liberty Airport to The Bahamas?

Sometimes travel dates aren't set in stone. If your preferred travel dates have some wiggle room, flexible dates will show you all the options when flying to The Bahamas from Newark Liberty Airport up to 3 days before/after your preferred dates. You can then pick the flights that suit you best.

Top tips for finding cheap flights to The Bahamas

  • Morning departure is around 6% cheaper than an evening flight, on average*.
  • Your journey will begin at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), a hub for United Airlines. Although the airport is located in New Jersey, it is within a reasonable distance and well-connected to New York City via the AirTrain and several different bus lines.
  • If you plan to visit the famous Pig Beach during your trip to the Bahamas, the recommended airport is Exuma International (GGT). Located near the Exuma Cays, this airport provides convenient access and a more straightforward journey to the famous swimming pigs attraction.
  • Flights on Spirit Airlines headed for Freeport (FPO) will have layovers that include self-transfer. This means that you will have to collect and recheck your baggage and pass through security again. Ensure the layover gives you enough time to do this and connect.
  • Keep your travel plans flexible by upgrading to Main Plus on your American Airlines flight. With this ticket, you can change your ticket free of charge and also enjoy other perks, like free seat selection and checked baggage.
  • United caters to its youngest flyers by offering a Children’s Travel Kit featuring an activity book, crayons, and a puzzle. It is also the first airline to offer a Sensory Calming Strip to help soothe anxiety for first-time flyers.

I'm a larger, athletic guy (6'2", 260lbs powerlifter) and I found the seats incredibly uncomfortable with minimal leg room, especially in a window seat. Now, I full understand that being smaller may change my view but even if I was 80lbs less, my legs would be the same size and I was sandwiched between my seat and the seat in front of me.

This flight was ridiculous. I had to have a connecting flight from New York to orlando Florida??? The flight left late and because it was a short flight there was no first class amenities. I had one alcohol drink. The flight crew was fine, but it sure did not feel like first class. Delta to me dropped the ball by giving me a connecting flight. By the time we got to Raleigh we would have missed the next flight. Lucky for me the flight never came so now I was stuck waiting for a later flight that came in late also.

Seat back monitors and outlets were dead and not working.

The crew, food, and entertainment were all good. But my screen had some sort of bug where if I turned it off, it would turn back on after 2-5 minutes. At full brightness. It made it very hard to get any shut-eye on the overnight flight. Also, the older Boeing plane, while nicely cared for (and no doors fell off 😅👏) doesn't have the nice air quality of newer planes. So I felt a bit greasy by the time we landed in Sweden.

Service was good for such a short flight. Small plane but smooth flight.

The flight was delayed but we got to our final destination.

Uncomfortable seats on 14 hour flight. Mediocre food. On time and great crew.

The helpful attitude of the staff, and being a wheelchair passenger everyone was helpful and understanding. The trip was made comfortable by the upgraded seat which was given without my request, that was a great surprise. Thank you Delta.

Gate crew helping to scan tickets was a little short tempered with customers. Flight crew was very friendly, welcoming , and provided excellent service on board.

Everything went well with the flight. But one of the flight attendants had on inappropriate pants. She had on an old worn out pair of sweat pants. The back seam was unrivaled and should not have been worn for work. If I had not seen her in the airport with the standard type of luggage, I certainly would not have thought she was working for Delta. Not a good look at all for representation.

There were multiple delays but JetBlue tried to make the boarding and departure process as quick and efficient as possible. The crew was as detached from reality as could be, meaning: not very friendly and just doing things by the numbers.

Jetblue needs to improve on Onboarding as it seems to always be behind on departing. It never leaves on time. I would recommend to have an earlier Onboarding in order to leave on time and respect your customers time as well.

40 minute delay before take off after boarding flight. Bright lights throughout night flight due Issues with light panels. In flight Entertainment nonfunctional

I booked this flight using JetBlue points and I was just so happy. The plane was so clean, I had every need met. Thank you!!

Another horrible Jet Blue experience. This airline has suffered the biggest decline of all from best to worst. TVs didn’t work (again). internet was temperamental. Boarded late and couldn’t get organized to serve snacks.

I hate their constant delays! It’s as if I cannot confidently make plans for timing when I'm traveling with them. I slept through it, so all I can say is it was good.

The staff at JFK were rude and unhelpful. I was harassed for the same bag that I used on my flight to jfk with no issues claiming it was the inappropriate size. The women then allowed my travel companion to board with the same size bag because they thought she was more “humble”. Also on the flight when informing the flight attendant that nationals no longer have to fill out the Bahamas immigration form my statement was met with eye rolling and attitude.

One of the crew members, a male complained about my bag being too heavy, which I felt was really unnecessary. I am disabled and would have carried it myself if I thought it was going to be a problem. In addition the landing was rough because everyone gasped in unison which it touched down.

There was no wheelchair or wheelchair escort at the gate..unacceptable

Surly, unhelpful ground staff at JFK. There was a complete lack of empathy—a flawed check-in ordeal caused us to miss our flight. All airlines that I have ever flown would have worked to help me solve the ticket problem. Instead, frontline employees shrugged their shoulders and pointed fingers at us for having made an error. I will do anything to avoid EVER flying on Jet Blue again. It well deserves its low rank among airlines.

Flight was delayed 2.5 hours - a big deal on an overnight when you plan to sleep.

I feel like they have upgraded the app since I last flew United and I found it to be super helpful. I had stopped flying United unless absolutely necessary and my experience on this trip indicates they have been working hard to improve their services.

flight delays, staff only communicating when pushed, food service lasting a grand total of 7 minutes, stuck in seat from 45mins into flight until landing

Nice flight, nice crew but no cookie or napkin with my seltzer.

The flight was canceled. Got rebooked to Chicago and when we arrived our luggage where to there. They were going to our original destination the day after. They would not deliver them to our house. We had to go pick them up.

EWR terminal C United Club is great. Flight and everything else mediocre

737 Max was leaking water into the cabin through the windows. Overhead bins opened on landing. Bad bad plane.

Very bad , airplain had problem with engines , had to evacuate, had a delay on my trip for almost 4 hours , lost my rental car in london..

Other than the two hour delay, it was fine. Of course they were very professional and kept us informed throughout the whole delay..

Easy boarding in group 2. Landed 1/2 hr early. Delicious cookie snack.

I was in business class. There was an excellent headset. But half an hour before arrival they collected them! The rest of the trip I had to use a cheap earphone. There must be a better way to protect the headphones.

WiFi connected but only let you go to the AA website, not even text messaging worked.

I think the seats on some of their planes are uncomfortable. You can be ok on a short flight of two hours but no more than that. The delays, and also the refreshments on the plane were not enough.

Awful customer service on the phone. No phone number on the website to call a real person. Website says changes are no charge but this is a lie. I had a cheaper ticket through Kayak therefore Finnair wouldn’t change it unless I would pay the entire fare again. I begged but their agents at the airport were rude and the online chat person cut off the call with no help. Super disappointed. Wont fly this airline again and will tell everyone I meet how bad it is. Crew on the flight was nice but otherwise huge disappointment.

Generally good but we were delayed almost two hours from the original time of purchase. The pilot claimed an internal issue then an external equipment issue that needed to be adddressed. He made up a lot of the time.

The flight was excellent, provided that we had inclement weather. We departed earlier than scheduled and arrived early. There was a little turbulence, but nothing to be worried about.

It was less than what is expected for a business class ticket I thought that the staff actively ignored me because I either looked Indian or Hispanic to them and I guess I did not deserve their attention. The food which included a beef entree was not available so not enough food was ordered for number of seats available. I will say experience in Greenwich lounge was very good and the staff there at the airport were very nice. May be your crew needs to learn about racial equity so that everyone gets either the same aweful treatment or hopefully the best treatment which is what we expect I recommend you take a flight with Singapore airlines that I have taken and the crew remember your last names and use it to address each person, food never finishes if you are at the back of business class and crew anticipate your need even before you articulate. Same price and 100 times better service than American Airlines

pleased with overall experienced, but seats in coach are tight.

Don't often sit in 1st class. Our experience was great.

The 2 hour delay was frustrating but our crew did a great job getting us out quickly and keeping communication especially with the people who had connecting flights

Everything could be better. The plain was in Orlando for 3 hours prior to boarding. After boarding all the passengers they found out that plane has a mechanical problem. After an hour the problem was solved, the pilot comes on and states, (We have to go back to the gate and take on more fuel!) Are you kidding me???? Who they have for pilots, Boy scouts?? I barely made my connecting flight to Vienna, but my suitcase did not. I'm still waiting for it, in Gyor, Hungary. Am I having fun yet?? Other passenger were in the same binned. I travelled all over the world both for business and pleasure with all types of airlines. By far of all the carriers I travelled with, Discover is the worst. I'm contemplating to bight the bullet and go back to the US with a different carrier. For International flights, the seats are made for little people. The person in front of me had his seat reclined the whole way, I felt like he was sitting in my lap. For closing, I would not let my dog travel with Discover, yet alone recommend it to an other person. Does it sound like I'm frustrated, Think about having to travel back to the US with them. I'm sure I'll not hear back from you, because nobody wants to hear about bad news, but with all the hype Discover puts out there about their services, nothing could be further from the truth. Only problem we experienced was not anything to do with Lufthansa. When changing planes in Frankfurt we spent over an hour on passport control line. Lufthansa did a marvelous job on everything from keeping me informed via texts, to terrific cabin crew.

Bordón could be bettet if the company say before boarding the order of the different groups.

Checked in is easy and it was a smooth flight from LAX to Munich

There is no recline on flight from DFW to FRA. Middle eastern airways provide better recline option for the same class. FRA to Bangalore has better recline option. I bid 100$ for premium economy, my request was declined. But staff handled it without issues.

The Lufthansa part was wonderful. The short connection flight was not.

German crew were very kind. Food was okay but can be better, especially bread was not good, Garbage collection was very poor.

Awful Terrible staff poor communication Flight delayed for an hour with no apology or explanation and no help re missing connecting flight. Resulted in a 7 hour layover at Munich waiting for another connecting flight. Only 15 euros refreshment voucher given. Will not fly Lufthansa again

Both flights were late for what appeared to be the airline’s not having the planes ready. Arrived over 6 hours late.

It was a busy flight and all the crew were very helpful and gracious
