There was no food to review unless you consider pretzels as a food. No movies because there were no movie screens. Stewards were nice and attentive.

Cons: "The seat was really uncomfortable even if reclined all the way. If the person in front of you is reclined, then you basically have to recline yourself to see the screen. Very little leg room."

Cons: "Boarding the way there, they did not honor my AA Advantage card to board earlier because my boarding pass did not say so. Even after seeing it said so in the computer system, they refused to honor it. So this time, I gave up and boarded with the last group. No prior warning was given that this plane would not allow for carry on luggage in overhead bins. Further were no charging ports on board, no free WiFi, no adjustable headrests, and the seats did not recline. There were no kosher cookies."

Pros: "Staff was fantastic. I was travelling with my 83 yr old mother and the counter staff couldn't have been more helpful. Very compassionate which was much appreciated. Really made a tough job much easier. I wish I had thought to get all their names. They made the trip...though others throughout the trip were just fantastic--including especially the wheelchair attendants."

I called and talked to an agent and asked how my flight could have all of sudden gotten two hours longer and was told the delayed departure was correct and the arrive time was not. He said it was a mechanical issue and could change so I should still go to the airport an hour before my original departure time, which I did. When I arrived the flight was now delayed by more than four hours and I was told it was due to the crew being timed out so I had to sit there for five hours waiting to leave. I should be compensated for this error but cannot find out how to do that!"

Cons: "The flight delays suck. The crew makes jokes that were not funny. I'm not afraid of flying but imagine someone who is. They would have had the heard crew making jokes about how many near crashes they've seen when taking off. The attendant closing the doors said I'm about to close the doors if you have a problem with it Catch me outside how bout dat. Not everyone would get that joke, so if you did not know about the Danielle Bregoli 10 mins of fame, then you would think it was very rude. In addition having cup o noodles and buzz balls as a choice sucks. The seats are super uncomfortable. No matter how small you are you will be touching shoulder to shoulder. Do not attempt to use your armrest. The seats hurt your bottom as well. Keep in mind I was on a flight for 1 hour. I'm not a big girl so that was not the problem. Carry on luggage the normal size, you have to pay for. So make sure you pay ahead or you will pay $100 at the gate."

I had to pay a $100 fee to change my flight and they didn't have any options for same day. The flight wasn't even boarding yet and there wasn't a line for security and the gate was very close. If they don't let passengers know of their rules when selling through a 3rd party website THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO SELL THROUGH 3rd PARTY WEBSITES! Absolutely disgraceful experience."
Pros: "Great first-time flight down to LA from Oakland. Great seat/lots of room/nice staff."
Cons: "My trip home was ruined when I had to pay an extra $65 for a super small roll-on bag. I was called out of the on boarding line and not informed as to why. This experience was embarrassing and made me feel awful. I would have not been so upset if I had to pay the same fee on the way down. I actually was able to bring 2 carry-ons out of Oakland without any charge. The LAX SPIRIT team made me consolidate into one bag (which I did earlier) and then charged me an outrageously high fee for a small, 18" roll on that fits under the seat! SPIRIT is inconsistent in their service/policies airport to airport. They have lost me as a customer based on how they nickel and dime their customers with inconsistent policy enforcement of their policies. This industry continues to bulldoze the customer and makes air travel beyond painful."
Cons: "I was on time and it took me a couple of minutes at the kiosk to check in. The online checkin was not working either on spirit airlines.com. I missed The cut off by 2 minutes literally. I told the agent I wasn't aware of their policy that all gates close 45mins prior to boarding. It's not like I had a checked bag in which case I would understand. Letting someone not board a plane 45 mins prior to arriving at the airport is just plain madness. They were so unadjusting and not ready to listen and then wanted me to pay $99 to fly the next day. Their service seriously needs major upgrade. I try not flying spirit because of this reason and now will avoid it at all costs."

Cons: "Going we got there early like others and gate was changed w/o anyone letting us know. It was passed boarding time and we overheard another passenger telling someone the gate changed. Last minute it was announced, but couldn't understand the speaker. Leaving, we got there early and passed boarding time, there wasn't any announcement. We asked an agent and she didn't know. Near our flight time, learned our flight was delayed. When got into Oakland, we hit traffic since our flight was delayed. Pilot was informative about not moving to empty seats, because of weight distribution and working long hours and would get to Oakland ASAP."

Cons: "The airline emailed at 2 am to notify that the 6 am flight was cancelled. The cancellation hotline was not too helpful - they rebooked me on a Delta flight connecting to two more United flights. Delta flight was delayed so I would have missed my 2 connections. Finally rebooked me on another Southwest flight to New Orleans (final destination) that they should have rebooked me on in the first place. Also discovered upon my second rebooking that the initial rebooking agent did not rebook my return flight, so I would not have had a seat had my first rebooking leg not been delayed. Only offered at $50 Spirit voucher for the inconvenience. Definitely never taking Spirit again."

But this last experience was the worst, when checking flight status our flight was delayed 45 min, when we arrived at the airport it was only delayed 15 and we were denied entry to the flight BC we were only 40 min early not 45. Even though we were not check bags and are TSA pre check and would have easily made out flight. Money wasted, awful airline, awful aircraft, awful customer service. Book at your own risk."
Cons: "spirit attempts to force a customer to register with their site in order to check-in, their ticket rates are a bit lower than the competitor but charge $50 for a normal checked bag, have one kiosk for check-in, very few gates /low priority at airports which causes longer waits for boarding and deboarding. Overall the experience with Spirit has been horrible and expensive. Their business practice includes deceptive pricing, over charging for luggage, and long waits. I will never fly with Spirit again."

Spirit was unable/unwilling to provide me with another flight to my destination on the same day, and as a result I had to book a flight with another airline. Spirit refunded my ticket price, but I had to pay 5 times that much to book a flight with such short notice on another airline, and Spirit refused to do anything else to compensate me for this huge loss of money, due to their cancellation of the flight I had booked. I will never fly Spirit again."

The lady at the gate said not to worry, we weren't even getting off of this plane. 10 MINUTES BEFORE BOARDING, I'm told that I'm going to miss my connecting flight and that my options were to either sleep over at Vegas or fly out the next day. I decided to fly out the next day, getting to my destination at noon. Got home, looked up the flight that the man at the kiosk booked me, AND IT WAS GETTING IN AT 11PM THE NEXT NIGHT. I called Spirit, infuriated that the rep literally lied to me, and asked to speak with a manager. I was told that a manager would have to call me back (WHAT?). I have yet to receive a phone call. I will never, EVER, EVER, fly Spirit airlines ever again."

I'm a tall man, this was the most uncomfortable flight I've ever flown on. I was squeezed into a seat that didn't fit. I won't be flying with you again, and will suggest my friends and family not as well. You charged $55 for a carry-on bag? What a con!"
Cons: "The response to the cancellations in Houston was pathetic. They cost me 2 extra days, which is totally unacceptable. The agents (seem to be based in China) on the phone have no clue about alternative routing or using other airlines to accommodate. My original 4 hour flight transformed to an 9 hour ordeal after being stuck in Houston for 2 extra days. At IAH the gates have no information about the flights, passengers were being moved from one gate to the other. Seats are terrible, may work for 2 hr flights but not more. Very short staffed. Threatening passengers with increased costs at every turn is absolute nonsense. FAA/FTC needs to look at the truth in advertising. When I try to select a seat there is no seat available unless I pay more money, so what do I get for the advertised fare?"
Pros: "Flight was on time and boarding process is quick and efficient"
Cons: "Extra charges for everything! Paying for carry-on bags, assigning seats, drinks/snacks, etc. No inflight entertainment. No wifi option etc. At the end, you pay the same (or more) for the flight that lags traditional services."
Pros: "Staff at Spirit Airlines at OAK airport were really nice and helpful. Flight was cheap and safely flown - a huge plus for me, but plane not cleaned well and baggage fees were higher than the price of the flight itself so I am very lucky I brought a recognized carry-on bag."
Cons: "For my outgoing flight, my front pocket magazine holder in front was pretty covered in some stain that I couldn't recognize but was sticky to the touch. I knew they hadn't really cleaned the plane. I didn't really open that magazine holder because it was covered by this large stain. My return flight was changed several times due to mechanical issues but I appreciate that Kayak sent updates via email. It was 70% likely not to fly but ended up flying maybe 3 hrs later (good that they made sure to be safe than sorry) but I just couldn't wait to find out overnight that it would be cancelled at the airport, so I had to reschedule my flight for the next day and find housing and transportation again. I overheard other passengers complained out loud even on the initial flight to OAK airport that they would not travel with Spirit again, but I had more issues with my return flight than my outbound flight. All in all, I think you get what you pay for but this was probably not the best experience."
Cons: "I Never even made it to LA. Spirit airlines apparently charges 55 dollars to bring a carry on. This wouldn't make me as upset as i am right now but what pisses me off most is the fact that an employee for Spirit told me you only need to pay the added fee once for the flight to Oakland airport but needn't pay again for the trip back to LAX. This was a lie, for they said you must pay the same fee again for the the return flight. Seriously?! Not only that, but upon arriving 45 min early for the return flight to LAX, they told me I missed my flight and could not check in. To top it off, I was charged 75 $ to find the new flight which wasn't even for the next day but the day after for the same time.. Along side the very rude costumer service from your airline staff, you ask how i would rate my experience with Spirit airlines? TERRIBLE! I would give 0 stars if possible and never again will I book another ticket for Spirit airlines ever again."

Cons: "I had my boarding pass on my cell phone, but the security gate scanner cannot read Spirit passes electronically. I asked an Spirit agent to print my boarding pass, and she DECLINED to help. We went into a 20 minutes argument, and at the end, she called the boarding gate and told to leave since I was unable to pass without my boarding pass printed. The superviser showed up, but was of no help. At I needed was a boarding pass printed, to be able to pass the security gate. I lost my flight because of their incapability."

What made me book Spirit on a one way flight from Sfco to Lax was to make sure that my wife will get her regular dialysis treatment as soon as we land in Los Angeles. To my surprise, I did not realize only when we arrived at Sfco airport that my boarding pass was for Oakland airport, hence we missed our flight. In my desperation to make it to my wife's fixed schedule , I had to purchase another tickets for both of us, including my daughter at twice the fare $225.00 one way. The problem is this, I had specifically typed Sfco airport (meaning not Oakland) on the kayak website so in my busy travel schedule did not bother to check that it automatically gave me Oakland as departure location.
