Pros: "The crew that checked me and those who were onboard were very helpful and cheerful."
Cons: "Better choices of movies on board."
Cons: "I might have missed it but the useful information of the weather of the destination was not announced this trip. Some pilots make the flight more personal with their messages with their PA system. No need to be interrupted a movie we are enjoying for the promotion of inflight purchase though."
Pros: "even though I was in Economy class, the seat was comfortable, the food was good and the flight attendands were attentive and polite"
Pros: "Pretty much everything"
Pros: "Easily upgrade to premium economy class"
Cons: "Some staff lack of basic english"
Pros: "Nice seats. Ample leg room."
Cons: "Everything. I will fly out from Narita from this point forward."
Pros: "The seats were comfortable, the staff was lovely and accommodating, and the food was delicious."
Cons: "The WiFi was very weak and barely connected to any website. It couldn’t connect to Netflix, but luckily the in-flight movies were okay."
Pros: "This was my first time to travel with JAL. They take excellent care of all of their passengers. The flights did not seem to be as long as they were. I was very comfortable."
Cons: "Inflight WiFi is very slow and choppy. I wish we could get a stable and high speed connection."
Pros: "The seats were comfortable for economy, but that's about it. Unfortunately, everything else ranged between mediocre and okay. For non stop to Japan, I'd rather fly ANA."
Cons: "The whole entire class system that they are beholden to as if we're still living in feudal Japan. Swiss & Lufthansa serves more meals and at higher quality than JAL. The drinks were also blah. JAL focuses more on their Business Class and First Class Passengers. Even their luggage comes in first."
Pros: "Everything. The flight attendants were courteous, kind, and efficient. The seats in economy were large. The entertainment system had many options and was easy to use. The food was great and plentiful."
Pros: "Service is outstanding. Attentive but not invasive and always with a genuine smile. Will fly JAL every time it’s an option"
Pros: "Food is better than most other airlines. Seamless check in and boarding"
Cons: "Seating space is quite cramped"
Pros: "The staff was attentive. The seats are comfortable. The in-flight entertainment is great!"
Cons: "The headphone jacks are temperamental. If I put the headphone jack all the way in the port it would only play in the right ear of my headphone. On my flight to Tokyo and on my flight home the same thing happened. You has to pull the headphone jack out slightly to get sound in both earbuds."
Pros: "Economy seating the best in the business."
Cons: "Old movies"
Pros: "I liked the entertainment on board."
Pros: "Japan Airlines still provides all the services to make for a comfortable journey. The airline staff are excellent, the food is good and there are no bag fees."
Cons: "I did not like that we could not book our seats until 72h before departure."
Pros: "The small plane from Toronto to Chicago was operated by American Eagle. The airplane is a small. I do not have leg room, but overall it was a decent flight."
Cons: "Small airplane"
Pros: "Let's face it - flying b-class is pretty awesome, so for $3300, it was really great. Loved the food selections, though I did feel the food was a little on the heavy side. I had the Japanese fare, which was lighter, but a little more salted than what I prefer - but over all very good. Service was amazing - the crew is super-nice. The plane, a massive 787 jet, absorbed the turbulence like it was nothing. It was like riding in one of those Cadillacs from the 1970's. The lavatories were big enough that I could actually stand up straight (and I'm 6'0"). The seats were pretty good as well - they had a feature for extension of the seating surface to allow for more thigh support (which I love) as well as great lumbar support. the movie selection was OK - neither great nor bad, and I ended up watching 4 movies during the flight anyway. ;)"
Cons: "I preface this section by saying that I'm being very nit-picky here - there's not much I can really say, except that the seats, while they will recline to a flat surface, which is great for dozing off, they are angled about 15 degrees so you're constantly sliding down them in that position. Also, there could be more support for your head in the reclined position - I had to futz with pillows and a blanket to get that comfortable. However, the reclined position was the most comfortable, and I could get it so that I was sufficiently reclined with my legs extended and horizontal, while laying back without sliding down. This was sufficient for resting. I'm only mentioning this because I flew a business class flight on Delta in 2015 which had ridiculously amazing seats that reclined all the way flat and horizontal. On the 9-11 hour flight from Tokyo back to San Diego, which will take place mainly at night, this would be a very useful feature."
Pros: "I love flying jal"
Cons: "It's not so much the flight as it was the plane, the 787 seats recline too much for the limited legroom you get so if the person I front of you reclines all the way you will ride with there seat in your knees the whole way"
Pros: "Excellent service. Flight attendants are consistantly helpful and friendly."
Pros: "Great service! Also, the food and beer that came with my flight was awesome."
Pros: "The food is very delicious. I can choose a lot of great movies. The space is also big to move."
Pros: "Plane was not sold out, I was able to have the roll with my girlfriend. All flights should be like this."
Cons: "They made me pay for a seat that they gave to other people for free. Really messed up."
Pros: "Very efficient boarding. Using two doors and a twin aisle plane made boarding very efficient despite the size of the plane and the number of people. Free WiFi worked surprisingly well - I was able to make a video call to my family. The plane was clean and tidy . Not really much more to say as it was a very short flight."
Cons: "No food offered, not even a biscuit, only very basic drink selection."
Pros: "Good food. Very friendly and helpful attendants. They also gave souvenir toys for my 2-year-old son."
Pros: "service is great!"
Pros: "Staff- the ladies in flight were very friendly and courteous."
Pros: "The flight went well and the 3 meals were interesting. The staff was professional."
Cons: "It's kinda hard to sleep. Some of the food could taste a bit fresher and less microwaved."
Pros: "The family had an amazing flight and the in-flight entertainment was excellent! My kids remained engaged for 6 hours and my wife actually took a nap..."
Cons: "As usual it is most difficult moving through the airport in China. It took a long time to get our bags and they were "damaged", however my box made it without difficulty."
Pros: "Staffs areattentive"
Cons: "Chair space so limited"
Pros: "Great vacation"
Pros: "Plenty of leg room, which as a tall person I truly appreciate. They give you slippers, blanket, pillow on every (international?) flight. I flew Korea to Japan and Japan to Hawaii. Got free meals on all flights, even my short two hr flight between Korea and Japan. Free booze too!"
Cons: "Small overhead bin. Not deep enough, I had to turn my suitcase sideways. Luckily there was no one in our middle seat or I'm not sure where they would've put their baggage."
Pros: "I wasn't interested in the meal which i would eat in airplane before i got on the plane. So, without any expectation i got the meal. It tasted good and the service after meal was also good. If i have a chance later, want to take air Japan again."
Pros: "The food was good, which I didn't expect. The crew was kind."
Pros: "the AA flight to japan was the worst flight I've ever been on! tv sreen didn't work, space was tight, food terrible, two sets of headphones bad, I could go on but I don't even want to think about it anymore"
Cons: "getting off"
Pros: "Service with a smile goes even longer for long flights. Excellent service throughout the flight. Loved the feeling of spaciousness, even in Economy. Great sleep as a result."
Cons: "Number of movies available in Entertainment was limited, especially compared to competitors like Singapore Airlines. Ran out of good choices on a long flight."
Pros: "The entertainment system was grest with many movie optionstar and a large screen for viewing. The seat was very comfortable and there plenty of leg room."
Cons: "The plane was delayed by 45min and I had a connecting flight which I ended not missing. The food was average. I was expecting something a little more Japanese instead of chicken pasta. And I didn't have a second option."
Pros: "The service, food, entertainment, everything was perfect. Thanks so much"
Pros: "Everything !!!"
Cons: "Food was very bland"
Pros: "Japan Airlines was a pleasure, from beginning to end & in between. The flight attendants emulate joy in their service to others, they are observant to the clients' needs even before they are asked for help. In a long flight such as this was, it was obvious that they also tend to the comfort of the passengers by ensuring that the restrooms are always clean & presentable. Will fly them again whenever I have the opportunity."
Cons: "Can't say that I have ANY complaints at all!!"
Pros: "It was perfect!"
Cons: "Flight from Taipei to Tokyo was delayed and ultimately cancelled because of "mechanical failure". Many passengers on the flight including us had international connections through Tokyo, with only an hour between flights. It was clear we were all going to miss this connection, but in a frantic and haphazard way, the JAL crew's only solution at the gate was just to get us all on the next flight out to Tokyo (I believe via China Air) no matter what our individual final destinations were. They said "from Narita, they will handle all your connections to your final destination." This was a bizarre solution. Why not reroute us individually on other partner airlines, through other countries/cities, from this international airport in Taipei, like airlines usually do? (Also, all of this disorganized communication by the JAL crew at the gate was never translated into English, I just happen to speak a little mandarin and was able to understand what they were directing us to do). My wife was the one who searched for an alternative route on her phone (through HK instead of Tokyo) via their partner airline Cathay pacific and showed it to the JAL rep at the transfer counter, and through a series of radio and phone calls, only then did they say "there might be seats left", but they couldn't book the seats for us there. In order to make the flight, we had to sprint ourselves to a completely different terminal and concourse to another transfer counter to finally book our seats on this Cathay flight. Needless to say, our luggage did not get pulled from JAL in time to make it on the Cathay flights, so we are waiting 2-3 days for them to hopefully be found and sent to us. Overall, I was completely disappointed by the JAL staff, who didn't take responsibility or ownership of the situation, and who's solution to just fly everyone out to Tokyo, no matter our final destination, and to leave us to figure out our connections there was extremely short-sighted and irresponsible, and was a total disservice to their customers. I expect much more from this airline. On another note, we flew JAL from Boston to Tokyo, and Tokyo to Taipei: the food was terrible and food options were really subpar for an international flight, I would've expected much better from JAL and the dreamliner flight."
Pros: "The flight was smooth boarding and sailing with excellent service."
Pros: "The flight attendants were very accommodating super friendly."
Cons: "The food . I had a stomach ache with one of the salmon(raw) salad. It was horrible!"
