Cons: "The WORST experience of my life. My flight was delayed 12 hours overnight due to "weather" and since it was reportedly because of uncontrollable weather delta didn't have to do anything for me so I slept in the JFK airport overnight, they wouldn't even give a $59 pass to their sky miles club for the afternoon. It felt like an easy excuse so they wouldn't have to do anything since there were other airlines still flying out of JFK and to go CLE before my rescheduled flight which makes me believe it wasn't all weather. Since the flight was delayed 12 hours instead of being cancelled they wouldn't let me switch to a different airline either. Then, in the morning when it was rescheduled to it was again delayed because they first couldn't find a captain and then couldn't find a fort mate. We finally took off and arrived in Cleveland only to wait another 30 minutes for a gate and a ground crew that they couldn't find. I will never fly delta again."

The rest of the flight was quiet, uneventful, and pleasant in part due to their good nature. I cannot have gluten or soy, and I was brought a complimentary bag of potato chips that were gluten free - the one and only time this has happened! I hope to fly with this crew again someday."

Pros: "GRU to ATL to LEX - all was fine. The plane from GRU to ATL was one of the nicer jets I have ridden in. The ratings above reflect my overall trip of going to Sao Paulo and returning to Lexington, even though the first part had to be re-booked on United."
Cons: "LEX to ATL to GRU did NOT happen because the LEX flights were delayed to the point of missing the ATL connection. While Delta re-booked me on United, my flight arrived 3 hours later than scheduled (so transportation plans had to change), my bag did not successfully move from the Delta flight to the United flight (and was thus delayed in getting to GRU) AND once the bag was received, 4 shirts had been stolen. While a delay/theft claim has been filed with United, this could all have been avoided if the Delta flights had been on time."

I waited in line for 2 hours to get on another flight home and the attendant first suggested to fly me to Charlotte then Cleveland where I would arrive a day late after I'd been traveling with my elderly parents for 24 hours. Additionally, once we changed flights and had to go to Newark, it took an hour to print (yes, print) our new itineraries for United and then when the cab should have arrived immediately, we waited 45 minutes. I was displeased."

Cons: "The flight was delayed for 2.5 hours was out of the control of the crew. They did what they could. But the plane was cramped. Not enough space. Everyone was cramped. We missed our connecting flight they put us up in a hotel and booked alternate flights. We had to stand out in the cold waiting for a shuttle to take us to the hotel. The hotel staff said more than once they were not prepared for all of us and getting us from airport to hotel and in rooms was almost another 2 hours. That gave us 3.5 hours to sleep before we started in the next journey. Of 4 hours from take off to landing in our home city. I had to pay for my baggage to go onto another airline."

Also paid $50 extra for priority boarding and security but was informed by the airport staff in Aruba that it didn't apply for that airport. Seats are a little tight"

Cons: "I was originally scheduled to fly to Cleveland from LGA at 8:30PM. At 12:30PM I got a text from United informing me that my flight had been cancelled. My only rebooking option on the same day was a 9:45PM flight out of Newark. Newark is significantly farther away from my apartment (2 hours vs. 30 minutes) but I took it because it was my only option. After a 2+ hour trip to Newark and going through a disastrous check-in process I found out my flight was delayed until 10:30, then 11, then 11:41. Hardly any real announcements were made until the end when the gate agent stopped hiding. No apologies were made and wasn't even offered water for the inconvenience."

Knowing that it wasnt put on the flight no one bothered to notify me or even put it on the next flight out that was about 3hrs after the time i departed. Cons: "I was rather annoyed that the inflight video monitors played commercials for the entirety of the flight (almost no one elected to pay $8 for TV on what was supposed to be about a one hour trip). The cabin was obnoxiously bright as a result, and it was difficult to avoid being distracted and irritated by the flickering. United should have those screens turned off unless users pay for them-- it would save valuable energy too, wouldn't it? I was also frustrated that we were delayed a number of times because of mechanical difficulties, but I'm grateful that we took off knowing everything worked. Between the late in-bound crew and the mehanical hold ups, we could have all taken the bus and arrived sooner."

Would have been bumped off the plane if there had not been any "no shows" since Spirit boards by the passenger number. Highest can get bumped and my number would have been lower if I was able to check in the night before. Not my fault. This is a risk I can't accept."

Pros: "Arrived 55 minutes before my flight. Tried three of their kiosks to get my boarding pass each time they rejected my credit card AND my valid US passport. The automated scale to weigh my bag seemed not to work. An attendant came by and put a sign on it to say it is broken. Went to the manned counter and was told I was only 41 minutes before takeoff and they cut off at 45 minutes. In addition if you are checking a bag it costs half as much as the round trip ticket. I had tried to determine what the baggage rules were days ago but their lines had been all busy for long periods. Their website was useless. They told me they could rebook me only in 4 days. I asked if any other airlines were leaving earlier. The lady at the counter said they domy have any way to check other airlines. I HATE this airline and will never fly them again. You shouldn't either if you know what's good for you."

What if you don't pay for your seats after purchasing plane tickets? Do you have to stand? If you want a flight paid for in one fee, do not fly with Spirit. We will choose a flight with one payment that takes care of luggage, flight and seats all in one. My luggage coming back was 7 lbs over so they charged me $25.00 extra coming back. Hidden fees with this airline. The seats were the worst part of the plane, very uncomfortable. Flight was smooth."

Hidden costs and lack of information were issues - they do not make clear when you book that the cost for luggage increases the closer you get to the flight, also do not make clear that their is a charge for choosing a seat but not if you select random seating. Overall I could have flown a quality airline for the same price."
