And we boarded the plane on time, deboarded the plane, they gave us warm drinks and pretzels and cookies to tide us over. 5.5 hours later? we take off. Nothing AA did was done right for the customer."

Pros: "Great crew, happy hour was wonderful."
Cons: "close it!"
Pros: "The pilot was a riot, the flight was on time. Again, nothing wrong, nothing special. As it should be (if only we had more leg and seat room, and I am pretty streamline)."
Cons: "food options, departure delay"
Cons: "We booked a round-trip flight on AA from Philadelphia to Dublin. Due to changes in our travel plans we revised our flight dates. The phone customer service rep who helped me make the changes, assured me that the AA policy was to group families together after she informed me that I could not choose our seat assignments at that time. Arriving at the Philadelphia airport, we used the self service kiosk to check-in. The issued boarding passes put my wife and me in different rows on one side of the plane, and our nine year old son on the other. I asked a roving AA customer service rep if it would be possible to change our seat assignments and explained what we were told when rebooking. She waved vaguely in the direction of the baggage counter, and told us we could change our seats when checking our baggage. We brought out baggage to the counter and informed the customer service rep working there what we were told by the kiosk and phone representatives. She immediately yelled at us and told us to calm down, even though we were merely asking and explaining. Each time we attempted to explain our situation or ask where we could seek assistance, she bristled. Finally, she told us we should go to the main check-in counter because she could not change seat assignments. The check-in counter rep was very brusque. She said she could not change anything because we had boarding passes and should accept the locations because it was an international flight; however we could ask at the gate if changes could be made. At the gate, service was provided for three flights - Dublin, London, and Manchester(?). We stood briefly in line and were motioned up to a desk for the London flight. I informed the customer service rep that we were travelling to Dublin, and what we were told by the previous AA representatives. Without checking to see if was possible to seat the three of us together, he told us that he could only put my wife and son together. Somewhat relieved, we asked him to revise their seat locations. He made the changes and handed us our new boarding passes. As we walked away from the counter, I noticed that the new boarding passes were for the London flight and did not have my wife's or son's names. We returned to the counter and told him that there had been mistakes made. He immediately snatched the passes from us and berated us for not telling him that we were not going to London. I told him that we had told him of our destination as soon as we approached the counter. He retrieved our original passes from the trash and told us to wait for the Dublin flight reps to arrive. Immediately, I called the AA toll-free number and informed the phone agent of all that had happened. She was able to locate two seats together for my wife and son, and told me to inform the gate reps of the information. Because of character limitations I cannot tell of the counter rep who was an angel and managed to seat the three of us together. Thank you!!!"
Pros: "The boarding has become much clearer and efficient since the new system is deployed (instead of calling each level, you just see the boarding group no.)"
Cons: "The seat is cramped to its maximum. Leg room is no longer a thing. Entertainment system is lacking... sigh..."
Cons: "Bathrooms in the airport deplorable. Gates not so clean as well."
Cons: "Provide food would be better"
Pros: "Boarding was fast and easy gate agents were awesome."
Cons: "Older plane. Very uncomfortable"
Cons: "Boarding complete chaos. Looked like Bangladesh. Very unorganized. No airline has ever explained why they do not board from the window seat out. Would reduce much confusion. Too much to handle."
Pros: "Boarding process was easy"
Cons: "Extremely cramped seating for such a long flight and there was no food or entertainment. when my daughter got sick, crew seemed put out by having to help."
Pros: "Friendly people, seemingly short flight, as I slept part of the way. A lot quicker than driving from upstate New York."
Cons: "Again, hard to hear announcements, and I was unaware that non-alcoholic beverages were complimentary. Ride was a little rough, awakening me numerous times"
Pros: "No one sat in the middle seat next to me"
Cons: "Seats and leg room are too small Had to pay to get the exit row"
Pros: "Arrived early and flight wasn't packed."
Pros: "Flight was fine"
Cons: "After traveling on 9 flights during a 2.5 week period, this crew mishandled my bag leaving damage to the handle and top of my bags."
Cons: "They were extremely slow at boarding and over-estimated how many pieces of carry-ons were being taken on board. As a result, every one who boarded the plane late were asked to check their carry-on bags in. We got on board only to find that there was still a ton of space in the overhead compartments."
Cons: "COULDN'T GET ON THE SECOND LEG BECAUSE DIDN'T MAKE THE FIRST LEG"
Pros: "Pilot did a great job coming into SFO airport. Had to abort landing and do it again."
Cons: "Unless we slept through it, no food or snack was served. It was a 6+ hour flight. I was awake for water and soda offerings but not even nuts. To be fair, I may have been asleep but I woke up every time a drink was offered. We came from a connecting international flight with no time to get a meal. We grabbed a bagel as we rushed through the airport. I didn't pick the flight so we couldn't have more time."
Pros: "My flight was very short. It was a straight flight and there was no turbulence. Flight pulled off when it was supposed and early landing."
Cons: "Would be nice to have some sort of entertainment for a 3 hr flight"
Cons: "Need a better chess program"
Pros: "Meh. Once we took off it was fine."
Cons: "It was almost 6 hours late. Performed brilliantly like a classic United delay updated in 30 minute increments? Could have taken the next two flights and left earlier. Could have driven and got there earlier. Luckily we were able to get three really crappy seats on a later connection to Frankfurt"
Pros: "The crew was very good and the seats were also fine"
Pros: "Meals were decent."
Pros: "United and American Airlines are subpar at best. I had a poor experience with rude staff and the seats were VERY uncomfortable."
Cons: "United and American Airlines are subpar at best. I had a poor experience with rude staff and the seats were VERY uncomfortable."
Pros: "Nice smooth flight. Very attentive crew. Comfortable seats. Flying is when it's nice to be small."
Cons: "Flight delayed because of oil leak in engine. Not offered nuts instead of pretzels."
Pros: "Delayed by 2 hours"
Cons: "I saw your email informing me that departure would be delayed almost an hour, that was sent 50 min after its scheduled departure. By then I was out of the airport, picking up my car in long-term parking, and making my miserable way back home. It was a 3 and a half hour drive to get there."
Pros: "I liked the staff at united in Pittsburgh who helped solve the real mess with my reservation"
Cons: "I did not like having my flight to Düsseldorf changed to flight to Frankfurt without being told of the change. That flight was late so I missed my connection to GVA- Frankfurt is a dreadful airport"
Pros: "Flight was very smooth - landed early!!"
Cons: "They lost our luggage"
Cons: "No drinking water was offered on the plane from Pittsburgh to Washington DC."
Pros: "Crew were helpful. They got the plane boarded early for an early takeoff. It was easy getting from landing gate to my next takeoff gate."
Cons: "The boarding was a little quicker and more controlled."
Cons: "Video controller was not working properly."
Cons: "Delay in departing Pittsburgh and also in landing in Newark. Boarding in Newark was put in a corner and United personal at the alternate counter was not polite. Delay landing in Venice and apparently at higher speed than normal, which created alarm at the firefighting statin in Marco Polo's airport."
Cons: "I don't have a problem with a flight being delayed for any reason. That is simply one of the hazards of flying. However, the PIT->ORD flight was delayed multiple times for unknown reasons. If the airline would have given a realistic timetable, customers could have managed their time much easier. Instead, United Airlines kept delaying takeoff for 15-20 minutes, multiple times. When they finally get the customers into the boarding process, they act like they're doing you a favor. Poorly managed, customers manipulated."
Pros: "I arrived safely to my travel destination"
Cons: "This flight was late, and getting our baby stroller took forever."
Cons: "I had 4 sets of tickets because of failures and delays"
Cons: "Missed the lufthanza flight by 5 minutes. United should have coordinated to have Lufthansa wait for 6+ passengers making the same connection or should have had an airport cart expedite us across terminals and gates to make the flight."
Cons: "Stuck in last row by bathroom no head or leg room. Had picked seats on exit roe and agent moved us without asking. Weather delayed flt 3x ! Very turbulent and choppy, crew was great handled it like pros even when same person threw up repeatedly on the plane, and people kept getting up when told not too."
Pros: "On time; good legroom"
Cons: "Paid an up charge for a seat that didn't recline; guy next to me was farting all flight long"
Cons: "Not many updates, very delayed, no drinks given out. Crew very nice and helpful"
Pros: "On time good service very clean"
Pros: "After having to spend an unplanned night at a airport hotel due to "air traffic controller conditions" that made it impossible to connect to a 2nd flight home, the next day early morning flight went flawlessly. We were upgraded to Economy Plus seats on a new 737 which had ample overhead space. The flight crew and boarding agents were all courteous and attentive."
Pros: "This leg home had nice United staff but bumpy. I got seasick but the cabin folks were kind. The leg out in a small plane was bad with one surly female cabin aide. I will tell United in a separate correspondence."
Pros: "Had plenty of legroom after upgrading to bigger seat."
Cons: "Pricey food options and was not offered any refill on my drink."
Pros: "I like that I was able to get on the plane, and get to my destination."
Cons: "I was the ONLY seat overbooked on the flight. The crew basically told me I was out of luck and that I had to be rescheduled for tomorrow. In the last minute, someone didn't show up, and I got on the flight. I don't believe they tried hard enough to give vouchers away to the passengers. In addition to that, why was it overbooked to begin with? This is either a major error by KAYAK or United. Either way - awful experience to go through at 6:30am."
Pros: "Friendly service, very professional."
Cons: "The seat back in front of me had not been cleaned. Had soda all over it. I didn't really care tho. Had to sit in worse places."
Cons: "Overpriced food that didn't look good and very expensive entertainment options"
Pros: "Economy+ seats were very nice. The stroopwaffel snack beats Delta hands down. Check-in was smooth and we had no hiccups."
Cons: "The boarding lines were not clearly delineated. It seemed like there were gate check offers, but audio systems at the gate were not very coherent. Paying for Direct-TV is so-so."
Pros: "The experience overall was good. Loved having the plug outlet."
Cons: "Wish I could have had the entertainment on the app."
Cons: "Everything else"
Cons: "Lining up is about getting overhead space. It gets brutal and awful atmosphere."
Pros: "The onboard crew was lovely, I especially appreciated them asking those who were not transferring to another plane to wait until those who were got off as we were 45 minutes late"
Cons: "The male gate agent in pittsburgh was the rudest and least helpful person I have every met in all my travels. When flight was delayed for weather reasons, and looking like we might not connect in ORD he could only say 'call united'"
Cons: "Recent airline corporation consolidation has greatly reduced consumer choice. The surviving major airlines, in their effort to cut costs, sacrifice quality control and assurance. Pittsburgh's status as "no longer a major hub" was on full display here. United needed to have customer service agents available on site, but they did not. The review could easily turn into an essay on United's complete failure (ask the remaining passengers who were supposed to be on the PIT-IAD), but such a review would not change the state of affairs in the airline industry. I will be contacting United reps to lodge an official complaint."
Cons: "When I passed a crew member and asked him where to put my bag because there was no more space in the overhead compartments, he replied with a snarky and cocky attitude that was not appreciated in the least."
Pros: "Seating is so close you can count the hairs on the passenger in front of you. Tray is too close to you and uncomfortable to even eat or drink anything. Overseas and international seating needs to be larger than short domestic flights."
Cons: "Seating was terribly close, too close for comfort."
Pros: "Flight was 15 minutes early, which helped with a tight connecting flight. Crew was very kind and understanding to this fact."
Cons: "My seat was switched to a middle seat with no reason or justification."
Cons: "We had a confirmed reservation on tickets that I bought months ago. However, when we went to get our seats, the flight had been oversold. We were involuntarily booted off the flight- even though one on standby got a seat, and another person did not show up- we could have gotten on the flight! We were heavily compensated and the staff were as generous as they could be, but it was completely frustrating and upsetting when you have to go through that, after ahead time planning to be booted off a flight like that."
Pros: "Nothing. I didn't take off yet. The flight was cancelled. I got 5 hrs sleep and had to be back at the airport, so I can have the longest day ever, but I guess that doesn't matter, because nobody does anything except shuffle you along"
Pros: "Pittsburgh International Airport's wheelchair service was excellent (provided separate from United Airlines)."
Cons: "I was traveling for the first time in crutches. As soon as I approached the check-in counter, the lady at the counter asked me rudely "Are you checking in any luggage?". I first told her that I requested assistance getting to the gate and asked if it would be by a wheelchair or a cart. She didn't answer the question, and repeated the same question. Since I had one carry-on size bag, I asked if I need to check it in, or if I can bring it with me when they help me get to the gate. To which she replied in a very irritated tone, "I'm asking you if you need to check it in! Can you bring the bag on-board and put it away in the overhead bin YOURSELF WITHOUT ANY HELP?", hinting that no one will provide any help... At this point, I went ahead and checked in my bag. Thank God the wheelchair service is provided by a separate vendor, because he was wonderful and helpful. While we waited to board, the flight was delayed a few times. I could not hear the announcement from where I was sitting, but I noticed people started to make a line by the central info counter. 4:42pm, I received the cancellation notice via email. Because of my injury, I was unable to wait in line for long, so I chose to sit and wait next to the counter, until the line got shorter. 1 hour later, the line was growing even longer. 6pm, I re-booked a new flight for the next day via iPhone app, however, it was still showing the old boarding pass that I was automatically re-booked for. I still had to talk to someone from United to confirm, also to ask for wheelchair to get back to the main building, so I continued to wait. At one point, one of the United employees moved to the side counter to make a call re: another flight that arrived. I went and stood right in front of her and said "Excuse me, I have a quick question about wheelchair service". She looked at me right in my eyes, but she started talking to the other person on the phone. After she hung up, she ignored me and went back to the center counter, leaving me confused as to what just happened... At this point, I did not even want to make another attempt to ask for help. 7:20pm, the line went down to 3 people; a gentleman with a bad knee, another gentleman with a bad leg and myself on crutches... Am I the only one to think there is something wrong with this picture? 7:40pm, I was finally on the way back to the main building with a wheelchair service, which by the way is run by a group of amazing people. I am not complaining about the delays and cancellations. I understand it happens. I am not expecting that someone like me with temporary disability automatically receives first place in line. I do, however, wish United was more aware of some people who are in need of assistance, while being fair to other passengers. I cannot imagine how difficult it is for people with disabilities to travel with United Airlines."
Pros: "Because my flight was delayed for three hour from Pittsburgh to Chicago and sit there for eight hours until my next flight to Sacramento and I was not happy"
Pros: "Flight cancelled"
Cons: "Flight cancelled. Had to wait 30 minutes to speak to United service rep to rebook to Boston. No other Manchester flights. Forced to check carry ons. There were 10 terminals for service reps and only five reps. Line was very long and reps were in no hurry to assist. Not a pleasant experience. They should pay us a cancellation fee like they charge us when we cancel. Incurred additional expense getting to Manchester, NH. Not happy with United."
Pros: "Direct cheap flight"
Cons: "Flight attendant was hard to understand over speaker."
Cons: "The refreshments should be better than a tiny packet of pretzels."
Pros: "Truly friendly and personable staff. We got in early (although movies started after a while and barely finished as we were taxiing)."
Cons: "paying for any type of entertainment or connectivity is annoying. trash and crumbs in my pocket and tray, plus my headset plug-in was damaged and stereo connection was intermittent. drinks @ $8+ is too much."
Cons: "There was a fumble in coordination with the gates and the guy bringing the jetway so we were delayed waiting on him. Then unboarding took a long time. With my connecting flight being a half hour after we landed i would have missed my connecting flight if the second flight hadnt have been delayed."
Pros: "I sat in exit row. Since I am tall , I enjoyed having leg room Each seat had a screen and Wi Fi availability."
Cons: "The lack of air conditioning in the economy section. Noticeably cooler in the front an middle section of the plane. Rear of plane warm. The less you pay the less comfort a customer receive? Plane fares are expensive for everyone. Even those who buy economy should ride with comfortable seating and temperature."
Pros: "I was comfortable and didn't die."
Pros: "The stewardess was personable. The staff at the United Club reception desk, helped with a seating problem on my return trip."
Cons: "The climate of both planes was not great. It may have to do with the age of the plane."
